Torture Test - Are Monstrum & TactiCon Optics Worth Your $$$?

- Опубліковано 7 лип 2021
- In this video we test the Monstrum Marksman 3X30 Prism Scope and the Monstrum 3X32 Raven Prism Scope, along with the Tacticon Predator V3 Micro Red Dot paired up with their Falcon V1 3X Flip Magnifier. We put them through more abuse than most people ever put their optics through, and wanted to find out if the juice is worth the squeeze. Are you worried that you're going to buy these and be pissed off in a month or two? Should you take out a personal loan for an ACOG? We'll shake it all out right here! We understand that some of you may be upset that we didn't perform the age old ritual of "The Water Bottle Test".... Don't have a tactical anxiety attack! We'll be destroying them in the next video.

So. Where's the test?
I think the test video is a dlc you have to pay for separately.
They got those Bluetooth results
I had to go through 3 different videos of guys unboxing the optic and calling it a "review" and one where a man was rambling in his garage about all the crap he had...so THANK you for this actual review.
I know exactly which video you're talking about LOL
I appreciate you guys being willing to give a fair shot to those of us that do want to put moderate priced gear on out range toys and not just break the bank to say we have the most expensive made. Big thumbs up
I have the tacticon setup here. Took it to the range, zeroed, shot 10 30rd mags through it, and it held the whole time. magnification is only 3x but I was able to ding 400yrs. Mind you I'm pretty new to this stuff, but I'm happy with it.
I've been testing new Monstrum scopes like G3 and Panzer. I even did subzero testing. ...I just ordered 3 more Panzer scopes with my own money's. The vids are up in my Armory Playlist
I don’t know about any of you…but…I go hunting , bump my optics against trees , if I do drop my weapon with installed optic it’s maybe the first step into my deer blind…I’m not a combat soldier any longer so I’m not going to be dropping my weapon from a 20 roof top down to the ground and walk down to get it and tell the enemy to stop shooting while I retrieve my weapon and optic ….im not going to be in a jungle with muddy swamp water or quicksand …I’m not in the desert where sand will simply just overpower my weapon and optic…I’m no where where a tank will run over it …I simply take care of my optics and go hog hunting, small game hunting and deer hunting with my .308 with all my LPVO’s and I’ve been doing this for 3 years with these Firefields and Monstrum LPVO’s, red dot and magnifiers or prism optic…they don’t get any more or less dirty than anyone’s $800 optic…it does what it needs to do…the glass and etched reticles in all my optics are just as clear or more so than the more expensive optics and my $150 optics have way more features than the higher priced ones and are more durable….if you want to and can spend $1000 on something to look through, it’s your dime…in my opinion you’re throwing your money away but to each his own …AMERICA !
If you have the money, or if you can save the money and don't need an optic right now, these will suffice in the interim. When I got my first AR, several years after I got out of the Army, I was really strapped for disposable income. I bought an older Monstrum 3x prism scope. The illuminated reticle went out about a year and a half after I mounted it, but as it has an etched reticle, that wasn't such a big deal. At that time, I was still able to put a five shot group inside the diameter of a quarter, at 100 yards. So if you absolutely are not in a position to get better, and need something right now, by all means, pick up at least one of the Monstrum optics.
Now my financial situation did eventual improve. I did remove the Monstrum prism scope, and I have it stuffed into a pocket in my original AR's case. But I have since built a dedicated home defense AR, and it has a quality, proven optic. I also built a third AR, to use as a range toy, and as a training platform for my sisters' kids. I can swap out the BCG and convert it to .22LR (CMMG conversion). I threw a "budget" red dot on it, which is perfect as a range toy.
In closing, don't let people bully you into going into debt to get something that is considered high quality, when you just can't afford to do it. I won't shame you for taking a "good enough til I can get better" approach.
I won a monstrum ghost magnifier and red dot combo. Been running it and its been working fine. Impressed yes. My absolute go to, no.
What's your go-to?
@@bullheadedgideon1673 Primary Arms MD-20 has been my favorite optic for some years now.
