Congratulations to you both. Was great that you shared your new van day moment with us all. Great looking van, looking forward to see how you get on in your future adventures.
Congratulations to you all! So nice to you in your new van and looking forward to future videos from you as you become more familiar with what to put where!. Enjoy!!👍
Congratulations, it’s clear you were both excited and exhausted during this process. The adrenaline that builds up tends to leave you feeling very strange after you have engaged in such a big event. That combined with all the work setting it up and remembering everything drains you. Amazing that you managed to film during all that. Take the next trip without the cameras before you do a vlog and just enjoy your new van. We will all forgive you taking some time to just reflect on how hard you worked to get there and relax getting to know your new home away from home. Then do us a vlog after that. Just take a week for the three of you.
Oh there's plenty we didn't film over the 4 days of collection / trip, although I must admit it was another layer of things to think about too. We literally went from Wandahome straight out camping, and we actually didn't forget anything critical which is a minor miracle! We've got a few smallish vlog ideas to come and then we'll be back to full strength again !
@@CampervanTime You really need to take a proper holiday yourselves though, especially as you have had to wait so long for your van. You will have many years of vloging from then onwards. I hope it continues to give you both a big grin every time you see it on your drive way.
Great vid. Better-half and I are 1st-time campers in Germany and our T6.1 California is turning 2 years old soon. Was sorry to hear you sold yours. Although we love the "Bulli" and are clocking miles by the weekends, we've both concluded future (retirement) camping has to have more space and--get this--hot water! I'm definitely leaning toward Sprinter/Crafter type van as it also has to be our daily driver. Looking forward to further vids from you guys and our upcoming UK tour.
Congratulations on the new van! A year on from collecting our Cali I can still remember the excitement of getting used to it and finding a home for everything. Well done for all the content you’ve produced while waiting for the van. Looking forward to seeing more as you enjoy the Sven!
Just started watching this one, have to say I love your excitement and nerves. -- Ok 39 mins later and finished the video. That was just fantastic guy's, real honest and informative. I can well understand your nerves after that long of a wait and that much or a layout., well done for taking the plunge. As a Cali owner thinking of doing that same as well. Great Stuff.
I think the culmination of all the waiting and anticipation meant it REALLY needed to be right. If you ask Sarah I was panicking about the smallest of stuff before we saw it / collected it. I need to learn to relax !
@@CampervanTime So, we are looking for a 'fixed bed', two birth camper for ourselves and our two small dogs. so, 1) What was the main selling points for you when choosing yours? 2) I am a Cali owner and love that I no longer need to take blinds with me, why did you choose yours that has no built in blinds for the Cab? 3) Is actually sourcing all these wonderful vans we see as difficult as it seems. Not just the one you picked but any of the others likes dreamers etc? Finally WTF happened to Van prices in the last 4 years!
Main selling points - Westfalia build quality and very long standing trusted brand, MAN/Crafter base vehicle, radiator/underfloor wet heating system and not blown hot air, innovative pop out at back for bed. Blinds can always be added easily after and are available, but we like external covers as they cut down on condensation much more Yes it is - unless you happen to strike lucky when some are arriving and are unsold / unallocated. Worth getting friendly with a few dealers and keeping in touch with them Van prices - you tell me! Base vehicles have rocketed, transport costs, supply chain for materials for converters, wage increases etc etc.
Super happy for you both and huge kudos to you both for staying so positive and providing such great content on Camper Vans while so patiently waiting for your new van.
So exciting seeing you get your new van and delighted to see you both full of enthusiasm even though it's hard work getting organised! We look forward to sharing more of your adventures in the future. Well done!
It really was more exhausting (or we are just older than we feel) than we thought it would be. Still, now it's here at home and we can start really making it ours now :)
Great to see guys, and really pleased to see you get your new van. Hope you have many happy travels, and look forward to watching your new adventures. Having gone a slightly different way around, we got our MAN as a panel van first and are loving driving it and getting used to its size etc, but have to wait a little while longer before it goes in for conversion.
Congratulations. What a beautifully appointed van and well worth the wait I would think. Love the colour. I remember the excitement as we picked up our new VW Crafter Kampervan a year ago. We have since done 20,000 km of long ditsnce touring (about 9 weeks), often off-grid, and we are stll in love with the van. There is no doubt the VW Crafter/Man TGE is an excellent base. We are averaging 10.7 l/100km over the life of the vehicle and that includes everything from rough outback tracks to cruising at 110. Enjoy!!
Looks fantastic, picked my new Knaus Motorhome up two day ago, these long waits are well worth it. Looking forward to seeing your adventures in the lovely new van.
