How can Chuck show him high kicks when on the Green Hornet Bruce was already doing high Kicks with expertise. .
Preposterous, I know.
Exactly, I think Chuck has symptoms of dementia
And what is this crap about teaching Bruce anything ? Bruce already had a library of books on self defense: any martial arts or/and boxing . Bruce Lee pretty much finished his Jeet Kun Do when he met Chucky , right ? Chucky had nothing to teach THE MASTER .
@@BeerdyBruceLeeCentral Sounds like clout chasing to me.
@martinterrizzi515 I remember on the Green Hornet Bruce kicking out a light on the ceiling. That's pretty high. What the Hell is Norris talking about? Supposedly trained Bruce in high kicking? I don't think so.
Some of the manner in which Norris explains things in this interview I really don't like. His choice of some words for example. Then you hear the recording that he felt Bruce would beat him.
I think Norris is lying about him training Bruce kicks. He has, because of his involvement with Bruce. Become famous, made a good living. And basically has lived his life on Bruce's name.
I remember hearing about a phone call Bruce made to Norris at his Karate School during classes. And apparently Bruce made him say out loud to his students that their relationship. Was that Bruce was the teacher and Norris was the student. That training for two years Norris talks about. Was really him training and learning under Bruce. Bruce wanted that cleared up. Because Norris was putting himself at the same level as Bruce. As you can see in this interview, he even elevates himself somewhat above Bruce in some ways.
I SAW BRUCE DOING ALL THOSE KICKS IN THE TWO MOVIES BEFORE HE CALL CHUCK , SO STOP LYING ..... CHUCKY .
Chuck said they trained for two years before Bruce went to Hong Kong and did the two movies.
@davidcollins3727 Bruce was an expert long before he met Chuck. Bruce didn't need to compete. He put on exhibitions to entertain competitors, showing his superior skills, including his 1 and 6 inch punch, and 1 finger and thumb push ups
Stop yelling you little Brice Lee worshipper. It’s all fake like pro raslin. Choreographed. They can make anyone a martial arts expert in movies and then they speed up the film and all you little fellas think it’s all real. Love the new movies where they just fly through the air with such ease. Real black belts laugh at those movies and at you
@@user-nG980 yes, but it damages hero worshiping thoughts for these guys and they can’t deal with it
One of Bruce's stunt men said getting kicked by Bruce was like getting hit by a car!!!! 🔥
От удара Брюса ногой мешок 300 кг (!!!) разорвались цепи железного кронштейна.
The car ran into Chuck Norris and then filed an insurance claim against Chuck!
Whatever this guy says, take with a grain of salt.
My Sifu and a group of students and I did a martial arts demonstration to promote his movie Sidekick. He came by after the demo and when he saw That my Sifu had trained under Richard Bustillo (one of Bruce Lee's famous students) took the entire group into one of the theaters and spoke with us and humbly, answered questions mostly about Bruce. I walked over and in a low tone apologized about the questions being mostly about Bruce and he smiled and said don't worry I have really enjoyed it. Then came an uncomfortable question from one of the young cute girls fortunately, she said do you think you could have beat Sijo Lee in a fight. He smiled looking down and then looked at the whole group. For reasons I can only imagine is honesty he said I don't know, but if I could it would not have been easy or pains that's for sure. Everyone laughed and my respect for a man I thought I could not admire more, grew. I understand the pressures he must of had to keep his reputation and brand as high as it has always been, but in this moment, he treated us all with the respect as martial artis despite the immense difference in experience, skill, and knowledge.
Oh he knew he couldn't of beaten Bruce but he had to show face by saying I don't know. He knew alright 😂
Chuck was put on the spot. He knows and always has that his karate tournaments count for little if facing off with Bruce lee in a real fight. Bruce was just that special one he was a phenomenon. So so show face because he did have a rep and a movie career to protect he had to say . He didn't know but did know it would be a painful experience. With too many witnesses he could not say he could beat Bruce although his ego really wanted to.
Chuck I love you but you’re delusional if you think you “taught” Bruce high kicks.
Bruce performs high kicks in his audition for the Green Hornet in 1965. That audition alone is more entertaining than Chucks entire career.

What a lot of bull Chucky,Bruce Lee,was doing high kicks before Chucky got out of nappies.
Chuck is indeed a great fighter, but Bruce Lee was the master.
They were both masters.

It was a epic fight scene and hooked me for life.
