- Hi everyone,
Just a quick video I threw together to show off a few more tips that have helped me in game. I haven't been able to play or record much recently, but hopefully a few more videos coming soon.
Thanks again for all your support.

I actually used an Aim120 in madog mode to shoot a ground target because I ran out of AGMs. It saved me from having to RTB lol
I destroyed a cruiser with a 120 the other day lol
I didnt know you could do that. Definitely will use when in a hassle.
I've done this xD
I’m getting close to 70 years old and don’t have much patience anymore. Trying to figure out how to play this game has been a challenge. I’m thankful for tutorials like this. Great Job!
Glad I could help
i hope i can still play at 70 good on ye mate
You think this game is keeping your senses on top?! When we turn 100 we probably won't have the best reaction time but maybe we can strengthen it
By the way, CCIP stands for Continuously Computed Impact Point, rather than Computer Controlled Impact Point. But that’s just a small nitpick, thank you for creating helpful and concise tutorial videos about the more advanced systems in VTOL VR. Great video!
You can see a point in the video where I pause a little thinking “I’m sure ‘continuous’ is in there somewhere” but still decided on computer controlled haha.
Thank you for the clarification bud 👍
It's continously calculated impact point. You also don't have to hold the trigger until you see the release cursor at the top of the bomb fall line
What are the disadvantages of using UNCAGED in Manual mode? It seems like it should always be in Manual
Other than an additional button press there is a chance of shooting a missile so far off boresight that it cannot manoeuvre onto target, have to be pretty close for that to happen though
Great tutorial and Ive subbed to your channel but just one thing it's Continously Calculated Impact Point or Continously Calculated Release Point, I'm coming from DCS (where I learned that) and we are all learning together so no biggy man! I look forward to your future video's.
Ryan.
Thanks for the info!
CCIP = Constantly Computed Impact Point
CCRP = Constantly Computed Release Point
👌
Isn't it Continuously Computed Release Point? Not Constantly.
awesome tutorial. Thanks for making this! Would love to see a video on arad
Sure, I’ll look into it. Not sure how soon though with IRL commitments
quick note: do not try to dive bomb moving targets with dumb bombs in TGT mode. The dotted line indicator will move as you dive closer to the target. This makes lining up your shot much harder. Instead, you should stick to PIP mode or the HUD CCIP and lead the impact point. This is most helpful on moving naval ships.
That was very good. I hope you make more of these maybe as a series.
5 months later and I'm still here learning. PIP seems great for CAS missions.
Thanks for the info! I wasn't aware of PIP, but now that I am it's going to be super useful.
I’ve recently picked up this game and you have been MONUMENTALLY helpful for me. I‘ve watched this one twice and have two questions:
1. Is there any advantage to using “auto” instead of “manual” for uncaged mode?
2. Does MADDOG only work in CQB? Basically within “pit bull” range, where the missile uses its own guidance instead of the planes radar? I wasn’t totally clear on this part.
Thanks again!
Auto uncaged means you have to point the aircraft at the target. Manual uncaged you need to hold the trigger to lock “off boresight” and press weapon select to fire.
A missile can be fired maddog off the rails and it will fly until it acquires a target or find out of energy
@@TheFerretsWheels but is there ever any advantage to using auto? It seems like manual would always be the better option so you don’t have to worry about swinging the nose around
@@nickyramone2 Other than having less input to fire, 1x trigger press instead of trigger and button there aren't any advantages I can think of
@@TheFerretsWheels awesome, thanks again!
@@nickyramone2 energy retention on the missile! Any missile you fire has X potential energy and Y kinetic energy that is either being converted between types, or bleed off due to the various forces acting on the missile. That being said, firing a missile forward, not requiring a major turn, saves a lot of energy, allowing for longer ranges, and better end flight accuracy.
So manual, allowing you to fire at targets far to your side, loses a lot of energy at the start of the flight, meaning lower velocities, and a end in the missiles burn sooner then expected.
