This particular castle has been sold to a new owner who is currently renovating the premises. If you by any chance know the location of the castle please don't try to enter it because this is punishable under French law with a fine of 15000 Euro and or one year of imprisonment. The castle is NOT abandoned anymore!
Exploring abandoned places is my hobby and finance it all out of my own pocket and the donations I get from the people who love watching the documentaries we make... A small donation would be greatly appreciated! ► / brosofdecay
Documenting historic abandoned treasures is not for the faint of heart, reaching this particular place took us on a journey through a dense forest in the south of France, a journey of multiple hours through difficult to navigate terrain, this combined with no way of telling in which part of the forest we found ourselves made it a very challenging endeavor.
Eventually, we made our way out of the forest and we were rewarded with the first glips of lost beauty, a fairytale-like castle build for a rich French family just post World War One.
The family had a long-lasting history in the noble sport of Horse racing and build this place in dedication to the sport. Many prestigious horse racing events have take place on the ground of the castle in the last century, but every great story has its ending, the family got into financial trouble and had to sell the castle. When the castle got sold it got a new life and was transformed into a reputable hotel.
This was however until the year 2003 when for no apparent reason everything got left behind and nobody seemed to care about this historic beauty anymore.
Now almost 2 decades later the castle still remains in its desolated state and is slowly withering away.
Our journey today will take us inside the walls of this once magical place and we will show you it’s forgotten remains.

NOT abandoned someone with big bucks owns & is renovating. They can afford to sue the crap out of these guys. These illegal videos are the only way most people will ever get to see such amazing places. It’s so dangerous if they get caught they could get beat or shot. They can get sued at any moment because they expose these places to looters & vandals. Especially cause they always have those backpacks could be accused of stealing souvenirs. I like watching but I am concerned for these guys sneaking in.

Everything in this castle is just beautiful! Of course my favorite was the tower room. I am a big fan of stairways and passageways! I don’t know how you can keep from crying sometimes after going through these beautiful places, and knowing that they are just going to be reclaimed by nature eventually. I get caught between happiness and seeing something so beautiful, and sadness and knowing it is going to waste. Another wonderful explore! Take care and many blessings.

I don't think so Kara. I think these people had planned to take their best stuff with them but the creditors were nearly onto them and they had to do a moonlight flit. The ownership is probably tied up in an incredibly complicated way which is preventing a sale to new owners. Navigating French property sales is time-consuming and complicated even for ordinary property, who knows what this one is like

The "crest" that you keep seeing in all of these castles is the Fleur De Lis / Fleur De Lys - French Monarchs adopted the symbol (it actually dates back to at least 7th century B.C. - so no one actually knows it's original meaning). Thank you for another great explore! It's a shame to see such a beautiful building slowly falling into wreck & ruin. Here are a few notes FYI:
    (1) I’m not 100% certain but I think the room beside the grand salon was originally the dining room and that the built-in cabinetry was used to display the house’s dinner service & flatware. (2) The round seat in the middle of that room is called a “borne settee” and is derived from the two-seat “tête-à-tête” or “indiscret” (adding a third seat is called a “chaperone chair” and collectively they’re known as “conversation chairs”). (3) In the entrance hall, the chest of drawers you describe as gold-plated looks like a reproduction with what’s called Boulle marquetry that employs tortoiseshell inlaid primarily with brass or pewter (If it was original-17/18th century-it would be in a museum or a grand stately home or castle and worth many 100s of thousands of euros). (4) The director’s chair in the grand salon is a Roman design called a “curule seat” that was reserved for imperium; in Europe, symbolically it denotes power & authority. Original designs folded so as to be carried into battle. While this x-shaped chair design was found in ancient Egypt, Rome & Greece it has been used throughout the centuries and has many different names: often, when it has a back, it is called a “Savonarola chair” (5) It’s difficult to tell whether the piano is 6’ or 8’ but it’s tragic to see a beautiful piano in such poor condition; I’d say it’s mid-to-late 19th century and in restored condition would be worth at least €10,000 and poss. as much as €30,000. (6) The “crest’ on the floor tiles & on the iron fire-plate is called a “fleur-de-lys” (lily flower) and has been used in European heraldry for centuries, though it is most often associated with the royal and/or the noble houses (those connected to royalty) of France. While there are many stunning, genuine antiques left in this chateau, there is also some reproductions and 20th-century furniture, in particular, the Chinoiserie pieces and the white & gold ‘baroque’ bedroom suite.

are looking so medieval, I would describe as medieval revival, - also from the late 19th century. - Wonderful to see were these
cabinets and secretary desks with the intricate inlay works and the chinoisery deco or Japan deco, which was also very popular
in the late 19th century, and very often showing the imagination of the artists, how items from these far east countries might look.
Of course I am not excluding the import of authentic furniture from the far east, but because China and Japan were fascinating the
mostly rich owners of such castles, they wanted to realize their phantasy and longing for the mystic and fascinating Far East.
Thank you dear bro, for sharing this exceptional castle Urbex tour with us viewers. It's only a pity, that such a location is
just left to deteriorate slowly away, which makes me actually quite sad, because treasures of great art historical value are going
to be left to waste forever!
Stay safe, my friend, and take care. Wishing you a very blessed Advent season and a lot of fun together with Maureno on
your grand tour. - Many hugs, peace, blessings and kindest regards from quite cold and wintery Switzerland.

That was such an amazing tour. Such elegant furniture throughout the castle. Made me kind of sad to see everything deteriorated, but I imagined in my head how grand it used to look during better economical times. Thank you so much. I hope one day when it’s renovated by the new owners, you will be able to give us a tour of restoration. That was so cool. Wish I had been there in reality.

It would be interesting to know the history but if they expose the info looters & vandals will have an easier time finding & wrecking the place. They purposely try to keep it unknown because this is highly illegal. We all enjoy seeing these grand places & for most everyone it’s the only way we’re ever going to see these castles. They’ll be turned into expensive hotels or lost forever. This is dangerous but I’m eager to see the amazing architecture & furnishings.

Some parts of the castle look old and modern (bathrooms). I'm surprised there wasn't an elevator installed somewhere. That's a lot of stairs to climb 'lazy me'. I want a shower in the tower! Too cool. Great video!

Your narration of this fabulous castle was very respectful, also you show such respect and appreciation for the very huge range of very valuable antiques. It must have broken their heart to leave their home and leave everything they had created behind . Glad someone has bought it and of course renovate the castle hopefully a hotel so everyone can enjoy it.😃🇦🇺

Your right. Maybe the owners tried to sell some of the beautiful furniture but couldn't get it out of the door. I thought it very odd that there was a lot of valuable dressers, room dividers, a bedroom set, and more piled up at one of the doors. Almost as if waiting for a moving truck to pick it up. But the truck never came. It's all so strange.

Y'all are so lucky to be able to explore these amazing and sometimes once beautiful places, thank you for letting us tag along. I am mostly homebound and not able to travel like I wish I could, so you showing us these estates allows me to see places I could only dream about. It is heartbreaking to see the state of condition some of them are left in and like y'all, I wonder what happened to cause them to just walk away from the home once treasured. Just up and left, something sinister happened, parents pass on and no children to pass it down to, or the children just don't care any more or not able to afford the upkeep a home like this requires? I just request that at the end when you are showing photos and the property from the outside to music, can you not have the music so loud? It's quite loud and jarring and I have to rush to turn it down. That was the only negative thing I need to say. Well, sometimes watching these places and I see the conditions of the floors and the mother in me wants to scream " oh please be careful", they worry me.
