Scary lasts a few seconds. Unnerving lasts for days
You tell me to watch I watch, that simple boss
Facts
Acting in this is brilliant. My best movie of the year, along with the Iron Claw
It’s amazing what Shudder has become. Also putting movies into theaters.
This film looks great. As well as ‘A Violent Nature’.
I hope we see Shudder continue distributing more films.
Exactly! It's unconventional distribution and that's what other filmmakers and artists have to start considering unconventional ways too. - James D Watkins artistic director of Phoenix Productions.
Saw it in theaters opening weekend, loved it and was great. I cant wait to own it on blu ray.
The ai is really no issue, was only used on 3 title cards. Not bad at all
Meanwhile on twitter people are having a meltdown over it 🙄 Twitter really is the scum of the internet.
This is definitely one of my favorite movies of this year so far. Immaculate was decent. But 'Late Night With The Devil' hits different. Can't wait for more hidden gem films to start ramping up this year.
For people liked this watch, 1992's ghost watch, very similar premise both are supernatural tales in live broadcast structure.
Pipes 😮 I remember that creepy thing. Michael Parkinson
Yh really reminded me of that!
Plan on watching it ASAP when it hits streaming been really wanting to watch it.
19th April on Shudder
I just love how they capsulated the 1970's in the beginning. - James D Watkins artistic director of Phoenix Productions.
I’m hoping this will still be in my theatre when I go back home, I’m really hyped to see this. The fact it was only on once 10pm in your theatre is gross, but happy to hear that it was quite full, hopefully word of mouth will help it. We’ve had great movies on the blockbuster scale with Dune 2, it’s great to get one in the horror genre now too. Let’s keep supporting films like these.
I saw it last Sunday In Astoria Queens NY, only one showing 10:40pm, the audience was great, you get hooked by Delroys drama alone in the first 10 minutes before any horror kicks in
Your comments about being an adult who still gets scared of horror films...
💯% correct.
If you're an adult the concepts in horror are just erie and not a visceral emotion like terror. I don't think these people are faking or acting up being scared of horror but it's a level of credulity that you'd hear about when audiences ran for their lives out of theaters when they saw a train coming towards them on the screen.
Was gonna see J Michael Strazynsky this week, got cancelled, so instead I caught a Late Nite of Late Night With the Devil. Did not feel cheated in the least.
Been looking forward to seeing this and have not yet been able to find it showing anywhere in Brisbane yet.
I got a feeling from the trailer it has the sort of moments that Gangster Number 1 did, if you're familiar with that film there is a moment in an elevator when Paul Bettany (as a young actor) is about to pay Jamie Foreman a friendly visit, you see one of the most career defining transformations on film.
If you can find a screening, I doubt you'll be disappointed
Loved the film and happy to see it get so much praise. Sad that the insanely limited AI has become such an issue with some people.
One of the best movies I've seen in ages. 100% better than most movies, horror or otherwise of late. I cannot fault this movie at all. All the characters were on the money and it doesn't try to be something it's not. Nods to Carrie and the Exorcist.
And I really didn't see that ending coming. It really is THAT good!!
Please note, for Aussies only released on 11th April here. Try independent theatres. Only saw one Hoyts cinema in Melbourne and no Village theatres. Good luck. Go and see it.

I’ve seen such mixed reviews about this movie. I’m glad you throughly enjoyed it and didn’t let the whole A.I thing warp your opinion on it! Now i’m excited to see this 🙌🏽
I agree. Such a great movie. Had a wonderful trailer. Showed just enough to hook me. Had to travel almost an hour to view this movie. Top 10 of the last several years. Reminded me of Frailty with its tone and presentation. You know something is off, you feel the tension, and you still flinch when the gotcha moment arrives. Like Frailty, this movie succeeds on the basis of its actors selling the realism. Strongly recommend this movie. 5/5. See it in a theater. Will stream on Shudder on the 19th.
Not a horror movie by any means. More along the lines of an outer limits episode or twilight zone. But still a perfect Movie
Totally! Or one of those VHS movie skits.
I'd disagree, definitely a horror movie, just without the cheap gimmicks that have become commonplace in most modern horror movies.
15 rated. isn't a horror film
@@lunch7735complete nonsense
Wrong
My brother in-law came across it last week and we saw the film two days ago and we loved every minute of it.
I saw it with my daughter. It was very good. We also had to search out a theater for it.
This was fantastic! I saw it at the cinema earlier this week.
I'm glad to hear how good it is, as I have been waiting a long time to finally see this.
It looks similar to the amazing BBC prank/movie Ghostwatch from the 90s.
The title premise reminds me of Wes Craven's SHOCKER. Horace Pinker awesome villain.
Seen it. Loved it. Want more of it period!!
