For anyone looking for some exact stats here's what it took me: - Level 69 giga - 192 tranq arrows from an ascendant crossbow - 300 narcotics - ~3000 narcoberries - 800 metal and 250 cement paste for 5 gates - About 40 cooked prime meat for 95% efficiency, took about an hour I had about 600 narcotics on me and I'm not sure it would have been enough so I got out my stego and started farming nacroberries between feedings and would force feed her right after she ate.. About 1k berries were probably a waste since he tamed with like 80% torpidity. I'd highly reccomend the Ragnarok location shown here since it's super quiet.

@@SuperGamefreak18 pretty sure torpor etc are not different. resource gathering is, and breeding settings are, but as far as toughness of dinos etc it should all be standard. it's caused mainly by the fact that if the dot stops ticking at all, like if you stop to make a new stack of tranq arrows or your crossbow breaks or even just hit a lag spike that lets the giga start regaining torpor, you can lose a huge amount of progress. in about 4 seconds when he got up and checked it's stats, that giga dropped around 2.2k torpor. one slipup can cost you a lot. the other factor is that phlinger is using an absurdly good longneck with shocking tranq darts, which deals an absolutely ridiculous amount of torpor damage.
Little trick, if u want the gigas agro on a flyer, pick up a small creature e.g. dodo and because it's a land creature it holds agro on the dodo and never loses agro until distracted by another creature. Keeping u in the air out of reach and keeping his agro
I think that none of other carnivores will agro on a Giganoto, while they are sleeping, they are still considered wild by the game. Wild Carnivores don't often agro on each other, with only a few exceptions, where almost all wild carnivores will agro on an argentavis, only a few against a rex, and mostly nothing against an Giga.
On Ragnarok my base is in the highlands. It is not unusual to have a Giga on the map all of the time. As I type this there are 2 of them. One is stuck on a cliff near the ocean and hasn't moved in weeks. The other one decided to move right up to the hill my base is on so I had to do something. We have the Castles, Keeps and Forts mod on the server so I made three of the large sliding gates. I closed off the end of the ravine between the spires closest to me with one and the other end with the other two gates. The ravine forks there. These are the Keep gates which equate to being metal so even Gigas cannot hurt them. I place the first gate directly under the bridge over the ravine. They fit perfectly and completely block the entrance/exit spots. Once I have the gates in place and locked tight I use the rare flower method that I learned from watching Phlinger and lead the Giga to the ravine. I then land my flyer on the opposite side and shoot at the Giga which makes it try to get me and he/she falls in the ravine. I leave them there until they despawn. I have had an 85 male in the ravine for over 3 weeks now. I also lead bothersome allosaurs in as well because as long as they are alive there won't be a respawn of either type and they are out of my hair. You could use metal behemoth gates instead but the gates I use are much cheaper to make.
My tribesmen and I knocked out a Giga with slingshots while the 2nd in command got bio toxin. With a bow. We tamed a Giga with our average level being 17.3 (I calculated it)
Extremely informative! Much prefer that second trap you made there on Ragnarok, simply because you take it to the Giga. I tried with that first one and kiting the Giga across the plains is not only a pain but highly dangerous without a decent mount to take the hits and that you can also fire guns upon. I died several times using just an Argent simply because you have to dismount every so often but I've finally found a good Thyla to breed... so second attempt imminent once it's leveled. Cheers for this more in-depth guide Phlinger.
Bro thanks so much for making this video. My best argentavis Condor almost died but after using your trap (with billboards instead of gates for cost effectiveness), the giga was actually not too hard to tame. She was a low level, but she still is my best dino.
@@Abhi-qm3jj I’ve been playing Ark for two and a half weeks and I got a Giga basically solo. Of course, my friends traveled to get more narcotics (had like 200) and watched me while I trapped it, but all you really need is access to metal gateways. He’ll either agro on you or agro on the metal door frames forever. They will be chain locked forever. Point is that a beginner like me, with materials, can still basically do it solo.
Last one I tamed agro'd on one of the gates instead of going into the trap. Shot him with arrows from an asc crossbow until he ran, then went to the asc long neck with STDs. Easy peasy. Giga taming isn't hard if you're prepared, killing them is the challenge (without trapping first anyway).
