I have a friend who's in her 80s who had a closet full of fur stuff from the 40s and 50s.
She got sick and was bedridden for a few years.
Rats got into her closet and gave her daughter an excuse not to save her vintage sequined dresses and furs.

ETHEL BABY. I discovered you this week on the midnight-3am part of my 16 hour shift at 911. You helped me stay awake as I fell down a rabbit hole into your world. I am 26 and was raised in Indiana and Ohio and from 19-23 had some fucked up dark moments with men and have since healed a lot but felt like such a freak for everything and all the darkness. I am sober and productive and healed but always bother me that I hide from those shadow parts. Your music and art have allowed me to visit those places in time in a way that isn’t just blacking it out- in a way that feels safe. I would love to hang out with you I feel like I’m so many ways you are me, you are such a chill sweet girl. I’ve also always had an unexplainable affinity to Nebraska. Thank you for being you. Protect your energy please. Some people will try to suck you dry. Ily

@@allyson-- my sister in law does it in Utah and while I was visiting her I did a job shadow. I searched up openings in my area in Ohio and applied, and then they provide the training. :) I love it so much because I get to see every side of humanity. The good, the bad, the ugly, and everything in between. It can be heartbreaking but also so heartwarming and you can feel yourself make a difference most days. It’s also fun to be cussed out in new creative ways and often very funny lmao. The pay is great but where I work, there is a lot of mandatory overtime so I typically do 60-85 hours a week, including several 16 hour shifts and mostly 12. I have never worked an 8 lol.

58:58 i looove that she answered this question, because for the longest time i've felt that sun bleached flies would've been a perfect closing track, because it's ethel coming to terms with what happened to her and forgiving it all, as she says in the song. strangers is my favorite song on the record, but it's so devastating to listen to after sun bleached flies, because it takes you back into the story, and deals with ethel's failure to be loved, and that's why, for me, it's even more gut-wrenching; sun bleached flies is tragic because of general failure in life, but strangers is tragic because of a failure to be loved, which is one of the things ethel always craved the most, hence all of her (mostly toxic) relationships with men, who in the end either abandoned her, abused her or quite literally killed her. sun bleached flies makes me want to sob and sob and sob, but it brings a certain amount of comfort in the end. but strangers is like being stuck in a cage where there's no coming out of, and to me, it will forever be the most heartbreaking song on preacher's daughter.

I think the rod with the curved tip and coil forming the handle is designed to be used with something hot. The coil is there to protect your hand from getting burned. I suspect it was made to ,perhaps, pull a cover plate from a wood stove, or move some coals in a small forge.

10:54 I think it's a manual hole saw- a combination drill/ saw/ wood rasp tool, for when you need to work in the middle of a large sheet of plywood or a wall of planks.
The point works as a hand drill for wood, then, you use the teeth on the shaft to enlarge the hole in any direction.
At least, that's what we use ours for.
Yours is a bit bigger 😅

oh i missed this! im staying in this cabin from the 40s right now and was just watching your 2nd art books tour last evening to enhance the vibe.
im not finished watching but i think its really interesting to choose to keep the rust on old items. restoring it feels like erssing its “trauma” per se. i tend to feel a personality with a lot of objects, specifically found ones and especially old ones. i have this really weathered, thick chain i found on a beach with my grandpa years ago, it has this rippling rusty texture that i wouldnt get rid of, because that would make it like any other chain. i feel like it has a mellow personality. this lead fishing sinker i found at a beach maaany years ago feels more malignant to me. maybe because exposure to it would slowly kill me. planned obsolescence and the sheer quantity of consumable items makes most modern objects feel vacant. they dont survive long enough to have a story.
as u described your deer foot hanging from ur old homes roof and how you just store random awls in drawers i was thinking about how damning and hilarious it would be if someone had to run an investigation on a house u left behind. reminds me of how in old houses theyd just stuff walls with razors and old teeth or other waste and probably didnt realize how horrifying it would be for the next generation to find

I'm late watching this because YT put it on my feed, just this morning,
    Lets get married.
I have a lot of the same stuff you have - Good vibes !
My sisters are creeped out by my tool room.
That's more their problem than mine.
