  • Join director and cast as they discuss their film "High-Rise." Based on JG Ballard's 1975 novel, and directed by Ben Wheatley, the film stars Tom Hiddleston as Dr. Robert Laing, the newest resident of a luxurious apartment in a high-tech concrete skyscraper whose lofty location places him amongst the upper class. Laing quickly settles into high society life and meets the building’s eccentric tenants. Life seems like paradise to Laing, but as power outages become more frequent and building flaws emerge, the regimented social strata begins to crumble and the building becomes a battlefield in a literal class war. Interview at AOL in NYC for AOL BUILD.

    The thing that is so captivating about Tom Hiddleston is that he has such a nice manner about him, he is very well presented and is clearly a highly intelligent man (which is obvious as Cambridge alumni). This comes without mentioning his acting talent, but I think his role as an actor mixed with his intelligence can seriously influence people, as shown with his humanitarian links etc.

    God thank you for Tom Hiddleston with glasses....Jesus Christ he is intelligent, handsome and absolut charming, one of the nicest people in the business. And of course, he can sing, dance, play the guitar, speak multiple languages...

    Saw this film back at TIFF and loved it. The psychology behind each person, and the cracks breaking down are completely representative of human nature and how even the most "together" people can break down in the right situations. Now I'm reading the book and am going to have to watch again after I finish it.

    What I learned by watching this video: 1) Tom Hiddleston is incredibly smart. 2) Even Luke Evans isn't able to diminish my hatred for men who wear shoes without socks.

    The movie is cheesy yet creepy. The colours and tones in the movie is very interesting and surreal. The makeup is great; I can’t remember Luke Evans in the movie because of the makeup.
    Tom is fantastic as usual. His answers are so enlightened. AND he knows how to tell the story interestingly without spoiling it.

    This interview helped me understand the movie. I never watch trailers or promos before watching a movie so I had no idea what I was getting into. There are elements that I absolutely hated, but I think that just shows how well they dipicted the human condition.

    I am here just because of Taylor's new relationship with Tom. Shamelessly, I've searched for his usual manners to figure out what type of a guy he really is. Honestly, he is fucking sexy, kind, humble, gentle, caring, positive and a lot more on my blind sight. I wish he will be the next 007.

    Quite an enjoyable discussion on "High-Rise" guys, sensibly appreciated for having it posted indeed, am already looking forward to watch it on the big screen, hopefully it shall be distributed world-wide as it must and maybe thanks to Loki's fame we might also be able to watch it in Mexico and all LatinAmerica: Loki please open that "wormhole" you mentioned ◠♥◠in order for us to see that cinematic spectacle if aliens help us to download it for possible projection unto our cave's walls, will you dear? Am savouring also every glint-sparkling word Mr. Hiddleston emits to describe fabulous Mr. Ballard's novel "High-Rise" in an attempt to make us realize how our human condition's proclivity tends to focus selfishly on "the cracks in the plaster" and not on what we should be focusing about as one humankind experiencing life upon this planet: our very same aims, struggles and likeness in the pursuit for happiness º namaste 25 04 2016

    Y'all gonna be real surprised by what Tom Hiddleston thinks is the right role for himself, and frankly, I think he's exactly the right person for dark and dystopian. I don't know the author or Ben Wheatley, but I'm kind of sorry, and I think I need to correct that. It sounds kind of Pulp Fiction/Minority Report, got-to-watch-it-more-than-once-to-understand-it good.

    Happiness Films. I'll write one and get Wheatley to direct. Actually on second thought we have happiness films: they're called pornography. Everybody fucks, everybody's happy, and everybody comes and comes again, or at least the performers do.

      because it is boring to do so, the 50s and 40s have done it.... people aren't interested in what they know or perfect characters anymore.... they want more complexity more duality etc...

    • @AvecPoesie
      @AvecPoesie 4 роки тому +1

      In all honesty, most "nice people films" produced in this day and age are geared specifically toward Christian audiences. Even children's films are replete with a traditional antagonist character. I agree with the other comment, in that, the complexity of the human condition is more evident and thus more interesting to watch when we see characters failing at being "nice people."
