MSFS Frame Gen Mod For ALL RTX NVIDIA GPUs - Setup Guide and Analysis
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 лип 2024
- Today we’re checking out the frame gen mod that’s surfaced recently, allowing us to run frame gen on 20 series and 30 series nvidia cards. It achieves this by tricking our sim into thinking nvidia frame gen in enabled, but in the background, it’s actually running AMD’s FSR 3 Frame Gen, which is how we’re able to run this on non-4000 series nvidia cards.

Thank you. Works perfectly on a 3080ti-i9-9900k. I can't see any artifacts/disadvantages. doubled FPS. Very surprised!
This is crazy. I got a crazy performance increse in terms of FPS (:
You absolute legend, subscribed to your tech channel and this one!
Thanks Mate. I can now enjoy my Sim so much more.
Impressive! I’ve got a 3080 so this could well be the way ! Great Video ! Thanks 👍🙏🏻✈️👨✈️
I suspect in the end I’ll end up getting rid as there’ll likely be a gotcha somewhere. Fun experiment for the science though! Makes me want a 4000 series all the more haha
@@AirNOTT curious... got a new MB/CPU on the way to go with the 3080... what MB/CPU you running under the GPU?
@@georgelza I have a 5600X / MSI B550-A Pro but that is all subject to change!
hi, I did everything as you said in the video but every time I try to start the simulator it closes even before the loading screen. does anyone know how to help me?
Thanks for your work, in my case, this only works with HDR10 enabled, and there is also texture flickering, any thoughts on this?
My card is RTX 2070 Super OC
This is great, went from 35-40 to the 70s. HOWEVER; do *NOT* change graphics settings during flights, or the game will crash with this mod running. There is shimmering when in exterior camera on the UI but that doesn't bother me much.
It took some trial & error, but working for me. I have a 3070 laptop. I could get max 15fps on mostly high settings over London City, flying low. Now it's 40-50. The recent release (no registry change) didn't work, as far too glitchy. The previous version is very good tho. I get very minor graphical issues when moving about in the cockpit, but well worth it for the extra FPS. In a stock 172 at a few thousand feet, I'm at 55-60fps. Even the FENIX at payware EGLL is now doable. 20-25fps on the ground. Used to be lucky to get double figures.
It probably works differently on different systems. The latest version is working fine on mine
I did everything as explained however in the main menu, it’s very choppy and delayed and I see flickering textures. Only in the main menu, I didn’t even get into the game as it took forever to load?
Any idea? I was using the latest update
I have an I5-13600K and 12gb RTX3080 at 3440x1440p rez on a 165mhz Oled monitor, and the frame mod works brilliant for me with an average of over 100fps everywhere with all on ultra too. Fabulous mod. Done about 10hrs now and it looks and performs brilliant for me. I use TAA. I do not have vsync on either in game or via the nvidia driver.
This gives me hope that I will be able to some day run MSFS at a good fps. At the moment my SkyLake i7 6700k with GTX1080 struggles to get 20fps at Gatwick in the FBW A32NX (80% scaling and low settings😢)😅
Got all of this installed and running. Once in the cockpit of the Fenix A320 it became painfully obvious this mod was not going to work for me. I was seeing doubled frame rates but the cold and dark cockpit was a complete mess. Knobs and switches were turned helter skelter and not even the batteries would switch on. Uninstalled the mod and all was put right again, except the frame rates were back to normal. Maybe it's a Fenix thing. I noticed the videos I watched were in PMDG 737's. If anyone figures this out I would love to know. Even the EFB couldn't connect to the internet.
Hi AirNOTT - your comments on this appreciated please.....
I have been using the FBWa32nx aircraft in MSFS with my graphics settings at 1920x1080, TAA with V-Sync on, but set to 50% monitor refresh rate (via the NVIDIA Control panel). With these settings I was getting very smooth graphics most of the time (landing on 09L at EGLL) with just the occasional brief stutters which always happened at the same point on my approach. Having turned Frame Gen on and switching V-Sync back to it's ON setting (again via the NVIDIA Control panel) I now get none of the occasional brief stutters mentioned above but the graphics are now not as silky smooth as they were with 50% monitor refresh rate enabled (I now see almost continuous, really tiny micro-stutters virtually all the time). Just wondering if you have any setting suggestions to help resolve this issue? Many thanks......
Well it’s good to hear people not wanting to upgrade from 3000 series or lower. Not forced to get a 4000 series for smooth flight sim
Yep, tbh though Im not sure how it’ll hold up over the long term as a day to day solution. We’ll see!
@@AirNOTT well when amd fluid motion frames become mainstream available across a wise variety of games you should just be able to use that as they said it would be available on Nvidia amd intel gpus.
