Good ol' HMV have chucked some overstock in a box and are charging £9.99 for it! Amazing. Then we have another Güd Crate - the box of genuinely interesting stuff.
This time round we've got weird LCD games, Robocop, dragons, Resident Evil, toy catalogues, Roland Rat, and an awful lot more... - Розваги

The catalog is a fat nostalgia hit though! I remember as a kid (at least growing up lower middle class,) getting these massive toy catalogs around Christmas was the highlight of the year! My brother and I would circle things and cut some of the pictures out and stick them on our bedroom wall. We both kinda knew we were never gonna get any of the things in the catalog, but it was like going to the toy store whenever we wanted! (Especially since actual toy store trips were rare.)
That catalogue takes me back. I had a ton of the Barbies that were shown in it, the Optimus Prime and Megatron it had, and several of the RC cars. Although they all came from different shops and none were J.C. Penney's oddly enough. I know the RC cars all came from Radio Shack. I had their super fast exclusive in store one too. Which was so stupidly fast, it was unanimously banned from RC car games by all of the other kids in my neighborhood. As was the gasoline powered one I got later.

JCPenney was once a large chain of brick-and-mortar department stores, similar to its main competitor, Sears Roebuck & Co., but both companies have seen heavy downturns in the age of Amazon and other online ordering. Both JCPenney and Sears have long had a substantial mail-order business, though that's likely also gone downhill thanks to Amazon.
I used to love flipping through the Christmas/year-end Sears general catalogue every year, when it showed up in July or August or so, with its 600+ pages of all sorts of stuff a 12-year-old almost definitely could not afford.
Sears' downfall had more to do with their poor customer service, a problem that started long before Amazon. Decades ago they were known for good customer service. Amazon was just the final nail in the coffin.
Part of me is glad to see the demise of J.C. Penney, some years ago they bought the Eckerd drug store chain where I worked as an I.T. contractor and ran it into the ground. Bastages.

Those Transformers were from the ‘90s Generation 2 line, which is why Prime’s trailer was like that, and why Megatron was a tank
Yep. The G2 started out rereleasing some of the old toys in new color schemes (and usually with the character's name written on them even though they were supposed to be in disguise) with additional accessories. In the early 80s kids could buy realistic looking toy guns, but by the 90s that was no longer allowed, so Megatron was given a new toy where he turned into a tank.
That was one of two G2 Optimus figures, the other one being an entirely new mold that transformed into a long nose tractor trailer with an oil trailer that turned into a battle station. And it is a goddamn work of 90s toy art.
