Honestly having grew up from a subtropical place where moisture is disaster, I knew as a kid that a pair of pants worn in the winter unwashed to last the warm seasons will just smell so mouldy after six months in the closet, and I used to wash all my clothes except jackets and sweaters at least every week... And I was very surprised to learn that clothes could just dry naturally interior in Europe. My conclusion is that no one should ignore the climate situation before judging about this. Also, I used to have only three pairs of pants, all jeans, two black and one indigo uniqlo all year around. And then I became a denimhead......hm....
Yeah, very true words... the humidity must make a massive differece. We dont think anything about drying out pant on the balcony or on the rack... but I guess it is different by you.
Wear for a year then wash them. I've been wearing selvedge for 25 ish years. I wear them turn them inside out and hang them outside, iron them inside out then wear them again. I don't wear them everyday or at home. Generally just wear them on nights out or days out.
Only 1 jeans? Dude i have 34 jeans.... Before pandmic i never washed them just hang dry through the sun, only wash if greasy wet, very smelly and tainted..... But after pandemic every time i use it straight to wash... 😩
Must admit that I am a little confused... He says that he doesn't wash his pants, but then talks about washing his pants occasionally (i.e. every 3 months). Even the title of the video is "I never wash my pants". Which is it?
I only have two pair of pants, a pair of Levi's jeans and a pair of Carhartt work pants, they work fine for me and don't see why you would need more than that.
I’m finally breaking out my 18oz brave stars I bought like 5 years ago. They still look brand new but didn’t like the cut. I don’t mind the straight cut now
This is one of the problems when you've heard or read something and then immediately think that you've became an expert on the subject. His thinking has became too rigid and inflexible, and what's worse, he's completely integrated it into his lifestyle. Besides this, how fucking boring. As they say variety is the spice of life. A much needed video!
Yeah, its the boringness of minimalism that I can't get my head around... why would you not want a little variety in life... but then again I know that what to wear stresses a lot of guys out on a daily basis, so there is that. But a little education in the subject would go a long way. Thanks for the kind words, Jason.
Another great video! I’m a fan of the lens flare. 😁 As much as I’m in awe of anyone with crisp fades, I’m very much a vintage fade guy… well, semi vintage fade… crisp vintage… if that’s even a thing.
Yes, as in, wear looser unsanforised jeans but still don’t wash them much. I have some resolutes that are turning out lovely without too much washing - though Japanese vintage fades fans seem to advocate loads of washing and even tumble driers…
i have 3 pairs of jeans. one pair is currently benched until i lose enough weight to get back into them, but i already repaired them. i have one pair that is more tapered for the early 2000s look and another thats gonna be vintage fades. they will all be continuously repaired because i am not spending another $280 on a pair of jeans and i want the ultra worn in look of denim thats been worn for 10-20+ years or something like that
"How to get dog $#!t out of his jeans without washing them" had me LAUGHING, and the look on your face was priceless!!! Quick question- in the title "Why Me and Matt D'Avella Don't Wash Out Jeans." did you mean "Don't Wash Our Jeans"? Not trying to pick on you at all, I just have one of those brains that processes information very literally most of the time. Also pointing it out in case it's a typo, so you can reach a larger audience! And you definitely wouldn't want to "wash out" jeans if you want contrasting fades! 😊
wore last winter old fashioned straight leg japanese raw denim 6 months straight from one day to another. they did not smell at all after half a year, but my inner feeling said to wash them by hand. fades are great on pockets and knees and they are still pretty dark even in daylight. now planning to keep these without showing them washing (handwash or machine) at least a year. but there is a pair of new Levi´s cannabis dark loose fit indigo jeans waiting to start work in this season, so i will wear both.
Get by with only 1 pair of jeans? Hahaha... no, no, nope, no way! Life is too short to not enjoy as many of the amazing raw denim fabrics being manufactured today as possible 👖
What location do you live in to we're jeans everyday... That's not easy in the tropics or subtropics. Hence "jorts" shin sweet equals 'cut offs' that what we call em in Australia.
I sway back and forward now i think about it. I always intend to wash a bit on the reg but then 5 months pass and I notice a little stank and think... oh, 5 months have passed.
@@CeeAreDee I recently bought Momotaro,PBJ, Warehouse & Co, Flat head, Samurai in one week span. I end up buying the high rated denim that you have reviewed.
2 things i hate on this planet are minimalism and black jeans, if you gonna go 1 pair of trousers and no wash lol atleast go indigo, idk why but black jeans are too boring for me
Never washing a cotton shirt that you wear every day would absolutely stink. T shirts absorb sweat dude there's no getting around that. Unless you sweat detergent and never do anything active your shirt would be disgusting after a weeks wear.
Yeah, its a gross habit 😂 but T shirst pick up pit sweat and the rest, pants dont get quite so up close and personal woth the sweaty parts... least if youre weating underwear.
I guess stretch is tricky to repair and I agree with him on one point, if you only have one pair then it's important that they look as good as possible.
Meh. Have over 10 pairs of selvedge jeans, been there done that. You don't have to wash them evey wear but full time wearing for over a year without washing will make you reek. I am coming round to the thinking of the Resolute guys in Japan who are slightly mocking of the high contrast fades, bad ass greaser look.. Each to their own...But I have a Pair of Bootleggers 601xx , worn about 30 times and they have various stains on them..inthe maching they go today, inside out, refresh wash , no detegent.. ..and no shame. The indigo is real and fucking lush and can see the crackling laready...
I love UA-camrs team-ups, well when I know who the hell they are, which I do with these two. Without fact check? Matt, where do I find the video of you eating Tide Pods? lol
The idea of not washing jeans is frankly disgusting to me. You can choose to do what makes you happy but people don't smell their own smells very well our brains filter out ambient smells like those of our own BO particularly when those are a gradual change in odor. Pants don't need daily washing since your legs don't sweat much but tossing them into the wash about every 2 weeks of daily wear is what I go for. A shirt absolutely picks up an odor by day 2 and a distinct funk by day 3 not washing shirts for a month well I'll put it like this I've picked up a hitchhiker before who probably went that long between washes and yeah no thanks.
I dont like fade, in raw or selvedge denim. But i hate losing the color of my jeans. Thats why i think prewash jeans are better. Retain the color longer. With that being said, im planning to buy nudie selvedge.

Northern Europe. Makes for easier w were you can wear jeans most days
Highly entertaining. I'm in the no-wash camp also. Once in a blue moon if we are expecting rain, I hang them out on the clothesline.

Welcome, however we in oz are limited to cooler months when we can actually wear jeans
Welcome to the fold Kenneth. If you can power through the hot time you will get some sick fades for your troubles. What you rockin these days?

I like your glasses. Where did you get them from? Brand? Frame style?
They are from Ace and Tate, not sure of the frame style I'm afraid. But they have everything online.

Yeeaah, why don't wear indigo x indigo instead. They looks the similar 😂
No black jeans 😳 I love me a pair of black jeans... maybe I was just into Metallica from an early age 😂

Same here. Sad, but true 😶
I think that happens to each and every denimhead...
If he was really into this eco stuff he’d have got the jeans repaired. There was no good reason to retire his jeans.