I hope this gets out to everyone that reads this, IF you are having problems with your VR having stutters, lags, or other problems, TRY THIS, get into your game or sim, like normal, Start your VR Does not matter what Headset, When you are in your VR Games or sim, TURN OFF YOUR MONITOR, Because all Your resources will go to the VR headset and not shared between Your VR headset and your Monitor. Try this, You might be surprised just how better your VR is. Then when your done playing, take off You Headset and turn your Monitor back on, YOU DO NOT NEED YOUR MONITOR ON WHEN YOUR IN VR.? Save the resources of your Video Card to your VR headset. "Comment me back if you see a difference" OH and your Temp will be much lower on your Video card.
I'll try that.
I have a 3080 hybrid. I will try this after work later today. Thank you.
Can you do a comparison like this but at the FlyTampa Vegas airport with the sphere? Curious how taxing that airport would be on your system
Hi, can you tell me how you are loading up the nvidia performance tool whilst in the sim? Is it a keybind you're using.
Alt and R
Great video :) Whats your view on Google Map Enhancement? Can that be used no matter what settings you are doing in Nvidia or any other mod / ad-on based on graphic performance? Thank you.
You can still use Google Map Enhancement and you'll receive the benefits.
What kind of monitor do you have ?
Hello friend, there is new version of frame gen 0.90, do we take universal files or like the old one just ".....the best" and "nglnx.dll" ? i'm a little confused.
Universal, no more registry edit, just drop dll files in game directory, delete old ones.
Meanwhile as AMD user I can’t even use FSR3 yet, well played
There's a new version out where you don't need to touch the registry. I've got constant 60 fps (locked) in the most demanding payware Airports. There is the occasional stutter on panning with trackir but rare
Is it the same installere method?
All you have to do is run the installer. No need to modify the registry
How do you run the installer please? I thought it is just dropping two files in there @@HA-hp6ui
Does it work? I dont see any thumbnails down thanks to UA-cam....
Hey airnot I have the same pc specs. But I have in munich payware on a a330x from horizon on the ground 40 fps. Before I have without frame generation 25 fps. But do you have 70 fps on gatwick. Snd the texturen of street is very bad on my ground. You have a better graphics. Can you helm me ?
nix A320 or the PMDG 737? Cheers.
Hi airNOTT, I did enable frame gen but I keep getting a lot of stutters and lags. I have a 3080 i9, Any suggestions?
After a month of using, I've got pop up error after 1-2 hours of flight: "Your graphic device has encountered a problem and the application will exit. Error: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG (0x887a0006). This could be due to either of: 1) a driver fault 2) an application bug 3) graphic card overheating 4) graphic card overclocking. IMPORTANT: You appear to be using DirectX 12, whose support is still in BETA. The error may disappear when switching back to DirectX 11.
Anyone? please. This is frustrated.
I fixed mine tried alot of things, registry editor TrLink to 0 Hex, down clocking GPU, updating drivers.
I have a 4060 and mine is already built in to the sim and I do not get any good results with this. I have a 4060 and an 15 13400f, and a 4k tv. is my 4k tv the problem why I am hovering around 30-40fps and cant get any higher? I lowered my graphics settings to medium and my resolution to 1440p, and it looks terrible. Do i need to get a new monitor (1440p) or RAM? I have 16GB RAM
I tried DLSS on my RTX 4070 and the quality was terrible. So blurry, weird lines, and random artefacts everywhere. Not sure if that’s what it is supposed to look like?
Try TAA instead of DLSS, then enable frame gen. Thats the sweet spot IMO
lol I am a AMD user and we can't use it properly in MSFS. What I do is let the gpu be the limiting factor ( high resolution ) and have the cpu be lower ( hope you get the point). On a 7900xtx with 24gb vram and a 7950 with 3dcache this is possible. Gives me a stutter free result on 3440x1440 with renderscale on 170, around 40 to 50 fps on heavy airports like Klax with a little AI. Image If AMD users can use it also.
i cant see the NVIDA DLSS FRAM GENERATION option need help
Have you already tested a landing approach at Gatwick or Heathrow? For me, this mod causes strange artefacts when landing and a stutter when you move the camera.
try reduce setting to medium
Hopefully they will come out with one for GTX, I won't be able to get an RTX anytime soon.
Not possible, it is a built in software for RTX series exclusively , something that GTX cards does not have.
Hi AirNOTT. I am impressed by the handling of the PMDG 737 on the final approach sequence at the beginning of your video. Do you mind sharing your MSFS Elevator, Aileron and R
udder sensitivty settings please?
This is really great but unfortunately it does not seem to work in VR just flat monitor.
Does this work on DCS as well?
My friend, in your graphic settings, your AMD FIDELITYFX SHARPENING is set on zero, why ? Did you set it somewhere else ?
