I am Canadian 🇨🇦 and watch and love LBC. I have 1 friend in Wales and 2 in England and this makes me interested in what's going on there

Ironically "liberal" San Francisco is something of a hotbed for these exclusive posh clubs in America. Among them are the Bohemian Club (which still excludes women), Pacific-Union Club (women can only inherit membership and are not given full privileges), and the Olympic Club (which is still overwhelmingly male despite officially dropping its ban on women in 1990). These clubs also had strict racial requirements. Only men of British or Germanic origin could become members. Indeed Villa Taverna and Concordia Arganut were formed by influential Italian and Jewish men precisely because they were systematically excluded from the more prestigious clubs. But they too discriminated against women and other minorities. None of these elitist institutions are bastions of progressivism. Which I suppose is the whole point of their existence.

The labour party bringing in a conservative that is to the Right of the Tories is emblematic of what Starmer actually stands for. Absolutely nothing.
O’brien doesn’t mind though. He’s on starmers side no matter what
Labour voters (and others) probably want to give these Tories such an electoral trouncing, that whatever hurts them, whatever leads to their destruction, however fleeting, is fine. The just want to see them anihilated and the how doesn't matter.
If this cements the message among voters that the Tories are finished and Labour is a viable alternative, EVEN FOR TORY MPs, this might pave the way to an electoral catastrophe for the Tories. As a lefty I'd take that deal even if it gives a woman like this a brief consulting gig.
As a lefty myself, and one who has lost all interest in the current Labour Party, this woman being accepted with warm hugs and smiles only cements my reasons for losing all interest in the first place. Starmers Labour is not Labour.

Also, just FYI, this is a radio talk show, it’s about discussing what is going on not about interviewing all parties. This show has had callers with many perspectives on Russia/ Ukraine & Israel/ Palestine but as with any conversation no one has to agree.

As I recall there was a CNN presenter making accusations given who Putin was even though they had interviewed him years earlier

Betting platforms require you to have a credit card. Accessing information requires nothing and it is impossible to stop access to the internet. Some of the most opressive regimes in the world have tried this having spent more money than lonely England can ever afford and they have failed. This isn't a question. The evidence is out there. It has been tried and tested. This is a pointless avenue to explore.

For every negative story about social media, there is also an empowering story about how people have met each other and climbed mountains, etc. This is a really bad way to look at the problem a pointless way.. your kids will access the internet, get over it and they will access social media. The only thing you can do is teach them how to use it responsibly and well.. you do not have any choice on this so don't waste your time debating it

Don't really understand how the online privacy bill can work in a world of VPNs and the modern internet.
You have a choice of making is so easy to avoid its basically worthless, or you join Turkmenistan and North Korea with incredibly restricted internet access.
Most VPNs require card payment which young people will struggle to provide and parents could easily cut off. What you need to remember is that young people have repeatedly said in poling that they would like to cut down on their social media usage, but these things are very addictive. Putting even just one step of inconvenience will have a huge positive impact
@@mattreid2463 Unfortunately this is not the case, especially for the more disreputable VPNs. You can link into something like TOR or onion and access anything for free. I was able to get that kind of thing running when I was 16 quite easily, it's more worrying as that also opens up dark web content.

Betting platforms and accessing the Internet is a wildly different thing. I come from a technology background. He doesn't understand this issue at all. You can't stop kids accessing the internet. Even Russia spending billions was unable to stop telegram. He is way out of his depth on this subject as much as I respect his views on many things.

I understand where James is coming from but he doesn't understand with technology you can't close the door. So you have to learn how to teach your children to use it. You can't. Uninvent a spanner it's here whether you like it or not and you have to learn to use it well. Like a knife, you can use it to cut things to craft things. But it can also be used for ill. You can't close the door on technology. It's impossible. It's what we do. You need to get over that. Teach your kids how to use this incredible technology to their advantage and to understand its dangers just like an axe.. I promise you you can't close the door on it. Technology does not stop because of people 's dislike of it.. think of the luddites they were right but they were also wrong. The genie is out of the box you need to learn to embrace it and use it well. It's a superpower trying to cut them off from it. Makes them weaker. You can only teach them to respect it
