I feel like a slacker in the cold wind of Maryland US, -1C air temp, the only bonsai work I will do today is watch this video. Perhaps a trip to the nursery is in order. Thank you for the gift of your time Peter. Have a great day.
Many people think it’s about playing with trees and shaping trees but it’s not so simple. I have to sweep. Then proceeds to play and shape trees for the rest lol 😂
So therapeutic. I have three bonsai trees that I’m working on since I’ve started to watch Peter. I hear his voice as I wire, repot, and trim for ramification growth. I’m loving every moment of it.❤
Oh to live in a more temperate country, where I am there is still 1 foot of snow on the ground and 3 feet in the snowbanks. You are a month a head of us. Thanks for keep us up to date! Keep up the great work.
I agree with the unsealing. I’ve seen videos of people extremely worried about sealing their cuts, and carving them so they heal over as quickly as possible. But these cuts add characteristic. I purposely dug one out in hopes one day it will look like a home for wildlife. They add age and hardship to the trees making them appear ancient as they’ve survived all the once in a century storms.
It makes me so happy to see someone not only taking pleasure in the work they do but showing excitement about it too. Plus there is always the entertainment factor of these videos of watching Mr Chan and his trust Fleco’s whipping like the wind through the trees making the improvements
I love how Mr. Chan begins with saying 'we don't play with trees all day long', sweeps two times, and then proceeds to play with trees the whole damn day.
His videos are so excellent, I love the spring time in So.Cali. everything right now is wet and cold buds and flowers popping open all over the yard, especially my Maples and Junipers...Thanks for the great videos and information...
Thank you for sharing that was a beautiful presentation of how beautiful you have made these wonderful trees I really enjoyed the video it was totally awesome keep on doing the beautiful things you do for the trees may God bless you. ❤️
Very good instructions! I tend to get excited when I see my trees coming back to life and will end up leaving them to grow and try to play catch-up in the summer which usually means they become lanky, with little ramifications. I hope I've just learned a new skill from you and see more fruitful results. Thank you sir.
What a wonderful place Herons is! I really would love to visit you all one day! I bought a mountain maple bonsai from you last year and it is absolutely stunning! Keep up the amazing work!
When you have passion for something even the day to day maintenance or cleanup is fun! Would love to know how many staff members work at the nursery??? I’ve watched quite a few videos since I discovered this channel & have never ever been bored as I am learning so much. Thank you Peter ❤️
hello sir greetings I'm from Indonesia I hope you are always healthy and long live so that you can always present extraordinary works in the art of bonsai
Here the day is March 18th and all of my trees have leaved out. Every single one. Tridents, Dawn Redwoods, Chinese elms, Japanese Maples, etc... so its a bit late to prune back shoots at the moment, even though I did some prior to the buds breaking, you just dont know sometimes if you went far enough until after they start shooting. I wish I had gone further on my Dawn Redwoods...they need much, much more ramification. I'm now trying to plan out fertilizing, whether to feed in a few weeks, or wait until later to try to get shorter nodes...
I am an interior landscaper. I maintain tropical plants in corporate buildings. The thing we do pretty much everyday is prune. We prune carefully at an out side node to promote growth to grow out rather than in towards the main trunk. Yet , you just snip with abandoned. Is it different pruning a bonsai than other plants?
I personally wouldn't recommand cutting your trees when you see buds on them in the early spring, because by cutting them than you stop a hormonal process inside the tree and make it weaker for the rest of the growing season. Wait till the end of spring as your trees have fully flushed out.
@@peterchan3100 thank u peter. Ill enjoy the flowers next year. My azalea had a bad year over the winter and the leafs and buds look like they need to be cut off. My azaleas have a hard time during the winter i even put them in the shed before the winter but the tree doesnt look like its doing well . I have a hard time preserving the buds for next year throughout the winter. Any ideas ? I prob should have put it in the shed before the fall to protect the tree i guess
You sweep for 22 seconds then go make sweeping mess for yourself again for next day, Why dont you take your wheel barrow and throw al the trash every tree you cut?

I like to see Peter going around pruning all the different trees. He moves like a whirlwind.
The staff: we were just done sweeping that lane 😅

Where do you live - are you warmer than in the south of England?

We do that as well. No crossing or inward growing branches and twigs. I do that instinctively that you probably dont notice it.

Over time a sort of relationship is formed between the care giver and the tree

Only 1000 more to do Peter 😊
😄👍
Where’s the link to your shop ?
Peter can i ask you....The horse chesnut upper branches are thicker then some of its lower branches. Is this a fault or not please?
Shouldn't be but if they look disproportionate then they can be removed.
@@peterchan3100 Thanks Peter.Look forward to all your videos
The bonsai is fery god
Should i cut back satsuki azaleas now or should i wait till spring and theres no more chance of frost?
Cut back after flowering if you want to enjoy the flowers - if not you can cut them back now.