My first ever giga tame was a level 3 giga that I found stuck into the side of a mountain. It wasn't able to move at all so I sprayed it with so many tranq arrows and went through like 4 crossbows, lots of bio toxin, and a bunch of raw prime meat.

I first found you channel at the beginning of your s4 of soloing the ark, and left shortly after you moved bases, but its kinda nostalgic to see the old base and the wood starter base. But, with the supposed kibble rework coming up, you may have picked the wrong time to start it, as you will either have to redo the vids or take them down and edit them or something. I started playing ark 2 months ago(solo), and in the last 2 days i have tamed 2 quetzals(lvl37lvl42) from the ground, lol and then used a quetzal to tame a giga(lvl20). Its been an interest few days lol
As someone who has used this tactic, you should get a griffin to fly over the giga and tranq it, or a quetzal with a platform saddle, tamed 2 gigas with that tactic.
Phlinger the advice in this video helped me tame my first giga. The tamed ones definitely suck, went down to 17k health and 50 damage, down from 115 damage. It probably wasn't worth it but I worked long and hard to get its health up to 20k before working on getting its damage up to 205.

It kept running from the cliff and the buggy shots weren't hitting at a distance so every time it ran back it had lost like 30% of its torpor. Most frustrating thing to tame imo.

Phlinger I borrowed from your taming pen designs for mine. The containment area is 10 metal dino gateways stacked in a circle, with a 4x wide metal ramp leading up to it with metal railings stacked along the sides to funnel the bastards in and leave them nowhere to go but in/down. With cryopods there's no need to open/demolish the pen to get a newly tamed giga back out.
I tamed a giga on official pvp with a couple of crossbows and a stego, it was close to my base on the pillars in the river north west. Ofcourse it and my base were whiped eventually.
first time i try on giga, was in a canyon , well at low torpor remain after a longgg time of shoothing, he disapear in a wall ............................................
I've been asking a few different players and wanted to ask you since you seem very knowledgeable. If you make a base at the highland tower, does it ruin the spawn rate for Gigas, I have a non dedicated server and have managed to tame one lower level female but I've never seen another one since. I'm rather new to this game so I'm not sure how everything works and I sincerely appreciate any thoughts or advice you can give me.
There is a distance around any built objects where dinosaurs can not spawn. If you want, use the Larkator app. It can go into your game file and find any gigas on the map.
Im so sad... yesterday i spent 1 1/2 hours shooting a level 500 giga with a 545% longneck with over 450 shocking tranqs and 100 tranq darts... long story short, yeah... didnt get him... hoping to try again today. im going to trap him this time. fyi this is on a pvp server
I got my first giga by accident clubbing it with a high level mantis weilding some ascendent clubs. My mantis was wearing a 300 armor saddle though so I'm sure it would go horribly with a regular saddle and clubs.
I used a journeyman longneck and regular tranq darts and just used a queztal no platform saddle. I just stood on the back of the queztal. I am level 77 btw
Did WC change the rage mechanic? I took on a wild 55 giga with my 290 bred giga and barely won. The wild basically spawned right on top of me near the snow globe on Extinction. I fully expected to my giga to rage, but it didn't. Then I fully expected to lose my giga, but I didn't.
I would reccomend having it pelted with thorny dragon needles for ages before it falls asleep, the torpor will keep counting up for AGES and stop the torpor drain the longer you hit it with thorns
If anyone wants to tame a giga here is my experience so you want to make metal dino gateways and make \_/ this shape then get a LARGE BEAR TRAP not the regular ones to put inside the trap like in the middle of it so the giga gets stuck obviously lure it into the trap and after that you gonna want to put your fourth dino metal gateway and place it behind the giga then there you go you have a trapped giga I recommend really good long neck with shocking tranq darts bc for me I had a 700 damage ascendent long neck and the giga was a lvl 140 and only took abt 30 shocking tranq darts to the head also when it was knocked out I used abt 3 to 4 stacks of bio toxin to keep it knocked out during the taming process also I used raw prime meat and tbh it did not take much time for me I think it's bc my taming speed was up and if your worrying abt if it's gonna break free of the trap before you can place the metal gateway behind it trust me its not your gonna have a couple seconds to place it behind the giga so make sure you place it in the right position MAKE IT COUNT anyways I hoped the helped. For anyone wondering the location it was on The Center at the half burnt island right near the volcano island.
