So they had the GuAIZ on the design board prior to the theft of the Gundams. And once they got the technology, they took their original GuAIZ design and reworked it to incorporate the new tech. That something I did not know and I search for intel. And I did not know that the N-Jammer Canceler was located in the head of the Dreadnought. Again, I did search. Guess its the same with the other nuclear powered Gundams? It was sad about the GuAIZ R. We don't even know WHEN it rolled out? Or what pilots thought about it compared to the original?
Wish those were mainstay in Destiny. The EFT variant could also be improved upon and making a derivative for ZAFT elite soldiers. That subflight system could assist in atmospheric battle.

Love your channel and loving the lore. Wasn't it because the Freedom and Justice and their later upgrades had a nuclear fission reactor or N jammer canceller. to keep the Trans phase shift going indefinitely?
Looking at the time frame in which the N-Jammer was "developed" alongside the customized delivery vehicles used to put them beyond the reach of any Earthbound powers (or even ZAFT themselves) I have come to believe that the N-Jammer and the plan to deploy them on Earth were already completed and in existence BEFORE the Bloody Valentine and that attack was allowed to be carried out so the Coordinator Supremacists would have a Causis Belli for declaring war and carrying out the attack.
the way i see it, its basically like a "lets imagine a new unit from the ground up" kind of thing. it happens alot, with people designing new things to do the job, instead of how to make something better. besides, they did continue the development of the guaiz, with the guaiz R. which came out after the zaku.
Unfortunate timing mostly. Destiny came out for the 25th anniversary of Gundam, and Bandai wanted to push out the classic models with an "updated" line using the Cosmic Era as a showcase. The idea would be that they could sell the new and old kits alongside each other, so ZAFT's design language had to go from UC-inspired to UC-adjacent.
@@bzoner16 i like the redesigns, to me, they are far better than the crap f90 pulled with the "oldsmobile" BS. it was even more insulting because it went as far as remaking the "last shooting" scene.

