- Our Narrowboat Quest -What's going on in the bedroom on our Narrowboat!
Join us on our narrowboat journey as we leave our mooring at Wells Creek Church on Wells Creek and set off on our 2 hour cruise to March. Just before going through Marmont Lock we have a catastrophe and lose something in the river.
We pass the junction to Pophams Eau, (Ear) a drain cut by Sir John Popham in the early 17th century in an attempt to try and connect the River Nene to the Well Creek to improve drainage in the area.
And The Twenty Foot River an alternative route , which by passes March, but has several very low bridges.
Just before the junction to the Twenty Foot River, the landscape is dominated by Stags Holt, the Fenlands largest wind Farm.
March is situated on a 'fen island' of higher land that rises above the low-lying fenland that surrounds it. Although some of the island is between 5 and 10 metres above sea level, much of the town is lower.
The River Nene (old course) flows through the centre of the town and was the main transport route until the mid 19th century providing the basis of the town's trade, but this declined with the coming of the railways in the 19th century. Now of course it is mainly used by leisure boats.
Ah…. And what’s going on in the bedroom!! The Time is now to show you our bedroom renovation.
We are Patrick and Eileen. In 2018 we decided to quit the rat race by giving up our jobs and selling our home to buy a narrowboat to continuously cruise the inland waterways of the UK. We bought a 57 foot Bickerstaffe boat which we named Dunworkin.
This is a record of our journey, Our Narrowboat Quest to explore the navigable waterways of England and Wales, to continuously cruise throughout the year. Join us as we experience all seasons, the wonders of our beautiful countryside, towns, villages and cities and even our industrial heritage, nowadays an ironic contrast to its raison d'être.
We love creating our videos and sharing them on UA-cam, so please feel free to share with your friends and family if you think they may be interested in our journey.

Thank you so much Sheryl, it’s great to have you with us. 😊
Very uplifting... Look forward to continuing your adventures and bedroom activities 🙀
🤣🤣, hope you enjoy. Thanks for watching and commenting!😊
Great cruise. I imagine storing your clothes from winter to summer is a time you miss your attic. But you have done well with the bed adjustments. Take care and look forward to your next video. Great to have you back with us.
🤣🤣, to us the underbed storage is like an attic! At least now we can get access whenever we want to instead of dreading the event! Thanks for watching and commenting!😊
Well done with the bed, must save you so much time and energy 👍
Most definitely Ingrid, it means that we can store items that we need quick access too as well. It’s certainly a game changer! Thanks for watching and commenting!😊
Lovely to see you on the foxes, let all the adverts run😊. The lake was beautiful as is the Nene. We hope to see you at Crick. Our journey starts there, our boat is with Swan NB Lerryn and will be on show with a very large posh 66ft boat 😂😂😂. Warmest regards Jacquie and Mark ❤❤
Wow, how lovely to be just beginning your journey, I remember how excited we were when we moved on board!!
We’ll be attending Crick on the Saturday, so hopefully we’ll see you there.
Welcome aboard and enjoy your journey!😊. Thanks for watching and commenting!😊
Always wanted to find out what went on in the bedroom ….nice to have you back
🤣🤣, now you know!! Thanks for watching and commenting!😊
Just grand to see you back! I hope all is well now. Taylor’s on Board have a car they will know the parking available so will Paul & Antony!
Thanks Helly, hoping to see Paul and Anthony next month when they attend the Electrika meeting at Brinklow marina. It’s great to be back!
Oh so that’s what happens in your bedroom! Lol 😂😂 Well done on the gas struts, you did a good job there! We store our clothes under the dinette. We’re really enjoying this journey and looking forward to seeing your next cruise, as you’ll be going past our old bungalow that backed onto the middle levels between Ashline lock and Stanground lock! Really pleased you’re back and so glad we’ve managed to meet up at last! See you later! xx
Aww, thanks Guys, can’t remember whether we filmed those properties, but Pat will be starting on that one tomorrow! See you both soon! 😊
Happy Birthday last September, Patrick! You may wish to keep a small magnet on a thin rope near the steering to retrieve things that fall in the water. Peace!
🤣🤣, thank you. So glad you’re back following our journey. We do have a magnet as it happens but on this occasion the antenna had electronic components on it and a lot of it was plastic so wouldn’t have worked even if we did manage to find it. 🤷♀️🙄.
Thanks for watching and commenting 😊
@@ournarrowboatquest4894 Oh yes, I understand! Drat. Hope you can find a replacement. Yes, I was off most subscriptions as I was spending tooo much time on fun videos. But I'm back.
keep em comin
We’ll do our best! 😊
Interesting bed conversion, please post a link to your gas strut parts. It will save me repeating your web searches.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. Here’s the link. amzn.eu/d/4ruxxlt
Well, hello again, from the USA. I sure missed you folks. I began to think that something bad had happened to one or both of you. I am glad to see that, that is not the case.
Yes I unsubscribed, but I have changed that. I hope everything is alright now. ;-)
Aww, thank you Robert, it’s good to be back. We are both well thankfully and so glad you have re subscribed 🙄.
Another Lovely video , Beautiful area. Personally I quite like the look of the wind turbines 😊 😍 Happy Birthday Pat 🎂 🎉❤. Does the gas filled bed hinges, have to be regased ?. Take care. Thanks for the lovely videos. ❤
Thank you so much, we also like the wind turbines, they have an elegance about them! The gas hinged struts are sealed, so if they go we’d need to buy new ones. 😊
I'm happy you two are back vlogging! The gas struts will make all the difference - no more struggling with the seasonal clothing changes....and fewer backaches! Your quilting is such a beautiful way to add color to your home, Eileen.
Thank you so much for hanging around, the gas struts were definitely a game changer. Thanks for watching and commenting!😊
👍
Thank you!😊
Hi Pat & Eileen, found you by the Foxes Afloat, thank you so much for your vlogs, nice to have you back 🫶👍

