Just a little tip, Maewings don't need oxygen, so if they pass out underwater they'll be fine, just like a bary or other semi-aquatic tame. Also, both Maewings lay eggs when breeding, meaning you get 2 babies, or up to 6 with triplets.

The C attack can pick up babies and put them in the saddle. It will claim unclaimed babies and imprint them to you as well. Very useful for getting a stuck baby out from under its mother without having to move your breeders.

Did you mention the charged leap? The meawing can crouch then jump super high, which is how they get away when you hit them. And I think you missed the parachuting. They won't drown in water, and you can slide while charging the jump and get even higher with the right timing. Oh, and picking up an unclaimed baby with a maewing will claim it gor you.
They also handle amazing in the water. Ive done the east island water cave with one with a pack of barrys in tow a few times, and their ability to swim up, down and backwards freely is excellent
Definitely a fun ride, Maewings. Can't wait til my new PC components arrive so my system can better keep up with the speed, and not pause every so often to catch up loading/rendering. A bit of supply drop hunting can net you metal ingots in the form of metal walls, pipes, stairs, etc. before level 20. Just place and destroy. Bonus cementing paste! That said, it's not that big a deal from 19 to 20.
Phlinger, you missed that the Met Wing doesn't have an oxygen stat and they swim insanely fast, as well as they stood across the surface of the water coming out of a Glide, making them one of the best possible early-game mounts for underwater as well as for the skies this in conjunction with their nursing abilities make someone of the best team for any stage of the game without question
Also if you aren’t paying attention and your maewing disappears, they are probably fighting crime without telling you. If they come back holding a fedora, it’s confirmed
so the new breeding setup is a maewing a pair of matboosted procoptodons and an oviraptor with dimetrodons for hatching if you are anti aircon seems nice an almost fully dino based breeding setup for early to midgame
You forgot the charged up jump Phlinger! Hold down jump, and they will get a boosted initial jump to help with gliding away. Also there is a ramp effect if you use the skid on a downhill slope and a boosted jump, they get serious speed and air time.
Ik its late but you forgot their water abilities. They have no oxygen meter and they’re extremely fast underwater, definitely faster then a meg but not quite as fast as an icthy, tho it’s probably pretty close
Just use the harpoon net to trap and a long neck with darts, takes two tranq darts to bring down a max level. Tames out pretty fast and only needs basic kibble...

I know I might be late and might make people feel old but Man I tamed 3 maewinngs The first because it looked funny The second because I wanted more (then it got hit by a sarco and suffered a 20% tame and just Stat dropped out the window) The third because I had two tranq arrows left and was probably going to throw the second away Found a level 26 and went no way it's gonna pass out from two treanqs And I was right It took a single punch to knock it out after the tranqs These things are so east to tame and really tanks early birds, only surpassed by the managnar wyvern and few dlc related dinos that I kinda just went " but what if I super breed a perfect tank maewing" I'm addicted to maewings in my quest to obtain the stupidest dinos Help
Phlinger, ....idk maybe is just me but in my game the Maewings have a loanding jump...meaning if u hold Space longer it will jump higher...test it out is really good. Hope this helps...
You forgot to mention that you can land safely without sliding on the flor with holding the right click button + u didnt mention that they are super fast underwater and have infinite oxigen. Aswell they can slide on the water as on the flor.
Just tamed one in fjordur so i can start farming all the loot drops on the map at once before they despawn. Sucks though i killed a 130 cause his stats sucked and then fly around for an hr highest i could find was 85 after that.
I’m not sure if this happens to anyone else. But when I went to mine oil in the ocean. I was far from my base but idk if I was so far my base wasn’t loading. I got 3 notifications that 2 babys died n I rushed back seeing the baby’s where starving. Although the maewing was filled with food. So idk if it’s because I left the zone. But this is just a heads up to probably stay close to the maewing

Anybody else notice these control differently on a server than offline single player? In single player the left thumb stick has to be held forward otherwise it'll just hover infinitly in the air. On my server I only need to use the right stick and point the camera where I want to go. Anyone know why this is or how to fix it??
So as for egg laying, im not exactly sure how to fully science it out. But it seems thay they have a higher egg laying chance id they are nursing babies. I have 2 maewings side by side, one nursing babies, one not, and the one that has been nursing, has laid about 4 eggs, in about a 4 hour period, whereas the one not nursing hasnt laid any

And the fertile eggs cannot be picked up and stored for later, they hatch immediately so it’s basically like they give live birth.

5:10 not an issue, maewings dont have an oxygen stat so can't drown, so non shark water is just fine to OK them in

A thing i like doing is getting to the tallest central area, setting down a teleporter, then using it as a maewing "get anywhere fast" hub.

If you build a bit of air speed and aim at slightly upwards you can infinitely fly and gain height all whilst going super speed 👍

Hold jump when sliding to do a super jump. Also flick up and down real quick to enter ludicrous speed.

Very important when useing them as a wet nurse make sure the maewing has food on them or the babies will die...
When you hold right click in midair, the maewing can be like a parachute.

Apparently u can tame baby penguin with this beautiful animal with the saddle u just pick up baby penguin and boom tamed

They have a super jump too. When you first hit the ground tap jump and they launch. Seems to be once per glide/scoot.
Maywings dont use oxygen. I tamed one in water.

These things are so large they don't fit through a regular dino gate, they need behemoth gate to get in and out of enclosures.