The GINN and the GuAIZ were one of my favorite MS from seed, design wise. It sucks to see that the author decided to go for nostalgia bait by putting Zaku, Gouf, and Dom into the series. Wish they had a better treatment rather than being swept under the rug.
The GuAIZ and GINN give Cosmic Era more identity originality. GuAIZ R should've been ZAFT mainstay in GSD. A high performance derivative based on the Experimental Firearms Type would used by ZAFT red elites and high ranking officers. Heine should've pilot it in his colours. I can imagine Lunamaria's custom GuAIZ R already. Instead of the DOM, it should've been a MS derived and based off the Duel Assault Shroud but the armour isn't detachable like Duel's but instead it's a modular armour with levels of protection such as level I which is the base form is similar in shape and mass to the Duel AS while level III is a bolt on armour which result the suit is as bulky and thick as the FAZZ from ZZ. As for the GINN, just give it the ZAKU torso and done.
How about a Top 10 Unsolved Mysteries in Gundam? Three off the top of my head are: what happened to Dorel Ronah after F91, was Durandal the one who liberated Canard from the lab, and how did ZAFT create the Duel's AS so quickly after.
the third one is actually easier to explain, since its basically repurposed equipment that was modded to fit the duel, the better question is, how did they repair the lost leg that was blown off by the strike's cannon.
Possible answer for the Duel AS would be the upgrade plan was designed by OMNI and was installed in the Duel database and ZAFT just recreate them with ZAFT tech. As if it was design from the ground up by ZAFT, it would have taken longer due to updating the Duel internal to fit the AS, in which Duel would actually be absent in most of the Archangel hunting battles. And OMNI would require a longer time to gather enough field data of the Duel AS and start the production of the Long Dagger Fotestra.
@Shadow Hyperion Agreed in terms of concept, but there are a few "holes" that made me have my speculation. 1) The AS for the GINN is a totally different design with the Duel AS and it is impossible for GINN AS to directly refitted on the Duel. 2) There are hard points around Duel from the start to support the AS to begin with that makes me doubtful ZAFT remodel the Duel to fit the AS. 3) While it is possible that Zaft can redesign the AS for Duel from the ground up, it would takes time and resources from design, production and test trial to ensure it work on the Duel, in which would requires the Duel to be transfer out of the front line to conduct the testing, but we do not see this in the series. Heliopolis Incident (CE71 Jan 25) till Duel AS 1st deployment (CE 71 Feb 13) only have 19 days. 4) The AS concept while powerful, but its implementation does not pass CGUE Assault as production has start to be focus on implementing the G Weapon Technology into the GuAIZ and later the 5 NJC Gundams, in which to design a AS from the ground up for 1 captured unit doesn't seems wise in resource management. 5) While OMNI had the original design plans of the Duel, which produce the Long Dagger, assuming the AS was design was by ZAFT from the ground up, it would be insufficient for OMNI to observe enough of Duel AS to gather enough field data for them to replicate the Fotestra and deploy with their Long Dagger (in which the lore mention it was provided by observation data by Archangel, but timing wise questionable, discuss in next point) 6) Assuming OMNI develop the Fotestra using Archangel data alone, the timing for Duel AS 1st deployment (CE 71 Feb 13) until final battle of Strike VS Aegis ( CE 71 Apr 15), Archangel have not many points of establish contact with OMNI or to send the data over for OMNI to start designing the Fotestra other than arriving on JOSH-A (CE 71 Apr 17) with the deployment of the Long Dagger sighted in battle of Panama (CE71 May 25). Assuming OMNI did not waste any time, they are able to open a production line from scratch and deploy them in 38 days, which is too short. Therefore, it is speculate that the Duel AS might have been an upgrade designed on paper by OMNI (possible inspired by Ginn AS) and loaded on the Duel. When the unit was capture, ZAFT extracted the data and manufacture the AS for Duel based on the design specification along with some ZAFT design and it will 100% fit on Duel with minor fitting adjustment, thus enable it to be deploy in such a short time frame. Since OMNI have the original design and with Archangel field data as the prove of concept, they allocate some of their production line of strike daggers to produce the Long Dagger (they share 50% parts with the strike dagger) and the Fotestra, which is significantly faster than trying to replicate based on field data alone.
@Shadow Hyperion Thanks on the spelling correction, did not notice it as I was typing at 2am in my timezone. As my previous speculation, I am not doubting that the Dual AS was inspired by the Ginn AS, but the timing of ZAFT able to field it that fast, which make me doubt that there are outside factors. Not to mention there is lack of field testing of the Duel AS which makes it even more suspicious. Also, the AS for GINN was only produce in a hand-full of numbers and its production run would have halted with the implementation of the CGUE, making the conversion of the GINN's AS for Duel use extremely unlikely. As your comparison for the M4 Carbine V M16, they are on the same platform, but the difference between GINN and Duel is more like the AK series VS the M4. Not to mention the armor and weapon positioning plus load-out makes a direct conversion impossible which makes the development form scratch much more viable. As to the leak of design by Rau, it is possible, but unlikely due to the timing and the benefit of him leaking the Duel AS plans and data is insignificant comparing to the other leaks and the method of leaks. Operation Spitbreak can be inform via word of mouth while NJC plans was by hand via Flay, both which have significant impact against ZAFT. Unless we open another can of worms that Rau is behind everything, there is another direction of the speculation that Rau leak the combat data of Duel and Duel AS to EA at some point during the period CE 71 Feb 13 to Apr 17, in which with that data, EA manage to setup the production line for the Strike Dagger and the Long Dagger as long as training pilots withing the timing of up to 101 days which is much likely and this did manage to tip the favor against ZAFT. But this still did not convince me on how ZAFT manage to field Duel AS on such a short time.