I'm still here. It's so nice that you're back.
Thank you so much, we really appreciate you hanging around. 😊. Thanks for watching and commenting!😊
Nice to see you both. The gas struts make a huge difference. I’ll delegate that job to my husband! Eileen, your patchwork quilt and window bungs were the highlight for me. Wonderful to see that work. Janice
Aww , thank you Janice and the gas struts are definitely a game changer!
😊
Nice video. You'll soon be up to 20k 👍
I think that building was a brothel as there must have been alot of passing trade along the canal.
Maybe.
🤣🤣, if only I think 20K is a dream for us! Not sure about the brothel though, interesting idea😊.
Thanks for watching and commenting!😊
Loving the footage and also the idea in the bedroom. Would you be able to tell me where you bought the gas struts please. Such a brilliant idea 😊. Thank you.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. 😊

Great video. It's nice you show us where you are going on a map.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching and commenting!😊
Nice video to watch, Happy birthday Pat, I just hit my pension age a couple of weeks ago and I remember being a bit hacked off at having to wait another year for my pension. I am eagerly awaiting the first payment now. We are seriously looking at living full-time on a boat, with watching all these boat vlogs.
👋, Raymond, this was filmed last September, so Pat is eagerly awaiting his first payment in October this year! At least you guys are only having to wait a year or two, us ladies have to wait an extra 6 or 7 years!!
With regards to living on a boat, do it if you can or at least have no regrets 😊
@ournarrowboatquest4894 yes Eileen my wife, let me know about her extra wait. She will be 66 and 10 months. I am in total agreement, it's a disgrace for you girls.
Lovely to see you back on the cut. At 12:07 there is a shot of your bookcase (beside you Eileen) and then what looks like a rack with blankets rolled up behind it. What is that, please? It looks like a really good way for storing blankets etc. Also, what struts did you get for the bed, please?
Thank you Dave, glad you enjoyed it. 😊
The rack you saw is a towel rack, and towels stored in the shower room.

@@ournarrowboatquest4894 Thanks for that. We have always enjoyed your vlogs since we first found you many years ago. Now to see you on the great Ouse and middle levels is great. We did that run last autumn from Lazy Otter marina to Gayton Marina. Hope the medical appointments go ok.
Good job in the bedroom however, to prevent condensation shouldn't you have gaps in the base board?
Hi Alan, ideally yes, we would have drilled some round holes in the board but we had solid boards before with a dri mat under the mattress which we didn’t actually show but you can see it at the back of the board at 15:20 on the video. We are keeping an eye on it though and if necessary we can drill some holes.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting. 😊
Great idea re the gas struts, much better for you xx
