- Woman train driver on electric tram street running in Tampa Florida! I was teleported to the Teco Trolley. Watch the woman operator run the tram through downtown Tampa. Malfunctioning crossing gates are seen in Lakeland Florida after an Amtrak train passes. Notice the authentic wooden shoes that I am wearing during the video outro! We've had Amtrak Patti, but now we have Trolley Tonya! Looks like her left hand is the throttle ( I can hear the notches clicking), and her right hand is the brake. She seems to be a smooth operator. Great video old pal! Cheers, Dan

Very cool, but I hope that stupid beer ad is just a wrap, and can be easily pulled off, it really ruins a classic scene. Ads are fine on Nascar, but not on classic trollies.
That's really cool, that car still has the old style controls on it. This car has a lot more personality and class than Cincinnati's.
Here in New Jersey, they hardly even count as trolleys. They serve the same purpose, but they're made of metal, with the interior of a bus. And the operator sits in a closed room, with signs reminding passengers to leave her alone.
I agree with you Lee. Cincinnati`s look a spaceship. A deserted spaceship at that. After a year or 2 they will be parked unless they start putting in more track that actually goes places people want to go. They need to run a line out to Mason or West Chester so folks can ride it to downtown instead of driving downtown. Because once you have driven there, why in the Hell would you need to ride the streetcar to nowhere?
Gimme some of what you`re smoking son. That thing is losing ridership almost daily. Watch the news and learn a little something. Hell, it wasn`t even running about a week ago because the track is screwed up.
That is too bad, it used to be better when trolley & interurban lines ran from downtown to residential areas & beyond.
They look like K type controllers or a reproduction of one, and we have a real single truck Birney car from the Sacramento Northern at the WRM
I've been on these replica Birney cars! The people who run this line are very trainspotter friendly and I got some nice photos with the streetcars.
Still trying to decide what the operator's controls do. She adjusted the left one nearly constantly. It must control motor speeds. The right one seems to be a brake. Interesting how smoothly she ran her trolley.

What is the difference between this trolley and Cincinnati`s? There are people on it and it actually goes someplace that people want to go. It also looks like it goes out into the neighborhoods where people live so that you don`t have to drive to town just to ride it in a circle. Hell, if I`m going to drive to Cincy, I`ll just go to where I need to go. The thing the numb nuts that run Cincinnati never understood was that no one was going to drive downtown, pay to park their car and then jump on the streetcar to nowhere. They are finding it out now as ridership has plummeted and it is bleeding money just like they were told it was going to do before it was even built.

10:10 failsafe, not malfunction. the gates will remain open if malfunctioned.
No Safety Measures what so ever, Trolley passes right through downtown without any warning sounds, as you see at 10:30 people clearly ignore the poles as they come down. In California, all of this is illegal.

Man that was really cool got to Enjoy the worm weather plus riding on the Trolly I hope you got to go to Plant City to catch some cool stuff Keep in mind when I was there it would rain in the After noon but then it would clear up!!

Jaw Tooth, there was a TV series back in the 1990s called " Tracks Ahead " - it was about model & prototype trains. They did a story on the New Orleans street car system, the trolley was operated by a woman " Conductor ". Some streetcar lines had a second crewman who was the Conductor; the operator was called a " Motor Man ". Motor men also operated electric interurban trains, subway trains, & elevated trains.

Aww cool video, Brian!.. I've been to Ybor City many times and crossed those very tracks at the mall but never actually got to ride the trolley (or even seen one!).. I def have to put that on my bucket list of train things to do!

Oh, now maybe I get it! You might remember from my last comment that I thought you had to come from somewhere south of Ohio, but then those clips that appear at the beginning of your videos might just tell the story. Ironically, I have a first cousin who immigrates to the U.S. many years back. she is now retired bit still lives in Tn.
Actually I live in southern Ohio not far from Kentucky but I go to Florida a lot because my mom lives there and I railfan at Plant City Florida. I'm just now getting ready to drive back to Florida! Really cool old wood inside trolley! How much and how long was the ride? Jaws and Mrs. Did you notice from about 5.00 to 5.08 the reddish looking signal or light down between the rails right at or slightly before the green signal on the left side post?
That red thing says stop on it. The trolleys have to stop there first and then proceed if the signal at the left is green. They have a couple miles of track that go from Ybor City to downtown Tampa. It didn't cost much to ride but today that ride is free. They were trying to get the riders up so they did away with the fees

OK--are these newly-built trolleys? Are they original old ones that were found and rehabilitated?
They are older trolleys that have been rehabbed. We were riding one and some wires started burning on it and they had us evacuate the trolley and wait for another one. lol

why are there no horn zones?thats what i dont understand.
People who live near the railroad crossings complain about the loud noise of the train horns. There is a city called Glendale Ohio that is about to change to a no train horn zone. I just made a video about it recently after talking to the mayor. That will ruin another railfan spot.

I know you're kidding. There are several "street car" loops in Downtown Memphis. Worth your while if you are within a days drive. The operators are very friendly, too.
