I'm laying in a hammock mounted to some studs in my bedroom. sleeping like this for the past 3 months. no back or neck pain!!!!! love your videos brother!
"Somebody got their blinker on let them in" you know I was stuck in traffic the other night and was thinking the same thing and as I'm letting people maneuver in and out of the lanes in front me, without a care in the world that I'm stuck in traffic just enjoying the moment for what it is. Helping other people out as they come as I mosey through life.
Shug - I really appreciate your videos. Being a somewhat new backpacker, I really value the knowledge that you pass along and the light hearted manner in which you do it. The whole purpose of backpacking is to have fun after all!
Nice job as usual You bring back memories as I know this spot with the falls. Noisy but Great Noise. On my last hike/camp trip I took my small tape/ message machine. No cells yet. 1973. I made a full mini cassette of the sounds and played it for years on my reel to reel. Thanks Shug. Time for some control line.
I dont mean to be so offtopic but does any of you know of a way to log back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly forgot the login password. I love any assistance you can offer me!
HI Shug - It's great to see you out in the outdoors doing what you do. In 2 weeks I'll be setting off with 4 friends on a 16 day, 247 mile trek in the north of England, Alfred Wainwright's Pennine Journey. We'll be walking through some of the most picturesque areas of the UK, and I can't wait. Take care Shug and all the best.
Our Memorial Day coffee on the porch was extra fine this AM thanks to not 1 but 2 Shug videos on the ipad. Add a tally mark to your wall Shug for yet another tent to hammock convert. I started with a homemade greenbean style hammock, tested it with a backyard overnight hang and now have a Blackbird XLC on order. Looking forward to a better nights sleep in the backwoods of the North Cascades. Thank you Shug for such entertaining and educational videos. -SOTAgoats
I has a hard time finding the PB poptart in Canada but I did last summer and enjoyed everone of them. Than last week I found the last remaining package in my freezer just before leaving for a 3 day canoe trip, what a glorious 1st morning that was on my trip savored ever last bit!
Very much enjoyed the first spring trip of the year. If I would have known you were coming to Florida I would have bought you dinner. Oh well, maybe another time. Thanks for sharing.
i'll save this one for later. chilling out this evening with hammock in the back yard looking up at the stars barbecue at the ready (for a change the weather in the uk is hot and sunny) also the space station is due to fly over so that's my evening entertainment sorted cheers
two thumbs up great video really enjoyed watching thanks for taking us along with you look forward to seeing you again take care of yourself wish you all the very best until next time my friend
Glad Shawn likes his ridgerunner. My ridgerunner and cloudburst should be at my back door in a week. Never got comfortable in a gathered end hammock even my wife's blackbird.
thanks for the shugery morning, headin out with the tide, the shrimp are awesum in sc,the crew watches u in the boat between drags, ive got them all addicted to ur older vids
Thanks, I needed to see some of that great stream and forest. I love the smell of cedars in the northern forests (i.e. eastern U.P.). Insightful and hilarious narrative! Hope you have a great summer season. Cheers!
What am I doing? I'm glad you asked... Drinking coffee, and watching your video (pathetic, ain't I?) ... Next best thing to being there. (yeah right) I share your sentiments on peanut butter. I have two pit bulls... Both rescues. Muscle bound bundles of love is right. Total sweethearts. Thanks again for sharing.
Im excited because my Sno Peak 450 double wall mug arrived today and it really does nest with my SP600 boiler. Can't wait to take the Starlyte and homemade windscreen out for a pretty boil and some Cafe Bustello.I know you understand. 5Tango over and out.
Shug awesome to see you rocking the Tunnocks and Penguins, two of my favourites here in the UK. Always a treat to see your vids in my subs list. Good on ya mate.
shug, wanna say I really enjoy your videos been watchin them for awhile often on my iphone which for some reason I cant leave any comment thru, so heres one finally. I find you inspiring and I long to be like yourself over the years to come. im 43 and need to do a lot of work yet.. hope to meet up in person some day on the trail or wherever. thanks again be well and be as shug as you are.
Watched for weather as well as your trip report, interesting.Spent 3 days at Fall Lake camping and canoeing with storms blowing thru with heavy rain May 24-27. Went to Black Lake WI for the next 3 days with the same weather. Looks like yours was much better. Must be a cloud following me. Lookin' great! Have more!