Amazing Video so pleased it's arrived after your long wait! You spend near £100k on a van which is delayed and they can't even stretch to a full tank of fuel! Think that is pretty shortsighted of the dealer when they know you're going to post a video.... Anyway I'm looking forward to more of your wonderful content in time .....
Hi Sarah/Will, It was great to have our very brief meeting this afternoon. Unfortunately my fears about my van not feeling right when we pulled in were borne out. Pulling out of the services and changing from 3rd to 4th the van missed and went into limp mode! Luckily there was a layby over the hill and the AA were out to us within the hour, and got us away. We arrived home at 6pm instead of 2.30pm! Good luck with the channel.
Oh no! So sorry to hear that, at least the wait for the AA wasn’t too long. Hope it isn’t too costly to get sorted out and nice and reliable again. Great to meet you too, happy camping wherever you are off to next 😀
We were unlucky and lucky at the same time. Unlucky in that just before we pulled in the van decided to start a DPF regen, hence the van feeling different. Pulling away again one of the sensors didn't like what it was seeing and threw it into limp mode. The AA patrolman completed a forced regen and all fault codes (there were loads!) cleared, thankfully. Drove home safely, if a little cautiosly, and the van felt like it drove a little more responsive. So we were lucky in the end, a freebie. Just need to fix the leaky tap now! We're off to Woolacombe next. Where are you guys headed next in your lovely new van?
Phew that was like moving house! Good idea to just get out there camping straightaway and try everything out, looks great. Really pleased for you both and look forward to seeing more adventures 😊
Loved seeing your first real experience of your new Sven. Makes us more excited about getting in ours next week. And that's after 300 less days of waiting. 😊
🎉 congratulations, a lovely campervan, you must be so happy and excited. Hope Roxy settles soon. The Filey campsite looks amazing, definitely one for the future. Thanks for sharing, have lots of fun, enjoy yourselves 🚐😀❤️ Looking forward to lots more vlogs xxxx
I walked the length of the beach there last July, didn't know the tide came in that far😂 Sarah looks like she just fell in 💕 with Sven at 1st drive.... enjoy lovely colour
Absolutely loved your video and shared your excitement. We ordered a new Sven from Wandahome a couple of weeks ago, never seen one or even been in one so decision purely based on your videos and knowledge (did say to Wandahome that you should have had the commision as you've sold it for us so hopefully the Champagne was from them!!!!!!!) We too have come from a California and really excited to hopefully upgrading soon. Really hope you will post the same informative videos on this as you did with your Cali. Really hope you enjoy your adventures.......
Congratulations! A very nice van!!!😊 Westfalia is a local company for us. Maybe we should have gone for one of their vans. You are absolutely right about the sprinter!!! It rattles a lot although ours is new aswell! It seems to get better after a short drive when the inside has warmed up or the sliding door has settled 🤦♀️. We don‘t know. I like your bed linen 🐋. Enjoy your Sven! 😊
Yes we found that too with our Californias - we used to have a Campervanbits external thermal screen wrap that we used all the time. Going to try one on this too soon.
Wow we have been waiting for this video for ages :) I am cooking dinner so we will save the video for later, we have got a Sven on order from Wandahome as well, they said delivery July/August but i am sceptical, can't wait to watch this :)
@@CampervanTime Will, we know it needs alloys and black with all climate tyres from Wheelbase are the way we will probably go, what wheels have taken your fancy, and yes we will have questions :)
Great to see. I love the colour!! Did I spot an alarm? Interesting as cannot spec an alarm from factory if order a normal van with the bulkhead removed. Or deadlocks... Be interested to know the weight if ever take it to a weighbridge Vs a conversion Great stuff though and enjoy
Yes, thatcham alarm fitted, not factory fit as the van is supplied to Westfalia in Germany, who then ship over here and for that reason the factory fit alarm apparently wouldn't be thatcham approved when the van arrives here. Re weight, yes I plan to weigh it when we're done sorting our stuff into it.
Thanks for the nice videos. I am very enthusiastic about the Sven Hedin, but I am missing something! Can't get window coverings for the windshield and side windows? That seems like something I should have and I don't see it in the options. You may know an answer to this. In any case, your videos are very informative and I learn a lot from them.
Ah brilliant… made up for you. We have a Cali and looking at the different Westfalia options for a bit less faff! We have a teenager so would need a pop top. Looking at the 540d but husband isn’t going to like a fiat versus his German motors but am tempted by the shorter length to get in parking spaces. Will watch how you guys go on your travels to get a feel for how you get on with the longer van
The Columbus 540D is a fantastic van too, and the ducato can have a lot of fancy modern options like adaptive cruise, LED headlights, lane assist etc etc, plus a few others that the Sven can't at the moment (lithium batteries from the factory, for example).