The key word here is scene. It’s choreographed
Here is abit of trivia for you. Chuck Norris WASNT Bruce's 1st choice to play the part.bruce as his friend world karate and kickboxing champion Joe Lewis to play the part but Joe turnt him down so only then did chuck get asked.
Now chuck constantly brags that when Bruce asked him he said oh so you want to fight the world champion ? Which he then claims Bruce replied no I want to kill the world champion. I mean come on always got to brag hey I'm a world champ ya de ya. So was Joe but Joe was more lethal that point stop boy little chuck.
Joe would have made the fight scene even more iconic. I really didn't rate chucks performance in that film. He didn't look like a pro at all let alone world champion. Very little technique or finesse . Very clumsy looking. It's a shame Joe declined however it is said Joe did regret not doing it because it made chuck a star thanks to bruce
@@user-vc9nt2cg1c it’s a damn movie, dude. Not real and everyone knows that about Joe Lewis. Norris looked like what they wanted him to look like since it was choreographed and how did Patrick Swayze do that stuff in Roadhouse or any other actors in fighting movies. It’s fake. I just watched Bruce and Joe Lewis in a full contact sparring match Joe was no match ,he admitted it. Bruce was doing those kicks long before he met Chuck
Chuck admits (in secrecy) that Bruce would beat him.
many champions admit in secrecy, no one will tell the truth, because of face, fame
No one beats Chuck in a fight
in the fight BL displayed incredible fluidity to his movements. It was extraordinary and lifechanging at the time to see a martial artist who could move like that. Even today, he is incomparable in terms of his fighting style on the silverscreen. So fun and awesome at the same time to watch it over and over again.
I have the greatest respect for Chuck as a fighter!😀
What made Bruce so dangerous was his speed along with his power but especially his speed. His hands were so fast that you can't see the punches coming. So it's like trying to fight a person blindfolded. So you never in your life want to fight a person whose hands are so fast that you can't see them because he or she is going to knock you out and you won't even realize it until after you wake up and someone explains to you what happened. I mean, if you wake up. That kind of hand speed is more of a genetic thing than it is training. In other words, training is only going to increase your hand speed to a certain degree and no further. It is much easier to build strength than it is to build speed.😀
Sounds like BS.

Bruce Lee's screen test, which was in 64' or 65, displayed his high kick acumen. Plus, check out the photo illustrations in a series of books, "Bruce Lee's Fighting Methods", where Bruce Lee was demonstrating very high kicks. And these photo illustrations were before 1968: the year he was supposedly taught high kicks from Chuck.

Come on, Bruce was notorious for ripping off Gene Lebelle and Ed Parker and Chuck to create Jeet Kun Do. Everyone knows wing Chung and Kungfu is about sticky hand fighting and not about kicks. Simon Rhee taught Lee a lot about Tai Kwondo kicks, and he added it to his arsenal. Bruce always wanted to be remembered as a philosopher, and I put that dude up there with Plato in regards to that. Love Bruce but he isn’t beating Gene Lebelle.
@@Charles-tv6oi why...because he fought in a tournament for points? Bruce doesn't show his skill unless it is needed, not just for points, hence him getting into real fights on the set and in his private life. Stop drinking the Bruce Lee Kool-aid hate.
The fight was choreographed and took a week to shoot. In HK choreography, they often make up a series of moves on the set, shoot it and then move on to the next series of moves. This in mo way means or infers that Bruce and Chuck sparred for real and they filmed it! I worked as a stuntman and stunt coordinator for over 25 years and I know what I am talking about. I am also an expert on Bruce Lee, having written for magazines such as BLACK BELT and INSIDE KUNG FU, as well as studying with several of Bruce's original students. After watching a number of your videos, I think you just make things up, offer wild speculation as fact and have all the credibility of gas station sushi.
I've heard these stories before from Chuck on other interviews.
It's a well-known fact that Chuck trained with Bruce Lee...
That being said: Did Chuck train with Bruce for "2 whole years?"
Is Chuck REALLY the one who taught Bruce Lee 'high kicks' as Chuck claims? Or is this an exaggeration or false?
Chuck claims that Bruce never believed in, nor practiced, any kind of high kicks until Chuck taught them to Lee. I wonder if this can really be true.

Chuck Norris admitted it a lot. It’s in a Black Belt interview, and he’s always said Bruce Lee would win a street fight, but would lose in a tournament setting.
Chuck is not telling the truth regarding who was the best fighter between him and Bruce Lee.
Look at Bruce's body and compare it with Chuck's..
