Im glad other also agree that Joyboy is likely just a nickname. His real name likely has connections to the Will of D.. IIRC, the leader if the ancient kingdom bore a name with the letter D, and was "natural enemy of the gods". Obviously this was Joyboy, or rather the original joy boy. Further more, I think once Luffy learns of this original name it might serve to give him more power.

Luffy is abbreviation of Lucifer, recorded by the world ruling god (church), spotted on the land of America. Mayan's call their son God Ah Kin(Nikha backwards), and Hanuman(Mokey D.) city was found at Mayan lands of Honduras. Mayans offered rubber for rituals, while Hanuman had power to shrink or enlarge. Hanuman who ate the Sun referred as Ah Kin (Nika) by Mayans, and Lucifer (Luffy) by the Church. Hanuman father Vayu (God of wind) referred as the spirit of air in Ancient American myths in form of Dragon.
Luffy's gear transformations have very clear logic. Gear 2 pumps veins, Gear 3 pumps bones, gear 4 pumps muscle. Gear 5 pumps the part of the body that pumps everything in the body: heart. The white color represents how drums of liberation heart beat accelerate nutrient flow (which is why luffy eats a lot) to cells. Energized cells emit more light, represented by beaming white color. When cells run out of energy, they emit less light and become old (gear 5 side effect). Heart pumps muscles and blood flow way better than trying externally (Luffy blowing air into muscle, bones, squizeeing legs etc). So yes, technically, Luffy is still just a Rubber Man. However, it still suits best for the title of Sun God, generally known as God of Agriculture (Strawhat). Sun light delivers energy to cells. Luffy's heartbeat change his personality liveliest possible, and his cells emit energy with white light. Maybe mix of light and steam. I think this is very much correct.

Supposedly in either SBS or a recent interview Oda said he's still limiting G5 Luffy to a degree. Most likely the reason why Luffy turns everything to rubber in G5 is beacuse he still thinks he's using the gomu gomu no mi.
I really like this theory. Something that always was strange about gear 5 is that luffy is supposedly sun god Nika, yet when the reveal happened they silhouette Luffy against not the sun, but the moon. Maybe things aren't as Oda is telling us, and these are hints
The moon have the light of the sun. Also the fight happened at night so there is no sun.

I always interpreted the manga to mean that he is all powerful, and that's why he has toon force. He just believes he is rubber and therefore locks his mind to that like what he believes becomes reality, and he believes he is rubber. That is how I always took it.
That doesn't really make much sense because why then Luffy's arm strechted before Shanks told him the name of the fruit, this proves that the powers are inherently rubbery.

I believe Luffy is the only one who was always Joyboy since the beginning. In a way he was destined to be Joyboy. But he can still use Joyboy’s power to change the future to his version of what he represents. I think Luffy will be very similar to the previous Joyboy but there will be significant differences in the two Joyboys
100%, like if your Oars is Joyboy theory is true, the size and species difference alone between the first Joyboy and Luffy will show us how being Joyboy is a state of mind/will and theoretically anyone could do it (but obviously luffy is the chosen one for this period)
Old Joy Boy was likely Imu. There are going to be differences alright.

What if Brook kept Zoros soul in his body after the “Nothing Happened” incident. This would work out because Brook tells Zoro during Sabaody that he saw what he did. Just a thought to consider 👀

You know since you mentioned the Medaka Mermaid Quintuplets maybe they represent the 4 Gods that was mentioned in Nolands flashback which are the God of Sun, Forest, Rain, & Earth while maybe Yonka 2 is to either throw us off or indicate that there was a missing god
I get the feeling that the gods of one piece were space travellers and that space is also where the celestial dragons come from. They even have astronaut suits. Could it be that the original one piece "earthlings" were minks, giants, fishmen, dwarves perhaps and that humans are actual aliens, together with the skypieans and lunarians? one piece goes further and further into scifi territory which is interesting