Here's a trap for people who have a ton of metal make a 3x4 platform of metal foundations leaving the middle two empty and around it go 3 high with metal doorframes and then on whatever side your gonna lead the giga in from put the wooden ramps on that side with this trap you can easily with a fast enough mount aggro the giga and lure it into the trap
That's why Kings, or at least their Modern-day equivalent, spend so much time keeping the peasants passive, or at the very least angry at other Kings. Patriot is, after all, derived from the Greek word "patrios" which, loosely translated, means "of the father" or "better to trick the rabble into pissing out, rather than have them pissing in."
you realize a legion of rapters couldnt be called THE king of ark cause you havw multiples but yes it is debatable cause gigas arent all that good imo in pve or pvp just because in pve they serve the exact same purpose as a rex their just wayyyyyyy harder to get and breed and in pve the second someone on a flier sees you their dropping c4 and you ur base and all ur tames are dead
Actually I would recommend doing it with crossbow instead of rifle. Giga's torpor drains so fast that the lone reload time on the rifle makes it not as efficient. Crossbow reloads fast enough that you can get your next shot off before his torpor starts going down and gigas have more than enough HP that you aren't worried about killing it before it goes down.
Gigas have the potential to be stronger than titans.... if you level them up right. My op giga has like 890% melee, and fully Imprinted. It did like 3400-ish damage. But titans are still better for raiding. I guess. I’ve never tried to tame a titan.
For trying to beat arks toughest boss king titan do not use Rex's to beat the boss it's a extremely hard boss and if you use t-rexes they might all die instead use imprinted giganotosaurus or maks make sure you have level 356 or 236 gigas and then make sure the levels are in melee damage and of course MAKE SURE YOUR GIGA DOESN'T RAGE OR ELSE Y DEAD i hope this helps a lot goodbye
I recomend you do yous gigas for a alfa rex the rage meter a bite will make the rage meter go up but not completly if your careful so you do extra damage
Easiest way to tame a giga. three metal dinosaur gateways in a U shape (No gates) at least three large bear traps inside. Lead it in with an argy or pteranodon, get it stuck on the traps. Swing around to the open side and place the fourth gateway boxing it in. Tranq it, slap some exceptional kibble or mutton on the bastard, let it's torpor drop to 15%, pump 1000 narcotics into it. Go take a nap or watch some tv and come back to your new giga. Easier to tame than a lot of creatures in the game. Cheapest and easiest way to do it
Not to be mean but just crop your videos or time laps on them but I don’t do it on my videos always but it makes the video better you deserve more likes subs and views you’re the guy that got me to be good at ark and the one of few that inspired to make a UA-cam channel
so the trap with s+ look at syntacs trap one metal gate large trap another gate at 90 degree angle trap him put a gate behind him 3 gates cheap trap possible
Right. Knocking out extinct dinosaurs and fantasy creatures and making them your personal pets is all fine and dandy, but the dramatization of a Giganotosaurus totally kills the immersion.
Yeah but sometimes giga wins or full name gigantosaurus the only thing that is like a giga in ark is mapusaurus which is bigger then both giga and trex and bite force is slightly higher then a Rex
I just tangled with a giga for the first time! On my level 120 argent, I'd had very little trouble with alpha rexes, and wanted to see what these guys would be like.... wow! Finally something in this game that hits harder than my argie does! After about 10 min, I finally gave up for now, having never even gotten it bloody! (And it was only level 2!)
Wayne Rhead And they often clip into the mountainside so you don’t see em until you’re on top off em! Them beeing the same colour as the stone doesn’t help eighter!
I'm a pretty seasoned tamer, and I've tamed high levels from Baryonix up to Rex and beyond, but I don't know enough about a Giga to try for one solo. If they get enraged, do they have a timer or am I pretty much going to have to kill the Giga if it flips out? I've also heard they snap if they get too hungry. Can anyone suggest an enclosure size to keep my other tames safe if that happens?