Monstrum raven with a tacticon angled iron flip sights has held up since 2020
Never knew a bullet could travel through a camera and hit someone, amazing technology
Appreciate an honest review. Most people dismiss them or flat out lie and say they break outright when they don't meet a price point. Just be honest what you're paying for and let people decide for themselves.
Tacticon falcon V2 is a good scope. About 300 rounds .223 no issues.
This is worth $99 especially if you tight on cash or not sure what type of scope you want. This is a really great buy. It 100% works
ordered mine the other day. it should be here wednesday. how well has it held zero?
Man the monstrum deserves so much more attention from the pew pew community! I got rid of my holosun line up and went to monstrum the quality and performance you can’t beat it! If people would try it out they’d be sold too. I love the set up on my Saint victor I run the P330 prism with 45 degree iron sights for close quarters and you can’t go wrong with it. I can easily get a eo tech or holosun or whatever but I’m telling you it’s not always about cost it’s about quality !
I'm seriously considering one of their prism scopes. Astigmatism is so annoying.
Keep grinding, y'all will blow up.
I recently purchased a tacticon v2 lpvo and it's very nice I definitely appreciated your review and torture test
Would love to see more videos from you guys, really solid content
Good Lord I've watched several vids to finally get to one that has substance! I can't try a bunch of stuff on a fixed income, and I got enough problems running equipment with one arm. Thank you guys for saving me a bunch of money! I was hoping this was a good one! Monstrum seems to be coming up in the world.
I have a few optics from them and with the price I paid I'm very happy with them.
I bought a Monstrum Raven and I couldn’t be happier! Well unless I got an ACOG, but the Raven is the best I can do living on my med disability! It with take me so long to save up for an ACOG that I’m realistically it’s out of my reach!
YOU SIR.... are why we're doing these videos. Thank you for comment!!!!

I would be thrilled to death just to be able to have kept all the personal kit I was issued when I was in the military. Better yet to stay updated with modern gear. But in case you didn’t know it, the deep state establishment government is slandering and libeling veterans as all being potentially dangerous and possibly terroristic threats to the country. When in fact we are only a danger to those who spurn the constitution and overreach their limited authority!
Good video. I have the tacticon magnifier paired with sig romeo dot basically for the reasons you described. I can use iron sights for clothes quarters 10 to 50 yards and magnifier for 100 to 200 yards. My only gripe with tacticon is that the flip mount is suspect. My first mount developed some wiggle after about 50 rounds. I tried tightening the mounting screws and snapped one of them, mount was still loose. Tacticon honored their warranty and sent me a new one and I haven't had issues so I'm happy. I actually put a strip of velcro tape just in case sobit would never wiggle again lol
Just picked up the Monstrum 3x and look forward to seeing what it can do within the year.
Just found your channel. Love the truck bed tool box. I had to modify mine to get the drawers to open more. Just put a tacticon VR on my 450$ radical 7.5 ar pistol. Took the magnifier off as all my shooting is less than 100yrds. Thanks for the video.
gun safety!!!!! i love gun safety! So much respect to you guys. Ive seen ZERO gun safety issues with you guys.
Good video thanks guys definitely subscribed and just bought a 1-4 lpvo from Monstrum absolutely love it ... will give the other company a try now ..thanks guys
Great video very informative and thanks for sharing!
Solid vid! I'd like to see some head to head comparisons on stats, weight in oz, dot size, blah blah. Maybe some range time, or atleast some more paper target results ;)
Glad to see that they held up well. I have a Monstrum Spectre LPVO and haven't had any issues with it. TBH, this was not a good comparison considering they aren't the same type of optic. Monstrum make a red dot/magnifier combo, too.
Would love to see more footage of you beating up the product while you talk about them, we got like six seconds of actual testing footage and like 15 minutes of sitting at a desk (track through the video and see!)
