Thank you for watching my Ultimate Video Desk 2021, let me know what other questions you have about my setup. Another project of mine, Home Theater in a Shed: HTTP://shedcinema.com
You have mentioned the name of your teleprompter monitor but I would be interested in the teleprompter glass you are using. The enclosure looks pretty cool. Would you mind sharing a link to where I could get one of those?
Great take on Caleb’s video. I made one just like yours before seeing this video and you really thought of much more then I did. Thank you! Now for the backdrop. Looking forward to that video
That is inspirational. I'm a beginner on your journey. Thanks for sharing. The only tiny suggestion is to get the sound monitors off the desk and hang, or mount them at ear height. They will sound much more open and natural. Greetings from Brisbane Australia.
Love it! Very clean and very capable. We might be taking some notes over here at A2Z. One man shows are always a need as you don't always have someone to switch for you. Let us know if you want some extra fun things for the atem mini extreme or other ideas. Happy to help (although you are killing it so just keep doing your thing.)
Thank you! I've watched a few of your videos and you guys are great! I love how creative we can be with these prosumer grade video gear and look like we are a full-blown studio online. Keep up the great content!
Very useful video. Can you please explain your teleprompter more in detail? What telepromtermodel do you use on your main cam? Is there a link to this model? Thanks.
I use a regular teleprompter setup but have my main camera behind it and I have my computer connected to it so I can use it as a 3rd monitor and do Zoom or other lives using it.
Wowwww thank you so freakin much for being so thorough!!! It is greatly appreciated it! I’m curious … do you have a similar break down of the original set up on the smaller Desk?
That's an awesome desk setup!! I think you put DSLR Video Shooters desk to a new level :D The teleprompter looks great, which one do you use?? Many thanks!!
one suggestion if it has not already been said is your primary umbilico chord could be a drop from the ceiling thus reducing the number of cables across the floor even more. Infact doing HDMI over ethernet you could do the same with the second telepromter and the board with the wiring running up the umbilico from the desk then acroos above the drop ceiling and dropping at the best location for those items
Do you have any issues with non-4k monitors with an m1 Mac? I’ve tried a few things and it’s always looked like garbage, and really trying to figure out if there are smaller monitors that “just work” for screen sharing at 16:9
This is awesome...I have a clean slate and are considering the setup / layout / equipment. this is super helpful...If. Ican do 25% of what you have setup, that'll be a success! Again, amazing details..Thank you for sharing
have to say... your station really looks like a streamers desk. You see those videos of desk setups always so simple...streamers have way more gear then a camera and a mic. Congrats... really cool station
Why, when you have the Rodecaster Pro, would you use the dbx 286s...isnt that sort of redundant? wouldn't either one do the job? thank you. Ahhh, now I see..."overkill" as you said.
I have a teleprompter connected to my computer like you, and when I put a white page it reflects in the image any tips? I noticed lowering the brightness helps a little but doesn’t eliminate the problem
A question which I hope you can answer for me. I am using the Mac Mini 2014 model which is connected to my MSI 34' Widescreen curved monitor, but when I use EcammLive, the system gets choppy so I'm wondering if there is a way that I can also connect my Macbook Pro 2012 with 1.5 TB of storage and 16GB of RAM so that I can use both my Mac Mini and laptop to speed up my system? Please help!!
This is an incredible setup!! I have the same desk and have been wondering what to use to attach my light to the desk (on a c-stand at the moment). Could you let me know what you used to get your fill light attached? Feel free to drop affiliate links in the description!
OMG - This is so freaking AWESOME 🤩 🏆😎👍🏻✅ I am about to dismantle my current system and fully rebuild a new studio setup that’s why I am here and You have inspired me heaps! Thank You for sharing. Cheers from Western Australia 🇦🇺 ✌🏻
For all that equipment, your video looks… off. I can’t put my finger on it bc I’m a noob, do you use a color checker card? Do you use the 180 degree rule? Love your stuff, keep it up!
Excellent video Michael. My biggest frustration with my setup which is VERY similar to yours is cable management. It gives me a headache when I see all of my wires just hanging down off the back of my standing desk. I'm going to probably watch your video 50 times just for the cable management ideas lol...With that being said do you have any thoughts on why it took a week to cable manage or some of the challenges on doing the cable management.. I'm working out of a small bedroom but the space is manageable for now but this cable management is driving me crazy. BTW Keep up the good work
Yea, I used to not care about cable management but now it is a priority. The energy in the studio so much better. It didn’t really take a week to do the cable management, I was just changing my mind on how I wanted things run so a lot of time was spent on doing and re-doing. Glad you got some ideas. One thing for sure, always test everything BEFORE final cable management. Never assume everything will work the first time. Haha
Wow! This video is packed with tons of awesome information. I have one question; how did you adapt the Aputure Light Dome to adjustable arm? Is there some special stud used?
ya know......if you were smart you could have laid the new desk on top of the old desk upside down to work on it instead of working on the floor like you in kindergarten. just saying
Like I say in the video, it is overkill for most but it servers many purposes for my needs and it’s nice to have everything ready o go whenever I need it.
Thanks Nathan, I appreciate that positive feedback. 😂 The beginning was bad, I agree. I was using a new lapel mic and didn’t realize the gain was too high. I hope you enjoyed the garbage. 😝
Ha, ha, yup Nathan came off a little harsh. But I know how much all this costs as I've built my own studio. You are showcasing like $30k+ in equipment between the cameras, lenses, teleprompters, computers, mics, switcher and mixer, etc. So the audio quality didnt reflect the expectations for that level of investment. I was expecting SM7B or MKH416 audio. 🙂
excellent information, I noticed but did not mind the audio quality, after all, you are walking around your studio, the background music became a bit redundant, I think you could pan the music out entirely.
Caleb Pike - DSLRvideoshooter does some really genius hacks and set ups. I have done his teleprompter hack as well, it works great. He is really generous with his knowledge.
Thank you for watching my Ultimate Video Desk 2021, let me know what other questions you have about my setup. Another project of mine, Home Theater in a Shed: HTTP://shedcinema.com
I just watched your video - your setup is AMAZING! Do you have a link for your overhead DLSR camera? I didn’t see it in the description box.
This is truly a spectacular set up. So professional
What’s the name of your teleprompter? A link would be great.
You have mentioned the name of your teleprompter monitor but I would be interested in the teleprompter glass you are using. The enclosure looks pretty cool. Would you mind sharing a link to where I could get one of those?
Did you find the name of the Teleprompter brand?
@@holger.gruenhagen I did not. In the end I went with an iKan. It does the trick for me.
@@GregFurmanek Thx for replying. I am checking Ikan, too. Seems to be a brand for professionals.
@@holger.gruenhagen I wonder if I should make a small video about my promoter setup?
@@GregFurmanek Would probably be helpful to many users.
Great take on Caleb’s video. I made one just like yours before seeing this video and you really thought of much more then I did. Thank you! Now for the backdrop. Looking forward to that video
Can you share the wiring diagram for this setup?
That is inspirational. I'm a beginner on your journey. Thanks for sharing. The only tiny suggestion is to get the sound monitors off the desk and hang, or mount them at ear height. They will sound much more open and natural. Greetings from Brisbane Australia.
Definitely going to borrow some of your ideas when I get a room I can dedicate to video and voice work. Great work station.