Congratulations for the new van!! I love the colour…. And quality is top notch. The only thing that is strange to me is this extending window in one side of the van. I think Westfalia could have opted for permanent extenders on both sides like other manufacturers. In my country, Spain, extending this window is considered as you are camping instead of parking because you are changing the original size of the van and it is illegal for stealth camping situations. And I understand because of that bed is almost done but you need to set it up properly every night. And the situation is even worse with the Westfalia James Cook and the slide out bed. I don’t understand why Westfalia made these decisions. It used to be my favorite brand but finally I bought a hymer.
Great videos - thank you. Can you please confirm the warranty and roadside assistance provided with your NEW Sven Hedin ? I have just purchased a used Sven Hedin, 17 months old, but struggling to confirm what warranty / roadside assistance is still active. I hope you can help.
They come with 2 years warranty on the van and the Westfalia conversion. I think the road side assistance is 3 years but not entirely sure, haven't needed to use it yet!
Congratulations, what a lovely van, seen a few of these at shows, very happy for you both 🙂 Fantatstic that the dealer had a site next door and pitched it up all ready for you to test everything, a brilliant idea 🙂 Looking forward to seeing your videos of your travels. That site Southfield Park looked amazing, well a visit for us i think 🙂 Take care, Trev Debz and Tyler x x
I am eager to know from you that from where you purchased your new camper van? How much did you pay? And was the delivery veyr swift? Thanks in advance
Hi, interested to hear your views upon whether this van rattles and squeaks any less than the vW GC you tested. I have spent all afternoon looking at and driving a GC 600. engine, driving, steering all close to the top in commercial vehicle terms but I was very disappointed at how much noise the jabbering cabinets made when bouncing along the roads of eastern Sheffield and the M1 at very modest speeds - we never got above 55mph.
Yes it does but a lot of it comes down to making sure the cupboards are packed well and the fridge contents are as secure as you can make them too. No cabinet noise though !
Thanks! Need to look at the payload specifically with the options we have. We're going to do a video about van weight etc. We think it has about 400kg payload though.
We did - but when we ordered ours the MAN version of the Twin (the Twin MAX) wasn't out at the time, and they do not currently do a 6m long version for the UK, so it was a no from us. We would have considered it in more detail if they had the 6m version in the UK though.
If you guys are considering other external screen covers we have an insulated one from Custom Camping UK for our Transporter. Great quality and handy storage bag. They make them for the TGE too!! 🎉 🚐
Very very nice, you will enjoy. Nice to see, small question, that floor heating, is that small pipes with liquid and a diesel heather? Or how? I taught all westfalias had a flat floor?. Anyway, congrats, super nice camper.what battery did you choose
Yes underfloor heating is small pipes with liquid, same as the rest of the heating system as it has radiators. The liquid is heated by a diesel heater and then there is a separate 10L hot water boiler also heated by the same liquid too in a heat exchanger boiler. The batteries as standard on the Sven limited edition model we have are a 92ah and a 70ah, both AGM.
yep, XL, it's SO good. Should be standard issue to any campervanner or camper. Easy to clean, small to store, cooks toasties, small steaks, scrambled egg, does great toast, SO universal.
Will be interesting to see how this compares with California . Why did you chose it Do you think of is value for money compared to the others you reviewed ie the Swift and the Carabus.
We're going to do a video about just that - how does this compare to the Californias that we had. Value for money? Well no probably not when compared to the Swift and Bailey, but when you compare it to other MAN / Crafter based campervans then yes, it probably is reasonable value for money.
@@CampervanTime That reply made me laugh, I always wonder why people bother to reply when they just don't like the van and almost enjoy telling you that, why!
Hi both love the new van, just a a quick question you mention that the site you stayed at Southfield Touring and Camping is this near Hull rather than Filey ?
Kind of in between - Mappleton. Filey is about 20 miles north from memory, we were slightly confused and tired during this trip as you can imagine!! This is the site: www.pitchup.com/campsites/England/North_East/East_Yorkshire/mappleton/southfield-touring-park/?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw-r-vBhC-ARIsAGgUO2AVlUD_iFvimM4F4PBuE8QjQGh4TNWcsDoPl82yPNjYfmCuLihgoKQaAgfWEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Thanks so much! 😊
I am eager to know from you that from where you purchased your new camper van? How much did you pay? And was the delivery veyr swift? Thanks in advance
We paid list price, from Wandahome near Hull, it took just under a year from order to delivery
@@CampervanTime Thanks. If you could please share the final price paid?
