We have just got back from Scotland, with our caravan, which included the site at Skye. You just past our pitch on the way to the dog walk. You seemed to have similar weather. We had a brilliant view of the Loch.
We went to Isle of Skye many years ago when you had to pay toll for bridge and the following year they removed the toll. We stayed at Sligachan Campsite and used the Pub. We were plagued by midges and as we made a hasty retreat the morning we were leaving, we stopped at a layby up the road and wiped the windows, which was like thick black oil with midges!! We hope to go back sometime. Loving your videos of Scotland - Great job as always!!
Stayed exact place last month. Well maintained site and Skye is beautiful especially the qurraing and the old man of storr, the north coast and the Mckensie memorial mountain range area.
Great vid, I can confirm no signal on 3 either and unlike most of the rest of sites in the CCC network WiFi is chargeable on the Skye site. That’s exactly the noisy wash lock fan that bothered us - we were on the first grass edged pitch just slightly to the right of facing the fan. Rest of site was glorious and restful and you could sit outside with just natural noise :)
Stopped over 1 night at that site on our NC500 trip even though they were full warden took pity on us and put us on a car park space in front a little timber camping pod that was vacant for one night . Great views all around. Sure you will enjoy your stay.
Some years back, as a solo tenter, I'd booked a pitch at this site at Edinbane. The lovely gentleman running the site had reserved a pitch for me but, in view of the incoming blow on the second night of my two night stay, he offered me a space behind the high fence you see as you leave the laundry at 16.28. Having worked on North Uist, no contest and my car was parked by the vents. The wind was noisier when I decamped from behind the fence to the car in the early hours of the second night and not a soul heard me leaving before the 7am deadline.
With the CC Club the reason you are not allowed before 2 pm is because the roads can be narrow, this allow for the leaving vehicles 🚗 to go so there are less problems.
Gosh the roads looked pretty clear on Skye last time we visited ( last May) it was so busy that we did not go back this year ! Thanks for taking us along on your journey :D Teddy
Hi Enjoying the videos as always. Did NC500 in May and your videos are inspiring us to have another trip in September up the West coast. Can you please give us a midge report from each site and advise how Smidge is working
Thank you. Just found a site on the Internet, smidgeup.com, which gives a 5 day forecast. Glencoe where we encountered some is one to watch. It was muggy, damp and still when we were there, ideal conditions for the little blighters!!!!
Bob Earnshaw glorious thanks for taking us along - if you’re veggies who eat fish (seems pretty common) I can thoroughly recommend the smoked salmon and salad roll/bap/bun from the castle cafe.
Sorry Bob. that one fell flat I think,, no idea the castle had a cafe. Just "trying" to make a joke. I must remember the "lol" thing. And write to the Guardian to check if it is a joke or an offense. LOL
And weeeee R Offffffff !!!!!!!!! Wooooooo Hooooooooo !!!!!!!! : o Very coooool a fighter Jet ...... Nice !!! : ) ....... Yes - very peaceful : ) Time for lunch : ) ......... Peace on Earth : )
Phew, for a minute I thought you mean't a night. Early retirement in October and thinking of getting a motorhome. One of the options we're considering. Thanks for the prompt reply
@@mickheathcote4570 Same here. Not long retired and just put a deposit on our first motorhome. Avidly watching these videos and getting some great tips and insights into the world of motorhoming.
We don't need it, we like to have it, it's all about personal preference. It doesn't mean we sit about watching it all the time. Too busy editing in the evenings usually, or answering UA-cam comments... 😁
Great video as usual. However, I cringe every time I hear you pronounce Sligachan as Sliga-chan with the 'ch' being soft. It's more like Slig-ach-kan with the middle syllable being hard or gutterral as if your are clearing your throat when you say it.
Wow beautiful scenery and amazing mountains. I just want to go now😉
More fantastic views bob thanks for showing the bottle of protection fluid for the van I will get some of that for ours cheers enjoy Skye 👍👍
Good food, live music, and a pottery within walking distance down the road when I was there last year. Up hill coming back....
Another cracking (!) video. Thank you so much. Enjoy your couple of days xx
Just glorious xxx who needs to go abroad. Xx
as long as weather permits
between you and Andrew Ditton anyone wanting to do a Skye trip will be sorted, loving the journey 😊
Great Video .. looking to visit Skye in July so will be very eager to see what you get up to :)
So scenic more places on my go to list.just wish I had more time like yourselves but work gets in the way 😀
nice video brings some memories back we stayed near the pub in Sligachan at the camp site greetings from the netherlands
Thanks, a lot of campers from The Netherlands like the site.

Midges really haven't been a problem this holiday so far. North Uist was too windy, and the Smidge dies keep the few that we have seen, away.
We stayed there last year while doing the nc500 great site 😀👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Another amazing vid. Thank you ever so much. Will keep following. X
Something to look forward to when I retire
General observation of these campsites facilities is that they are very clean.

Wow the mountain views are spectacular! Your camera is ace, looks amazing on my s7 edge👍

Thanks for your video Jenny and Bob, I am I right in thinking years ago you had to get on a ferry to get onto Skye, but now there is a bridge ?, 👍👍.
Yes they built a bridge from Kyle of Lochalsh to Kyleakin on Skye in 1995, was made Toll free in 2004. There is still a Ferry at Glenelg.

really enjoyed it!
Lovely and good roads too. That Co-op looked big.
Yes a good sized store, did our shopping there the following day.

The roads seemed remarkably quiet.

Can you please give us a midge report from each site and advise how Smidge is working
Here's a quick update. We haven't had any issues with Midges, but I think it's been too windy for them.
Thank you.

Btw you damage your handbrake if you dont push the button in, that nose is you grinding the clogs and that's how handbrake eventually break I've heard
the TV aerial might need to be vertical for that area
Yes, I thought that, afterwards. We were OK with the satellite.
Dunvegan Castle do a good Steak and Chips!
Probably very nice, but we're veggies!

@@CaraVanOlogywithBecky yes, strictly speaking we're pescatarian.

Why are the wipers going, it's not raining?
The problem with making videos for people is someone always spots my tiniest errors. That was most likely a tiny error.
@@BobEarnshawMoHo ha, to be fair it is Scotland, it'll no doubt rain in 2 minutes anyway

£42.70, for how long ?

there is no fuel subsidy in scotland
Unless it's been repealed... www.gov.uk/government/news/rural-fuel-price-cut-gets-green-light
How much money to park on stone chippings ! ...
I know, I so much prefer a wet muddy field.
When did site fees get so expensive! Ouch!
Yes, but then the cost of everything seems to creeping up.
Blame it on BREXIT. Too political?
@@frankwbeveridge I couldn't possibly comment. Yes.
i really don´t understand why people want to look tv on their holiday....my god, wich such scenery!
I don't have time to watch TV, I'm usually editing in the evenings. Jenny's watching the women's World Cup.
Well it didnt appear to be a relaxed and friendly site. Must have been a million signs and notices.
It’s sleegakan ( that’s the nearest equivalent I can manage)
Emphasis on the 1st syllable
Yeah, Linda - SLEE-gachan, said really quickly, so it sounds more like SLEE-achan. Uig is OOH-ig.
Its slig-a-chan. The ig is the same as in twig. The ch is pronounced the same as the ch in Loch. That's coming from someone who lives on skye. 😉
Its no wonder they want independence xx
I don't need TV on holiday.

Typical camping and caravaning ,lots of does and don'ts
