    believe it or not, there have been several stories of people lighting their beds on fire inside buildings because they are so frustrated...now that's bed bugs pushing you to the edge

    Thank you for doing this, and I don't mean this in a critical way, but I think maybe you could cut the presentation in half. You only need to say that the glass bowl could break once...things like that. Folks really just want to get to the "how to" part quickly.

    How about an interceptor with oil and then if they make it past that, double side sticky tape on the bed pole. Get best of both worlds.

    For a really sticky double sided tape use carpet seam tape, that stuff is so sticky I doubt any bug could make it through there. You'll want to put down a layer of painters tape or something first though if you want to be able to remove it

      Spare no expense. T-Rex tape or nothing at all.

      Was about to mention this, after he said they can walk up double sided tape. What u suggested to remove may not work though. Carpet tape is SUPER STICKY. meaning once it's used, u won't simply be able to pull it up. I put some on a cast iron railing and wood floor, had to use chemicals, heat and scrapers to remove.

    I bought a new mattress set, and I think I am never going to take off the plastic. Then they can't get into the mattress, at least.

    • @carriethompson84
      @carriethompson84 6 років тому +2

      Any tear, they get in.. they can get into anything the size of a credit card, they're that thin b4 feeding!!!!! Best thing is to take off the plastic & buy a allergen/bed bug proof cover that completely goes around the mattress, zips at one side & they're not hell to put on. Get them for your pillows also! They sell them for decorative or "euro" pillows like the couch size, smaller pillows. I bought 1 for my pillow bc I was staying with many people after my husband walked out & didn't want to risk it. His dad passed 3 wks after our son was born, he couldn't cope with the sadness or feelings of guilt bc it was a happy time due to our son being born so he relapsed & I wouldn't let him come back home.. it's shitty but for a recovering addict, he did very good for 3 months until the initial shock wore off. I can't just say he walked out w/o the short version of the story. I'm also recovering addict but I've had to stay clean for myself & mostly my baby boy whose 2 now. It's all 4 the best, he got a rehab, prison program that is hardcore, praying it works! I think that cover potentially saved me several times bc I got bit by sumn at 3 outta 4 places we stayed. It'd welp up then go down pretty quick leaving no marks after. Could've been a mosquito but the bites affect everyone diff & don't affect some people at all!!!! So crazy... the mattes & pillow protectors are the best & they make the ones for just allergens & some that are for allergens & bed bugs.. the bed bug ones aren't much more expensive & depends on size of mattress. I HATE the monsters but thankfully I don't think I've ever had them!!! Thought maybe I did which is why I'm watching this video but no evidence of them at all.. no poop, no blood other than from scabs that EVERY 2 yr old gets, haven't seen ANY bugs at all.. I believe he had some type of rash & went 3 days w/o his Zyrtec but since he's had it back in his system, it's all cleared up thank God. Sorry so long.. didn't mean for it to be! Everyone says I'm too detailed & write novels lol

    Driven out of my legless bed on a raised platform by 3 a.m. bedbugs, I started sleeping in a hammock in a different room, where, alas, they eventually found me again. I washed and sprayed the hammock regularly, but to no avail. The solution was to put a CD/DVD on the hooks with duct tape to provide a perfect seal around the hole. I placed the discs in a vertical plane in the now common knowledge that the b's can't grip or climb on smooth vertical surfaces (as in the bedleg traps). As an extra guarantee, I dusted the 2 sides of the discs with diatoamceous esrth (DE). So far so good. But there remains what do with my legless platform bed with hundreds of nooks and crannies. DDT maybe !? TNT !!!

    what about putting some of the D.E. in the barriers?

    • @ultimatehamsandwich734
      @ultimatehamsandwich734 7 років тому

      while D.E. can be used its not that great, you might as well buy CimeXa and go the full mile and put it in the corners and crack of your house
      Research on CimeXa vs D.E. - www.pctonline.com/article/pct0814-silica-gel-research-bed-bugs/

    • @weavejenn
      @weavejenn 3 роки тому +2

      @@ultimatehamsandwich734 I tried both, DE and CimeXa (on the advice of Joel Z Williams - who can be found here: ua-cam.com/video/nuKHsqubCm8/v-deo.html), CimeXa definitely worked much better. I have been following the suggestions, but I think other tenants in my apartment building have the same problem. One of my neighbors keeps vacuuming and every time they do, it seems I kill one or two on the wall near the ceiling. Anyways, my biggest hurdle right now is sitting at my desk. I can't figure out where they are coming from, but no matter what I do, they get on the arms of my chair and keep biting me. They are also miniscule and hard to actually see unless they are on something colored. I use OFF! Defense Deet-Free Bug Spray & Insect Repellent with Picaridin and it keeps them from biting (sometimes I still feel all crawly) overnight. The OFF! doesn't really work while at my desk though (they build up resistance). Next I am going to try one of Joel's trapping methods.