It’s a blast. Not that innovative if you’ve seen Ghostwatch, but superbly executed, and a whole load of fun. Oh, by the way, Immaculate is decent too - not as riotously entertaining as Late Night, but certainly worthy. Merits more than your Sidney Sweeney- based cheap swipe. I’ve seen a grand total of 2 Sidney Sweeney films - Reality and Immaculate - and she’s been excellent in both, with nary a tit in sight.
Will definitely check "Late Night With The Devil" on Shudder... ~ Something else exciting is "The Void" & "Psycho Goreman's" Steven Kostanski.. is tackling sword & sorcery with "DeathStalker"... ( Gun's & Roses, Slash is the Exec producer & Daniel Bernhardt is Starring... ) ~ Would love to see another interview with him if poss?...
( They've just successfully funded a Kickstarter to help increase the FX budget in order to get more monsters on screen... )
I just watched his Cool Guys short here on UA-cam, he's an awesome director. Astron-6 was one of a kind.
@@robcoguy6909 Cool!!!... ( Haven't heard of his Cool Guys short or the other you mention... But will have a look... ) ~ If you youtube Stephen Kostanski Deathstalker it should pop up some teases for it showing some of the FX sculpts & inspiration etc... under Raven Banner...
Had a buddy recommended this to me, some how i totally missed the marketing for this because i had no clue what he was talking about. Now that you recommend as well im going to have to check it out
Caught it yesterday at a daytime show. Creative and well done film, although the ending felt a bit rushed. Felt like they could have done more with the trippy reality bending aspect but overall a great film. Happy for David Dasmalchian as a growing actor. Loved how they tied in Bohemian grove and people selling their souls for fame
Yes yes I've been asking you for this. Let's hear what you have to say. I loved the first 3/4 but didn't think they stuck the landing. I'm gonna watch it again to see if my thoughts changed. Either way I've been recommending this to every horror fan.
I agree with you. I feel like they did a great job for most of the movie, then got to the end and said “fuck it, tv monster.”
@@forsaken841 I'm not gonna lie, when I was looking at the skeptic I kept thinking you know he looks like the devil a little with his facial hair. Imagine he was like yeah this is all fake because I'm the real devil lol
Wife and I saw last week on opening night and loved it. I guess the bohemian Grove parts are up for interpretation, but we felt it brought something to the events of the night based on his past and participation.
I hadn't heard of this movie. Thanks for sharing. I will go see it.
Great, honest and trustworthy content. Kudos.
Saw the trailer last month and wow it looked so good. Will watch as soon as I can.
I was SO interested in this movie - I thought the trailer looked great. I was worried because I figured it would be either really good or really bad. I’ll definitely watch it now. I’ve seen the David guy in so many other parts before and thought he was so good and dynamic in them - I’m glad he finally got a leading role.
I went and saw the flick when it came out. I really enjoyed it. My negatives with this were that the opening monologue went way too long. The CGI for the scene where the crap hit the fan looked cheap (possibly due to the limited budget maybe?). However, the acting from everyone was terrific. They did a good job with making the '1970's found footage' setup believable. Go find this movie and watch it. 🙂
It was excellent. I saw it as a “double feature” with Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire with my friends, and we definitely liked this more. The effects were a little much at the end, but it was otherwise good.
It was fine but wholly un-scary. Nothing in this was scary. It was more thriller than horror.
And the James Randi wannabe was beyond annoying.
Superb film. Shades of Ghostwatch and some of the weirder episodes of Inside No.9. Nearly missed it as it only ran for a week at my local cinema, but really glad I saw it. This will become a cult movie and I think will give Dastmalchian a huge career boost.
If it's found footage, who filmed the black and white sections? 🤔
Noted. I'd go if I had funds. Hope it does well in the box office.
Gonna see this film soon, definitely looking forward to it now. It has multiple showings a day over here.
I read that people are worked up over the AI thing 'cause of the joke that is using misshapen robopics to make '70s ads, which were 100% human creations.
Enjoyed this movie so much! David
Dastmalchian is great as the host. Had so much fun.
if you like this try- the history of the occult.
A superb film ? 😮 How intriguing !
Gonna see it tonight with my Pops
That's a hot take. I've found as I've got older I do get more scared. I can't play horror games anymore.
Agree, thoroughly enjoyed it. The care they took with it, the authenticity of the look for its time period, and the performances, were great. And yes, it’s more unnerving than scary, which is more effective to me.
Mr H you do great work dude, also I LOVE seeing Berserk on your shelf.
I saw this last night - WOW!
Brilliant isn't it
@@MrHReviews Nate, I heard Chris gore talk this up then when I saw your video I’m like “ok Nate says good, I’m going today” so I went last night and it is SO GOOD!
Looking forward to this one, I quite enjoyed Nefarious last year.
Great review Mr H ❤ I loved this one too!
We need more movies like this that are made for target audiences, like studios use to do before everybody tried emulate disney and makes movies to appease everybody, but now that not going work anymore!
