40 years ago, when I was in high school, I participated in this festival. I'm a 57-year-old man now. The festival was a lineup of White Snake, Michael Schenker Group, Bon Jovi who was still a newcomer at the time, ANVIL in Canada, and a dream. Of course, my purpose was Scorpions. That hot summer is my best memory.
From Tokyo
I'm your age. We used to make fun of Bon Jovi because he was "just a rock star" while the others were "musicians," whatever that meant. My wife was 2 in 1984. She's been to 45 Bon Jovi concerts as a 13 year old to as a mom. She has no appreciation for the Scorps, and Bon Jovi was the last man standing. What the heck do I know? I thought the IBM Selectric typewriter would live forever once this computer fad passed. 😂😂😂
My first scorps album love at first sting! Jon bon Jovi is a sold out Biden supporter that can't sing anymore! Still time to repent Jon. God bless you fellow rocker! Jesus saves!
I am 67/68 april 3
That's Rudolph Schenker (Michael 's brother)and Mathias Jabbs on lead. 4:11
Saw nearly that same line up in Texas sometime before or after this. I think every live concert the Scorpions did were always some of the best live performances up there with Rush, Triumph, April Wine and a few more. Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, The Who could not touch Scorpions live in concert. Not even close. Rush still unbeatable but I love the Scorpions. Oh Ronnie James Dio with Rainbow was in this level of great concert performances.
Stadiums aren't easy to sound good in. This is really excellent!
say what you want---this is by far the best version of the scorpions---one bad ass crew!!!
Monsters of Rock was a good tour for them too, in 1988/9
100 %
Totally agree!
Best their line up
No enormous stage, no fancy pyros, no wireless in-ear-monitors, just a wall of Marshalls ja primal passion. I dig it.
Well this was a festival show with 4 other bands.
Wait, in-ear monitors are bad now?
And a huge Fan blowing Klaus´ hair
One of the best Live Bands in the 80s
Absolutely. The Scorpions always great in concert. Consistent. Highly talented. Enthusiastic and really seemed to love their fans. We always felt that here in Texas when Scorpions came through. Houston was a good city for Scorpions. Still I bet.
they had already been doing it since the Early 70s ,, theyve been around a LONG LONG TIME :)
They'll be around FOREVER in my Heart and Mind
My first Concert was the Monsters of Rock tour at Los Angeles Colosseum August 1988.
Kingdom Come
Dokken
Metallica
Scorpions..
and Van Halen headlining.
Amazing show... and the Scorps were on fire.
Cheers!
I was there too. What a great 9 hours of rock that was!
I was there July 1988 Alpine Valley Wisconsin Woooooo Awesome
One of the greatest live albums I've ever heard.
These guys were at the top of their games here, without a doubt
Never seenmor heard of them not being on TOP OF THEIR GAME.
THE WORLD AS WELL.
Masters since day ONE. 🔥💥😎😎
One of the Greatest Rock n Roll bands of all time! My Opinion 😁
Easily, yes. Klaus’ voice was a gift from the Rock Gods
@@CapoKabarasí mismo es pienso lo mismo Klaus tiene una voz única muy díficil de imitar 😂
One of the best and most underrated metal/hard rock bands ever.
I dont know if you can say they are underrated. Cuz they are one of the richest band.
@@luuji5253 Despite their significant success, many only recall Scorpions for their hits "Still Loving You" and "Winds of Change," overlooking their profound influence as pioneers of metal and their immense musical prowess.
best scorpions lineup ever
I prefer Uli's "out of tune", weird solos.
@@dr.juerdotitsgo5119 both are great 👍🏻
I loved Uli’s style of playing, but I prefer to watch and listen to Jabs live performance.
Long hair, high tops, chain hanging off your hip, Levi jacket with a huge Scorpions patch on the back. Those were the days !!
Herman's drums sound so damn good, 😊 Francie's bass too!! 🤘🏼🎸🥁
🤣🤣🤣wirklich einfältig der Trommler.
Francis proving that you can rule the world with a P bass
The bass on this mix is INCREDIBLE. Love it. 🤘
yes its awesome!!!!!
Totally agree. First thing I noticed.
Made in Japan sound
@@AntonioTorres-mo8bp Definitely above the typical stadium sound recordings of this era. And it was probably great at the show too. We saw Scorpions in Rice Stadium and Houston Colluseum mostly. Indoors shows were just so crisp and fantastic. One of the best live bands ever in my opinion.
