Del Toro is a visionary genius, he adds poetry, delicacy and depth to his beautiful, gothic fairytales. He celebrates the imperfection of our world, what a master.
I love the point Guillermo del Toro makes at 35:15, about how today, being sincere and vulnerable is seen as stupidity, and only scepticism and aloofness are seen as cool and smart. So, so true.
I would LOVE to see this cast in more Guillermo del Toro films. he is my favorite director and I have so much respect for the cast, they were fantastic. I will never get enough of his Dark Fairy Tales.
im usually not a fan of horror but this film was beyond beautiful, each character is extremely complex and can't be truly understood until the end of the movie basically. This is going down in the list of most iconic horror films ever
rania ebonyluna Yeah that's basically it, they were expecting a scary horror movie where the ghosts were going to advance the plot, they also thought the plot and characters were boring. It seems like everyone missed the symbolism and metaphors that are specifically mentioned in the first few scenes
Ian Levinson there was nothing boring about the characters...we are used to easy entertainment and we can't use our brains to understand deeper meanings (not that this movie was difficult to understand)..it was a heart braking movie.
I hate horror movies but this movie is very beautiful. The set, the shoot, and the acting are really lovely and awesome. I also love the symbolism in the movie (Butterfly/moth, the contrasting colors, etc) Guillermo was right, having to hate on the villain on a movie was easy and it was boring. But to get the audience to sympathize with the villains and actually felt conflicted about the villain takes some skill. (Sorry for the messy english)
Nadine T It's the opposite of heroine! Do you speak English or what? You must be American or something lol. Tell me, have you heard of villain and hero? That would be the male form, the female form would be villainess and heroine...ffs you Americans make the language more stupid by the day.
i wish the girl had asked Jessica about her character because Lucille is a full serial killer (she even keeps souvenirs -- hair -- from her victims), but she does that out of love for Thomas so it would be interesting to hear her talk about that
Interviews get so much more interesting and engaging when the cast can talk freely without having to worry about spoiling. I have watched numerous interviews for this movie because I had so many questions after watching it, and in all the other interviews the group couldn't go too far or fully discussed the topic because they couldn't spoil. I enjoy this interview so much! They answered the questions so thoughtfully and in-depth, and even led me to have a further appreciation of the film.
She seemed uncomfortable in her dress, she kept glancing at it and she was not as vocal as the other three. Notice she uncomfortably kept staring down away from the crowd.
I studied Gothic Horror in college. I'm a big fan of horror movies in general. I was so excited to see this movie. It is so unlike anything else that is happening right now.
24:58 Jessica: Lucile, the longer she is in the house, the bigger she gets; even with her clothing... GDT: That happened to me too. *everyones chuckles* So glad this man already won an oscar and is getting the love and recognition he deserves.
This is such a nice strange corner of the internet, where people in interviews are articulated and talk pationately about their craft and surprisingly empowering for women gothic horror romance stories. I'm sold, Crimson Peak is a really good film and that's due to the care and thought it was put into it.
Almost irrespective of his profession and talent, Guillermo is one of the most engaging speakers i've ever heard. That English is not his mother tongue makes it all the more impressive. He speaks with the most fantastic insight, curiosity, warmth and almost poetic articulation. Utterly absorbing thinker/speaker and an adorable human being withal.
I couldn’t keep my eyes off of Tom (he’s so fine!) But I couldn’t get enough of Guillermo as well; his dark whimsy, eloquence, and unique artistry were so captivating!
I'm not a fan of horror movies. At all. The only reason I saw the movie was Jessica Chastain. I love her and I heard she was doing an exellent acting. When you see the trailer, you are not expecting a love story. So with my interest in acting I went and saw the movie. And I fell in love with it. This was actually the first movie I saw from Guillermo and it was admirable for me. His movies are different than others. In interviews you see he really loves what he's doing and he also has an answer to all the questions so he has a lot of information to tell people. That's what's fascinating to me. As well it was the first gothic romance I've ever seen. The characters are so deep and beautiful even though two of them are killing people but you understand why they are doing all the things they do and you kinda feel sorry for them. So I was compassionate especially about Lucille. Guillermo, Jessica, Tom and Mia were doing a really really great job.
This film was amazing....and I have to say it is one of my favourite Gothic Romances alongside Wuthering Heights and A Sicillian Romance...Good film to watch for my English Literature course too #Bonus....btw Tom's voice is something I can listen to all day long..... ❤❤❤❤😏
I completely agree with Jessica Chastain's interpretation of Thomas Sharp. Fall of the House of Usher was the first thing I thought of when seeing the house for the first time. This movie was absolutely stunning, I could watch it all day.
