Good work! I got my business management degree in May, 2022. Took me seven months. I have three classes left in the MBA program now. WGU is a great school for me.
Wow nice work! Yeah, in my opinion most schools should offer a WGU like option where you don't have to go to class and instead focus on learning material to show competency.
@@gunnardotson5822 entirely depends on you. I wouldn’t focus on that so much because you risk disappointing yourself. I was able to do an average of 4-7 courses a month. I finished the MBA the weekend after 127 days. I suggest you plan on the MBA after the BSBM. It was all a review plus expansion of the BSBM material.
First Congratulations! Whether you graduate from online WGU or a brick & mortar school, the job hunt is always hard. Always! Prospective employers see nothing but piles of identical resumes. Make yourself unique to stand out. Try to do as much networking, internships, and small work projects as you can. The good or bad news, depending on your perspective, is that after 4 years your degree is of little value. Schools cough-up new grads each semester to take enter level jobs. Employers need to see progress since graduating, because you need to move up the career ladder!
Good work. I finished my degree in Business - Marketing Management in 2016 in 9 months after working 20 plus years in the industry without it. It completely changed my life for the better! I went straight hermit to make it happen and it was worth every hour I spent studying and writing papers. Thanks to pell grants, my total out of pocket cost was less than $300. I will push WGU to my friends and colleagues every chance I get.
Great info, I would say that although receiving the degree doesn’t “guarantee “ a job. That being said, there are a lot of employers out there especially where I am in California that requires the degree to even apply. So you don’t even have a shot without the degree.
I'm in process of starting my bachelors in Cybersecurity through WGU myself, just waiting for all the financial stuff to process so I can start classes, question though, the courses that also count as Certs, do you get those as you finish as well or do you have to graduate first?
I’m not as familiar with cybersecurity curriculum. For the marketing track, I earned credits toward certain marketing certs with the American Marketing Association or something, but it was never apart of the program to sit for those certifications. It’s possible you’ll be prepared for your certs but will have to take them on your own time when you’re ready. Not sure though so take what I say with a grain of salt.
Are the courses hard? If someone is new to the material, the info they provide is it enough to study it and pass? How many hrs of study did you spend per course and did you have eny prior experience with the degree you aquired. Thanks
I was already working in revenue operations when I got my marketing degree so yeah I had experience. I honestly spend maybe five hours most on any given class. Any class that tests your knowledge of software will take longer because you can't guess like you can on multiple choice.
How much of your daily time did you give to the courses and wgu? I assume you took courses which you transferred credits for, how long did it take for you to get all those courses done? Also, how much focus did you give to the courses? Was this like a side thing you did or like a full time everyday school type? I’m a business owner and I also want to get a bachelor fast online, so I’m really wondering if it’s still possible to do this in a busy schedule without much headache. Please let me know any further, thank you
I have a few other videos about some of your questions for a more detailed answer, but I worked full-time for about a third of the time-- 3 months. The other 6 months were living off my savings and going full-time with school. For me I transferred 15 credits I think. Everything else was literally taking the tests and if I passed the practice exam I would immediately take the final exam, pass, and do it over again. I think my record was finishing 3 classes in one week. Took about 9 months in total with a break because I got burnt out. WGU is more or less designed for individuals like yourself. Even a couple hours before bed would yield good results.
My record was 3 classes start to finish in 3 days (all had OA, except one, and I passed it 1st attempt). I was working full time at our school district (40 hours per week, mon-fri), came home fixed dinner for the family (hubby, 5 kids, and myself), then did a couple hours (usually 7-9 or 10) doing classwork. My weekends were spent doing as much classwork as possible. When I started, I had no transferred credits at all. Like the saying goes...Where there's a will, there's a way!

Steve, if I may ask. Did you have any credits before you started? How long did it take you from the moment you began?
@@KJ-uk8iy I had zero college credit. 233 days total.
@@stevenjshedd that is impressive! How fast do you think I can finish if I transfer my associates and only need 19 classes

That's awesome! Hermit mode is the way to go sometimes
Very proud of you, congratulations! I’m currently watching this for motivation. I have 30 courses left. 😅
You can do it! I took a small break and talked with my program advisor which helped a lot
Hey Steve, I just wanted to thank you for creating this video. I’m looking at attending WGU and this helped.
Glad it was helpful!

Yeah that's exactly right. A degree strengthens your chances.
I live in Connecticut and I wonder if WGU offers programs in library science that are accredited by the American Library Association
@@jacobhutchinson332 I don't know 🤔
Congratulations 👏🎉 very helpful information now I know what will happen towards my end of my wgu journey.
Glad it helps, you'll get there in no time!
Thank you
Thank you. This was really helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
It was. Literally the next day the WGU page updated my records, status, and commencement information as you advised! Great work sir!@@eminsh

They are mailed to you by CompTIA as soon as you pass the exam & confirm your address at certmetrics.

For me it varied a lot for my bachelors. I would say 20-30 hours a week. I finished in 7 months. No previous college.

Thanks for the info. It’s good to see there is some support after graduation
