After all these years, Jason finally broke his original Guitar Hero controller by beating Jordan, which he is adamant is still the hardest song. When he looked up he saw a guitar on his wall but had to call Brian and guitarist Mario Alvarez to figure out what it was and how to use it.
Hey cool guy, yeah that's right, you. Look, we're all impressed at how good you already are at guitaring but this isn't a master class for virtuosos. We're going over basic chords in this one. Barely know how to hold this bad boy? Perfect, we're gonna get you to make some noise that isn't total garbage!

I've played for 11 years and I can honestly say just learning any scale and playing it super fast makes people think you're amazing
To the normies lol
Jimmy Boxman I mean if you know about music, but if you don't people think it's genuine talent rather than a tedious practice exercise
Yea I know too many guys that play like this, they are super boring for me but people think that they are fantastic...it's like an insult for me and for other guitarists!
Hunter Marsh yep
Hunter Marsh go Spanish. ;) impresses people.
Power Chords..tricked plenty of people into thinking I knew what I was doing back in high school.
got a friend of me probably the most epic rejection i´ve ever heard (i mean i got one pretty good one myself. i think the girl i liked at that time was quite savage but one girl my mate wanted to impress. that was the definition of savage) the girl pretty cute, maybe 1,50-1,55 tall, blonde a real looker if you like smaller girls, and definitely not the type you´d expect ever near a guitar unless when a hot guy is playing it. My buddy, i´ve got to admit, is quite handsome and well he knew some tricks, that would probably be enough to get most girls. confident, the mess he was playing also did not sound too horrible to my inept ears (like i do listen to enough music especially metal, as you can see from the username, and my ears are quite sharp, but i have no talent for instruments of any kind. and when it comes to singing a friend of me said "don´t sing under the shower, the water might flee") so he grabbed a guitar from the wall she shows no reaction, and then he just plays something, as i said it was a mess but not to bad. but her reaction was just "give the guitar and get me a vodka little boy. otherwise i won´t stand idiots who don´t know jack shit about guitars" she grabs the guitar and plays ride the lightning by metallica like it would be the easiest thing in the world
It is the easiest thing in the world, even the solo is easy
And only in highschool

This is why you're one of the good ones.

Roy Epic it's just a laugh watching Jason try and Brian try and blag his way through the episode.
this is awesome, because:
a. you can learn basic guitar skills, and
b. it's hilarious if you already know how to play guitar
Jack Ansley yup
Jack Ansley but it hurt when he played a C/E and called it a C
it's a C still
EDIT. AND most guitarists play it like that if not needed otherwise
A C/E is still composed of all of the notes in a C chord, it's just an inversion of C where the bass note is E.
All the notes are still C, E, G.
Jack Ansley no im a guitarist this HURTS
Why am I watching this, I don't have to fake guitar skill because I can play
Yes, but you're also an awesome person, which is why you're here.

Nice one my friend
This inset instantly faking guitar skills its learning basic guitar. The fact that this video exists is proofs that people have this stigma that its difficult to learn the guitar.
shhhhh... you'll ruin our rep as proper con men!
Well, true... it's not "difficult" ... it takes patience and more importantly persistence, aka practice practice practice, and that's the thing the majority of "I wanna play guitar (so I can get laid)" people quickly get tired of and quit ....
Most people complain that their fingers hurt. I can't remember when i didn't have leather tips on my fingers so I don't really know what to say, yea I remember, ages ago, when it used to hurt.
But, it's easy to strum on a string yeah, guitar players are a dime a dozen. GOOD guitar players on the other hand . . .
True
All instruments have different skill floors (being able to play and sound not bad). However there is no skill ceiling.
"Learning to Instantly Fake Guitar Skills"
Step 1: Learn how to play
I find that the biggest challenge for beginners is the fact that steel strings hurt like a bitch. Almost put me off from learning initially. Nylons are definitely a lot more beginner finger friendly.
@@WLxMusic yes they are i had to learn the painful way steel stings and the guitar was not set for action lol
Should've gotten Rob Scallon!
you sir, know what youre talking about
The Razors Edge definitely. He should've played Summer or Amy's Song
The Razors Edge AC/DC I love that band!!!! thunderstruck!!!! back in black!!!!
He doesn't leave his house. He has no life other than guitars
Rob, what instruments can you play? Rob: Yes

Alex R. Definitely agree, I constantly just flip mine around when I'm watching TV or whatever. It's like a fidget toy to just mess with.
i got a guitar that was probably 15-20$ and it came with other stuff and in total it was 35$
it came with a bag a digital tuner a strap a string a pitch pipe and i think that's all
so the cheapest guitar ever
Eighty Eight mine cost me like 5000 bucks shit why did I become a musician
I'm in the same situation with owning a guitar for years, but not knowing how to play. This seems like a good place to start, there are several chord types and sample popular songs to practice. Great stuff, thank you!
Is it bad that I keep expecting to hear them break into Roundabout by Yes?