Francis is and UNDERRATED bass player... i think he was Brilliant! and with Herman both they bulded a big rithm section...
Scorpions was one my dad's favourite bands. One of the oldest memory in my life is watching "Still Loving you" on TV in Lisbon... Miss him so much...
Right there with you
The power of his voice is truly amazing.
The quality of the performance is mind-blowing. Most rock bands of today can't hold a candle to this.
Nope, these crap bands today would get spanked like a red headed step child.
scorpions have to be one of the best sounding live bands...i saw them in 2010 and they sounded just and great live....
Wow ! It is so obvious , our beloved Scorpions are so amazing performers on the stage without saving energy, to give the best to audience on concerts 💯🔝👏🖐🇭🇷
Klaus is still a package of dynamite!!! ❤️🥰
You guys need to be in the rock and roll hall of fame. criminal you are not.
Let's make it happen!!!
the hall of fame can suck it
Keep them out!
Theyre real rock legends, they dont need that hall of fame bs.
Seen them live in Hammersmith 1988 . Great concert . Fuk the ROK and roll Hall of shame.
I think this singer is maybe the most underrated in the history of rock. He is extremely good particularly in the slower, mellower songs.
Klaus Meine has been one of my all-time favorite singers! He's got a powerful and unique voice. Seen them a few times. The Blackout tour was my favorite. But Animal Magnetism is my favorite album.
@robertboyle4445 Mine too I love animal magnetism
That voice is also unique too, you can never search anything on the internet that sounds like Klaus like Marc Martel on Freddie Mercury
Klaus Meine was and still is an incredible singer!!! Seen Scorpions at least 17 times ... I'm hoping I'll get the chance to see them again at least once!!!
He always had difficulties carrying a tune.
Nobody has commented on how they upgraded the video, its awesome, I wish KISS/VH would do this
World Wide Live was played endlessly in my room. Best live album ever!!
Agreed. Same. But also -
Maidens Live after death
I remember going to the music store just two blocks from my house and seeing the album on a shelf. The store owner smiled and said: I knew you would like to see that.
Since I was a regular and sent people to him, he took off $1.50, so I got it for $9.00.
I went home, recorded the album to cassette and put it up. Has never been played since that first time. Still have it.
Miss record stores.
Almost as good as Tokyo Tapes
Tokyo Tapes &,Roth blew the fkng doors of jabs and this live
Yes I agree 1000000% !!!
Had just graduated high school in 84..Love at First sting was my summer background music...
Been listening to the Scorpions from the beginning and now at 63 I'm still blown away by them. I even have their Love At First Sting album that has the misprinted "Rock You Like A Hurricane'" where they spelled the title "Roch You Like A Hurricane"
It's the melody
How bout the Priest album that thinks the song is, "you've got another thing coming?"
Um, it's "You've got another THINK coming." Imagine it in the context of a sentence.
If you think I'll sit around.......as the world goes by............you're thinkin' like a fool, ..........cause it's a case of do or die ,.................If you think I'll let it go, you're MAD, ...............YOU'VE GOT ANOTHER THINK COMING!
See, think, think, think...................then "thing?" No, man! You've got another THINK coming.
I just turned 63; they are my favorite band. Last saw them in Las Vegas in 2023.
Under rated vocalist. No crazy high notes but very solid and suits the music perfectly.
Klaus hit some crazy high notes on their 70's and early 80's albums.
Appreciate the clarity in resolution of this recording! 🤘🫶🏻🤘
Best era for music. Saw the Scorps back in '79 at the Cleveland World Series of Rock when I was 12. Amazing.
That was their first ever US show! Amazing 🦂
@@mastersword427 Really? Wow!
Back when singers actually sounded like the album live…
Matthias is excellent!
I saw them April 9, 1984 in Austin Texas at the Erwin Center - still have the ticket stub. So hard to believe that was 40 years ago. Sadly the Erwin Center is being torn down. Saw lots of great bands there as a kid.. Thanks for the awesome music! Those were truly great times!
It's almost gone! The memories however live on.
The Scorp's remind me of a better time in my life. I associate them with some of my favorite memories.
🤘😝🤘
Saw them in Milwaukee on the Savage Amusement tour. Fantastic, high energy band. Had all their albums. Great band!
Matthias Jabs is AMAZING!
Yes!
Not in the same atmosphere as Roth
@@stefancolwell63 Agree 100% in terms of depth and virtuosity. But in terms of the straight-ahead, commercial hard rock the Scorpions became famous for Jabs was a perfect fit - better than Uli would have been.