Does anybody know a fix for the Frame Generation automatically switching on and off throughout a sim session? I sometimes notice big differences and also I notice some "bugs" when moving views with Frame Generation on. I don´t have a problem with these small bugs and don´t bother these as the little stuttering I sometimes have without the mod would be worse for me personally. But that gives me quite a good understanding of when the mod is actually at work and when it´s not even though everything is activated. Take Miami as an example. I know using airliners like the PMDG 737, I´ll have microstutters there. The Frame Generation mod would normally eliminate these stutters for me. However, I notice Frame Generation linking out once the stutters return for some time and the view shifting bugs I have with the mod disappear. Once the stutters are gone, the vew shifting bugs are back.
I think it´s obvious that Frame Generation automatically pauses and unpauses randomly.
Hello in my "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common" there's no FlightSimulator. How can I fix this
Thanks for sharing, Im about to try this out. Do you think it can with DCS World? Subbed.
can confirm that it works well in msfs2020 on a 3060.
Most likely because a lot of multiplayer games will see it as a cheat and it could get you banned. No idea about DCS tbh. I’m not 100% sold on using this as a regular thing, but it was fun to try it. Makes me want a 4000 series nvidia all the more!
@@AirNOTT Yeah, makes sense. Looked into DCS, its currently not possible. I buy every other generation of card as rule. waiting for 5000 series
Game changer! Glad I only bought a 2070 super! It’s fantastic!
Hey man, I've tried sourcing numerous videos on how to get frame gen to work. The only reason I can't get it to work is because in the menu, there's no option for me to select frame generation in the sim. I have a 3050ti and have the sim on DX12. Can anyone help me?
Have you tried enabling dlss, I find that the option for frame generation only appears after enabling dlss
@@NettiesNL in the NVIDIA settings or in the sim?
@@PhilMC_ Hey Phil I would be to help, are you on Discord?
@@confuseddad2865 I'm having the same issue in the event anyone has figured it out. No frame gen checkbox no matter what I do...
i assume this works on radeon cards as well?
I have a 3070 and this does NOT work when you use MSFS Pop out
Just wondering if anyone has tried this mod when flying the FBWa32nx?. I'm interested to know if the cockpit and displays/switches still look good and all work correctly before I dive in and make the changes.....
I tried it myself - looks good - no issues encountered .....
I've tried it, its pretty mid. when panning the cameras around you can see pixels being formed making everything have very jagged edges. If you look forward the entire time and make very gradual turns you might like it but this is not for proper 60fps gameplay.
What's the maximum refresh rate of your monitor and have you got V-sync on or off? From what you're describing there it sounds like you've got V-sync off and you're getting a mismatch between the refresh and frame rates.
first of all the mod is worse than real frame gen. It uses amd version, not nvidia. On top of that, frame gen sucks when you have below 40 fps to begin with. If you can pull 60fps, and then turn on frame gen it's perfect. Just get a 4080 or better and a 14700k or better
@@I_Evo If you turn it off, you will have screen tear. FG is shit honestly, glitchy shadows and glitchy landing gear, as well as glitched out engine fan animations and more. Not worth it
@@DanielGarcia-mw8zg Thankfully I've got a VRR (variable refresh rate) display so I can have V-sync off and no tearing.
I have an RTX 2070 and after following the instructions my Frame Rate actually went down. Does this work with the RTX 2070? If so what might be the issue?
im using a 3070 and also for me it went down
Hey m8 i must download tweaks 0.90 or the first one 0.90;
Great video, but I have a problem downloading from Nexus Mods. You have to be a Premium member to download the file. Did you have to also, or is this something new?
Is there a way to download the mod without having to pay to the subscription site hosting it?
Yes there are links futher down the page, dont use the DL button at the top
great video...wish they had something like this for a 1080Ti...🤔
I have a 4070 and dont even use frame generation. I find it isnt as sharp
does it work with laptop rtx 4060? what would happen if i enable dlss on my rtx 4060 and use the frame gen mod?
Don’t go anywhere near this with a 4060. You already have proper frame gen built in
@@AirNOTT ok thank you
Does anyone have the issiue of Overheating?
anyone not getting "Nvidia DLSS Frame Generation" showing in the settings page?
I’ve tried this and my game crashes i get crazy graphics glitches sometimes the game won’t even start
weird, no such issues here. Sure it's not another plug in causing it?
Tried it, had bad screen tear and my click spots were messed up. Sim was definitely more smooth. Deleted it, I’m on the rtx 3060.
Unfortunately for me it’s more hassle than it’s worth.
@@t5.campervanjan401 i turn the vsync on in the nvidia control panel i don’t have screen tear now and i just tryied it again and it’s playing fine
@@t5.campervanjan401 I’m on a 3080
@@AirNOTT no i actually tried it again and it’s working miracles haha
i haven´t the steam version so, how can I install it?