@@echos5823 While AS is not a difficult concept, the issues are in the details: 1) Armor - It has PS armor on the base unit, what it plan to guard against? what composition of materials to be use, how it should be design, its effectiveness in defense, total increase in weight (which will affect the balance and mobility of the unit) 2) Thruster - How much thruster it need to compensate against the increase in weight and the position of the thruster is located, and how the fuel tanks will be located and effective operating time ( More thruster = more fuel consumption = less operation time) 3) Additional Weapons - Where is the additional weapon located, does it affect the balance of the unit, is it compatible with the fire control system. Sum them up together, you would have a overall performance score of how the MS will perform on paper (design stage). Then where to source the materials and parts to manufacture them, install, field, data feedback, fine tuning, etc. All these are time consuming and it would cost more than just a few dozen of overwork MS crew. Not to mention AS concept is not new in other gundam timeline and usually it would be cheaper to go for a redesign MS that perform better than forcefully implement costly upgrades that are not cost effective.
Looking back, I can't help but wonder why didn't ZAFT retrofit the Dinn for space? It's literally just gonna collect dust in hangers while the final fights are happening in space. Why not make them space worthy and use them!?!?
Speaking of ZAFT Gundams, is there an In-Universe explanation they used Gundam heads instead of mono-eyes? I don't think it's the same case with the Titans in UC
Yeah. We could start with Kira getting killed by the Aegis, and Orb not getting the data they needed for the M1 Astray's OS. That's already a big blow that will also affect the other protagonists of the Seed side stories. Basically, Zaft wins the war unless they wipe each other out.
You can't change my minds, that the GuAIZ is a more advanced mobile suit than the Zaku Warrior, the Dom Trooper and the Gouf Ignited all together. The designs of those three machines look outdated, even when you compare them to the GINN. The fact that they could go against the Windam (which was reduced to an even worse Leo) was comically indeed.
Gaia's test pilot was Riika Sheder, a Coordinator who can't see a thing without her specialized glasses. Courtney Heironimous and Mare Strode were the test pilots for Chaos and Abyss respectively.
GuAIZ so cool it deserves HGCE at very least, any mobile suit deserves more than old jointless 1/144 SEED line IMO now that fine build is a thing heck they can even release it as P-bandai just like daughtress.
Been working on a GuAIZ EFT HG conversion for a long time now. Sadly the NG 1/144 GuAIZ kit is pretty bad so instead I'm modifying a HG Dreadnought with a GuAIZ head, HG Freedom rail cannons and Fatum from my old RG Justice.
I’m torn because I like the Zaku Warrior and Gouf Ignited, but it’s disappointing that the GuAIZ got replaced by UC designs. The GuAIZ and GuAIZ R are great designs, and the Experimental Arms type makes sense, I just wish we’d gotten more variants of it, and frankly that applies to every grunt in CE in general. Most especially on the Earth Alliance side of things.
Never heard "dreadnaught" in reference to a person, neat, I've only ever seen it as a reference to either the ship, the category of ships, or other things named in reference to those things. (That and it's apparently an archaic term for a heavy overcoat), Also, "Beam reamer" is hilarious, no idea how you managed to say that one without laughing.
I've always wondered something. Coordinators were said to be more technologically advanced yet it was the Naturals who had fully functional beam weapons before them. Naturals also had Phase Shift armour, some special gel that the Archangel used for entering the atmosphere, etc. while ZAFT didn't have such advanced technology. One would think the opposite would occur since Coordinators are supposed to be amazingly smarter.
3 Possible explanations I just thought about, because that's a good question I never really thought about. 1) Maybe at the super high end of the spectrum, things kinda level out. Like an average coordinator is way smarter than an average natural, but a genius coordinator is only a bit smarter than a genius natural. 2) The Alliance could brute force the development of more tech because they had more engineers that could eclipse the quality of the folks over at the PLANTS. 3) The PLANTS/ZAFT had different priorities and spend most of their resources on the N-Jammers and later the N-Jammer Cancellers.
@@darena12 While Orb could've helped with the tech, the history of their Astray prototypes implies that they got most of their technology from the Alliance and not the other way around (With the PS armor being the one thing they couldn't steal).
its more of a nature vs nurture debate. given the right environment and endless supply of passion, a natural scientist can rival a coordinator. furthermore, ginn launched in ce 69. there is enough remnants, broken parts, and captured examples lying around for ea to start studying, reverse engineering, or develop countermeasures against zaft tech
@@rhonpen5388 That still doesn't explain how Naturals were able to figure out how to make beam weaponry and other highly advanced tech before the Coordinators. If the Alliance got their hands on a GINN they'd copy it and make their own MS for sure, but GINNs didn't have beams for them to reverse engineer, study or tamper with. Yeah I know that some Naturals are talented like Coordinators, but those kinds of people are rare (Lowe Guele being one of them) and not all of them work in the fields of science.
That Experimental Firearms Type is my favourite GuAIZ design. I can hear Bandai say "PREMIUM" to this one. Wish GuAIZ was the mainstay of ZAFT forces and the Experimental Firearms Type get mass produced for ZAFT redcoats, with improvements and upgrades of course and Heine bringing his old yet improved GEFT instead of the GOUF.