Never been to the SHT. I want to go!! I'm always in the Porcupine Mountains. Ever been there? Keep those videos coming. It gives us sometime to talk and dream about at work. We love you down here in Milwaukee!
Wanna know what i do ? I am watching you talking to me ;-)) Love to see you in the woods having your breakfast from the Hammock !! Your Channel is pure inspiration to me ! The Gods may bless you ! Grüsse aus Berlin ,Germany Falko
50 degrees? Shug, we were out camping this Memorial Day weekend in TX, and it was 90 in the afternoon! Our "clothing system layers" consist of shorts+Tshirt followed by nudity. Thanks for showing me how the other half lives! (Time to check air fares to Duluth.)
Waiting for some SHT looks this spring. I tore my quad tendon a few weeks ago and I'm on the mend so probably wont make it up there until fall now. Always beautiful up there..
Excellent part 2! The peanut butter pop tarts sound good! I never heard of them. I'm still using a cheaper $200 Sony cx240 video camera. I actually bought another one as a backup.
Tunnocks.... Pretty much the best things on the planet, please tell me you can get their 'teacakes' out there..! It is good to see what other people use when they go camping. I like the look of that guys pot and stove. Plus his little chair 😏 Another great trip there buddy thanks for sharing it with us.
Many thanks for taking us along, a really great trip, really sad news to hear about the peanut butter pop tart situation. But great to see all that UK stuff, i grew up on thoes caramel bars love them :)
Hey shug I live in Horry county sc home of the infamous myrtle beach . I drive a roll off garbage truck and over the past 10 years I have steadily witnessed the decline in social behavior on the road it is sad . I just prey its not a simpton of a larger issue but you know it is I say hammocks for everyone and three days on a busy Trail so you can rediscover that we need each other . love uncle fester.
Real nice casual video Shug. I'm thinkin' just maybe a little doggy for Shug in the future. Me and my girl (border collie) Luna are hangin' buddies. We like to go paddlin' and portaging in Quetico Park every year. They're nice to pal around with on solos. I'm going to bring pop tarts with this September in honor of the deceased peanut butter chocolate ones. Also I loved your comments at the end about veterans. My son is currently serving and they all deserve recognition for what they do.
Great to see you out in the woods again you love your films.. Gobsmacked to see you eating Tunnocks, my favourite here in the UK. If you get chance try the Teacakes, Chocolate and fluffy marshmallow with a biscuit base, Whooa Buddy!!!
Aye, a fine old family firm ,Tunnocks still going strong, they started as Coffin makers with the slogan 'why be miserable in life when you can be comfortably buried for thirty bob' (about 2 dollars in today's money).
Another nice video, seeing you having breakfast from the hammock, pop tarts and coffee, sounding like my Irish grandfather, gives me a warm feeling in my heart. You have the most interesting candy bars, where you get those things, a world market store?
Great trip! Funny about the clothing.. I wear these three Rothco t-shirts and they've been holding up for years. All I do is wash air dry. Best part is.. they were cheap. lol Thanks for the video
I cannot think of pop tarts with out hearing in my head 'pehp tehhrrrrts.' Also with the idea of backpacking more to get better at it, there's one thing that never got easier, getting up and moving in the cold and getting packed up in a reasonable time. For the lolligag trips it's no big deal, but my 3 weeks doing the JMT and wanting to get up before the sun starts cooking me, I could never get used to jumping out to the cold from a toasty sleeping bag, and no matter how much prep the night before to have things streamlined and ready to pack up quick, it seemed to take me forever to get packed and start walking. Oh, maybe there should be a coffee and doughnut pop tart... mmmmmmm!
The only place I can find my peanut butter Pop Tarts is at the Dollar stores. I can't figure out what the deal is either. All the others have stopped carrying them. Guess they just didn't have enough candy taste for the kiddies. Sad times Shug. Sad times:( Next they will be going after our beloved MEDAGLIA D'ORO :o Loved the video! The bit at the end are truly words to live by. Thankee and Whoooo Buddy!!!
Hey man great trip again your always enjoyable to watch just got back from a 10 day trip , and that instant coffee ☕️ great stuff, and what was Sadie sleeping in ? And thanks for thinking of the veterans, Iam marine veteran hoo raw
