- My life in Tamale, Ghana is a mix of western and local living. This is a day of running errands and figuring out where to get things. A bit of daily life in Ghana.
The center of Tamale is fairly compact so once I arrive in town it's all pretty easy, sort of. I explain in the video. You'll see. The mix of western and African lifestyles is a defining characteristic of my expat life in Ghana.

My hometown nice to see you
I love Tamale. Glad you like the video.
I'm planning a trip to Ghana within the next couple of months. Would love to meet up with you for coffee or maybe even lunch. Thanks for the videos. My family worries about me going there alone, but you make it look easy.
Meeting up sounds great. Keep me posted as your plans develop. And let your family know not to worry. Ghana is pretty easy.
My dear, there is absolutely nothing to worry about. The most peaceful Country in the whole world

Akwaaba (Welcome) to Ghana...🇬🇭
If only there were more people in the world like you and me. what a wonderful world it would be. I’m coming to Ghana to visit a friend for the first time. about a month and a half thank you so much for your videos. I’m coming from Brentwood California And I’m gonna have to get used to that humidity one love
Thank you! I hope you have a great trip to Ghana. If you make it up to Tamale, let me know and maybe we can meet for coffee.
Just browsing and came across your site, what a delight, am in Gambia 👍
Awesome, thank you!
Are you living in The Gambia or just visiting?
Next time I am in Tamale I will try to locate you and find out what makes you love my town. I admire your adventures in Tamale.
Your town is super friendly and a great mix of modern and traditional life. The place is chill and the people here are awesome. What more do I need?
Oh, and yellow-yellows. I love the yellow-yellows. ;-)
Definitely let me know when you'll be in the area.
Watching from London thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
I miss life in Tamale, such a lovely city with loveliest and honest people. Watching all the way from Abu Dhabi.
I love it here, too.
A country with good people Ghana
Yes, absolutely.
Really enjoyed this video. It sort of reminded me of Umuahia in Eastern Nigeria although I was there some 60 years ago. The roads are wider and the cars are fancier and move faster but the hustle and bustle of the markets, the colourful traditional clothes and the friendly people took me right back. Thanks for that.
So cool! A lot of people mention how Northern Ghana has a lot in common with Nigeria.
Tamale is at a very exciting mix between modern and traditional worlds. Sometimes I wish they had a little more modern, but I don't want them to lose the culture and traditions that make this place special.
Really glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching.
Which market is this?
@tokunbookuo6755 it's the Central Market.
If you're asking about the import shop, I don't know the name but it's just across from Stanbic Bank.
I'm glad you are enjoying Ghana's great hospitality and sweet peace in Africa.
Tamale is really a beautiful city.
Don't forget to enjoy More of the rich natural Ghanaian Cuisines like TZ, Waakye, Koose, Banku, Fufu and Kenkey among others...😋🇬🇭
Thanks. I've tried all of those, and they are great.
@@ThisGalTravels
That's so cool to know that.
Well done!👏👏👏😁
Then, you are becoming a Ghanaian soon. 😁😁😁
Enjoy Ghana, we love you...🇬🇭
@@Voavicky thanks!
@@ThisGalTravels
You are welcome...🇬🇭
Try and visit the, best ice-cream shop in Tamale. It's just opposite the stanbik bank. They have one of the best ice cream in Ghana. I will recommend their coconut ice-cream. It's a must try flavor
I agree. I just went there yesterday. I can't have dairy very often, so it's not a regular stop for me, but it is an occasional treat.
Glad you chimed in about it. Hopefully anyone coming here who watches the video will see your comment.
That was a most enjoyable excursion, a very nice taste of Tamale. I love how pleasant and helpful people are, and ready to laugh with you. Thanks for a nice start to my day. 😄
Glad you enjoyed it! There's a reason I love this town.
I love Ghana. I've been twice but only the southern part. I want to visit the Northern part so bad 😫.
The Northern Region is so different from the south. Both are great. I really hope you get a chance to get up north.
If you haven't seen them yet, I have several videos on Tamale and other things to do up north that might inspire you even more.
@@ThisGalTravels where are you now?
@@praytraveleat210 I'm in Accra. I'm touring south of Tamale so I can share the rest of Ghana with everyone.
I've already been to Takoradi, Cape Coast, Kumasi and I have about another week left of filming in Accra. Then it's off to the Volta region before I head back home to Tamale and start editing all the awesome video I've been collecting.
@@ThisGalTravels nice! Keep up the great work, I love your channel! Hope to meet you when I visit Ghana!
Awesome video clip. Thanks.
You're welcome. Glad you like it!
Love your channel ❤️ 💕
Thank you so much!! You rock!
@@ThisGalTravels you rock to! 🙌❤️
I enjoyed watching your video ..Can’t wait to experience
Tamale is awesome, and you'll find the people to be very welcoming and friendly. I hope you have a great time when you visit. Glad you enjoyed the video.
You’re bless
Yes
I kinda want to visit Temale it's the northern part of Ghana, but I heard it's really hot up there. Nice content 👌
But it's a dry heat 😁. Really, it's not that bad most of the time. To avoid the worst heat, avoid coming in March/April.
However, rainy season is very comfortable temperature-wise, about July-October.
The rest of the time is kinda hot but tolerable.
I love Tamale and highly recommend a visit. Glad you liked the video. 😊
Omg a very very nice video
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
We don't have that much coffee because all we need is the heat from the sun😂 not caffeine
🤣🤣🤣
Just stumbled on this channel. Where are you from? The US?
Yes, I'm from Los Angeles.
@@ThisGalTravels And you've been able to adapt this quickly? Or have you lived for about a decade
@@aureliusmarkus9139 definitely not a decade. Seriously, Ghanaians are very friendly and accepting and it's easy to get along here. The level of comfort you see here happened in just a month or two.
You do need to let go of some western ideas of how things should be done. I've been traveling for so long that was pretty easy for me. Early on there were occasional frustrations, but they were minor.
In Ghana there is so much less stress it is easy to accept a more relaxed life. But it's really the people here that make it great.
I will note that this is actually my third time in Ghana, but I don't think that would have made a big difference to my adaptation time. As I said, the people are very welcoming and it's easy to make friends.
If you visit, you'll see what I mean. Ghana will welcome you, too.
@@ThisGalTravels I'm very impressed. Keep it up. It's a wonderful world with beautiful people. You'll only realize it when you travel.
Thank you.
@thisgaltravels I will be spending six months in Tamale and would love to have the opportunity to connect. Please let me know how I can :)

