    Another tip that works for me is heating a spoon (under hot, running water, for example) until it's very warm, but not so warm that it burns your skin, and then pressing it against your bite. The heat makes your skin release all the antihistamines at once, making it very itchy for a short while before calming it down completely for a few to several hours. :> Very effective on mosquito bites.

    Though citronella grass may sometimes be called lemongrass, they are two different plants.

    i've heard of the slapping trick, but i also remember i'd always used to do the whole marking an X over the bug/mosquito bite with your nail trick to stop the itching... idk if there's any merit to that, but it's always worked for me :P

    I actually wouldn't recommend lemon eucalyptus because citrus essential oils make your skin light sensitive and if you tan really easily, you might get little freckles. I'd recommend replacing it for lavender and clove! (:

    Another easy remedy is using a pure lavender oil. It’s calming right?! So it calms down the skin, taking away the itch and you smell great as well😁. If I may make this statement without being critical plz. We are all here to help one another. Aura Cacia is not a pure oil. Just as in any product there cheap and expensive versions of the item we want. If the oil is pure, essential oils are expensive to produce properly. Through my research, I learned that for an oil to be labeled as 100% pure, the FDA only requires that oil to have 5% of the oil and then the rest are fillers, which generally contain chemicals. That was very disheartening to learn as we expect the FDA to protect us. A good way to know of an oil is pure is to do our homework. Call the company and ask pertinent questions such as, when do you harvest your plants? What is the condition of the soil? Do you use any chemicals in the processing? Do you own your own farms or buy from a 3rd party? Do your own sniff test. About seven years ago I developed chemical and environmental allergies, so I had to learn everything about every product I used and that was very time consuming. I have learned more than I ever thought I would care to know. My sense of smell has been acutely heightened since I have developed these allergies and I can tell you just by smelling something whether it has a chemical in it or not. Aura Cacia are not pure. I can smell the chemicals. You can test it for yourself if you would like. Take that brand and buy a brand such as Young Living, DōTERRA or Mountain Rose herbs, as an example. Even amongst those 3, there is a big difference in the quality. My nose never fails me. I just want you and others to be informed because the whole purpose of EO’s are to manage our health without chemicals right? I don’t think anybody in this category would knowingly put chemicals on their body. The whole point is to avoid them. I hope this helps to get ppl to think about what we put on and into our bodies and question all ingredients, even when they day “pure or natural”. Thank you for your channel. I have enjoyed finding it.

    I remember making natural bug spray many moons ago, but can't recall if I ever got a chance to use it. It's sitting in my storage facility now so I wonder if it still any good. LOL! I still have all my essential oils from back then as I had just gotten started on making natural products. I will say I tried natural body lotion and was not a fan. I like the idea of natural products, but sometimes the homemade stuff just doesn't come up to scratch. When I get my hands on essential oils again, I'll have to give this a try and tell you if it works or not. :) Love all the criss-crossing straps on the top of your dress. Very cute!

    Citronella and lemongrass are two different plants, they are from the same family but don’t never mix them up as being the same

    • @sharrodstewart9579
      @sharrodstewart9579 6 років тому

      Citronella is a compound harvested from Lemongrass; i.e., if you have Lemongrass, you have Citronella. There is no plant known simply as Citronella. It must be harvested from a form of Cymbopogon (Lemongrass).
      You can; however, buy Citronella oil, which, again, is a compound extracted from Lemongrass.

    Interesting. But Lemongrass is not the same as Citronella. But I read they're both good insect repellent. And the way you put the essential oil in? I don't know... You might have put waaay more than 30 drops each.

      I wouldn't recommend it for your cat, as I know certain Essential Oils are toxic to them, like Peppermint, lavender, and tea tree oils. Try doing an apple cider vinegar spray diluted with water (50:50 ratio) as I know that is safe!

      I've used this on my dog, but I think each dog is different in terms of sensitivity to essential oils. Definitely to be on the safe side, use apple cider vinegar as I know that is good for their coat too!

    Natural does not always mean safe. Its one of the biggest misconceptions. Crude oil is natural, originated as plants, and is distilled like essential oils. Tequila is also natural, made from plants, and distilled like essential oils. So is wine naturally fermented from fruit. Yet all those are well known cancer risks.

    • @thelasttaarakian
      @thelasttaarakian 5 років тому +2

      No one ever said just because its natural that it is safe.
      But these ingredients in this context are most likely safer to use than DEET when applied topically.
      Did you know being alive increases your chance for cancer? Stop fear mongering.