I got up into some BWCA goodness this memorial day weekend and much to my surprise where I went was very low traffic. I told my two female (one friend, one girlfriend) companions to watch your video's as a way to know a bit of what to expect in camp life. The fun small/world surprise is that one of the ones that went is going to view your performance this week with her daughter... I'll make sure to tell her to bring 10 bucks worth of candy so she can get a couple pictures with ya!
They had a blast, and said your show was amazing! I heard the crowd support was typical as to be expected from us northern Lutherans lol. I checked every grocery store within 20 miles of here for those pb and chocolate pop tarts, figured I would be able to dust some off that time had forgetten but no go, thank you for the sticker and patch for the effort.
Hope you're well Shug! Wore my Shug Shirt from the mercantile store for our 1 night adventure on the AT out of Neel's Gap, GA this weekend. Thought of you with the breakfast from the fallen log (sorry, no hammocks.) Buzzbomb is taking a big Memorial Day nap (he's earned it, he's a veteran!) See you on the trail!
Hey Shug! Great to see your hammock videos again. Your right about the peanut butter and chocolate pop tarts. I am in Pennsylvania and same thing very hard to find in my neck of the woods. I do have one question to ask you and no rush in answering it but what is your best advise to looking for a safe water source? Take care and be safe out there and if I find those pop tarts I will mail you some. Heh he!
You have time travelled back in time for part two of this video. Good to see you in the woods. I agree with the layering system thoughts. Sometime when I backpack in Tennessee my heaviest garment is a Pategonia mid wt. capeline zip tee neck. With synthetic tee shirt and a nylon long sleeve shirt. When I go up north this Sept. 21st for an eight day in the BWCA I will definitely carry a fleece, but do I caarythe mid wt. capeline also? Layering is the way to go"
Shug, like fine wine, your videos get better and better brother! I gotta admit, I hate to see your source of cpb pop tarts dry up. Stay safe and we'll see you on the next one you cool little ginger scamp you! LOL! - DPO
Wow this was memorial day weekend?! The woods up north look like the woods near the cities did a month ago. didn't think it lags behind that much up north.
another great video like always. ain't watched in a while and I've been definitely missing out. I'm 18 and i can't wait till I can get out in the piney woods on my own one day. ragnewsius posius and whooooooo buddyyyyyyyy
Shug.... my favorite Pop Tarts are the Red Velvet ones. About a month of so ago I was in a Kroger's and looking to score on their 3 for $5 boxes of Pop Tarts. Well, as it turns out there was a rep from Kellogg's there in the pastry aisle. She told me at the time that this year they were discontinuing the Red Velvet, Chocolate PB, A&W Rootbeer, and (I believe) Crush Orange this year. She didn't say when, but just that those flavors are going away. :-( I did score a few save $1 on 2 boxes coupons from here though. But, sorry to bear sad tidings. I'll have to start checking out the Chocolate flavors now. Although what's really aggravating is that NONE of the PB flavors are even mentioned on their website. Sad. Cheers! DonP
I like the way you cut to the close up of the water rushing over the rocks, 4:36, and then slowly moved out from that point. I need to take my time filming, like that. Makes a nice transition to the next section. more practice, Ted..... winterbeard FritoBandito54
Starts in OK ends in Little Rock AR. Roughly 240 miles, if you wanted to do a section over the fall just drop me a line and we'll see if we can set up a trip.
Shug when you make your clothing system video can you show how to properly apply PERMETHRIN to clothing and gear. ive never done it and the guy in the store made it sound fairly dangerous if not handled the right way.
Me thinks the Shug needs some drone footage of some of these places you are going. Might I recommend the small and light DJI Mavic or the DJI Spark? If I were a rich man I would just send you one. Some of the awesome video that you could shoot would blow your shug followers minds... Do it... you know you should!
I'm laying in a hammock mounted to some studs in my bedroom. sleeping like this for the past 3 months. no back or neck pain!!!!! love your videos brother!
Whoooooo Buddy)))))
"Somebody got their blinker on let them in" you know I was stuck in traffic the other night and was thinking the same thing and as I'm letting people maneuver in and out of the lanes in front me, without a care in the world that I'm stuck in traffic just enjoying the moment for what it is. Helping other people out as they come as I mosey through life.
It feels human to do it and unclenches my buttocks.
Great ending to your video. Thanks for the veteran shout out. Love how you celebrate freedom!..
Aye.
Nice sign-off Shug 🇺🇸
Thankee
Shug, love the American ending! God bless and thanks for sharing your experience. 🇺🇸 Semper Fidelis