Appreciate the torture test guys
I have the Monstrum with canted sights. Best set up I’ve ever had. I love it
This helped me make my choice for optics on my b/u rifle
The prism scopes are definitely better in SHTF. because they still have a reticle even after the battery goes down. Once the tacticon reddot battery runs out... You have to junk the whole thing when there are no stores left, to buy batteries
Great video , loved this!!! Do more please subbed you. Also want to add I have the eotech and LCO but I'm more into optics than the riffles 😂 but I wanted to add that the monstrum also comes in zero power , and 3x, and 5x and its a prism etched scope so on or off the the sight is always there the battery just illuminates it . Also tacticon is a vet owned company and they make allot of great gear also love their vest and battle belt !!
I've had the Tacticon Predator V3 for 2 years now. I have banged it on things, had it hit the ground, had it bounce up pretty high in the bed of the truck after hitting a hole in the pasture, all of this and it has survived and retained zero. About the only time I have to adjust zero, is when I switch from the RDS to a magnified scope for hunting, then it's maybe a click or 2 off. One of these days I will get the Falcon V1 to pair it up with.
Scored the 3x32Raven, for $49.99 yesterday! Fde and going on a Lead Star AR.
Loves the video. Went out and got the Tacticon set up, iron sights and all. Iron sights are pretty good but have no markings to remind you which way is which. The predator does a great job. Had an issue with my first one and Tacticon replaced it very quickly. As for the Magnifier: not a fan. First mount broke and would no longer lock. Replacement broke while mounting. Brackets rattle like a mofo even when working. Switched to the Monstrum and am super happy. Solid construction. Snappy lock with no rattling. Bracket is very well built. All-in-all pretty happy. Thanks for doing the legwork, guys.
Iron sights wich way to go ???
@@BlackoutPatriot Adjustments. You do have to zero sights you know.
@CallsignWulf I know that . But he said wich way the iron sights go ..youll wich it goes when you click it . Obviously he's never used flip up irons before
Picked up a Mark ! at a gun show a few years ago and am pretty impressed with it, the etched reticle does not require that you turn on the illumination to use it, a big plus for me.
It seems well built enough that I would trust it on a defensive weapon, that being said I would not deploy with it or use it on a DMR, but at defensive ranges it would be fine.
(I have always felt that it would be hard IRL to defend in court a 300 yard shot as being defensive in nature)
ETA - This particular model clears flip up rear sights , although not by much.
I bought the Tacticon lpvo 1-4 six months ago. I frigen love it. This is coming from a guy who spent a ridiculous amount of $$ on my Trijicon and Vortex lpvos. I’ve run about 400 rounds through it and works perfectly. Great turrets. Glass is crystal clear. The 1X is superb. And the 4 power for me is plenty. I’ve got the 8x on my Vortex never use it. And it’s got an occular focus. I just ordered another one to put on my new X95 from them $99! Monster is great too. Got a rail and red dot. Perfect. Imho, these other companies you are paying for the name
Is your 1-4 the Falcon V2?
Interested in the falcon v2 as well

Thanks for the video I really enjoyed it I been thinking about getting some of them because I really can’t afford a ACOG or a EOTECH thanks for been honest
On Amazon I've read a lot of people talk about the bad finish on the Monstrums. several were saying they came worn right out of the box too.
must have blown the budget on the studio huh!
Subbed! , I like Tacticon. I have bought a set of back up iron sights for my ar, Two V2 predator reflex sights, a 3x magnifier, 2 tactical pistol lights and a laser for another pisol and now I bought 2 of there 1x4x24 LPVO for 99.99 plus tax on amazon All I can say for the money. I'm in. But I believe you know that cause of everything I've bought from them. Just good accessories for the money that doesn't hurt my wallet like a higher priced accessory will.
Thanks for the video!
I don't see Tacticon LPVO on amazon anymore they may have sold out quick at 99.99 each. But check there web site but the sale might be over
Hey guys thanks for the video!
i have the tacticon 3x. Super solid magnifier with a very clear glass
What are the thoughts on Feyachi V30 2MOA Red Dot Sight?
