I have followed you for like a year and a half and watched a lot of your stuff and this might be the best design work I have ever seen in Satisfactory. Super inspired for 1,0 and my own content creation!
@TotalXclipse I enjoyed it very much! I haven't brought it 'to life' as you have, but I've also expermented with ChatGPT for sci-fi factory design concepts and got some nice ideas I'm itching to explore for 1.0 I'm about to attempt to take a few different angle screen shots of a site I plan to build in. I'll also take the same shots with a small checker grid of foundations placed for size reference and then feed those images to ChatGPT. I'm hoping to get it to keep as close a resemblance to the in-game terrain as possible but with build concepts. Just be sure to build an instructive prompt for the beginning of the conversation.
I've seen a lot of satisfactory UA-camrs, some that everyone knows, some that no one knows, some of them improved their level constantly and others stagnated. You are a spectacular example of the first category, you have constantly improved to the point of catching up and overtaking guys clearly well above you 2 or 3 years ago. I'm just happy that the first satisfactory youtuber has also became one of the best in terms of design and technical mastery of the game.
yeah, i had a steep improvement curve at first, but i still make box-factories all the time. Design is really something else, knowing how to use the shapes available to create great looking walls etc is something i just cannot fathom.
@@TotalXclipse Been watching you off and on for years, love your calm voice and great videos. I'm going to play for the first time since update 6 tomorrow. I'm so excited.
How do you come up with a layout for the factory if you don't even have the machines down yet? You built an entire foundation and knew it would be right for what you needed. I have no idea how to do that or how to plan this stuff out. Could you do a tutorial on this or point me to something that will help? I build an entire dam system that I had to abandon because I I didn't know how to layout the inside. Please, please respond and any help would go so far for me. Sorry this is so long.

The basic idea is sound: looking at external designs (designs not from yourself) for inspiration in order to push you beyond your comfort zone and help you experiment with composition elements you might normally never consider. Great idea. But considering the wide-ranging objections to gen AI tools such as this, it seems an odd thing to start bragging about and borderline advertising for. The same idea can (and has before) been achieved by looking at people's art and photography on google images. There's just as much inspiration and creativity in real people's real work - probably more. You showed yourself that you couldn't get the AI tool to give you directly applicable images of Satisfactory anyway. And indeed, it helps you think outside the box, to see designs that don't quit fit and to have to interpret how you could do them. So what then are the advantages to AI over real art? If you're not using the AI art as art itself but rather as inspiration then why not just use real art? You're not trying to pass the AI art off as your own, so you wouldn't be doing that with something you found on google either. The difference is that if you find something cool on google you can shout-out the creator (even simply as a footnote) whereas pictures from gen AI may include many stolen artworks that will never be linked back to the artists they were taken from. Try pushing your comfort zone juuuust a little bit more and dare to engage with real artists' work. It's just as easy to type 'prompts' into an image search engine, and the results are more rewarding, (and you don't have to contend with a flood for anti-AI comments like you're getting now).