    • @weavejenn
      @weavejenn 3 роки тому +1

      I also use a sticky lint brush to pick them off the furniture when I see white or red specks (sometimes crawling around). They will stop crawling if you shine a light or they will try to get away into a crack somewhere.

    You can live your whole life bedbug free. Soon as you let someone come stay the night on your couch, then that's over with. Now you got bedbugs. Bedbugs come from people when you let them sleep over. There is no fucking way to easily get rid of them. The best plan of attack, your furniture is now dead. Throw it all out. That comfortable couch you finally got??? It's damned now. Throw it all out, now choose a bedroom, clean it and strip it to bare floors and walls. Get new mattress and wrap it in plastic, place that in center of cleaned bedroom. This is the only place you are remotely safe. Wash and dry pillows and sheet on high heat for way too long. That room and that bed is vampire free. Other areas of house are now war zone. If you spend any time sitting anywhere else in the house, you must spend your time warily trying to spot anything crawling upon you suddenly. They will be hungry, now that you don't sleep around them anymore, they will be forced to seek you while you're awake. ALWAYS shower and change clothes before you enter your safe room for sleep. Summer is what you're waiting for. On the hottest days, plug up electric heaters in war zone, turn them all on full blast. You will be turning your house into an oven. Fry it with no mercy. Warily watch for fire. After a week of turning house into oven, sit in war zone and see if any of them survived, isn't this fun??? If all else fails, your only option is to throw everything away, strip house to bare floors and walls, spend exorbitant amounts of money on clear sealing caulk, seal every single baseboard, crack, nook, crevice, and cranny in the entire house. So they have nowhere left to hide. One chair is allowed to sit and eat at in living room. Only other furniture should be a tv sitting on a small plastic table, and your bed, which is in the safe room. If you ever gain victory again, make new rule. Anyone coming over to spend night WILL immediately shower, after placing dirty clothes in plastic bag and sealing it, then put on clean clothes and throw dirty clothes in scalding hot wash cycle, and high dryer heat until they fucking shrink. Or just don't let anyone spend night at your damn house. whichever seems easier to you.

    3M makes different mounting tapes. The one you had in your hand Jeff, was the least sticky. Look for the ones that hold 5, 10 or 20 pounds.

      Diatomacious earth? I'm using it, powder, nontoxic, a bit messy but cleanable... I'm not seeing signs of bedbugs but tenants in my last apt saw one or two so I'm taking precautions not to bring any here.

    what about substituting sticky tape with fly strips? fly strips are no joke when it comes to stickiness.

    • @BedBugCentralTV
      @BedBugCentralTV  10 років тому +1

      sounds like everything in the house would be stuck to the tape....the dogs, cats, socks, kids, etc...

    • @rayw5973
      @rayw5973 10 років тому

      I'm suggesting a cheap and really sticky way to wrap chair/bed/table legs, etc. Actually had a fruit fly problem, and one of my 3 cats decided to barrel into a fly strip.I held onto the cardboard tube/dispenser and my cat pulled himself away from it with no real damage/hair loss. Fly strips usually have no pesticides in them, just sticky "glue." I have had flystrips accidentaly stick to me. they are stickier than duct tape, but nowhere near an adhesive like wack-o glue or glues like nail glue. Check out the flystrips, Jeff and let me know what u think. They're stronger than double sided tape and cleaner than sticky glue!!

    • @BoyceOtt
      @BoyceOtt 5 років тому

      The climb up interceptor is designed to capture bed bugs. You can buy them at Amazon.com. I also recommend checking Bedbug Supply located in Florida. They have great prices and ship free. Check both to see which is best place to purchase. Not sure, but Walmart may also have them.

    Would having a barrier device like a plastic cup and then covering the bed legs in talc work?

    • @BedBugCentralTV
      @BedBugCentralTV  10 років тому

      it may prevent bed bugs from getting up the legs of the bed but they can be persistent in finding other ways to get onto the bed or spread throughout the rest of the home looking for food, "barrier" approaches don't usually solve problems