Hearing Tom Hiddleston talking about how beautiful and real the set in "Crimson Peak" is makes me feel even more excited for the reboot of "The Haunted Mansion" that Guillermo del Toro's currently working on.
My dream is to be a film director as good (or if i can be better) as Guillermo, he's a genius and you can see and feel he loves what he's doing :D and does it very well!
This came out right as I was starting film school, and I think if I had actually followed through on seeing this movie, my course in film would have been different.
i can't stand how the interviewer keeps laughing at random moments. she keeps laughing at the end of her questions even though her questions aren't meant to be funny. it's so awkward.
+Anozira Erised I was annoyed at how she talked too much. I could also tell she was nervous...mostly addressing del Toro and forgetting to let the actors speak.
+nenabunena there were quite a bit of things going wrong with the hosting, such as the way the questions were asked. At times it seemed to me like she didn't ask the right questions to elicit from the guests all the aspects of the film so she ended up saying too much.
This interview would have been so much better with a host who didn't awkwardly laugh at her own jokes and was capable of intelligent follow up questions.
I really enjoyed the movie. I think it was great, the visual effects, and specially the acting, it was spot on! I loved how the actors captured the complexity of the characters with their portrayals in each scene. I gotta say that Tom's peformance was seriously great, you could sense Thomas vulnerability and guilt through the entire film.
I don't understand why so many critics said the movie looked really good but lacked substance, or that the characters were under written or underdeveloped. Like. How? This movie moved me to the point where I'm still haunted by it weeks later.
+HootyDesu Maybe the critics were, like a lot of people, disappointed that it wasn't the full on horror film the trailer made it out to be. And their disappointment colored their judgement. I greatly admire Del Toro's work, so I know his style, & my friend told me it's more gothic romance than horror. So I knew going in what to expect. And I was really blown away.
critics gives shitty movies like the Conjuring or Insidious or Paranormal Activity great reviews, when they don't really happen to scare me at all. Crimson Peak looks like one true scary ass movie and that's why I am obliged to go see it or probably rent it and see it myself, alone in the dark to make it seem more scary than usual.
Damien Delatorre It's not really a scary horror film, it's more of a dark romance, with good mood, characters, & story. So don't expect to be scared & you might really like it. I'm curious to know your reaction.
Guillermo Del Toro: “Finally, we finished a masterpiece. Now, we only have to give it to our distributors to get people to watch it. I hope they don’t screw it up by marketing it as a horror movie...”
+nenabunena I think she is just introverted, as opposed to both Tom and Jessica being more or less extroverted. As much as I have seen of her, she really can be more talkative and quite funny, when she feels comfortable with the host or comes acros a subject that interests her.
+nenabunena She was better in the interview at AOL Build. I agree with the others; Mia is just introverted and is more comfortable with a smaller audience.
Have seen the movie 3 times in theaters. I LOVE IT! Chastian hit it out of the park. I agree that Thomas was a little selfish, but I think that I might be alone in that. It's weird, but I was kind've rooting for Lucille.
+Autumn Henderson-Brazie No, you are not the only one, I've read that a lot in reviews and twitter comments. Many people didn't like the ending, anyway.
I like how Guillermo states .. Parent are the roots of all disgraces. I think this couldn't ring more true with Lucille and Thomas. Perhaps their mother kept them away, hidden because of her anger regarding her abusive and absent husband. In the meanwhile creating sociopathic behavior in her children. It's truly awful and heartbreaking. But as a parallel, where she appears to Edith in the corridor, I find it Ironic because the blood of her own children were on her own hands before her own murder. If that makes sense? Anyway, this was my personal takeaway on this particular aspect of the film. Love your children, protect them, get them the help they need before they endure a life of hurt and pain because no one understands them.
Oh my goodness! I thought so too! I just watched the movie and Eva Green came to mind when watching Lucille. I think if it was a Tim Burton film, Eva Green would no doubt be Lucille.
Interviewers uptalk, awkward laughing, and incessant need to please Del Toro and the cast made this really uncomfortable to watch at points. She needs to relax.
I felt the same, I was comparing it with Pans Labyrinth and with the trailer and it didn't meet my expectations somehow. Maybe less ghosts and more advertising of the relationship between Lucille and Edith would have changed the reception in general... On a second glance, Lucilles character is still in my head, weeks after watching the film, which is a good thing for a film.