It’s interesting to me that there are different types of videos for different types of fans. There are levels to this. Oda has his own logic for everything. Then there is the fans that try to match Oda’s logic by digging too deep, but then there is a risk there of it being too complicated to actually be part of the story because Oda might think deeply about this stuff, but he is also focusing on making it all digestible to casual viewers. We also have the theorists that try to appeal more towards casual fans. We have people that analyze, often focusing on the deeper side of the casual perspective. And then we have casual fans. Finally infrequent casual fans.
I like the ideas in here, you’re definitely cooking. There is a chance a lot of these ideas are things that Oda is thinking about, but could easily not make the page or at least remain vague throughout the series. I definitely think even when the series is over there will still be a lot for the fans to decipher.
I’m 100% on the Brook’s relationship to joyboy in some way and I want so badly to hear more about this soul stuff. It’s clearly a big part of the story with Vegapunk saying souls literally have weight. Great video Dak!
I’m also really annoyed by the manga/anime trope of side characters only getting to the height of their power at the end of the series because it doesn’t give us a lot of time to appreciate it. I’d rather final battles be strategic than won by latent power ups. So if Brook awakens, I hope isn’t isn’t only in the final battle.
Personally i view most one piece theories as alternate possibilities for the story rather than predictions, much more enjoyable that way imo
This theory makes me think about how Luffy's awakening represents the Mind/Will (you could say body but his willpower forces his body to stay alive past its limits), Brook's power is about the Soul (for obvious reasons), and maybe Imu represents the Body. Being immortal, and possibly having something to do with Saturn (and hopefully the other gorosei) being nigh unkillable with strange devil fruit powers. It would be cool if they don't have devil fruit weaknesses. Some people say Yokai fruits, but I wonder if it's a Chimera situation where it's literally just a mishmash of the strongest animals. Something to think about!
What if there’s more to Brook’s backstory and how much more he could be connected to Joy Boy and the past. As far as we know he’s had his fruit for a while so it’s possible he’s had it for centuries and the only reason he’s a skeleton now was because he couldn’t get his soul back in his body as quickly as he could’ve in any other event of him dying. Also when we see him in the flashback he has a scar on his head which is the now a crack on his skull but it could indicate a brain injury potentially meaning he lost his memory of being hundreds of years old (or being from the void century) when the Rumbar pirates found him and all he remembered was his love for music. It’s very possible we could see him and his noticeable afro in a joy boy flashback in the future.

I see lot of of similarities between the awakening of df's and togashi post mortem nen, as increase their powers to another level and its required to temporarily die to be activated, plus luffy is the first awakening that we can see on the screen, maybe more will be explained in the future

This is a good point. However, I think we still need more information as we still don’t know the limits of gear 5 but as of right now I agree it just seems to be enhanced rubber abilities. Maybe this fruit is one of the first and that’s why it was named after a god first rather than what it really is a rubber fruit. Maybe in those times there was little to no devil fruits around so it was first hailed as the sun god fruit. Also, puzzling how Luffy’s abilities have no relation to the actual sun. Remains to be seen.
Edit: on second thought, makes perfect sense why the sun god had this fruit. Joy boy has such an immense amount of haki that he’s able to split the sky on his own. The first time we’ve seen that in the story. Big hint as to why joy boy is the sun god.

It being just a rubber fruit doesn't explain how it was escaping the world goverment for 800 years. Plus the drums of liberation heartbeat. I think those 2 things alone make it not just be a simple rubber fruit.

In my opinion Brook will be able return other people back to life (probably just as a ghost and temporarily though) and he will ultimately use this power to bring back the Rumbar Pirates so that they can all sing for Laboon one last time. Part of this theory is also that his dial will break and that could actually be the thing that causes his awakening. Hiruluk said that people only die when they are forgotten and as such Brook and Laboon’s memories of the Rumbar Pirates could literally cause them to stay alive long enough to play one last song.
Edit: Brook is also introduced in Thriller Bark where we see Gecko Moria is able to make zombies so having his awakening parallel Moria like that would be fitting.