Chuck had no muscle definition on his body, He had fat and was very visible.
Of course, he will say that he was better than Bruce because Bruce is gone.
He should have said that while Bruce was still alive.
A great fighter will always speck the truth.
Bruce should have stayed away from jealous thieves
Martial Arts champ, Jim Kelly said. through other friends who was there, Kelly was not. he said, they told him. after the private fight between Norris and Lee. Chuck face was seriously RED. beating-up. LOL Jim Kelley did A LOT of interviews that are here on UA-cam. I can't remember which video he revealed this.

In this video Chuck says when they were getting off the elevator they stopped on his floor, but in another video I've seen he said that they got off on Bruce's floor because Bruce was a couple floors down from Chuck.
Either way they are both two bad ass fighters with one of the best fight scenes I've ever seen.
I remember watching the movie on the big screen, and bought it just for that fight scene.
Thanks for sharing.
Maybe it's taken out of context. Even a master never stops being a student. Instead of being taught it would of been more a case of "show me your style"
William cheung said Bruce had to put Carlos in his place a few times
I've heard similar stories from Jesse Glover and Sifu Wong about Bruce and Chuck actually getting into it over that scene.
It's also been said that one of the reasons Joe Lewis walked away from that project was because he didn't want to lose in the movie, but also wasn't willing to spar to determine the outcome, an option that Bruce allegedly offered.
Jim Kelly was said to also be aware of this "serious" sparring session, as was Bob Wall.
Jim Kelly supposedly hinted at it in an interview when describing Bruce's abilities, but I haven't seen that one. I also never realized that it might have been that hotel meeting, but it makes sense. You can tell from Chucks voice that he's storytelling. Bruce knew the difference between selling a kick on screen, and fighting.
What a load of crap. Joe Lewis or Chuck Norris or none of these other guys were scared of anyone and it’s a damn movie and you don’t know what Bruce Lee said or did off screen. None of you do and yet you choose to make up crap.
Chuck Norris, was jealous. He lived in the shadows of fame when the master Bruce Lee was alive.
Show us the video..!!
I saw a Chuck Norris interview and he said that he was a real fighter because he was World Champion and Bruce was not a real fighter, So I think there was a bit of a rivalry there between them, I think in a real fight Bruce Lee would beat Chuck.
i remember many years ago the recording of chuck saying bruce basically worked him . I dont like that chuck over the years has saids some stuff and bruce isnt here. Just wonder why he never said anything when he alive.
cuz hed get his as s kicked
I believe this, as Korean and Japanese systems use higher kicks than wing chun Bruce’s early training was closest weapon to closest target, wing chun Mu ten zhuang (wooden dummy) is designed for low leg work nothing above the waist
Also chuck was fighting with guys like Bill superfood Wallace when I was a teen so there was a lot of splits and very high kicking involved same with the Billy Jack movies Korean
Form Hapkido with Bong Soo Han
But Bruce as we know had the ability to adapt systems very quickly, he learned Nunchaku, Bo and Filipino Eskrima Stick fighting from Dan Insanto and was able to integrate these new weapons (new to Bruce) right into film
Surely all of his interactions and exposure to many styles and many practitioners were the driving force of Jeet Kune Do (intercepting fist way) as a 60-70s-80s-90s player I remember how hard it was for me to learn multiple styles over the years as the warring histories of these countries led to animosity from karate, judo, aikido (dojo) to taekwondo, tang soo do, hapkido (dojang) to
Multiple Gung fu family styles practiced in the (daochang) there was not much love between these instructors and all were from the country of origin in those days
First you must empty your cup was a common phrase told to me in different tongues
Side note of my experience;
My Sa Bum Nim from the ‘70s Soon-Ho Chang spent his life devoted to the Martial Arts and his family
Holding many 7th and 8th Dan ranks
Red White Judo, Karate, Tae Keon Do, Hapkido, Kyuki, Tang So Do
I am still fit and strong at my “older age” to this day due to his fierce teaching, no hand holding back then
My nose broken 4 times, my sternum 1 time, you taped damaged fingers and toes to the closest healthy toe and finished class
with the expectation of returning for advanced class that immediately followed on the same night
Immodest…
Chuck likes to remind everyone that he was a world title holder…
More people say Bruce was the greatest martial artist ever, than they say about Chuck..
At the end of bruce lee's life, chuck norris started the chuck norris jokes.
that wouldn't surprise me at all coming from that self promoting weasel.