31.22 Tom all serious about the character's sexuality then the ruthless Guillermo! 😅 He made Tom and Mia a little uncomfortable. But thank you so much for that scene.
So I was bringing Tom, all the Avengers stuff n independent interviews for talk shows n panels(what not🙄), n no one came close to his charm....but here he is Guillermo 😱😱 what Loki beats him in charm, he makes up with his comedy for it 🔥. I don't find jokes funny, but when a person spins normal talk 🤯 I'm done for 😭💀
yo, I heard my friend say that this movie was creepy as fuck. I want to see this movie bad, I love Del Toro's work. My favorite movies from him are Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy, Mimic and Pacific Rim.
I would love to ask him why the ghost scenes share so many similarities with P.T., but I'm afraid Konami would wipe this video out of existence if he answered.
I loved this interview. But, you all need a better transcriber for your subtitles. I noticed a lot of errors. Should you all need some one to transcribe for you, I wouldn't mind. (lol, as if you'd ever ask me)
I think he was loosening his belt. He looked uncomfortable in the beginning like it was squeezing into his belly or something. But I too was like „Tom? What you doing there?! 😮😂“
The trailer of this movie was far better edited as compared to the whole movie itself. It's supposed to be Gothic Romance. The undercurrent that the music should've brought was missing the tension in direction progression was missing. The emotional distress that should have been portrayed by actors was missing. No wonder it was a box office flop.
Del Toro is a visionary genius, he adds poetry, delicacy and depth to his beautiful, gothic fairytales. He celebrates the imperfection of our world, what a master.
ShiningGirl - Of Sounds and Visions
That was beautifully put
I can't believe how heck-bent they were on making this about "OMGGGGG!!!!!!!GIRLLLLLPOWERRRRRR!!!!!!!!" SJWs are the WORST.
Good heavens. I'm still watching this--how in the world could Hiddleston even STAND sitting there listening to these morons?
"The longer Lucille is in the house, the bigger she gets. -"
Guillermo :"That happened to me too." lol I enjoy this man so much and his amazing work.
25:00 😉👍
I love how Guillermo always points at Mia to talk, like a proud father, because he knows she's a bit quieter than the rest.
I´m crying because Guillermo is such a beautiful nerd. He deserves all the success and praise.
it's really nice hearing guillermo speak, he seems very interesting and smart
***** yes, that too
He totally is! ;)
+brendahaus What did you expect? He is a great director/writer
Adi Adrian you can be great at something and not great otherwise
*****
Yes but you can't be a good writer and not to know how to speak or be interesting or smart
9:32
Tom: Sorry, you go Guillermo. You have more interesting things to say.
Guillermo: You have better accent.
+Danyel Yogi just saw it yesterday and i couldn't agree more with you.one of the best gothic stories ever told.
I agree that the movie was amazing, but a lot of people hated it so I wouldn't say it will become a horror classic
Ian Levinson what was there to hate?it's a gothic story not a splatter thriller...maybe they didn't know what they were going to watch...i loved it
rania ebonyluna Yeah that's basically it, they were expecting a scary horror movie where the ghosts were going to advance the plot, they also thought the plot and characters were boring. It seems like everyone missed the symbolism and metaphors that are specifically mentioned in the first few scenes

+Nadine T Well I love this film as well but I dont think its a horror film. (at least not quite a scary one
I almost cried because of a scene in the movie, that's how easily scared i was lol but yeah, other than that, it wasn't that scary
+Nadine T No villainess in this movie?
+knut761 Villainess?
Nadine T It's the opposite of heroine! Do you speak English or what? You must be American or something lol. Tell me, have you heard of villain and hero? That would be the male form, the female form would be villainess and heroine...ffs you Americans make the language more stupid by the day.
Love both Tom and Guillermo. Hope to see them collaborate many more times in the future.
Being a button on Thomas' shirt must be very straining. I can hear the buttons go: It's a hard knock life, hard knock...
ha-ha. This comment made my day!
+emily yarbrough yes!!!! me too!!!! ^_^
+Miouwee Looks like Loki's really pumping up.
Miouwee He might have been working out for Skull Island. He started filming that in the fall of 2015.
So it wasn't only me looking at his chest then...
I literally can listen Tom Hiddleston talking for hours
If Jessica Chastain and Tom Hiddleston had a child, that kid would be soooooooo perfect.
True dat, so adorable and cute I imagine.