Right. Sun god. A title.
What is more free than the Sun himself? What can absolutely anybody do to stop the sun from doing what it does? Scream, beg, cry? The Sun can not be controlled. You can hide, you can run, you can even build a global umbrella... but none of that has affected the Sun.
I think that's the point? "One day everything the light touches will be your Kingdom Simba." "It is the circle of life."
Now that I think about it. The Sun is always everywhere, even if behind a storm cloud. The Sun is the giver of all life on Earth. The Sun is so impossibly far away, in its own world even. So far from reach of any man no matter how strong. Something that imposes itself on us, and is impossible to resist.
The more I think about it the more it sounds like this is partly the intention? Joy Boy is the freest man of freedom. The king of freedom. Something that is effortless in its complete imposition on the world. Just like the Straw Hats. One after another bad guy downed, and it keeps happening to be the next big bad guy up the food chain. Leaving people joyful and free in their wake. Literally changing history. With a smile and a laugh.
Here’s a cool thing I came up with with the info of this theory:
“ Poor, poor, Imu, thought he could outsmart nature, but for not, as freedom is like a buzzing bee, floating around, never contained, he thought he could repress, make the world primitive, but for not, poor, poor, Imu, your joy will soon fade, and joy will prosper. “

Considering what u mentioned about souls being in devil fruits. Let's take a look at Blackbeard's whole situation in that he possesses the power of 2 DFs. When we meet him Luffy and Zoro sense there's more than 1 person, and later on we find out from Buggy that he doesn't sleep. Based on this, it could be that his dark dark fruit powers allow him to absorb souls (or the souls within DFss). It can definitely be seen how Big Mom makes homies, but in this case just for Blackbeard. It will be as if his body is a vessel for many souls n not just 3 or maybe it is idk lol. Eitherway, i think back what if the soul flies away from a dead DF user (like Whitebeard) similar to how brookes soul leaves and finds its way back to his body. Blackbeard covered him and went under, only to come out with the quake quake powers. This can mean that maybe when covered and with the ability to take in objects (like we saw in his fight v. Ace) that maybe he can do the same with souls. Such can explain why they perceived him as multiple people or that he had a weird body. His body must be a sort of vessel for these souls (as to how many he has, welll 3 is a good number I'd say). Which can bring another question, why is his body like that? the obvious answer can be a DF b4 the dark dark fruit, something that cannot only give him spaces for more souls (of people n DFs) but also give him the power to scar shanks. Well that's what came to mind after watching lol great vid btw, i enjoyed it!
I always thought that Blackbeard has a split personality or he ate his brother in the womb ( that happens in real life too ) and because of that he can have a devil fruit for each one of his personalities or he can have 2 because or his brother's soul being inside him . Maybe that's why he stays awake all the time , when one of his personalities sleep the other takes over . Blackbeard is definitely a mystery

What if the pils in the national treasure of fish man island is made of some sort of luffy's devil fruit extract. Thats why they eye turn Red, becomes power full and even hody became White like luffy and when it worned off they became old, like Luffy also do after gear 5.

There are so many scattered ideas in this video that at least spending 1 minute at the end to bring all the thoughts to a cohesive point would be good. You mentioned the minks and fish men and energy steroid and that stuff and also mentioned the fact that nika may not be what we think it is.. do these two separate thoughts come together in any way? Or are they just separate gear 5 theories you threw together?

Yeah pretty much this is the best theory I have ever hear. It's so straight forward that I wonder why we didn't even see it before, there is nothing about the fruit that really relates to the sun (we just want to make connection because we are theoriest) he is just a rubber man + freedom.

IMO, there also has to be some involvement of Haki for awakening and/or sustaining G5. Luffy's outbursts of Conqueror's Haki, even when being idle in the awakened state, are pretty insane.

