Love the styling on this one. Sometimes we focus so much on bringing down branches that forget to look at the overall shape. That tree will be an absolute stunner in no time under your care
Hello Ann and David, thanks for the nice video. Normally i don't find a Mugo pine as attractive as a bonsai, but you have made this a beautiful tree! Greetings from the Netherlands
Nice wiring tutorial. Easy to understand. Spring here in the Windy City and raining this Saturday evening. Nice work on the roots. New pot, new home for this tree and it will overwinter nicely for you. Great video!
Another very informative video for us. Root trimming demo helps us a lot as well as placement on soil to avoid dry air pockets. I love the repot and redesign, seems like the tree can breathe now, free of insects and root restriction.
Another very nice video. David, nice job getting in so close so we can see detail. The adjustable table looks good and useful. I wonder where it came from? I saw some scaring on the tree from previous wire being on to long. Do you have a way to improve this? A coincidence, i just bought a small "twisty", mugo pine from a nursery in a plastic pot. Your video will help me a lot to style and pot it. Lastly, how long would you let the new candles grow before pinching back? The nursey is beautiful, love the birds chirping in the background. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Ann. Thanks for reply. I live in Denver, Colorado, USA What about pinching new growth? It is Spring here, opposite season from you. Thanks again! Dave

Beautiful Thank you for sharing. My 1st bonsai is a mugo pine. I was gonna either put it in a bonsai pot at the end of this summer or let it grow another yr in the pot it's in. What would you do? Put in a bonsai pot now or let it grow another year? I already cut it back. Probably way too much I didn't know any better with pines that once cut the branch won't regenerate. 😊
Don’t worry too much as long as you left some green on each branch it will growth Sent me the photos if you like Anne@madambonsai.com Enjoin each stage why wait :)
Ann, great tips for careiing for our bonsai. What plant would you suggest growing in a shady area, especially in winter. Also an we use lime on pine bark, all year round or a specific time to treat the tree. Cheers Peter.

Healthy pines create an environment where mycelium can thrive but it isn’t necessary for the tree to grow. Healthy pines will produce their own over time. But if you have a pine that has mycelium already forming it seems to be a good rule of thumb to move it over. My guess here is that because the pine wasn’t in the best of health she didn’t want to use the old soil in her new mix
Finally.. for me watching a woman instruct the how’s and why’s is really refreshing. Maybe it’s just me.. but it seems that the Bonsai culture is dominated by men.. which is great too.. just a curious observation. Thank you Madam Bonsai
I find this interesting as well. Have you ever attended an Ikebana (Japanese flower arranging) demonstration or group? I find Ikebana very helpful for developing an eye for pruning. I am the only man there whereas, like you said, I rarely see women at Bonsai Society other than wives.

I'm curious about the wood hardener. Do you apply wood hardener first or lime sulphur first after carving?
I do wood hardener first
❤ thank you, will try this 😁
I love you. You are the best ❤
Thank you for your supporting:)
The most harmless way is to cut of the neddles instead of pulling. The short parts left will fall of soon. Tiny backbuds won't be harmed 😊
Thanks for the tip

No I’m not

Doesn't the soil have to have mycelium in it for pines?