Great stuff Shug! Thanks for taking us along. Had this one in my watch later list too long :)
Y'elcome and thankee.
Thanks for another great video! You're amazing Shug! Really like your videos, please never stop!
I won't stop until I am realy old. Thankee.
Shug - I really appreciate your videos. Being a somewhat new backpacker, I really value the knowledge that you pass along and the light hearted manner in which you do it. The whole purpose of backpacking is to have fun after all!
A fun somewhat grueling challenge. Whoooooo Buddy)))))
Wearing the same clothes worked for the Skipper and Gilligan just fine. Great video thanks Shug.
Thanks Mr Shug for letting me tag along! Makes me want to get out and go! Atb

Nice job as usual
You bring back memories as I know this spot with the falls. Noisy but Great Noise. On my last hike/camp trip I took my small tape/ message machine. No cells yet. 1973. I made a full mini cassette of the sounds and played it for years on my reel to reel. Thanks Shug. Time for some control line.
The noise keeps the morning birds from waking me.
You are a hell of a rambler.
But a lousy gambler and a so-so scrambler.
I dont mean to be so offtopic but does any of you know of a way to log back into an Instagram account??
I stupidly forgot the login password. I love any assistance you can offer me!
@Ronan Joziah Instablaster :)

Oh and whew and Whooooo Buddy))))
The Shug's candy game is strong! One of my favorite parts is waiting to see what random candy bar he will whip out at dinner time.
It is very important to me! Thanks feller.
Your macros and slow pans are absolutely wonderful Shug thank you so much. -O&B
Thanks. The camrea is a right good one.
I love watching your videos Shug! I agree with you on your last comment. We all need to chill and not be in such a hurry.
True. Why be territorial on the roads. Leads to nothing good.
I has a hard time finding the PB poptart in Canada but I did last summer and enjoyed everone of them. Than last week I found the last remaining package in my freezer just before leaving for a 3 day canoe trip, what a glorious 1st morning that was on my trip savored ever last bit!
I still have a stash. Then I will learn to make my own.
Went for my first hike on the SHT last weekend. Already can't wait to go back. I can't thank you enough for all your advice on gear! :)
Hope it was a right goodie.
I can't put my finger on why I enjoy your vids so much. I like that you detail all the gear but without sounding like a shill.
If I don't show it and explain...someone will ask anyways. So thankee for that.
Thanks for another great video, Shug! Super quality - loved that mesmerizing river! John
I am still in a trance.....
Very much enjoyed the first spring trip of the year. If I would have known you were coming to Florida I would have bought you dinner. Oh well, maybe another time. Thanks for sharing.
Had the family on vacation. I was busy shucking oysters!
Took the day off work, put on a pot of coffee and having a Shug marathon! Life's good :)
Will take a lot of joe to get through me. Thankee feller. Bet you are sick of me now.
Never!!!
i'll save this one for later. chilling out this evening with hammock in the back yard looking up at the stars barbecue at the ready (for a change the weather in the uk is hot and sunny) also the space station is due to fly over so that's my evening entertainment sorted cheers