@@stefancolwell63 Matthias is orbiting outside of the atmosphere....he is just that damn good.
@@coreytallentcoreytallent6584 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The album “love at first sting”🦂 is kick ass!!
My Scorpions story is from the US Festival in los angeles. We drove from sac down to the show i was 16. Lost all my friends and ride home within an hour of the show starting. But as much as that plauged my entire time there two bands really lifted my spirits and made me forget my troubles. Triumph really had a soothing uplifting affect upon me that was very appreciated at the time. But when the sunset and the Scorpions took the stage their tone, volume, and stage performance was top notch. In my opinion the best looking and sounding band of the day without a doubt.
*Scorpions...the best band rock forever!!! 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟*
Pink Floyd ,Rash , deep purple, led Zeppelin ,
Coming Home is a masterpiece. Loved how it opened WorldWideLive one of the greatest live albums ever
Fuck yeah.
Superb quality. This video is 40 years old man. Thanks for posting
There were some surprisingly good quality rock concert videos from the 80's and even some from the 70's.
чёрт возьми, 40 лет легендарному альбому. моя любовь и уважение с вами навсегда, Scorpions!
Это сборка! Это не альбом!
@@user-ob8bv7qn3m я знаю, но позавчера также 40 лет исполнилось со дня релиза альбома Love At First Sting
А ведь вспомните советские команды - Ария, Черный Кофе, Мастер... Одевались точно также и дурели на сцене не хуже. Мне 45. И черт-возьми я помню эти времена.
Holy sheep shit, I was actually at this show in Tokyo as a Marine stationed at Camp Fuji, Japan and I literally still have the shirt! Anvil, Bon Jovi, Michael Schenker Group, Scorpions and Whitesnake. We were right up near the front on the right. I'm constantly pausing to see if I can find 19 year old me! Wow what a blast from the past.
It's crazy seeing these concerts on You-tube. I saw myself on YT moshing at a Megadeth concert in San Jose in 1995 at 21 years old!
That's insane! Wow.
@@victorgallagher6312 Memories of my youth aren't for sale brother! I also saw Ozzy in Tokyo for the Bark at the Moon tour and I still have that shirt as well, but that's not for sale either! 😁
that is so cool dude
Fuck yeah dude! And thank you for your service! Im slightly jealous...🤘
Amazing concert!
The classic Scorpions of 80 is the Best!
the 70s Scorpions were better with ULI Jon Roth but things like MTV helped to make them So Much bigger in the US !!!!
This vid shows why Buchholz should never have dumped his Precision Bass for a Warwick. Incredible sound!
"Blackout"!!! Sums up the entire 80s for me. What a blast it was!!!
Early 80’s. We listened to these gentlemen on the game bus. We made the whole bus Scorpions fans. Saw them in concert three times. Epic!
One of the closest live to album sounding band in the world you can't tell the difference from album to live perfection all 5 high 5!!!!
My favorite group. I have seen them live many times. I bought Tokyo tapes when it came out in the late 1970s. Last saw them in Las Vegas in 2023. Schenker was doing fine, but Klaus was showing his age. They sounded great.
Such a great band with fantastic singer Klaus .. Greetings from Tirana Albania 🇦🇱!!
Unbelievable audio and video quality! Unbelievable time with an unbelievable band. Thanks for sharing! This is better than World Wide Live!
Scorpions!!!!
Rock me, Rock me, Rock Me
🤘🏼😎🤘🏼!!!!
Hey, from Northr'n
Kali🦂For🦂Nia🇺🇸
Scorpions studio version vs Scorpions live version is the same! Incredible!
That's pretty cool to see Japanese Scorpions fans. Looks like enough tickets to pay to see Japan sights and get the good noodles.
Saw the Scorpions in these years in Texas many times. Great concerts every time. They played the material true to the studio versions. It helps that Klaus could sing the parts. Not many bands live up to their album performances. Scorpions shows were always fantastic!!!
Hope all the surviving members and roadies are well. Thank you all of you!
they played Japan twice in the 70s,, Japan Loves them ,,
I remember owning this video on a VHS back in the 80s. And now watching this on my ipad and 4k tv. Simply amazing performances. Thank you for sharing this awesome concert. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻❤️❤️❤️
Simplemente únicos!!! Su calidad como banda y la calidad del video, sin palabras!!!! Saludos desde México.
