- Headed down to Seacliff Beach to see if I could find a Yellowfin Whiting but also to pump out some nippers for Bait. Nippers , Saltwater/Bass Yabbies, Clickers or what ever you want to call them are some good bait that you can find on a lot of the tidal sand flats here is South Australia and further abroad. It takes a little bit of effort to pump them out but they are worth it, make sure to grab yourself a Bait Pump when you get a chance!
Bait collection was easy for this trip and I did bring some fresh frozen Beach Worms with me as a backup. The fishing wasn't the greatest with many small King George Whiting around and the occasional Toad Fish or Puffer. I did manage one King George which would have been close to legal size but for some reason I wasn't well prepared this trip, forgetting my tackle bag, catch net and ruler
back at the car!
So this video is more dedicated to pumping out the nippers for Yellowfin Whiting bait which anyone can do as long as they have a bait pump. I hope you enjoy the video guys and if you do, give me a like, hit the subscribe button to get notified when new videos are available.
Have a good one!

Great work! Yes, I have fished there before too, it's a nice spot there and very relaxing, just gotta watch the rising tide, I have been caught out a couple of times in deep water...LOL! not great in waders getting back to shore half filled up 😒 Also it might be worth mentioning with the nippers to check for females with eggs ( yellow clusters under belly ) and perhaps release those so they can breed more yabbies. 👍
Getting caught out on a rising tide with wades on would be scary as anything! Fair call about females and eggs, I’ll have to cover that next time I make a video!
@@scaledupfishing2122 Yeah, not good and was a bit scary in waders. There are a few areas around there where the water suddenly gets deeper and if not careful can get caught out. Also gotta watch out for all those rocks too, can easily slip.
when using for bait do you remove nippers
Great learning video for me. I've got a pump I bought at a garage sale years ago but never used it. Would you get them down Carrickalinga/ Normanville way?
I’ve never looked for them around there but it would be worth a look!
Have you ever caught flatties here? Looks like it has all the characteristics of a good spot.
I use to stay in the caravan park as a kid each January. Few old timers use to bag out on gar almost everyday standing on the blue line.
Have you thought of pumping into a floating colander or something that drops the sand and leaves the nippers contained? Easier than chasing them after pumping surely?
Strangely enough I have used a floating sieve before and it help me when there was a strong ripple or dirty water but if the conditions are good they can be a pain! They have a tendency to get in the way a lot or float away when you need them, just my experience with them so I prefer to only use one when I have to.
@@scaledupfishing2122 fair enough. Loving the videos. Keep them coming
What’s the bait ur collecting ?
Commonly called Nippers but they are also called Saltwater Yabbies, clickers, bass yabbies etc
perfecto
Cheers!
Obviously only take what ya need but is there a limit on these ?