Does this work with GTX 1650 super? I head there was some rumours around it
Wouldn’t know, sorry!
not sure if it has enough vram to do so
Everyone I strongly suggest you do System Restore backup prior to performing any registry changes!
Does this work for VR?
I only fly in VR using the PiMax Crystal and using a RTX 4070. I have followed the instructions and anecdotally I find I get better performance when not using the Open XR Toolkit and default nVidia Cp and Inspector setting.
I cannot see any difference in VR - I don't really care about FPS so long as I have clear instruments and smooth scenery motion over cities.
If I enable this mod, the framerate drops from 60 to 30, whats wrong? 🤔 (Ryzen 7800 X3D, 3080ti)
Same here. I've got no idea why.
Can you do a PMDG 737 full flight tutorial PLEASE!?
There are plenty of past live streams on the channel that you might want to use to follow along
Thank you, I will check them out. @@AirNOTT
Interestingly my frame rate declined with FG enabled.
Hello, I have followed your video step by step, however I don get to see the frame generation option in msfs. Do you guys know why it might be? I have an Nvidia rtx 3070. Thanks!!
U have to Set DirectX12 in the msfs settings
I have an i9 13,9 and its frustrating that fs2020 doesn't use it.
Yep, it’s a massively single threaded title unfortunately. Nice CPU though!
It’s ridiculous for sure. You shouldn’t need the nasa PC to run it.
Has anybody been able to figure out how to get this to work in VR?
It does not work in VR for me either. Hope we find an answer
@@MrImperativeoz Based on the original support forum on github, this mod is not compatible with VR, as "similar tech is already included in VR"
I find the problem with frame gen with a 4K TV is you have to use Game Mode.
The image quality is massively compromised as a result.
It's not exclusive to the 40-series anymore! And boy, is that going to hurt their sales, if they really care about GPUs now that their AI stuff is launching. It's damn impressive, though.
Should leave the FGENERATION ON IM CONFUSED
Work on RTX 3060 12GB, thx lot!!!!
My sim wont launch now?
When I disable the reg sim wont launch, when i re-enabl the reg it starts again, cant use on my RTX 2080ti, maybe microsft did something?
Is there a way to DL this mod without paying the Nexus subscription fee?
yes you can! it's completely free
We spent 2000 euros just a few months ago to buy the 3000 series and now we are forced to run at 20fps on this simulator
As far as I'm concerned nvidia has closed with me next pc will be all AMD.
It's absurd that if AMD managed to do this, nvidia can't (or doesn't want to) do it.
Not worth it. A lot of shimmering across the screen when I move the Drone Camera around. And it seems to not run smoother like expected. Might be getting more frames, but the stutters are still there. Thanks for your work though. Awesome explanation. But I think the best option is to just get a 4 series card and a higher CPU.
Yep, I’d be inclined to agree. Fun to experiment with it though.
VR relevant?
Unsure! Yet to try vr
@@AirNOTT I tried it .. cannot see a difference with TAA, DSLL DLAA or Quality options with my 3080.

I can not copy the 2 new files into the folder msfs in windowsapps because of less memory space. 😢😢
Frankly, I have a 3070 and I don't see a performance difference between 4K and 1080p
Doesn’t work if you install msfs to another drive, no where to put the files
THere is always a place to put the files ^^ Otherwise the game would not run. If you have installed it to another drive you simply have to go there. It has to be the folder where the exe file is located. I also have it on another drive, no problem.
Request: May you try XP12?
I have an RTX 3050, running MSFS on medium settings (clouds, grass, and trees on ultra). I get about 30 FPS in most areas without this frame gen mod. How much do you think I can get with the mod?
No need for mods for me i have 105 FPS
i have HUD problem with this mod. this isnt a good solution sry. also shadows are buggy etc etc ... be careful
cant find my Microsoft store file
wow wow~~~~~ very good!! 55FPS to 94FPS

this mod have no freaking sense... whats the point to get 60-70 fps with those stutters ?
wait i didint do anything
im on 3070 and its just extremely stuttery, all the shapes of everything all over the place
Too bad its for rtx only
Don’t use it. UI stutters and it f*ck up your scenery.
We all know AMD is in fact not better
😂
No one actually knows what this does to your files I personally don't trust it so I am not touching it.
Think it I will get a 4090 anyway or a 50 series when it comes out.
Don't put this mod on your sim. Fucked up my PC, and spent a few hours talking with support to get it only half fixed. It's not worth the hassle, just buy a new card.
What was your specs?
I have tried this but i don't get the DLSS Frame Gen coming up i have followed it exactly?