Show...!!! Beautiful, it's seeing Klaus' and Rudolf's performance, they are really very good!!! 🤟💓💕💞🎸
Fantastic, very inspiring performance 👊👊👊🦂🦂🦂

I think 😎😎
Matthias is the best scorpions lead guitarist.
exiting player.
i have seen them twice , great both times.
you can see how bon jovi copped there act and live ideas.
Damn i loved the Scorps in the 80's!
The perfection of these performances is a thing of beauty. Scorpions have forever been one of the best live bands ever.
Fake? Not live? Obviously? Come on... That is the classic Klaus voice of that period
@@josepuelles8320 It's been heavily overdubbed - even the crowd noise isn't real, it sounds like an indoor crowd. Seek out the original recording from this show and the bootlegs that are available. They're completely different.
Zwei wichtige Gründe sich diese Show anzuschauen :
🦂 + 東京 !!!
Der Hammer !!!
That was an Epic concert!
Great years and great band. Love you Scorpions!!!! even day like premiere of a record is magic!!! Love from Italy!!

Awesome band! And that voice, WOW
Large screaming crowds, loud hard rockin roll metal music, but not a tattoo in sight.. rrr the 80's .. great memories for all..
I began to dream a tattoo see8ng the Lov at first sting's cover😂 I had one in 1994, at the age of 23, but I had to hide it because I worked in a legal office...now tattoos are evrywere, too much😅
Body graffiti
Tokyo by then had been a big Fan favorite of the Scorpions that was their 3rd time Playing there ,,, and they Loved the rock and roll it had become the Mecca of the overseas places to play by any of the Big Bands in the 70s and 80s
Wow! What an excellent concert. Powerhouse!
Saw them for the first time in 85 at the Meadowlands! It was Fantastic!!!
They were so good it looked effortless.
Damn, what a great sound. awesome quality.
❤love you Mathias❤️
Oh God! Scorpions at his best!!! Thank guy for share this jewerly. Great memories. We love u
We saw them in the summer of 1984. Love At First Sting tour. The stage was this huge space ship. They came out under Herman’s drums and roared into Coming Home. An incredible show.
Been listening to them for 40 years. Still gives me chills! Seen them last year, but many times before that. Was at the world wide live tour.
That huge bass sound ❤❤❤❤
Klaus and Matthias are simply a powerhouse. Brilliant set.
Finally they released this official tour filmings. 💎💎
Super quality 👌 Love it ❤🎉 Thanks🦂🤩
Love it,Scorpions!Greeting from Malaysia ❤
I'm amazed with the quality of the recording in contrast with the modern live recordings that seem to be made by amateurs in a mobile phone.
This tour was the first of many times I went to see the 🦂's👍
❤❤❤ Ich liebe diese Band über alles!!!😊😊😊 Liebe Grüße an alle Hardrock Fans auf der Welt!!! Gruß Wolle aus Weinheim [ Germany]

I LOVE YOUUU❤😭😍🇧🇷
I think Klaus is the only person in history to get a pass rockin the receeding hairline mullet! Underrated front man/vocalist!
Seeing them front/center when the Wall came down was awesome!
Saw the Scorpions in ‘73, when Michael Shenker was only 18.
my favorite members, my favorite show, my favorite band of all time. His music saved me several times.
'Integrant' isn't even a real word.

Sweet Memories!!!
My favorite band!!! Love from 🇧🇷
They are so damn good, easily my fav old school metal band!!!!
the good old times ❤❤❤
I had one of my aunties married to a Japanese man. When I was around 13, this man, who was now my uncle, came for a visit. He left before I could get to know him because my aunt cheated on him. He left most of the stuff he came to Peru with. I was interested in playing guitar so my grandmother told me once "I think your uncle had an electric guitar". I asked for the key to his room (he stayed in my grandmother's house), and I looked for said guitar but it was nowhere to be found, instead, inside a big box with multiple VHS tapes I found two that caught my eye, one was "Bon Jovi Live at London 1995" and the other one was "Scorpions Live in Tokyo Super Rock 1984". I took both with me and from that point on in my life these two bands became two of my favorites bands of all time.
Without scorpions my teenage years would've been boring
You said it brother. I feel the same way. 🤘
boom!
there were a lot of great bands in the 80s ,, ACDC , Iron Maiden, Judas Priest , but there were a ton of them in the 70s too you couldnt be bored the Scorpions just added to it all :)
