Doris Day is indirectly responsible for saving my life and the lives of my children ~ let me explain. During Hurricane Katrina, the Doris Day Foundation chartered a cargo plane to airlift shelter animals from New Orleans to Carmel, California. My two young sons then met and fell in love with a beautiful, black ragdoll cat from that transport; we adopted her and named her Mocha. She was a proper, sweet little kitty who, just a year after living with us, comes screaming into my bedroom in the middle of the night, fur on end, jumping on me and waking me up. I smell smoke and sure enough, some embers from our fireplace had blown onto our carpet and started a fire. If it hadn't been for Mocha, and if Mocha hadn't been saved by Doris Day ... Anyway, that's my Doris Day story ~ she will always hold the most special of places in my heart. Thank you for highlighting this incredibly kind woman.
Great story! And I know it's true because my cats did the same thing when my downstairs neighbor was drunk and started a grease fire cooking bacon, then falling asleep. I was taking an afternoon nap and the cats jumped on my bed, meowing in my face! My apartment was full of smoke from downstairs!
Critics agree, you look like a Golden Age movie star 🤩🤩🤩 fabulous job and fabulous look. Resemblance to Doris is uncanny and you nail the narration everytime 🤍
Yes Pillow Talk is a must see and so is Send Me No Flowers this is my favorite movie of all all all time ! It's a must must see! 😊 . Im so impressed with your account of these beauties. And what a beautiful person you are inside and out, that was touching and you really warm my heart with your story times. 😊
Hi Ashley. I’m enjoying catching up on all of your beauty biographies. You do such an amazing job. You are a gifted story teller and make-up artist. Doris Day is one of my very favorite actresses and I love the way you told her life’s story.
I watched the Doris Day Show when I was a little kid with my Gran. I was very much affected by the AIDS epidemic in the 80’s and lost over 40 very close friends, colleagues and mentors. I also watched the Rock Hudson interview, along with 3 of my close friends that were fighting different stages of HIV at the time. She helped start a new dialogue around HIV/AIDS in America. This was beautifully done, Thank You 💜💜💜
Hi Nancy! ❤️ oh no, i am so sorry that you lost so many to AIDS... I’m so grateful that there were good hearted people back then speaking up and lending their hearts and hands. It was a heartbreaking epidemic... ❤️ thank you for sharing! Sending love and light in memory of those that were lost 🌟
I share your tears. Your tribute to the total person of Doris Day is possible because of your kind compassionate heart. I am a better person for having watched this episode. As I said the first time - Don't change a thing!
I really love your beauty biographies, but this one I had to leave a comment because I too love how Doris loved Rock Hudson and what she said when he passed away; that he was in heaven. I believe that wholeheartedly and I think that type of heart falls across all religions. I’m Catholic and I stand by love to all. It’s important and integral to this world. ❤
Oh no! Silly UA-cam!!! I’m so glad you found the video 🥰 one of my favorite things to do is watch UA-cam while I do my makeup so it makes me so happy that my videos keep you company while you do yours!!! 🥰
You do such a great job on these videos , I must say out of all that I have watched you look so much like my favorite Grace Kelly ❤❤ I would love to see a video about Princess Di if you haven't already or James Dean
Again Ashley loved this! So interesting. These are so interesting. Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong era. The nightclubs, singing, and performances, glamourous dresses, ahhh, just lovely. 💜💜
YOU are amazing ❤️🤍💙 Doris Day is my absolute fav!!! I own nearly all her movies. Both my daughters think she’s pretty remarkable too! Loved your testimony ! And yes, Doris remained true to herself. As we could all learn from her example 💜
Love it! Such a nice story telling, no marketing and selling involved like many influencers videos have today. And the comments about being a Christian just on point, Jesus loves you no matter who you are, where are you from, or who you love, after all he created us all. Wonderful video, happy I found it.
Doris was and still is out family’s favorite. My dad wasn’t into movies, but if Calamity Jane was on he’d drop everything to watch. It was my parents’ favorite movie of hers. I think I remember hearing a story when she got the call from the studio that she got the roll in Romance on the High Seas, that Jack Carson was the one who called her. She thought it was someone pulling a joke on her, but Jack was able to convince her they’d be working together.
