Fun fact, when Jungkook is dancing alone with the ‘mirror’ behind him - he really danced both images, that is a window not a mirror!
Really? I watched the backstage and didn't noticed. I did wonder why V didn't reflected haha
That is what I want to point out as well 😂 It was two different shots and some people who noticed it were disturbed bcs they thought it was a mirror and the camera man was missing 😂 but *he missed* it 😩🤧

@@joy_0315 I was looking forward to that part too! I remember them explaining that shot somewhere (don't ask me where- can't remember which episode) and I was so amazed! It's such a cool effect!
@@yessigabi12 I think that could be explained by an editing point of view (correct me if I'm wrong, it's just a theory):
To add that second shot (of Kook's back dancing), they had to outline the part in which they would have included his back. Moving the camera away, they probably didn't prepare a shot for Tae's entrace as well, and so in the final MV the "mirror" goes away keeping the Kook's back shot, in which Tae wasn't included unfortunately...
But it's basically a frame of time, it's barely noticeable if you watch the video fully (without stopping it, nor knowing this little detail) (also because you're focused on Tae being directly on camera- like- who can take their eyes off him,,,,)
This is some great editing, but the real hero is whoever put Taehyung in a bandana

Someone *please* tell Jordan that the fire in the background isn't CG. BTS were actually dancing infront of it as it blew up. Hella props to them for getting a shot where they didn't flinch.

What's really interesting is how BTS ties in all of their songs/eras/music videos together with little easter eggs because they are all a part of a larger story (starting with HYYH era) so that smoking pickup truck in the black and white scene is the same pickup in their RUN music video and the smoking school bus is from their No More Dream music video. They really put so much effort into tying the entire story of BTS together and its really impressive

I used to be a BTS hater back in 2015 or 16, not because I hated them but because my bullies loved them. I just didn’t want to be associated with my bullies so I never liked BTS and never listened to their songs. Until after I changed schools and was still depressed, I came across blood sweat and tears and immediately fell in love. I couldn’t believe I missed out on everything they’ve done, the message of self love they were spreading. In a way, BTS saved me before I decided to 💀. So point is, I feel like I’m the hooded figure in the video…

There was no mirror.. they added the mirror later through editing
they recorded jk doing that section twice the first time is the one we see and the “mirror” became like green screen, the second recording was from the angle of the mirror which they then put over to create the mirror but not effect

One of the things I love about BTS is the attention to small things that most folks don't even notice. The spot at 10:19 in your video where JK is in front of the "mirror" is an impossible shot, you should be able to see the camera. What they did was user a window and shot it twice with him on either side in reverse and then stitched them together. All to make a clean visual...
I love it cus the mirror technically doesn’t even need to be there, they just did this cus they wanted to and it’s cool lol

Hello I’m back with a little fun fact 😂 The scene right here 10:18, behind Jungkook is the window where the boys were originally sitting in the beginning of the video. It’s not a mirror, therefore Jungkook danced this part a second time so they can film his backside and then the video editor superimposed that video into the window behind Jungkook so that it would look like a “mirror”.
i became an army right around the release of the song, like shortly after.
one thing why I was so in AWWW about this song and video was
1. the beat. it makes you pump and i love it.
2. the editing of the video. before i became a bts fan, i wasn't really intrigued by MVs anymore, because there weren't any good ones out there. and this video absolutely blew my mind. i was introduced to a whole world of people and artists, who still put some efforts into making MVs.
i mean..the editing overall, the song, the quality. what a masterpiece
After seeing 3 of his reaction videos, I feel either he did a lot of research or is actually very smart. He's able to identify the lyricism and interpret the meaning of the scenes. I love the reactions from him. Keep it up! 😎

I'm only just discovering your reaction videos (infant ARMY as of late 2021), and I really love your perspective as a professional video editor (and obvious ARMY)! I came through the collaboration you did with Clay from Steezy, whose perspective has helped expand my appreciation of BTS's choreography, J-hope's insane dance skills, and Jimin's ridiculously fluid dance abilities.
I've watched ON: Kinetic Manifesto, Blood Sweat and Tears, and Mic Drop (Steve Aoki remix) dozens of times each, and STILL learn and notice new things every time I watch videos like yours.
Learning about "match cuts", the drone shots in ON, how the inverted color schemes, fast motion at camera, and snare drum effects (i forget what you called them exactly, but how you explained how easy it is to add that kind of effect), plus how you point out subtle sound design (like the level changes in Fake Love when JK is by the waterfall) - like, wow, I LOVE it. I'm learning so much about the art and skill in editing, plus learning to appreciate even more the insane level of detailing, art, and craft that goes into BTS MVs.
This was the first time in many, many watchings of Mic Drop, btw, that I realized that all 7 members are in the shot where Suga is the center focus and Jimin/JK get blown away in slow motion. Because of your shot-by-shot analysis of how they capture the footage and compiled it together, I noticed that there are 4 faint, blurred human shapes between Jimin and JK also getting blown back - the other members. Yet another subtle detail I never would have noticed otherwise...

I have a question, when the director of music video give you the footage to edit, do they give the raw footages and you have to put the music, connect all the clips between them etc... or do they choose the clips, connect them together and you just have to add some effects, cuts etc???
You get the raw footage straight from set and put EVERYTHING together :)

The mirror behind in the second pre-chorus, where Jungkook is seen dancing, doesn't really exist. They had to record him many times because it had to tally with the other image of him dancing. Blowminding 😶