Wow! That is a very nice mobile setup. Love it. Thanks for sharing the up close shots of the equipment. Very helpful.
Absolutely
Great video. Thanks for shooting it. What is the name and link to the multi-arm mount that you talk about at 17:41 in this video.
It is this one: amzn.to/3ysoC9n
Can we get a video on your backdrop in this video?
Yes, it is on my to-do list for videos.
YES! Please make a video on the backdrop!!!
Looks like you can run a whole television studio + MCR on that desk...
nicely done...
Yes :)
Very useful video. Can you please explain your teleprompter more in detail? What telepromtermodel do you use on your main cam? Is there a link to this model? Thanks.
DSLRvideoshooter he designed the teleprompter hack
I use a regular teleprompter setup but have my main camera behind it and I have my computer connected to it so I can use it as a 3rd monitor and do Zoom or other lives using it.
Thank you. This is a dream setup for my point of view.
Thank you for sharing.

thanks, unfortunately I did not make a video out of tat build.
That's an awesome desk setup!! I think you put DSLR Video Shooters desk to a new level :D The teleprompter looks great, which one do you use?? Many thanks!!
Good lord! This is incredible. Where can I see a drawing or schematic for this?
i'd like to see a video on choosing a whiteboard
one suggestion if it has not already been said is your primary umbilico chord could be a drop from the ceiling thus reducing the number of cables across the floor even more. I made a video on how I mounted my Rodecaster Pro to a monitor arm to free up desk space. It's worth doing!
Do you have any issues with non-4k monitors with an m1 Mac? I’ve tried a few things and it’s always looked like garbage, and really trying to figure out if there are smaller monitors that “just work” for screen sharing at 16:9

No I haven’t. :( I will soon.
@@ManShed Looking forward to it.
have to say... your station really looks like a streamers desk. You see those videos of desk setups always so simple...streamers have way more gear then a camera and a mic. Congrats... really cool station
exactly! IT's nice and clean looking but not functional with the options and tech I put on mine. Got to switch it up to keep people engaged.
What mount did you use for the 120d
I will look it up for you. Not at my studio ATM.
@@ManShed thanks!
Enjoyed this video! What’s the make/model of the rack mount power supply @7:16?
thanks, it is this one: amzn.to/2Wp7jZx
Did you buy or 3D print the M1 and Caldigit brackets too? Looking for these things forever…
Larger light source as a fill light?
amazing job! thank you ManShed
Why, when you have the Rodecaster Pro, would you use the dbx 286s...isnt that sort of redundant? wouldn't either one do the job? thank you. Ahhh, now I see..."overkill" as you said.
Wooooow! I just started creating my little studio, and you just blew my mind with ideas. Love it
There it goes... Minimalistic? NASA is jealous right now. Super clean and congrats!
I have a teleprompter connected to my computer like you, and when I put a white page it reflects in the image any tips? I noticed lowering the brightness helps a little but doesn’t eliminate the problem
Yea, that is a problem with most. The best glass to get is a 70/30 or 65/35 split.
The teleprompter appears to be from Prompter Pro, are you also using their software?
prompter people is the manuf of teleprompter ... so it seems ... however ... what he has laying in the tray is from a different what PP offers

Not possible to use both in tandem. You would need a beefier Mac like the new Mac mini with M1 chip or the new Mac Studio
Incredible video and setup. But why is the audio so muffled? Am I the only one ?
Oh god the tech lust that this video gives me! Great work! Wish I had the space for something like this.
Glad you liked it!

To clarify it looks like it’s on the stand you mention in the description, but there looks like another piece added. Thanks in advance!
OMG, there you have a cinema studio on a desk, wondering how much did it cost...
I’ll have to add it all up. 😂
Setting up something similar

How about naming it 'The Mega Hub Station'?
It's a Mega Hub for sure.
You have a lot of gear but it's looks so neat great job Michael

Absolutely the worst garbage audio quality
