Great tips on fitting the headunit, I might do the same. The facia (and shelf) from the T5.1 fits though for a slicker, but more costly upgrade. Great content as usual, keep it up!
I fitted a single din head unit with a retractable screen to eliminate the glare from the sun. Absolutely amazing. You may find that your screen deteriorates after a while from sun exposure. Run the unit off the house battery with the trigger wire connected to accessory. Love your show
Great looking little head unit. If you wire a relay across that switch and get a piggy back fuse holder from an ignition live you can have best of both worlds with the radio. The dark coloured panels in the cab are looking well.
Good skills. You are goingnto cost me 100 quid. I really need to do this to my van. Does look like you need to get the moist gritty sponge out and give the t5 a scrub 😅

I still have a Polk Momo sub in the loft from over 20 years ago.. it wouldn't fit under the seat in the t5, so got the 10" JL audio and it slaps.. van time is guilty pleasure time, so I need a good set up to pump out anything from happy hardcore, d&b, grunge, speed garage to 70s disco + everything in between, and no one can judge me...
Another absolutely CLASS video. I am however totally new to all of this in terms of the upgrades to my motor... and so - just to check as I am 1000% planning on doing this... As long as the wiring is carried out correctly, in terms of the reversing camera... it will know as soon as you're in reverse?!
Hey bud thank you appreciate that, yes soon as it’s wired into the reverse light wire I mentioned when you stick it in reverse it automatically turns the rear camera on 👍👍

25:52 I'd have cut the yellow plug off and fitted a new one or used Wago connectors. To get wires through the rubber gaiter I used some plastic hose (I used beer line) and slid it through the rubber gaiter, so you can then slide all your wires through the hose. Then carefully remove the plastic hose.
Hey Nathan, great video. You could have pulled a live and switched live from the fuse box right under the radio! Would have saved you running the wire from the leisure battery
That wiring tho :D hahahah u do know they make solder connectors that u just heat up and they solder and heat shrink them at the same time. much cleaner job i would 100% redo that.

I have this stereo,brilliant piece of kit. I've had countless stereos with amps and subs over the years. The only thing I'm finding is with the amp connected to the stereo,the amp is constantly on and running the battery flat,how is your connected to the stereo?
99% sure that the CAN bus tells the head unit when the vehicle is in reverse so no need to do anything to get the reverse cam to work. I have a similar (identical) head unit in my Skoda and the cam just works - no wiring required. I installed one of those tail gate open button camera's for the more discreet look. Its not the correct one for a mk2 octavia but it fits with some jiggery to the connecter.
Hey Clive, I fitted a later stereo in my caddy and it drained the Battery. I cut one of the canbus wires that goes to the stereo and it stopped it as the canbus system doesn’t know the stereo is there. Just have to turn it on and off manually 👍 thanks mate

There are plenty exactly the same advertised at £75 on eBay. Just spent a bit of time checking specs and the screens and functions and they are the same

I could have dug out a skibadee and helter skelter tape out the loft, but apple car play is cool too

Sometimes putting the reverse signal through a relay cleans the image up

I found the current from the reverse light was insufficient to trigger the camera. I had to run an extra wire to the front to make it work
Never got on with the Android head units. I went with a sone dab head unit that does carplay and android auto.