She seemed to be very humble. I read that she didn't want a fancy headstone saying that she was a star, she either didn't want a headstone or a very simple one. She didn't think she was a big deal just a down to earth wholesome person. I read that she didn't think she was that great of a singer. This is all very interesting. I didn't know that her son once dated Candace Bergen.
Hi Ashley, I am a new subscriber and I really enjoy your channel. Have you done Linda Darnell yet? It would be interesting to see her life portrayed. ❤️🇨🇦
Thanks so much for your comments on spirituality, kindness and compassion. I am Christian but have great respect for all the true prophets and their efforts to evolve humanity.
Hi Ashley, this video is almost a year old, but I am just now seeing it and want to tell you, wow, super job on highlighting the details of Doris's life, and I LOVE your makeup choices. I am playing Doris in an award-winning musical about her life called "Day After Day" (yes, the title is based on the song she sang for Barney Rapp, as you talked about!) , here in Southern California. I absolutely enjoyed your video, and will be looking for many of your make-up selections for this run of the show. Thank you!!
Doris Day is one of my favorite actresses. When I was a child, and later teenager I saw every one of her movies. One FIlM you didn't mention was PLEASE, PLEASE DONT EAT THE DAISY'S AND I CAN'T RECALL THE NAME OF THE FILM WHERE SHE IS STRANDED ON AN ISLAND AND IS FOUND. HER HUSBAND IS ENGAGED TO ANOTHER WOMAN. IT'S HILLARIOUS. ALSO, AS A CHILD, I WOULD SING HER ICONIC SONG WHILE WALKING HOME FROM CATHOLIC SCHOOL. K SARA SARA WHAT EVER WILL BE WILL BE. MY BOOKBAG WAS SO HEAVY WITH ALL THE BOOKS I BROUGHT HOME AND DORIS HELPED ME CARRY THAT HEAVY LOAD.
Love this! Also, during the Waning Popularity section all I hear in my head is the Midge/Joel convo. Midge Maisel: Wait, you think Doris Day is sexy? Joel Maisel: Wholesome sexy!!”
Just an fyi so you dont think badly of it. With 6 you get eggroll...means if you have 6 people you are buying lunch/dinner for the eggrolls are included free -no extra cost as it used to be a la cart back then. Love your videos
Doris Day’s last film , With Six you get Eggroll, is a very funny movie. The title refers to a line in the movie where when the characters go for dinner at their favorite Chinese restaurant, if six people are at the table, they got an extra egg roll. It’s about blended families. Doris plays a single mother , who runs a successful business and not really interested dating. Her friend set her up with a single father, also not really interested in dating. They keep meeting and wind up falling in love. And trying to blend their 2 very different households. George Carlin has a small role
I knew about Charles mason and terry melcher connection that’s why the Manson family went back to that infamous house but I didn’t know terry was Doris days son
Marty Melcher was ROTTEN! He was originally with Patty Andrews, and literally broke up the Andrews Sisters act for 3+ years. Then he got bored, and decided to pursue the newer, younger, blonde singer/starlet, Doris Day. The press never reported (or knew?) that Patty showed up at Doris's home weilding a baseball bat! She wanted to kill them! Luckily, Doris's Mom calmed Patty down and she returned home... 😱
A LOT OF MEN wear make-up. A LOT! How about showcasing the life of a few who pioneered this inconspicuous to distinct TREND! Boy George Might be an interesting start. He’s a MUCH RESPECTED survivor!….and I hear a downright nice man. Female ideas: Contemporary; Liza Minelli. Classic Hollywood; Judy Garland, Susan Hayward, Greta Garbo…ALL have FAME & TRAGEDY attached to their careers.
Thank you for putting out there what true christianity is.... Jesus reinforced love compassion and empathy towards everyone. That is not current christianity.
Ashley herself looks like Hollywood star from the Golden Age ☺️
Thank you so much! 🥰

I loved Doris Day so much. I was such a strange child, watching all the classic movies and researching the stars.
She was fantastic! ❤️ that’s not strange at all! I did the same! 🥰
If that makes you a strange child, I was right there next to you! ☺️
Me too the mire classier ladies

Her most incredible attribute while on earth was Doris Day had been a compassionate human being to fellow human beings 🥲
Amen Cee Cee! 🥰 She was fantastic and kind!