I’d love to see a development history on the Providence Gundam/ Legend Gundam. They’re two of my favorite gundams of all time.
the providence was the "final form" of the dreadnought, as in, they took what worked in that machine and decided to make a "real ms" out of it.
I agree, love them too

The Providence (Gundam) lead to the Providence ZAKU, which lead to the development of the Legend Gundam.
@@marcosdheleno True, but I am curious of why the Providence was made in the first place, and with that name too. It's like this MS was made specifically for Rau La Crausset in case something were to happen with the Freedom and Justice.
The Legend more so, I mean is it made and named to reflect the devastation brought by the Providence?
@@Addition2 providence is normally meant as a divine design. in this case, it makes perfect sense, as it was meant to be a divine retribution.
about why it was made, i dont see it that way. if anything, the justice is the anti freedom unit.
the providence was the culmination of the pod technology. it was intended to be used in tandem with its sister units, you could even see it as the mid range one, taking out every one that comes close, while the justice would be the hit and run.
i have been waiting for too long for bandai to release HG GuAIZ.
It's cool that back then we'd get kits like cgue or Ginn insurgent(Just got one the other day!) as a regular release.

This does make me wonder, why did they move to the design of the Zaku (reminiscent of the UC era) instead of continuing its own design lineage...
the way i see it, its basically like a "lets imagine a new unit from the ground up" kind of thing. it happens alot, with people designing new things to do the job, instead of how to make something better.
besides, they did continue the development of the guaiz, with the guaiz R. which came out after the zaku.

@Shadow Hyperion true
Always loved the design of the Guaiz R, looks way better than the original, just too bad it got shafted real quick.
Been waiting for this
The GINN and the GuAIZ were one of my favorite MS from seed, design wise.
5) While OMNI had the original design plans of the Duel, which produce the Long Dagger, assuming the AS was design was by ZAFT from the ground up, it would be insufficient for OMNI to observe enough of Duel AS to gather enough field data for them to replicate the Fotestra and deploy with their Long Dagger (in which the lore mention it was provided by observation data by Archangel, but timing wise questionable, discuss in next point)
6) Assuming OMNI develop the Fotestra using Archangel data alone, the timing for Duel AS 1st deployment (CE 71 Feb 13) until final battle of Strike VS Aegis ( CE 71 Apr 15), Archangel have not many points of establish contact with OMNI or to send the data over for OMNI to start designing the Fotestra other than arriving on JOSH-A (CE 71 Apr 17) with the deployment of the Long Dagger sighted in battle of Panama (CE71 May 25).
@@echos5823 While AS is not a difficult concept, the issues are in the details:
1) Armor - It has PS armor on the base unit, what it plan to guard against? what composition of materials to be use, how it should be design, its effectiveness in defense, total increase in weight (which will affect the balance and mobility of the unit)
2) Thruster - How much thruster it need to compensate against the increase in weight and the position of the thruster is located, and how the fuel tanks will be located and effective operating time ( More thruster = more fuel consumption = less operation time)
3) Additional Weapons - Where is the additional weapon located, does it affect the balance of the unit, is it compatible with the fire control system.
Looking forward to the next one
OH YEA MY FAVORITE GUNDAM GETS TO BE TALKED ABOUT- Yes it's the Freedom.

Wasn’t most if not all of that made for them by orb or other coordinators
