- Join director and cast as they discuss their film "High-Rise." Based on JG Ballard's 1975 novel, and directed by Ben Wheatley, the film stars Tom Hiddleston as Dr. Robert Laing, the newest resident of a luxurious apartment in a high-tech concrete skyscraper whose lofty location places him amongst the upper class. Laing quickly settles into high society life and meets the building’s eccentric tenants. Life seems like paradise to Laing, but as power outages become more frequent and building flaws emerge, the regimented social strata begins to crumble and the building becomes a battlefield in a literal class war. The thing that is so captivating about Tom Hiddleston is that he has such a nice manner about him, he is very well presented and is clearly a highly intelligent man (which is obvious as Cambridge alumni). This comes without mentioning his acting talent, but I think his role as an actor mixed with his intelligence can seriously influence people, as shown with his humanitarian links etc.
What the fuck are you on about?
I love how Tom puts his glasses back on so he can see who is asking the question
God thank you for Tom Hiddleston with glasses....Jesus Christ he is intelligent, handsome and absolut charming, one of the nicest people in the business. And of course, he can sing, dance, play the guitar, speak multiple languages...
Where do men like him come from?
Anna Schmitt Cambridge. No, Britain. They breed men like that there.
Anna Schmitt heaven, they come from heaven.
Well, originally Joutenhiem but raised in Asgard...
Mannnn, I could listen Tom talking about this forever
Saw this film back at TIFF and loved it. The psychology behind each person, and the cracks breaking down are completely representative of human nature and how even the most "together" people can break down in the right situations. Now I'm reading the book and am going to have to watch again after I finish it.
While everyone else he promoting the movie , Tom is discussing philosophy. This Man..!!❤️
Came for Tom Hiddleston, stayed for Ben Wheatley, what a cracking sense of humour. Hilarious and interesting from all involved - great interview. Great audience questions too. Nice upload - thanks
Tom Hiddleston in glasses 👌🏼😍👌🏼😍
Laney Francis I call him the fearless fly hahahaha 😂🤣
i love how every time Tom's legs are crossed the one on top sticks way out cause he's so tall lol
Those grey boots that Tom is wearing must be his faves. I've seen so many different SAG interviews or other press and he's always wearing them
What I learned by watching this video: 1) Tom Hiddleston is incredibly smart. 2) Even Luke Evans isn't able to diminish my hatred for men who wear shoes without socks.
Desiderium Scriptor Really like the fact u notice wearing shoes without socks as inelegant and improper but ofcourse unless a "little" exception hits
Tom Hiddleston adjusting his glasses as he speaks like an absent-minded professor...but a very sexy one...He's just amazing...#tomhiddleston
The movie is cheesy yet creepy. The colours and tones in the movie is very interesting and surreal. The makeup is great; I can’t remember Luke Evans in the movie because of the makeup.
Tom is fantastic as usual. His answers are so enlightened. AND he knows how to tell the story interestingly without spoiling it.
This interview helped me understand the movie. I never watch trailers or promos before watching a movie so I had no idea what I was getting into. There are elements that I absolutely hated, but I think that just shows how well they dipicted the human condition.
Is it just me or do Tom's eyes sparkle in this interview?
I love the “IT'S MY PAINT!" scene. Uproarious as hell!😂😂😂😂
excellent specimen indeed......
Tom hiddlestone what a specimen 😍😍😍
High-Rise was my first Ballard novel.
Can’t stop recommending his books and the interviews he released ❤
He looks so attractive with his glasses on. How are we not talking about his glasses or see it as often?
Tom Hiddleston 💕
randomly dropping some love for Luke in the comments
I am here just because of Taylor's new relationship with Tom. Shamelessly, I've searched for his usual manners to figure out what type of a guy he really is. Honestly, he is fucking sexy, kind, humble, gentle, caring, positive and a lot more on my blind sight. I wish he will be the next 007.
Aaaand..... a Hiddlestoner now? Welcome to the gang :)
One of us... one of us...
What's the difference between Nemo and Loki? Nemo's father went looking for him. Part of the ship, part of the crew.
GLASSES!!!!!! CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE GLASSES!?
Fire the sound guy.