The irony of that omg
@I will do the fortnite dance on u In Crimson Peak Tom & Jessica are siblings and they have a kid together 😐
And the kid's obviously not born right
@I will do the fortnite dance on u lmao
i wish the girl had asked Jessica about her character because Lucille is a full serial killer (she even keeps souvenirs -- hair -- from her victims), but she does that out of love for Thomas so it would be interesting to hear her talk about that

Mia seems so shy
even in her movies
Introverted
+kismetau She is introverted. That's why Tim Burton chose her to play Alice in Alice in the wonderland
She seemed uncomfortable in her dress, she kept glancing at it and she was not as vocal as the other three. Notice she uncomfortably kept staring down away from the crowd.
She seems to be JUST LIKE the characters she plays hahahah funny because explains a little why they cast her
I would give up my firstborn to see this man direct an adaptation of Wuthering Heights.
Or of ''the last man'' by Mary Shelley
I studied Gothic Horror in college. I'm a big fan of horror movies in general. I was so excited to see this movie. It is so unlike anything else that is happening right now.
24:58

"all the mistakes that exist in the world initiate in childhood." (34:45)
Great film, great cast, Jessica Chastain is perfect in every sense, and Guillermo del Toro is a genius.
I couldn’t keep my eyes off of Tom (he’s so fine!) But I couldn’t get enough of Guillermo as well; his dark whimsy, eloquence, and unique artistry were so captivating!
crimson peak is so underrated. and thomas deserved better and it's so sad how lucille groomed and brainwashed him:(
I'm not a fan of horror movies. At all. The only reason I saw the movie was Jessica Chastain. I love her and I heard she was doing an exellent acting. I just want to watch Tom because he's gorgeous ahaha
I came for Jessica.
I was in tears at the end of this movie, it's so emotional. It's so well done and honestly, I think everything really worked.
Sooooo much love for the film and all its components!! Guillermo is amazingly detailed & so inspiring.
It's probably the most beautiful movie I've ever seen.
I have completely fallen in love with this movie
Jessica Chastain looks mesmerizing
Jessica was so Evil and Disturbed in a beautiful way in this film
Believe me i saw that movie 24 times
37:55 for everyone that say this was a bad horror movie
Hearing Tom Hiddleston talking about how beautiful and real the set in "Crimson Peak" is makes me feel even more excited for the reboot of "The Haunted Mansion" that Guillermo del Toro's currently working on.
This is a comment so you can reminisce on your optimism
My dream is to be a film director as good (or if i can be better) as Guillermo, he's a genius and you can see and feel he loves what he's doing :D and does it very well!
This came out right as I was starting film school, and I think if I had actually followed through on seeing this movie, my course in film would have been different.
I love the move; love the main character Tom and Edith they have such chemistry
Guillermo del Toro is funny af, great personality and smart too
i can't stand how the interviewer keeps laughing at random moments. she keeps laughing at the end of her questions even though her questions aren't meant to be funny. it's so awkward.
+Anozira Erised What Sassa said... I mean, Tom Hiddleston is a bit of a hottie.
+Anozira Erised I think she was just nervous.
+ilovesparky13 yea I mean I would be nervous if I was in the same room as Tom 😂
+Anozira Erised I was annoyed at how she talked too much. I could also tell she was nervous...mostly addressing del Toro and forgetting to let the actors speak.
+Mrs.Apple She must be new.
I just want to say they did an amazing job! Now this is one of my favorite films
I Like how they interupte each other and apolegize then countinue interupting😂
I'm not liking the host for some reason. I feel like she doesn't understand nor know much about the gothic genre
***** yeah, perhaps you're right
+nenabunena there were quite a bit of things going wrong with the hosting, such as the way the questions were asked. At times it seemed to me like she didn't ask the right questions to elicit from the guests all the aspects of the film so she ended up saying too much.
This interview would have been so much better with a host who didn't awkwardly laugh at her own jokes and was capable of intelligent follow up questions.
Agreed. Despised this host. Shes so high on her own farts its insane.

I HAVE TO THANK HIS STYLIST FOR CHOOSING THAT SHIRT FOR TOM
I really enjoyed the movie. I think it was great, the visual effects, and specially the acting, it was spot on! +HootyDesu Critics are just people who write about their opinions. What's more important is how You feel about the film.
I'm aware of my feelings about the film, as well as the role of a critic. What I don't understand is how so many came to the same conclusion.
+HootyDesu Maybe the critics were, like a lot of people, disappointed that it wasn't the full on horror film the trailer made it out to be. And their disappointment colored their judgement. Wonderful director and cast - just sublime!