I am Ghanaian living in the United States but I feel so stressed for you watching this video. But you cope so well and so comfortably moving around.
Thank you. But why would you feel stressed for me? Don't worry. Ghana has made me feel entirely welcome.
I find Ghana very easy to navigate - and if I ever get turned around, there's never any shortage of people willing to help me out.
Ghana is awesome.
Why do you want to lie? Look at your slave mentality.
Are you the only person who has been living in the US?
Everyone knows that, living in the US is more stressful than living in Ghana with all the peace we enjoy.
Because she is very real, see how she is enjoying in even Tamale far away from Accra and Kumasi as the big cities in Ghana.
Renew your mind about Ghana or Africa to be objective and allow her to enjoy Ghana...🇬🇭
Go Gal, don't mind him.
Ghana loves you.
Malarone tablets?? Is Standby treatment the best way to go or is it best to take the pills as a prophylactic
Side effects??
Good question.
I'm not fond of the side effects of any of the preventative medicines, especially since I'm here long term, so I don't take them. Now that I've had malaria, it's not that scary. It's just like a bad flu.
If I were going to be far away from medical care for an extended period, I might consider a prophylactic. But here in Tamale I can get tested at the pharmacy, results in 30 minutes and drugs to cure it.
There can be complications and it can turn deadly (just like the flu), but that rarely happens to healthy people with strong immune systems.
@@ThisGalTravels Alright
Yes, I'm going there for two months (Accra) in the dry season, and I don't see why I should take the preventative medicine.
If I feel nauseous/ feverous I will immediately head to the hospital to check and see.
I have consulted my doctor and he says I should take the malarone pills. That's why I'm conflicted ..
Thanks for the answer
@@ParkourFrederik Yeah, you've got to make your own call.
One thing I found out is that even things you don't think of as malaria symptoms, like diarrhea, can be a symptom. I learned this from locals. The trick is not to shrug off feeling icky. The earlier you detect and treat it, the milder the symptoms.
Also, you can get a couple of test kits to take home with you. That way, if you have any suspicions you can check for yourself before heading to the doctor.
I do have a video from when I got malaria, if you're interested: ua-cam.com/video/Y4XrtshLBHw/v-deo.html
Can find good weed there?
I wouldn't know.
Thanks 😊
You are now a minority, true or false?
True. I'm a minority pretty much everywhere I travel.
@ThisGalTravels, it's good to travel. We all God's children and Ghana makes it easier
@@jenniferturkson278 Ghana definitely makes it easier.