So far I am pleased with Tacticon's optics. How about Testing Field Sport optics and compare them to Tacticon and Monstrum's optics?
@tacticon legit optic on a budget. I have a bunch of high priced ones, but I took a chance on a local vet owned optic and it’s my favorite. Got one on an AR and my PC 9mm.
Good sh!t! Thanks a bunch for the video.
I grabbed the p330 monstrum things pretty decent I like it. Glass is clear eye relief is really pretty good
I have the monstrum and I love mine. I also don’t have flip up sights. I keep it on my 350 legend ar bc I run thermal on my others. For the money though it’s really clear and holds zero very well. I’d buy another if I end up with another ar to mount it to.
I own the Tacticon Falcon V2 with there 45 degree iron sights set up and they are great. I actually just bought 2 more 45 degree iron sights, red dot with the magnifier and another Falcon V2 for my 2 rifles I just bought as well. Great stuff. I haven't used Monstrum yet tho.
Have a Monstrom 1-6 FFP on my 9mm PCC comp gun 5k plus rounds has held zero and has been tossed in barrels.
I have a boat load of monstrum, better than the fixed prism. I recommend their 1-4.(run on my 300blk) And then their gen3 ffp for long range. Excellent optics.
I have recently started buying a "few" Monstrum scopes and prisms, and I won't lie some of their optics are okay and very useable !! I have a problem with their scope rings but those are replaceable .
love the video! also to any one in Colorado i highly recommend that range it is by far one of the coolest in the united states.
Tacticon is 50% off site wide right now! hurry up!
I’m looking at getting this combo for my sons M&P-15/22
i have a monstrum red dot and a primary arms 3x magnifier atm. i was thinking about getting 1 of those 3x ones because in the Marines i was used to a 4x acog. but i think i like my setup a little better. i cant see myself realistically engaging anyone past 300 yards or so. and if i am im not using my 556
Feyachi and Monstrum are good scopes Thanks for the vdeo and time
I've had the predator 3 for a couple of years now. I've swapped it on a few of my guns. It even held up on my ar12. I just ordered another predator red dot with the magnifier for my ar15.. I thought about getting a more expensive optic but instead bought another pistol with the money I saved.
i like my Monstrum scope more than my expensive scopes
I've been testing their 1x4 lpvo, monstrum.
Can you do the vortex spitfire 1x pleaseeee
I have sig romeo5 red dot, can I use it with Tacticon Falcon V1 3X Red Dot Magnifier ? I mean should I add mount when I install Tacticon Falcon V1 3X Red Dot Magnifier with sig romeo 5? Thank you.
I have the same setup. Sig Romeo 5 red dot with 1.4 inch riser and the Tacticon Falcon V1 3X Magnifier. Both line up perfectly, adjusted the magnifier setting to get clear view of sight. After a few hundred rounds, no issues at all. Highly recommend Tacticon Falcon V1 3X magnifier. Great company, great products!
Tacticon is winning me over their back up sights and barrel laser are solid.
I had to send my tacticon red dot and magnifier back because the magnifier was super loose and wobbly and the red dot looked like a tear drop not crisp at all. Super disappointed. Love Monstrum tho
First you have to remove the magazine from the gun. If we review it with the position what we would do is load it
I love my tacticon goes perfect with my MP 1522
Good video
I guess your heart also would be less broken if it happened to get stolen while mounted to a budget gun like a PSA or Del Ton rater than if it were mounted to a Knights Armament or Daniel defense... I happen to agree with you guys, some of these mid range to budget optics have proven to be able to withstand just as much torture as your higher end "battle proven" optics with one exception, I have yet to see one that's able to be submerged down to 30 meters, but unless you plan on wearing scuba gear in a defensive situation that's not even an issue. I do have a Holosun HE515GT-GR which can go down to those depths while possibly fitting into the mid range spectrum but it definitely would be at the very top end of mid range. Frankly, I think the Holosun HE515 series is a bit overkill for me and for that reason from this point forward I'll be accessorizing my weapons with brands such as TactiCon, Swampfox, Holosun (mid tier offerings), or Primary Arms...