Mia looks so out of place, is she just shy and an introvert or is she not as close to the other two like Hiddleston and Chastain seem to be?
+nenabunena I think she is just introverted, as opposed to both Tom and Jessica being more or less extroverted. As much as I have seen of her, she really can be more talkative and quite funny, when she feels comfortable with the host or comes acros a subject that interests her.
Chezarcat she probably comes out more if it's one on one or she's with others less extroverted like tom & jess
+nenabunena She was better in the interview at AOL Build. I agree with the others; Mia is just introverted and is more comfortable with a smaller audience.
+nenabunena she seems shy
12:30
That reaction💕😂😂😂
surprised them buttons didn't burst half way through
guellirmo is a very intelligent man
Dao dien tai gioi wa ,b/g tim xem dc nhung phim nay hay rat hiem
am I the only one who noticed Tom playing with his belt :-P
I really really want Del Toro to work with Tim Burton!!
GENIO GUILLERMO DEL TORO!
Have seen the movie 3 times in theaters. I LOVE IT! Chastian hit it out of the park. I agree that Thomas was a little selfish, but I think that I might be alone in that. It's weird, but I was kind've rooting for Lucille.

your pfp is silent planet!! i love silent planet 🤟🏽
jessica chasten is fantastic in this movie but i can't help but think that eva green would have been the perfect choice
I'm proud of Guillermo Del Toro. Mexican pride!
beautiful movie, hopefully people goes to the movies and watch it!!
Uncle Silas with Jean Simmons which Del Tore mentions as a book to read, film is here on youtube.
Thanks. I’d love to see it
am I the only one who thought lucille's dress looked like a werewolf statue?!
it scared tf out of me for a moment.
I thought the same thing. You are not alone.
Anyone notice Tom fixing his belt?!
when?!
+sasam_ around 7:49, you can see him messing around with it.
Guillermo es un chingon 💪🏾💪🏾
32:15. thats the comment. Im fucking Dead ya’ll🤣
This was at Google headquarters? I'm soo sad I didn't know about this esp since it's just around the corner from where I live T-T
BOBBY SINGER?! he is probably there to hunt a supernatural creature 👀👀
The movie did lack substance if i compare it to pans labyrinth which i think was a masterpiece but visually it was trully beautiful and enchanting
Shame no parallels were drawn between this movie and "Stoker" with Mia Wasikowska.
31.22 Tom all serious about the character's sexuality then the ruthless Guillermo! 😅
He made Tom and Mia a little uncomfortable.
Just watched this. Great movie love it
thanks for the Uncle Silas recommendation Guillermo :)
TE AMO GUILLERMO
Okay don't you think Tom looked so side-tracked than usual?
This reminds me of The Fall of the House of Usher!!!!! XDDD
yo, I heard my friend say that this movie was creepy as fuck.
I want to see this movie bad, I love Del Toro's work.
My favorite movies from him are Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy, Mimic and Pacific Rim.
Where. Oh oh oh where can i see a film full FREE FILM. ??
I would love to ask him why the ghost scenes share so many similarities with P.T., but I'm afraid Konami would wipe this video out of existence if he answered.
Tom's stylist must've felt bad bc his shirt seemed way too tight and the buttons looked like they were about to burst. Yeesh
Jessica is beautiful :)
The host was the coolest person in that room !!
I loved this interview. But, you all need a better transcriber for your subtitles. I noticed a lot of errors. Should you all need some one to transcribe for you, I wouldn't mind. (lol, as if you'd ever ask me)
7:49 what is he doing
I think he was loosening his belt. He looked uncomfortable in the beginning like it was squeezing into his belly or something. But I too was like „Tom? What you doing there?! 😮😂“
I love 2:21 the look. I love Tom Hiddleston
What was the name of the first movie Guillermo del toro saw when he was 4 years old? I couldn't understand what he said......Thanks!
Mariana G. Wuthering Heights
great talk but the host is intolerable laughing at her own jokes.
Tom's hair in the movie suited him better
redrumax any hair suites him, except no hair. but if anyone can make bald sexy, it's Tom Hiddleston.
9.55 mark Tom's shirt!
still a little sour over the cancellation of silent hill though! he's so insightful and knowledgeable.
I'm just not brave enough to watch this movie.
Aegon the Whatever!! Bryce Dallas Howard is a great actress as demonstrated by The Village, The Help and The Lars VanTrier novie Manderlay!