I know i'm probably late for this, but i honestly think that 13:28 is the highlight of the video, the way Brian sings along with the guitar is somewhat spine-chilling to me. it's an amazing preformance from Brian and i'm glad it's a part of the intros
I just go on youtube and lookup tutorials for my favorite songs. You pick up on chords that way. And you play exactly what you want to, rather than some shit from a music book.
David W I started that way, but then discovered the world of tabs
David W same
Music books are better than the videos in my opinion.
Except the music in music books is (usually, not always) tailored to beginners to help teach them chords.
I've been a music teacher for over 10 years and this lesson is 100% legit. I'm a big fan guys keep making videos

With 10 minutes worth of practice, you can play practically anything from the 90s. This should surprise no one
I remember when someone first pointed that out to me. I was stunned.
Jason Murphy
It kind of reminds me of when I was growing up and doing audio tech stuff in the family church and our regular electric guitarist brought in something that had been in storage for a while and it was *just* out of tune when he plugged in to his rig. The rig that was still set to full OD from a different gig that week.
Click, strum, "ya trying to start a Nirvana cover band over here?"
It was a lot funnier at the time.
SkuzzyJ well it does because I'm not born it the the 90s

Pizza Delivery Man they have brian brushwood, aka millions of subs and views.
Power chords are actually extremely useful. They're a good introduction to both scales and barre chords. As some who has been playing for several years, I still use them in my every day practice. Especially for rock/metal.
I love watching Bryan's learning process. he has all of these unnecessary ways to remember things like D is a triangle or c is a cascade. it's unnecessary but it works. when I taught myself guitar it was clunky and unnatural but it was easy for me to learn after about a week because of the natural learning process. everyone thinks and remembers different ways but. I dont know. it's crazy man
I watched this not too long after it came out and thought "Hey, I could do that" now here I am playing actual complicated guitar music while rewatching it. It only took me like year and a half to get off my lazy ass and start learning
That's awesome!!
How to fake being good:
Learn the most basic basic basic melodies of the most generic generic songs.
For example: can you play through the fires and flames? Only good players can play that(this isn't true).
Yeah yeah I can
*plays 7 different notes on only one string.*

7:10 On a C major chord, don't play the low E string (the thickest string). Same thing for the D major chord, but don't play the 2 thickest strings.
hellothere I'm not here to banter but if you play a c chord you are already playing 2 e notes in an octave
hellothere eh, playing C with an E bass note hardly makes a difference.
@@lcarpetrondookmariot7620 if you had ever played with a band or someone else, you'll know how much inversions of a chord really matter
You can, it just changes the chord to an inversion, so it would be a C/E. E is already in a C major chord, so adding it isnt wrong. Just a different flavor of C major.
I lost it at 5:46 "MTV Unplugged (ask your parents)" lmao

Wait! I play the guitar! Why am I here so early?!!
Watched this years ago not even knowing how to hold a guitar and now, years later, I can play and learn songs I've yearned to play. Fuck yeah!
Best episode of the year
oh, wow! Thanks!
Funny enough, what you learned can be extended to a system that may seem somewhat familiar.
In Scam School you talked about the CHSD ("chased") pattern a bit for setting up a deck. Guitar has something similar called the "CAGED" method.
Basically they way he slid the power chord up and down the neck works with the open chords he showed you too (C, G, E, D, as well as A which he didn't show you). Since these chords can be played in the open position, you can slide them up, playing them as "barre chords" to basically get their characteristic texture at higher notes. So if you can learn CAGED, you can (at a basic harmonic level) learn any song.
Looks at my acoustic guitar, "I wonder..."
Jason's ''Whoa..'' when Mario said that they we're going to use 2 fingers cracks me up all the time
I tried this and accidentally fell in Love with playing quitar. I approve.

How to fake good guitar: Power chords.
Every punk band ever: Sweats nervously.
All those hours of practicing so hard my fingers would peel and bleed when I could have just done this.
The callouses and bloody fingers have been a deterrent for me.
If your fingers are bleeding, you're doing something wrong lol
imjustamusician ive been playing guitar for 9 years WHAT THE FUCK HACE I BEEN DOING WHEN I COUKD HAVE WAITED FOR THIS VIDEO
I keep hearing about these horrible cut fingers. Been playing for 6 years and never did more than rub some skin off and make a few callouses. If you're bleeding, then you need lotion or you need to file something down.
If your finger are actually bleeding your guitar action must be a mile up and you are destroying your nerves