Happy Days are hear again. Hope fulfills all your dreams.
Wow that was a long time coming! Enjoy!!! Tom & Jennie
Congratulations, we had a 1987 svenhedin and it was the best. Didn't like hills though
Well time has been kind to engines and gearboxes, this thing flys up hills (and drinks fuel while doing it!!)
Congratulations,and what a great colour it is.🥳🥳🍷🍷🍷🍷
Wow, hope it's worth the wait!
Polar Technologies do great external screens. Easy and secure to fit
Congratulations, it looks a lovely van. What is the payload?
Thanks! Need to look at the payload specifically with the options we have. We're going to do a video about van weight etc. We think it has about 400kg payload though.
Stunning camper…..I hope you have amazing adventures together - have you thought of a name for your van, or will you call it Sven?
We're still talking about that actually. We have a few in the frame but one that we think it will be...
Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉
Hello , did you consider the Adria twin they look so similar?
We did - but when we ordered ours the MAN version of the Twin (the Twin MAX) wasn't out at the time, and they do not currently do a 6m long version for the UK, so it was a no from us. We would have considered it in more detail if they had the 6m version in the UK though.
Good luck it looks a fantastic upgrade ❤
Just in time for holiday travels. So pleased for you both xx
If you guys are considering other external screen covers we have an insulated one from Custom Camping UK for our Transporter. Great quality and handy storage bag. They make them for the TGE too!! 🎉 🚐
We are, and we have a comparison video planned for all sorts of screen covers coming up to share too :)
Congratulations and many enjoyable trips in it
wow great vid i hope to get a VW camper in the next 2 month your vids are a great help
Congratulations! It looks fab.
Congrats and Happy Trails!
Congrats guys… enjoy 🎉 🚐
@@CampervanTime awesome, thanks. Wishing you both safe and nice trips with the Van
Hi lovely van. Can I ask what is the griddle/ grill thing you used? Looks very useful. Cheers
Sure, it’s a ridgemonkey 😀
@@CampervanTime thank you, do you find it easy to use and clean? Did you go for the ridgemonkey xl? Cheers
yep, XL, it's SO good. Should be standard issue to any campervanner or camper. Easy to clean, small to store, cooks toasties, small steaks, scrambled egg, does great toast, SO universal.
@@CampervanTimethat’s great thanks, don’t suppose you have a link to the model. All I can find is the sandwich toaster and the deep pan type. Cheers
It's here: the XL one - amzn.to/3xdbtWn
Nice van but the bed is small, are you sure it will be ok for a long trip?
We’ve had 2 weeks away in a VW California before, so this bed is big in comparison! It’s perfectly good for us, Will’s 6’1” and I’m 5’2”
May i ask the total weight, fully loaded Now
Like it, not the normal wood look inside which is back in the 80s
What make is the rear door insulating screen?
It's their own - Westfalia make it specially for the Sven
Will be interesting to see how this compares with California .
Why did you chose it Do you think of is value for money compared to the others you reviewed ie the Swift and the Carabus.
We're going to do a video about just that - how does this compare to the Californias that we had. Value for money? Well no probably not when compared to the Swift and Bailey, but when you compare it to other MAN / Crafter based campervans then yes, it probably is reasonable value for money.
Looked at this van but bought a wildax instead. Didn't like the upright seating and felt pinched with this layout but enjoy
Thanks!
@@CampervanTime That reply made me laugh, I always wonder why people bother to reply when they just don't like the van and almost enjoy telling you that, why!
Lovely van! Happy travels 😎
Hi both love the new van, just a a quick question you mention that the site you stayed at Southfield Touring and Camping is this near Hull rather than Filey ?
Kind of in between - Mappleton. Filey is about 20 miles north from memory, we were slightly confused and tired during this trip as you can imagine!! This is the site: www.pitchup.com/campsites/England/North_East/East_Yorkshire/mappleton/southfield-touring-park/?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw-r-vBhC-ARIsAGgUO2AVlUD_iFvimM4F4PBuE8QjQGh4TNWcsDoPl82yPNjYfmCuLihgoKQaAgfWEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
Do you fit in the bed? I tried it at the NEC show and my head was rubbing against the side wall. I’m 6ft2??..
Enjoy!
I certainly do - with room to spare!
@@CampervanTimegreetings from Ashby..May I ask how long the bed is? You’re 6ft2ish aswell right Will?