"Someone has their blinker on, let them in." Sums up one heck of a lot about courtesy, well said!
We need to work as a team on the roads.
Glad Shawn likes his ridgerunner. My ridgerunner and cloudburst should be at my back door in a week. Never got comfortable in a gathered end hammock even my wife's blackbird.
Hope it does you right good.
Where can we petition for PB pop tarts?! Root beer and orange crush pop tarts? Someone at pop tarts is out of their mind.
We must search every grocery store in the land for PB and PBC Pop tarts and send them to our Lord of Loligag!
I will now start making my own.
Oh please do. I ask for not much.....!!!!
I see an opportunity for Justin's PB here
thanks for the shugery morning, headin out with the tide, the shrimp are awesum in sc,the crew watches u in the boat between drags, ive got them all addicted to ur older vids
Lightly fried or boiled...love 'em.
Thanks Shug, you're videos are an inspiration to get out there.
Whoooooo Buddy)))))
Thanks for the videos. Just got back from castle danger to gooseberry falls. First solo trip and I'm addicted. Happy hiking
It gets to you....the solitude.
Thanks, I needed to see some of that great stream and forest. I love the smell of cedars in the northern forests (i.e. eastern U.P.). Insightful and hilarious narrative! Hope you have a great summer season. Cheers!
I too adore cedars.
What am I doing? I'm glad you asked... Drinking coffee, and watching your video (pathetic, ain't I?) ... Next best thing to being there. (yeah right)
I share your sentiments on peanut butter.
I have two pit bulls... Both rescues. Muscle bound bundles of love is right. Total sweethearts.
Thanks again for sharing.
I love head wrestling a Pit.
Im excited because my Sno Peak 450 double wall mug arrived today and it really does nest with my SP600 boiler. Can't wait to take the Starlyte and homemade windscreen out for a pretty boil and some Cafe Bustello.I know you understand. 5Tango over and out.

Me and that dog got along well.
Thanks for takin' us along! ZZ.
Whoooooo Buddy)))))
Great video! People always in a hurry to get no where... that's why it's nice to get away from it all. Keep up the great content and have a great day!
I am an impatient person and the woods bring Zen. One place I can find and achieve it.

Fall is the best up there. Heal up.....
i love shugs outlook on everything. i wish he was my goofy uncle or something
I'd rather be your handsome, rich uncle....!
Looks like you have another 4 legged friend! Sadie sure did warm up to you, I can see why. WOOOBUDDDY!!!
Her and I done made friends.
Excellent part 2! The peanut butter pop tarts sound good! I never heard of them. I'm still using a cheaper $200 Sony cx240 video camera. I actually bought another one as a backup.
They satisfy! But no more.....
Tunnocks.... Pretty much the best things on the planet, please tell me you can get their 'teacakes' out there..!

Another great trip there buddy thanks for sharing it with us.
I find them at the Irish Shop from time to time here.
Tunnocks are the best. I'd send you some out there but the teacakes probably wouldn't fare too well...🤔
Enjoyed the video Shug. Keep the hammock videos coming.🏕⛰👍
I always will as much as I can do.
Many thanks for taking us along, a really great trip, really sad news to hear about the peanut butter pop tart situation. But great to see all that UK stuff, i grew up on thoes caramel bars love them :)
I have a refined sweetie palate from my years living abroad.
The picture looks good on the new camera but the sound was really good and clear even with the river running right along side camp..
Good to hear that.

I want to make my own pop tarts.
Be proud.
Shug Pop Tarts. Peanut butter and chocolaty goodness. Great idea.
When the peanut butter pop tarts disappeared from my local stores a few months ago, I assumed it was you hoarding them :-)
Xtree Good! I like that blinker thing. Happy Memorial Day!
Hang0n.
Makes my buttocks un-clench to do it. We as a country need to be a better team and it starts with the small stuff.
Amen Brother!
Great to see you out in the woods again you love your films.. Gobsmacked to see you eating Tunnocks, my favourite here in the UK. If you get chance try the Teacakes, Chocolate and fluffy marshmallow with a biscuit base, Whooa Buddy!!!

Great trip shug. You had some great camp sites.
Too true. Running water.
Just got back from an awesome weekend camping out with my daughter, new shug vid was icing on the cake I mean whooo buddy. Early!

lol right!

