How severe is the condition if heterozygous instead of homozygous for the ABCG5 mutation?

Thank you for the highly detailed information about this rare genetic disorder. However there are no books on how to deal with this very serious disease. What would you recommend as treatment? Do i have to be on Ezetimbe forever? Nearly every food has plant sterols. I cant just drink water. Does cooking foods deactivate the plant sterols? Thank you.

I have been on a low fat diet with ezetimibe for a year and my levels are still not normal, which is supposed to be zero. I have read that DT2s like me can show sitosterolemia with only one gene copy but the mechanism is unknown and I can find no doctors who know how to treat this or anybody who does the genetic testing that would determine whether I am heterozygous or monozygous for the gene.

This is why I'm here. I have it also.
And I was watching one doctor that said that eating animal fats instead and going on more of a carnivore diet would help. I have no idea if this is true so that's why I'm trying to find more information.

I have these 2 genes. Do not eat plant foods. Cook with animal fats like lard or ghee.

What are the nutritional benefits of sitosterols in our diet if we don't have the above genetic defect?

there are some articles indicating usefulness of beta-sitosterol in the treatment of benign prostatic hypertrophy and in reducing cholesterol.

Hi, thanks for your presentation. I have these gene mutations, unfortunately there is not a lot of info about it like like treatment or diet . I would like to find out more about it, also I do have some questions like the exercise will help? Do I need to get a coronary cat scan ? Thanks

@@florentinapetrescu5690 I just did a dna analysis and discovered I have ABCG8. You basically have to avoid plant sterols, seed oils, etc. I've gone carnivore and all of my symptoms have gone away.

I hyper absorb cholesterol when I eat eggs and saturated fat. When I avoid these and replace them with plant fats, my cholesterol and LDL-C will drop.
After uploading my 23&Me data to GeneFood, it said that I am a sterol hyper absorber and that I should only eat avocados, nuts, and seeds a few times PER MONTH.
If I do not eat animal fat or plant fats, I will have to eat carbohydrates for energy but I have an impaired glucose metabolism.