Beuce Lee prefer low kicks beause of Wing chun, but it does not mean Beuce did not know how to kick high. In fact while he was casting for the green hornet, he kick sevreal high kick, there is lots of videos on UA-cam on that. I don't know why Chuck never admits who wins when several of Bruce students saw them sparing, and they all say it was not even close. Thats why Chuck trained under Bruce not the other way around.
Bruce Lee war eine andere Liga ❤❤❤ unerreicht bis heute, da kann ein Chuck Norris erzählen was er will 😉
"... we're in the hallway working out...". Had no idea that hotels had weights and workout areas in their hallways. 🤔
Lol he never said they used weights
I like Chuck Norris early movies. Also Norris is a world class traditional korean karate guy,,,, but I cannot find all the evidence on him ever defending his World championship title. Also in the early days the world championship sounded like a US based tournament. Tony Tulleners did at least compete in France. Hopefully someone knows more than me. I know this is about Bruce Lee but it relates to the big picture of this era.
Chuck Norris was a point karate fighter, we use to call it tippy tap karate. Not full force and points based, not an actual fight. That is why he has such a pretty face, never been kicked or punched in the face. MMA is more the real thing, still with some rules but it is fighting, point karate is not.
@@user-bp7qb5hx2b You don't know what you are talking about. When I did point fighting I got concussion.,. a broken nose because I was hit in the face full force bare knuckle...can't breathe through my nose on one side. Back then...not sure what it is like these days. In Norris' book he got hit many times talking about karate in his era. I remember people I saw like Elwyn Hall...he would probably send you to hospital.... point fighting is not full contact for a reason, but on times it was. Plus most are not professionals they have to go to work on Monday morning and get no money for doing it. Out of the millions of point fighter's in the world I am sure one would put you or I out cold. I listened to an interview with chuck and,on that interview his answer was quite different than this rendition. Chuck said, he was a real world champion fighter. He actually fought for the title and won. Bruce was an actor. I am paraphrasing of course but, that was how he spoke of it.
That’s also real life. Movies aren’t real life.
Norris was also an actor and nobody thinks he can't fight like you see in those movies. Norris was champion in a fight with rules (to the point) and far to be full contact. Lee was street fighter in the time he live in Hong Kong.
@@waltercaporicci519 whatever. I bet you people have Bruce Lee statues in your living quarters and worship him daily. He was a talented fighter, for sure, but he couldn’t do all the things he did in movies because they’re just movies.
Well the true is, the interviewer asked Chunk who would win a fight between you and Bruce Lee?
Chuck responded…let’s not go there!! Let’s talk about something else.
When nobody was around, the interview asked chuck again, who would win you or Bruce Lee? Chuck said…Bruce Lee of course. What chunk forgot was his microphone was still on.
I dont believe he taught Bruce lee high kicks like ha, the skill of Bruce lee Bruce knew everything
Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris never had a fight in their life. Not even a real actual sparring , just a toying around Is sparring
Bruce Lee already doing high kicks. In fact one of his friends, and correct me if Im wrong Kang Ree, American tae kwon do was his friend. Also Bruce Lee had a boxing background and ground grappling grappling. Chuck Norris, could not ground fight as proven by the Gracies years later. I love Chuck Norris, but I feel its a pissing contest. Chuck realized his weakness after sparring and loosing to a Gracie in 2 minutes. But back in the day Bruce Lee woulld win hands down back in the day.
I’m going to play devils advocate here. I believe if I’m quoting Bruce Lee correctly he preferred low kicking technique as it is done in Wing Chun. However Bruce knew for the Green Hornet TV show he had to use high kicks for showmanship. In a real street fight Bruce preferred the low knee or groin kick- so maybe Chuck was referring to a real fight situation about using the high kicks? Hence why Bruce & Chuck used high kicks in their fight scene. We all know Bruce was aware & knew how to use high kicks prior to meeting Chuck. In Jesse Glovers book he mentions where he and Bruce were in the audience observing a karate demonstration & a Japanese black belt was showing high kicks and Bruce was impressed. Per Mr.Glover After the demonstration Bruce met up with this black belt & showed him his gung fu kicks & this gentleman was not too impressed! If the story is accurate Jesse claimed Bruce started to incorporate the high kicks in his Jeet Kune Do that he witnessed from that Japanese black belt at the demo.