Looks like some fine fishing spots. I'd have to pack in my fly rod for sure.
They are there waiting....
BAHAHA!! I got a nice belly-laugh from your "attention getter" before describing the new camera. That was a hoot.
Had just wolfed a burger and malt!
wow. I'm glad to finally find out that I'm not the only one that's ever had to hang against a small tree.
It was nice to sit and lean on.

Great to hear all that. Hope I meet her and the kid and that they do bring candy!!!!!
Nice to meet them and thanks for the Pahp Teehrts!
Very well...cooking ribs! Thanks for the Shug-shirt -support. Whoooooo Betty))))
shugemery You are also our butt inspiration...Bad Byron's of course!!!
Got some Bad Byrons on these...just pulled them off!....flic.kr/p/U1fH4d
shugemery We'll be right over! All secure in Sector 7!
Don't know how you do it. Great video! Esp like at 9:49 with the paws coming out of your hammock.
Whoooooo Buddy))))
Heh he!
I drink what I see....rivers, creeks, lakes, streams even beaver bogs. I filter it though.
Thanks for answering. Take care and keep on hanging.
Layering is the way to go"
I would for sure bring warm gear that time of year. Yes. Do.
Shug, like fine wine, your videos get better and better brother! I gotta admit, I hate to see your source of cpb pop tarts dry up. Stay safe and we'll see you on the next one you cool little ginger scamp you! LOL! - DPO
I do so thankee.
Wow this was memorial day weekend?! The woods up north look like the woods near the cities did a month ago. didn't think it lags behind that much up north.
Yes...last wed/thursday. Big difference.
The chocolate covered PB pop tarts were seriously the best! I was really sad when I saw them pull the price tag for them in my local grocery store!!
I am going to make my own!
You are an absolute US treasure. Thank you Thank you Thank you.
That is treasure pressure! haaaaa
They started making a Dunkin Doughnut Pop tart, the Mocha Latte is fantastic!
Really? I'll hunt those down as a try.
another great video like always. ain't watched in a while and I've been definitely missing out. I'm 18 and i can't wait till I can get out in the piney woods on my own one day. ragnewsius posius and whooooooo buddyyyyyyyy
Go...go now to the woods!
Video made my morning.... Yea... Lets all work together... I'll remember the blinker tip 😜
Easy to let them in. Cool.
Shug.... my favorite Pop Tarts are the Red Velvet ones. Sad. Cheers! DonP
I have not tried the RV. Gonna learn to make my own. They Pop Tart tease us then yank them away.
I like the way you cut to the close up of the water rushing over the rocks, 4:36, and then slowly moved out from that point. I need to take my time filming, like that. Makes a nice transition to the next section. more practice, Ted.....

If you ever make it to central Arkansas, would love to show you the Ouachita trail.
How long does it take to see it all?....haaa. I have looked at it on maps before. Never sure where I will end up but usually right here or NC/SC.
Starts in OK ends in Little Rock AR. Roughly 240 miles, if you wanted to do a section over the fall just drop me a line and we'll see if we can set up a trip.
good to see you having fun..
Whoooooo Buddy))))
Shug when you make your clothing system video can you show how to properly apply PERMETHRIN to clothing and gear. ive never done it and the guy in the store made it sound fairly dangerous if not handled the right way.
I just lay my clothes around outside and spray it on. Floow directions on spray bottle. Keep cats away until dry.
sounds good thank you
shugemery only if you like cats
Shug, do you treat your hammock and or suspension? Backpack?
Chuck Streich. I don't know if he's going to reply himself but I don't see why not (?).
Me thinks the Shug needs some drone footage of some of these places you are going. Might I recommend the small and light DJI Mavic or the DJI Spark? If I were a rich man I would just send you one. Some of the awesome video that you could shoot would blow your shug followers minds... Do it... you know you should!
I would need a drone valet to tote it.......!
brown sugar and cinnamon pop tarts, toast em and a couple scoops of good vanilla ice cream. talk about good eatin!
They are good. I'll be going back to them sans the ice cream. I like to segragate my sweets.
Somebuddy got their blinker on, let 'em in.

Peanut Butter is a way of life. Whoobuddy!
Makes us a better team as Americans to work together on small stuff. Gotta start somewhere.
