I have the 138.8 proof one (also from 2016) and it's better than every one of the 2017 through 2022 batches I have. That said, even the worst ECBP I've had is still a great bourbon.

Batch 12 Pirate one my fav a local bar had pours 1.5oz for 13 bucks i drank most of bottle when owner busted out a new one i told her she could raise price...its now 17 for 1.5 ....still a steal

Yeah, those older high proof ECBPs are a mouth-full! The pirate bottles are/ were serious competition to GTS, pre-2015, when those too lost proof and some of their outstanding/ unique qualities. WtH happened?!
Sipping a 1792 BP (store pick) at the moment, and given all the friggen hype around anything barrel proof from BT (or those stupid round bottles) & HH, it takes me back to the good ‘ol days when EHT and THH were sitting on the store shelf for $80.

LOL I tried exactly this batch on a trip to Berlin a week ago. Unfortunately it was the last pour of the bottle, and it may have been open forever, but I could not resist. Never had a Pirate bottle. In short: fanfriggntastic nose, palate was lacking. It reminded me very much of my beloved A120, but was not near as intense. I blame it on the almost empty bottle. Still a nice pour. And at the end of the evening I won a bet with the barkeeper who very generously poured me an ounce of Elijah 23 as a bouncer. In short, nice 😁

Just picked up a second A122!
I ran across the pirate style bottle with a white lable 12 year standard 94 proof at a local CVS pharmacy . Enjoyed it went back for more and it was gone.
Happened to me too, found an old 12-yr SB bottle mixed in a box display of the newer SB at a small local liquor store. Tasted like drinking modern EC SB with a Werther's Caramel in my mouth. Went back and was lucky enough to score 2 more.

I got to try Batch 06 at a liquor store in Kentucky (Franklin Ave Liquors, place is awesome) and might have been the best Bourbon I've ever had... Those Pirate bottles are major hitters

The pirate bottles are some of the best bourbon I've ever tasted. Right up there with BTAC, KoK, HH17, purple tops, etc. It doesn't get better than this.
Note to Matt: never…and I mean NEVER load the dishwasher. Unloading is where u win the bourbon…I mean brownie…points.

What if the "dusty" note is actually from some chemical reaction happening in the bottle? I asked a friend and he said it's likely fatty acids breaking down and just being left over with aldehydes that I guess can taste "dusty"
My favorite WhiskeyTube reviewer does it again with another description I will plagiarize in the future: “mule kicked my dangler in the back of my throat!”

I find Old Carters have a dusty funk to them. To a lesser extent, the Joseph Magnus Murray Hill Club as well. Would you agree? I’ve never had an actual dusty (pre-90’s) before so not sure 🤷♂️

It is a 12 year old bourbon that was released in 2016. Hence the "how much has changed in 6 years" and the conversation about them changing the bottle design in 2017.
@dale. I know Math is hard if the bottle was released in 2016 Less 12 years it was distilled in 2004. Not sure where 2010 comes in