Interest question on how the Nika fruit was conceptualised. However, I don't think Luffy's fruit is just rubber. He turns white, uses fire abilities and becomes joyfully manic which is unanswered. Gear 5 also causes an unconscious drum heartbeat and passively rubifying everyone, which caused their eyes to pop out, the dazed stars, and a balloon welt on Kaido's head. It would be odd for all that to be because of awaken rubber. Also, all the references saying it's not paramecia/rubber it would be convoluted if Oda swapped it back to just rubber again.

brook and luffy are also the crew members who both have the most unnatural bodies and unexplained things about them like them drinking milk to heal their bones, correct me if im wrong but i don't think any other crew members have done that. We know if you ate 2 devil fruit at the same time, you will die but do you still get the power before you die. For example, what if Joyboy ate the Gomu gomu no mi and then right before his kingdom fall (something he already knew was gonna happened and was evidently preparing for) he ate the Yomi yomi no mi (maybe his memories were taken away by a Memo memo no mi user before he died or his memories is gone because it wasn't his original body)

Luffy can be using only rubber powers. The god ribbon is steam turned to rubber. Him turning into a giant? That's life return. Remember kumadori, and rob lucci, they can use life return to force their consciousness or will into parts of their body to control their internal organs or even hair at will. That would also explain how luffy can force his heart to beat, he is using life return.

imo Parvision’s Shadows and Devilfruits being training wheels for peak Haki theories close some gaps here, i think the nika fruit is created from the will of joyboy which comes with he innate knowledge of his haki abilities and those abilities have something to do with shadow control, a lot of great points in this video tho, especially with the connection between joyboy and brook which also works well with that oars theory

I think Luffy is either a reincarnation, or joy boy was the birth of the D. Legacy. Only reason why I say that is because the literal fear imu, has for anyone with that in their name. Plus a couple solid leads I have with alot of background from the story from the beginning.

I personally think Gear 5 is an evolution of Gear 4 more than anything else, and he achieves it via "Heart balloon".
Heart balloon would explain so much! It clearly connects with his previous gears. It explains why his heart beat
changed, and the ballooning of his heart would cause it to resonate like a drum. You could also say that his heart
becoming bigger would balloon his spirit, causing him to become more joyful, and increase the power of his haki.
Gear 4's forms also have the suffix "man" which could be a foreshadowing of it being a human devil fruit.
And "man" also implies that "boy" could be another potential state that he could go into, hence "Joyboy".

Well, what if "The Will of D" is actually "The Will of the Devil". This could explain why the D clan are the enemies of the gods, because devils are the enemies of gods. This might also explain why characters like Luffy and Roger, characters who have big dreams, inherit the Will of D. It would also make sense why nobody else can find the One Piece, because only the most special pirates have The Will of D. And if the devil himself, Joyboy, was the sole person who passed The Will of D down, it would make sense that The Will of D refers to one person as D. The Will of D could also be The Will of Dreams which would also fit the Joyboy explanation, so maybe it could stand for both, but it might just stand for Devil and Dreams could be a second meaning, which wouldn't be out of the ordinary considering that as you brought up, Jone, Jonah and Joyboy could be different names for the same person like how Luffy has the names Luffy, Luffytaro and Lucy, and this might also mean that there is a third name assosciated with D, which might actually be Davy/Davy Jones, making the D name stand for Dreams/Davy/Devil. Also, I think that Vegapunk is incorrect about how devil fruits work, and it is that devil fruits have devils themselves seald inside of them. I think this, because I think that Nika and Joyboy were actually enemies who fought for different sides, with Nika fight as a God, or celestial dragon, and Joyboy fighting as a D, or devil. I think that Joyboy and Nika fought and stalemated, and Joyboy made a deal with Nika. That they would both be sealed inside of a fruit, and whoever ate it would have both of their powers and decide which of them were right. Luffy is now the freest man in the world, because he exists not on one side, but on both, and he is free to make his own decision of what to do. The celestial dragons are also talked about in a way that is similar to the Nika fruit. The celestial dragons are talked about as gods and were stated to be above logic, and gear 5 was said to be a ridiculous power, almost as if both are connected somehow. Also, Nika could be the "sun god" because he possessed the never ending power source that Vegapunk mentions and/or an artificial sun like the one the Vegapunk wants. If I'm wrong about Joyboy and Nika fighting, then Nika's full could possibly be Sun go D. Nika, Go D. Nika or Sungo D. Nika or something else similar to that, and like how people call Gol D. Roger Gold Roger, Nika may not have any connections to gods. His name might also be Go D. Nika and the reason he's called the sun god is because he has one of the energy sources I talked about earlier.