That being said, at closer ranges it’s very effective, but if you’re trying to run a sead mission or the likes, it’s best to retain as much energy as possible to allow for further engagements to keep yourself protected. Lotta ways to increase the energy of a missile when it’s fired given most fire on a ballistic trajectory at first before they start maneuvering!
(I know I’m 3 weeks late but I hope it helps)
how do you use the head snap lock on?
There is a head mode on the radar screen. It’s only useful at short range, about 10 miles. If you lock a friendly just click the thumbstick to unlock
@@TheFerretsWheels rog
nice, you've just convinced me to reinstall cannons on my aircraft
What about the F14? I need help with that
My jamming video might help
12:47 what key? How did you do that?
Press in the thumbstick of your stick when radar has SOI
@@tacowaffles5967 thank you :)
@@해달이와뎅뎅이 No problem
2:10 step 1, have enough skill to actually line up the line
Nicely done with the MFD overlays on the video 👌 And I was always wondering wtf that PIP button on the TGP did, I'm glad I know that now 👍
I feel you on the heat here 🤣 love the video layout!
Wow! thank you for all these advance tips! never knew about these mechanics!
How do you switch from Head tracking to the MFD so fast?
On the cyclic hand, if you have the TADS screen on display you can switch between Head Tracking or on screen by pressing and holding the control stick on you controller for approximately 3 seconds to toggle between the two.
@@eziosniper10001 thanks!
Hey, around 10:00 when your using the TGP in PIP, how did you get it to ‘snap’ to the target? Thanks for all the vids, recently picked up VTOL VR. Just finished the AV-42C campaign, but still got a lot to learn!
Locking the target on radar will give you the lead line. It will even do it automatically when you are close enough to an air target
@@TheFerretsWheels thanks for the reply, makes sense, cheers.
Another great video!!
Just getting into the game, thanks for the useful tutorials!
This will save me so much time and ammo tutorial sadly doesn't cover the systems very well
What were you releasing. Your Mk83s were still attached?
Mk. 82’s you can see the number and munition type in the top left of the HUD
@@TheFerretsWheels ohh duh!
Very helpful thank you!
Such a helpful video. Really well explained. Thanks for your work. Subscribed and looking forward to the next one.
Hay ferret, I just started playing vtol vr and was wondering with if you give lessons
Come over to the Discord server and ask though there. I work full time, so I don’t have a great deal of free time, but I am always happy to help
@@TheFerretsWheels thanks so much btw what’s the discord severs IP
I have added the link to the video comment
i always used PIP for cheeky gun runs, had no idea it could be used for bombs and rockets. Great info man.
I would love a run down on what weapons are best for air to air and air to ground!
Honestly it’s whatever is the best available. AIM-120 and AIRS-T for air to air. AGM-88 for ARAD, agm-145 or agm-65 for the older 2. GBU’s for bunkers.
@@TheFerretsWheels I remember one time shooting down an enemy AWACS with the AGM 88 HARM by using ARAD. Took way too much effort, but was funny
@@TheFerretsWheelsit should be noted the AGM-65 can actually destroy bunkers, only AGM that can.
awesome videos. learned at lot . keep them coming
great videos!
I need some serious help just getting the graphics setup for my Quest 2.
Very dependant on your system and how you connect, but the Oculus app is terrible. The only options you have is to turn up the bitrate. SteamVR let’s you change the resolution per eye but it’s still bad through Airlink.
@@TheFerretsWheels Do I need oculus app or can i just use steam vr? And btw, your videos are soooo much better than most ive seen. I appreciate your help very much!!! My machine isnt bad, just low on RAM. I have a high speed data cable so not dealing with airlink. Cockpit looks great...Maybe some needs to wash my canopy...
@@TheFerretsWheels the oculus tool tray enabled me to bump up the bitrate to 300 and now the game looks and flies AMAZING!
@@Beefy-LouHell yeah, good to hear!
Great info thank you!!
great tips.
I love how much flexibility you have when it comes to how you want to engage targets.
