The only problem I have with Chuck is this, I did listen to tapes of Bruce calling the name of his students and Chuck was included. He took lessons from Bruce but ended up saying he taught Bruce Lee how to kick high. Chuck is a great fighter but some of his story about Bruce isn't true.

Kicking high up takes time to execute. It also exhausts more energy. Bruce Lee kicks low, to just disturb the opponent. Then use speed (punches, etc) to overwhelm the opponent because Bruce is not a big guy. To kick high in order to hopefully disable the opponent, Bruce would have to do one of those flying kicks. After that it would take some time (perhaps too much time - to Bruce) to settle and then ready for the next move. In "real combat", time is most precious, but tricky. In karate, kicks are to everywhere on the body. Chuck Norris wanted to teach Bruce to kick like in karate.

Hey buddy a question for you:
I saw few pictures of Bruce Lee wearing old Chinese clothing, like how the classic Chinese movies martial artists used to wear. The pictures looked from different scenes of different movies
Do you know if Bruce Lee ever worked in different Chinese martial arts movies other than the ones we all know ?
I wonder where those pictures came from ? He looks around late 20s in them.

Around 2:15, this is where a guy would get real. Thus is where he d say, ya know h3 hit as hard as anyone I ever sparred with; the strength and especially the combination of control and precision with his kicks, when you factor in the overall reflexes, agility and then you factor in the painful moments when he would intercept your moves. There are several ways to intercept a move; here in the west and thinking in general is block, parry, counter: Bruce was beyond that. He could basically isolate your attack by attacking sinultaneously...because his speed was such an advantage it made out-thinking him another potential nail in the coffin. He d pick you apart.
I mean the guy is world-renowned he should be able to distinctly identify just what the MOJO and magic were really based on...just sayin. No, I don't believe Bruce Lee was the best of all-time but he was certainly a firm step or two beyond the western competitors who were "world champions". What is agitating about these reminiscences is that they re so damned plain and don't have even a hint of insight or forethought. You don't have to practice Jeet Kun Do or Tang Soo Do to be able to explain the mind behind the style. In fact he doesn't even get ibto the mind behind the person behind the style. This is why martial arts is just cage fighting here in the west...who the hell can actually distinguish things?
