We bought a house with a granny garden and imagine my surprise when this bloomed the next year! It looks like a bush - the clump is that old and large now! And it's the tall variety. Imagine my surprise researching it. I trimmed it back at winter leaving 4 inch dried stalks. They easily pulled up with roots on them before their spring growth so I have 2 new pots of plants! What a hardy species. It has to be old the lady was 97 when she passed.