David from my understanding was one of the driving forced to get this made. Film Threat interviewed him and it’s a great insight if you catch the chance to watch it. Trying to find a screening near me
I had planned to see it. :). I’ll probably see it later this week.
Ending could have been stronger, but was pretty cool for what it was. Good to see some originality in the genre too.
Can you review: When Evil Lurks?
Only one screening at my cinema but was fortunate enough to be able to see it and it is amazing. One of the most original concepts we’ve seen in years and executed perfectly.
I’ve heard this isn’t really a “horror film” per say. At least theres not a lot of horrifying moments.
Loved this movie. Australia really knows how to do this stuff. The Babadook, Talk to Me, and now this. Most of the movies in this genre are entertaining roller coasters with thin plots and bad acting, and a poor script. But it doesn't matter. On the most part, with a few exceptions, it's nothing but junkfood for the brain, but it still tastes delicious and is entertaining. This however is one of the exceptions Australia seems to take these same plot lines and apply well developed characters, good writing, and quality acting and it all suddenly feels original and unique. The trailer for Late Night with the Devil gives you exactly what you'll see and it's nothing short of excellence for this genre. I highly recommend this film. It's brilliant and surprising, and is a neat and tidy 90 minutes. Refreshing these days.
Oh? I may take a look, thanks.
Seen it twice already. Enjoyed even more the second time. 🍿
Just watched it and it felt like an extended episode of The Twighlight Zone, with a real feel of sorrow and depth. I generally felt bad for Jack, but thats the price you pay when you sell your soul i guess.
The cast did brilliantly and the set desgin was amazing. 8.7/10 for me.
looking forward to seeing this streaming on shudder in a week, watching in the comfort of my own home :)
Stopped showings after a week where I’m at. Not even really, 3 days.
The low budget and multiple production companies (minimizing risk for each company), is what allowed the writer/director duo to make exactly the film they wanted to make with no producer interference. So don't begrudge it imo; celebrate it.
My personal 2024 top 5 film list so far, is DUNE Part II and 4 lower budget films.
That young girl was so creepy
Been waiting for this!
i saw it at a 1 off preview screening at my local "arthouse" cinema which was the single showing in my area. loved it, my favourite horror film since the millenium, deserved all the praise its getting, totally lived up to all the hype
I finally got to see it today too. It was very good.
Cant wait to see this movie heard about it sbout a month ago and liked the idea of the story
It was good. Ending was a bit mad. Defo need to see it again
I will check it out.
I enjoyed this film a lot, really had a 70’s feel to it. Had the same problem of only the one showing at the cinema. Definitely worth checking out.
❤❤❤ I can’t wait to see
Its coming to shudder tv streaming very soon.
Sounds good to me, i love the found footage type films.
agree. found footage is more fun because it's like the source material is a conspiracy theory
I liked everything except the ending
In the cinema everyone was so engaged it was quiet and a great time had by all, defo worth a watch in the cinema, fantastic !!
This was actually really good! Even my girl loved it & she’s more brutal of a criticizer than I am. Sadly there wasn’t more than 4 other ppl watchin it. Movies this good don’t usually tend to do well… it’s usually years later when it’s hailed as a masterpiece. Just too bad cause think about how many good ideas we would’ve gotten following a better audience reception that the years later it becomes a cult classic
New subscriber!
It is a wonderful movie. It makes you think on the way home.
it ended so fast because it was thoroughly enjoyable. Shout out to the guy who played Christou😂😂
I think this movie is gonna have some legs. The theaters around me are adding shows. Plus it helps that there aren't that many movies on the dock right now
"I'm WASN'T scared! I was.....um,...unnerved." Love your content, Mr. H., but I had to laugh at that part.
This film was brilliant. I said exactly the same about all the production companies at the start! Fairplay though really enjoyed this. This will definitely be a cult classic
Watched it two weeks ago at local Picturehouse, Club night, small room, packed. We all laughed at the beginning with the various production houses, good 5 minutes. Loved this film, unnerving is the right adjective. I found myself laughing at some of the most gruesome points. Great film. If independent artists use AI to make quality content, why not.
great..film........we..need..more..like..this.
BBC Ghost Watch from Halloween night 1992 inspired this movie I think.
Watching it felt like a full on Analog Horror film. It was such a great, tension rich movie.
Loved it
Seeing this tonight, only showing of the day as well, checked out Everyman and theyve got nothing at all, hopefully we wont have to sit with the little bastards skiving school
Watched it last night... Very well done.
I loved it. Really good
I also agree as far as to say it's one of, if not the best film of 2024.
It'll definitely gain a cult classic status. Although, I can't understand why it wasn't realised during Halloween??
Too scary
Funny because Delroy means “the devil” in Mexican language
Thank you for the recommendation. Awesome movie! It stands out in the sea of drivel.
It was amazing, good pick