Thanks for Frank info
Would the 330 be good indoors or home defense if you have astigmatism?
You need a prismatic aka. Prism scope for astigmatism like the monstrums they showed
@@ryanrivera1224 got one coming today! Thanks
I’ve shot out to 200 yards just fine with my tacticon V-1 red/green dot & v3 magnifier combo. 5.56 55gr. Some might prefer the use of a magnifier, but I personally don’t find it the most useful in this case, because it is a 3moa dot, and when you magnify it, it’s even bigger. That means you’re going to have a wider spread than an optic with a smaller moa dot if you plan on shooting out to 300 or more yards. At that point, I kind of prefer just looking through the red dot alone. You could get good with anything with enough TRAINING though. I would recommend the combo, it might just take some getting used to.
The monstrums are prism scopes, thus the weight. It’s not really a fair comparison
Tacticon makes some cool budget products but I'm skeptical about optics.
Take Colorado back from the communists!
Its true 👍 mine have been amazing for the price its mind blowing 🤯
Just a suggestion I think would help the channel (if you haven’t already started doing this) is to use microphones closer to the whoever is doing the talking (like clipped to your shirts). Even the cheapest microphones can improve the sound quality significantly if they’re closer to the source.
My tacticon red dot fell from 29 inches high (my bed) and the glass broke?? I guess not so great after all and with only 2 months in my gun
It has a lifetime warranty. Send it back for a new one
@@d10dozerman2 yep, they change it right away
I don’t know if I should take this serious. I was thinking about a monstrum but I’m just gonna go with primary or Burris
Burris the walmart special
Do not buy the V1 Magnifier I've had 3 in less than two years and they all fail after light use, now the red dot they offer is wonderful.
It's not that I can't put down $600 and up on an optic, It's that I'm NOT going to do it ! Especially with decent options in the under $300 range. I have two monstrums, both prism sights, and they are durable, hold zero just fine and have clear optics, very comparable to my Swampfox Blade prism. I have also tried some various cheap amazon sights that were junk (wouldn't hold zero, which is probably the most important aspect of a sighting system). BTW: Since a prism optic has an etched reticle, you really don't need the iron sights, since it is still visible even if it's batteries die.
Thank you for this. Working on KY first build which means I don't have a lot for accessories and I saw the montrum prisms and like the idea but didn't know if they were even worth it.
Your comment made my decision
Have used 2 tacticon magnifiers for a couple of budget builds for friends. You pretty much have to get your nose on the charging handle and your eye directly behind the center of the glass for it to work fairly well. There is no forgiveness with this magnifier and would drive a new shooter not to use it.
That's actually where you are syposed to be on an AR.
I will attest to this, very true in that you have to be so close to the glass. The answer is always TRAINING TRAINING TRAINING.
You need to get some new mic's closer to you. You can barely hear anything on the video
please explain to me the defensive shooting situation that involves a 1000 degree propane torch on my optic?
Post nuclear crisis with steaming pools of lava and melted traffic 😂🤷
Idk but with this heatwave it feels like a 1000 degree torch 🤣
Haven't you seen once upon a time in Hollywood? Flamethrower scene at the end dude.😂
Wow, Price Gouging at it's Finest, Monstrum's were Budget $30.00 Dots just 2 Years Ago, What Changed to Make them worth More Now?
I purchased those $30 reflex sights, still love it and was looking for another. These prism sights are completely different. Prism sights use a totally different process to make the reticle. Their new red dots are pricier but also use new manufacturing processes (like gas filled air tight chambers) to improve on the design. They start at like $60 now, which is still a bargain compared to many others.
A lot of things were cheaper 2 years ago. Did you just wake up?
Tv watchers ruined the economy.

@@troywiggin3135 a 3x scope can focus at ten feet… you are correct…. However, target acquisition with a 3x in a house, or close space isn’t going to happen as efficiently as it would with a lower power optic. 3x is really going to stretch it’s legs from 50-250 yards in my experience.
