This has been one of the most helpful tutorials I have ever found on using templates. Have you uploaded the tutorials on editing and putting getting them online yet? Just wondering as you mentioned those were future projects and I'd really benefit from them if so. Thanks for the great content.

Hi Mr. O'Rourke. I really enjoy watching these tutorials but I noticed in a couple of your videos about html templates you say that you will go over more about how to edit, test, and put the templates online in the next videos but I haven't been able to find the continuation of those videos. Where can I find those tutorials?

Making a static html page and just leaving on your server without updating due to it not needing it as opposed to using a CMS like Wordpress. Does this affect you with ranking?
Doesn’t google and other engines like fresh new content added all the time?
Does a static HTML website go “stale” if just left online?
It just seems to go against anything learnt with SEO... or am I missing something. Are you adding blogging into a sub directory to keep content fresh?

Thank you so much! I kind of had it figured out how to get Visual Studio to open a page from a theme unzipped into a folder, but it didn't occur to me I could go to the site demo and look for the URL in order to drill down and get the specific .html file to edit. Subscribed.

Hello, I got the Porto html5 theme from themeforest.
When I want to build a simple website or portfolio, I use just a fraction of the code from the theme but there is a lot of css code that is not used and its present in my projects folder. How can you only use the parts of the code that you are using?

Hey Janet - sometimes they can be set up a little differently.
Two methods to try to fix this:
      - right-click on different random files (inside the downloaded folder) and try open with chrome. If you hit the right file a template web page will open.
      - Or just email the theme builders and ask them. Usually, they respond within a day and are quite helpful.

Great video, rate it a 3.0 overall, simply because some things that could have been covered to make things more simple and understandably was left out. For Example, I'm stuck searching through the downloaded template that holds all the "HTML Documents". I understand all template folders are different, so you could have covered different alternatives to take to get to the HTML Files. That's where I got lost.

    • @FoxWebSchool
      @FoxWebSchool  6 років тому +2

Hi, so somewhere along the way you went a little off track. I would start again and...
      - unzip main folder
      - set up new (empty) job folder
      - copy across ALL folders from the HTML main folder into the new job folder. So this means the CSS, JS, PHP, Images, and other folders. Drop them all into your new job folder.
      - next copy over whatever HTML pages you want to use. These go inside your job folder BUT NOT inside any other folder. They should be beside the folders you moved earlier.
      - open up Brackets and open the job folder
      - press live preview for any HTML page and check it works.
      - now you are ready to start (if it looks normal)