Quite an enjoyable discussion on "High-Rise" guys, sensibly appreciated for having it posted indeed, am already looking forward to watch it on the big screen, hopefully it shall be distributed world-wide as it must and maybe thanks to Loki's fame we might also be able to watch it in Mexico and all LatinAmerica: Loki please open that "wormhole" you mentioned ◠♥◠in order for us to see that cinematic spectacle if aliens help us to download it for possible projection unto our cave's walls, will you dear? Am savouring also every glint-sparkling word Mr. Hiddleston emits to describe fabulous Mr. Ballard's novel "High-Rise" in an attempt to make us realize how our human condition's proclivity tends to focus selfishly on "the cracks in the plaster" and not on what we should be focusing about as one humankind experiencing life upon this planet: our very same aims, struggles and likeness in the pursuit for happiness º namaste 25 04 2016
I love Luke and I agree, that his character as Bard was the best and most meaningful role in his movies, although I haven't seen all.
Of all the Tom Hiddleston Interviews ive watched i just noticed Tom talks ALOT when asked a quesiton. lol But I Love Him
Elizabeth Moss 💕
Luke + Tom = Fatality for my poor tiny heart lol!
Tom, "You should see it on the biggest screen that you can", Sienna, "And Tom's naked in it". mmmmmm whatever can she mean? #tomhiddleston
Y'all gonna be real surprised by what Tom Hiddleston thinks is the right role for himself, and frankly, I think he's exactly the right person for dark and dystopian. I don't know the author or Ben Wheatley, but I'm kind of sorry, and I think I need to correct that. It sounds kind of Pulp Fiction/Minority Report, got-to-watch-it-more-than-once-to-understand-it good.
melissa thompson you don’t know J G Ballard? Fuck me rigid.
I have never seen or heard of this movie, now I have to.
Wonderful! Thanks!
Is there a reason this one is only available in 1080 HD? I don't recall any of the others I've watched not having low quality options, and I really don't like the drain on my computer. Any chance you could make it available in 720 or 480?
Why is the audio so bad in this otherwise great interview 🥺
Everyone: Lets where navy and not tell Ben
The most weirdest movie ive ever watched, i couldnt finish it in one go i had to watch over a few days as it got too heavy especially Luke's character. Such a compelling terrifying performance.
Whoever does the sound for this show needs to be fired.
Did the actors combine to wear purple?
The “broken window” theory has been disproven at great length …. Strange he’s referring to that …
Guys I think it’s his paint
Ok, now I want "moderately talented and kind" on my obit....
Why is Sienna drinking so much water?
+MsUsagi513 or really nervous, this happens to me, so embarrassing.
Is this the real Jim Norton.
Sitting between Luke and Tom, she got thirsty. I don't blame her.
Jim Norton's Alcoholism how can she not when she is sitting between Tommy & Luke, it must be very hot
To be Sienna would be a dream
I've thought this for so long!
I have tyrannical aspirations.... Baha 😂
extremely bad interview, take charge man!
Happiness Films. I'll write one and get Wheatley to direct. Actually on second thought we have happiness films: they're called pornography. Everybody fucks, everybody's happy, and everybody comes and comes again, or at least the performers do.
Why is he wearing glasses?? He doesn't need them....wait then he takes them off?? what did he have them on for then?
I can't say for sure, but he does wear them on and off...He could be like me and doesn't need them most of the time but in cases where he's tired or been reading a lot of things (especially looking at really far away things) they help his eyes not feel so tired?
He is near sighted. He has said in the past that he needed them to see to come out on stage and took them off and couldn't really see the crowd.
Why can't we make movies about nice people? Hey, thats a novel idea! Why must films always be about nasty people? Hey filmmakers, take that on for a challenge! #nicepeoplefilms
because it is boring to do so, the 50s and 40s have done it.... people aren't interested in what they know or perfect characters anymore.... they want more complexity more duality etc...
In all honesty, most "nice people films" produced in this day and age are geared specifically toward Christian audiences. Even children's films are replete with a traditional antagonist character. I agree with the other comment, in that, the complexity of the human condition is more evident and thus more interesting to watch when we see characters failing at being "nice people."