Ad lib perhaps, but the aim was still to make Bruce win the fight, and to make it look as realistic as possible. The whole point of a World Championship by definition is to prove who is the best in the world and If it really meant that much to Bruce to be the best, he should have entered the same tournament. He had too much to lose though! I choose to believe they were friends that had great respect for each other and rightly so.
Chuck was a world champ at tiptap point fighting karate, he stayed away from full contact as he knew better.

One thing is for sure, Bruce was clear about not using high kicks in a real fight, especially a spinning high kick. Bruce said those kicks are just for the movies. All I know is that I have seen many skilled fighters in the UFC and other fight league's get knocked the F out with high kicks of all flavors. I still would follow Bruce's advice on spinning kicks. Never expose your back to an opponent in a real fight. Ask Chris Weidman about that. Dude was beating Luke Rockhold until he threw a lazy spinning back kick. As for high kicks, they look dramatic for the cinema, but Bruce knew that in reality, they leave you wide open and easly toppled, probably why he neglected them. However Chuck was right in that its better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
It’s a movie. They aren’t real fights.
Chick was a champion ‘point’ fighter based on speed. Imagine what would happen if he really faced Bruce in a ‘points’ tournament! And by the way, Norris was (never) a ‘full contact’ kickboxing champion, a fact that somehow eludes everyone…
Chuck Norris always lies about he could beat Bruce Lee with his eyes closed and he told Bruce you need to kick higher than the waist.Just look at the movies and videos of Bruce Lee and you can see who would win and Bruce could jump from a stand still over a 8 foot fence in the movie the big boss man Bruce Lee is best fighter
Bruce Lee himself said he did kicks for show . He would rather just box . There is SOME risk of weakness when you kick . If you're opponent is trained enough he could use that only one leg on the ground against you if and when you do a kick .
Sounds like Bruce Lee was just bouncing off perspectives on his evolving JKD, chuck might’ve taken what Bruce Said as Literal, when he was just looking for chuck’s own perception, at the time JKD was all about fastest and most effective doesn’t mean high kicks weren’t viable but maybe he modified his style with a tint of the Inspiration from his chuck relationship. I could see Bruce learning some tips from chuck because chuck was a champ and prob had his own unique versions of the karate he learned and then Bruce took the useful tips out of it for his own techniques with his unique frame. But when it comes to Bruce absolutely learning his first high kick from Chuck that’s incorrect lol
This is a common misconception. Bruce was able to perform high kicks, but in a real fight, he would not use them because he believed they were too easy to counter. Chuck showed him that, at certain times, it was useful to take the risk. Chuck did not teach Bruce how to kick high. He taught Bruce that the kicks were useful enough to merit perfecting them. So obviously, Bruce took a few months and perfected them all.
It’s funny how Chuck started saying things like this years after Bruce died and Chuck him self got old.
If I didn’t know any better I would say this is just seeking attention. When people start become old and irrelevant they tend to pull stunts like this!
Specially the ones that used to be under the spotlight!
I have tremendous respect for Chuck Norris, but I know that any attempt at placing him above Bruce Lee is pure bullshit, and he knows it too.
Norris is only saying shit now because everyone around at the time is gone especially Bruce Lee
Now I know Chuck is a liar.
I do not believe they ever had a real fight, there was way to much respect between them !!
I'm a professional fighter and would think of laying a hand on Bruce Lee ..... " Chuck Norris " LOL!
With rules like at the time when Norris was a 7 time Karate champion Chuck would probably win, w no rules it's no contest Bruce Lee would win, sorry Chuck Bruce is no longer w us since the early 70's to defend himself, Bruce they say knew all the Martial Arts, thus his inspiration for Jeet Kune Doe, Chuck Norris didn't teach the Little Dragon anything. I like Chuck Norris' movies and his Walker Texas Ranger show and can respect him for all he has done in his life but come on man.............. Bruce Lee was a Legend please respect that and talk about him as such, Chucky Cheese Norris, Please...............!!!
Dude...
The commentator does not what talking about ad-lib moves means
whaaa! my hands are registered as lethal weapons 😂 whatever you say kato!
Wow, a 10 year old on this thread who saw a movie about 3 years ago, but knows nothing about what happend 60 years before.
I'm glad you decided to let Bruce Lee Kill you Chuck! it was an incredible Movie. Love ya Brother, God bless.
Bruce Lee got his high kicks from Savate not chuck.
Not true, it doesn’t look like a real fight. I do think Bruce would have won though
Chuck sounds delusional 😂 about the high kick advice.. it’s hard to believe that he advices on high kicks..
