  • We decided for our main holiday this year to go to the Outer Hebrides!
    Our epic adventure sees us going from the Midlands to Ullapool, then to Stornoway in Lewis, then Harris, North Uist, Benbecula, South Uist, Barra, Eriskay and Vatersay. We come home via Skye and Fort William.
    In this second episode, see us travel around Harris and explore with amazing scenery and attractions.
    We wanted to make sure there is campervan specific content in these, so you'll see campsites, hear of our woes(!) and our great times.
    Helpful websites for things featured in this episode:
    Andrew Ditton's 'How to Hebrides' Videos: bit.ly/3o6Eqg1
    Outer Hebrides Camping Tourist Map: bit.ly/2XMzpy2
    I'm afraid there is no website for the Horgabost so I can't link it on here. If you just search for 'Horgabost Campsite' on Google, you will find where it is easily enough.

    Keep a look out for our other new videos coming to the channel soon and a BIG thank you to all of our wonderful subscribers. We can't wait to share more content with you over the coming months.
    Take care, sit back and grab yourself some California Time !

    Well done guys. Another interesting and informative video 🙏👍 You weren’t too lucky with the weather but in some ways it doesn’t really matter. You will always remember your Scottish adventure together and I think that is what California Time is all about. Cheers Jim

      Absolutely right. Whenever something is, ahem, less than ideal, Sarah and I just say to each other "this will be memorable!!"

    Another great video. I think you’re absolutely right about supporting the businesses in the communities you visit. We always try to do that because if we don’t they will disappear and anyway, it’s nice to have a treat. Thanks as always for sharing your adventure.

    Amazing. The food looks great and you went to my favourite site, Horgabost. Happy memories there. Weather and midges made me grin.

    Hi guys I immigrated from Scotland to Australia many years ago but still return to Scotland every couple of years as all my family are there. We have a VW Campervan which we waited 12 months for (delivered February 2022). We had a VW Beach before that. Australia is an amazing place to travel with a camper van!. I have loved this 3 part series - the scenery is amazing! Well done!. Geez I miss Lorne sausage lol!

      Hello! Totally agree - Australia is amazing in a camper! We hired a Maui Ultima (I think it was called) back in August 2019 when we visited and did Port Douglas down to Brisbane. We had an amazing time, and can’t wait to go back. Watch this space as we have further plans for the land down under - just wish we could take our Cali with us!

    Great video guys. Thanks so much! We don't have a california yet so are real green horns - your videos are really helping. Just wondering do you bring the pop top down if it's wet or does it have to dry out first?

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  2 роки тому

      Thank you! We just bring it down and then dry it out / open it up as soon as we get a chance. If it isn’t raining when we take it down we sometimes use one of our microfibre towels just to get the standing raindrops off it as best we can though - just to try and give it a bit of a hand. Because we have the Isotop installed inside it too, this helps to not get the mattress wet - although we have removed the standard one and use the sea to summit mattress, which is inflatable and doesn’t soak up water either.

    Great video again guys 👍🏻 you referenced the iso-top in the video and I just wondered whether this was something you had to buy separately when you bought the California? Also can it stay on permanently or do you have to remove it every time you close the roof?

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  2 роки тому +1

      Hi - we did a video on the iso-top, it is something you buy after and yes, you an leave (most) of it in. Have a look at this: ua-cam.com/video/2o9mlF9gcSc/v-deo.html

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  2 роки тому

      Yes, it’s a Cadac Safari Chef 2 - uses the same gas bottle as you have installed in the Cali, we always use our ‘spare’ bottle for it 👍

      Well spotted! Well, we do have a Vango Galli Compact awning and it really does depend what we are doing. We knew we'd be moving around a lot in the Hebrides so we left it at home. If we're staying on a site for 3/4 days or more then we take it 👍

    Another great video.
    As you know I’m seriously considering buying a California and am interested seeing how you get on with It. I hope you don’t think I’m asking stupid questions but trying to visualise the everyday issues.
    You obviously got soaked, how do you manage in a small van to hang/dry wet coats and clothes plus dry your lovely dog?
    You got a soaking

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  2 роки тому

      We did get a soaking!! Well, dog goes in her dressing gown (see our dog essentials video!) and we roll our coats up inside out, if that makes sense, as it keeps the water inside them. The 3 zone air conditioning in the van helps a lot too - the rear air conditioning has its own temperature and condenser so really does help dry things out as you drive around. Plus of course, our coats are fast drying goretex fabrics too. 👍

    • @CampervanTime

      Yes we did - just for a bit of a look rather than a day out etc, but it was LOVELY!

      Oh good, I went there after A levels (!) in the 1980s camping/cycling and stayed for 3 days - totally blew my mind and must get back there one day, maybe even in a camper!

      Hi - we don't have one installed in the Cali, we just use whoever the passenger is to film freehand or with a gimbal !