About the HP thing with Giga, I know he mention it in this vid. But if it only gets 5-10 HP per level/point....that's....dissapointing. So they are not ment to be tanky at all? I mean I've got Rexes (I play on 0.5 diff), which I tamed at lvl 67 imprinted and breed/leveled have close to 30K HP.
you might not see this, but poison wyverns are better thn lightning for killing gigas, as you have more range so you can keep your distane to kill it, i prefer lightning wyverns for literally everything, but poison is just better at this, lol
Did this with around the same level and it took a hair more than 1/2 the time with a crossbow, at almost half your character level. The crossbow does better because it falls into the unconscious causing damage similar to the club and its category of weapons, as well as Tranq knockout ability, but is not top in either category just good in both. The long rifle does not, just has a little more tranq power overtime. Easy to tell cuz you are doing crazy low damage. Your long rifle is twice the quality my cross was as well. Comparing this to when I did the same hunt around the beginning of last year. Still do this today and it still holds true. Sometimes it is not the tranq at all that knocked my targets out. Very opinionated video and not based on the games backline formulas, but still somewhat entertaining.

just wanted to say I really enjoy your videos They are one of the rare things that make me laugh. oh and C should stand for Chaos 😂
first time i try on giga, was in a canyon , well at low torpor remain after a longgg time of shoothing, he disapear in a wall ............................................
@@LeoTheYuty I will try that, thank you very much. Is that an Xbox app?
@@azuresnow9919 i don't know, I got it on PC so it might, but I am unsure
@@LeoTheYuty I searched the app store but unfortunately Xbox has nothing like that
Im so sad... yesterday i spent 1 1/2 hours shooting a level 500 giga with a 545% longneck with over 450 shocking tranqs and 100 tranq darts... long story short, yeah... didnt get him... hoping to try again today. im going to trap him this time. fyi this is on a pvp server
also was riding a level 435 griffin so that was really good, still didnt bring him down tho. wish me luck!
also um yesterday i killed a 200 giga with my 435 griffin on lost island. it took like 18 seconds :/
It looks like you could fit wooden ramps on the inside. Could you make a disposable on the inside so it doesn't waste metal?
After its tamed obvi...
I
I got my first giga by accident clubbing it with a high level mantis weilding some ascendent clubs.
I tamed mine with narco berries only used around 200 narcotic and berries for the rest gathered them with a rhino but a trike works fine
you should do one about crystal wyverns and breeding them and raising them.
Every giga I've ever tamed I've just used a super high damage crossbow because its alot cheaper
Got my first giga today thanks to phoo!! Low level 14 but still
The thing with the higher torpor with cross bow you could also just give it narco
according to the mei yin li story (the fan one based on the explorer notes not strictly follows) she does it with a bow and tranq arrows
I found my ascendant crossbow with tranq arrows takes 2 headshots to knock a quetzal but my ascendant longneck takes like 30
If my giga smells like cherries, am I doing it right?
Here's a trap for people who have a ton of metal make a 3x4 platform of metal foundations leaving the middle two empty and around it go 3 high with metal doorframes and then on whatever side your gonna lead the giga in from put the wooden ramps on that side with this trap you can easily with a fast enough mount aggro the giga and lure it into the trap
the king of ark? thats debatable, i have a legion of raptors that shreds wild gigas in 3 seconds
Sauron Ikov ok
That's why Kings, or at least their Modern-day equivalent, spend so much time keeping the peasants passive, or at the very least angry at other Kings.
Patriot is, after all, derived from the Greek word "patrios" which, loosely translated, means "of the father" or "better to trick the rabble into pissing out, rather than have them pissing in."
you realize a legion of rapters couldnt be called THE king of ark cause you havw multiples but yes it is debatable cause gigas arent all that good imo in pve or pvp just because in pve they serve the exact same purpose as a rex their just wayyyyyyy harder to get and breed and in pve the second someone on a flier sees you their dropping c4 and you ur base and all ur tames are dead
tb I think they should give the giga a TLC make it look more scarier and give it new abilities
It should have a bleed effect 100% and be able to grab smaller dinos in it's mouth and like thrash them or something
Can you do it with a ascendant crossbow?
Actually I would recommend doing it with crossbow instead of rifle. Giga's torpor drains so fast that the lone reload time on the rifle makes it not as efficient. Crossbow reloads fast enough that you can get your next shot off before his torpor starts going down and gigas have more than enough HP that you aren't worried about killing it before it goes down.
Yeah you could do it with a club if you really wanted to
Gigas have the potential to be stronger than titans.... if you level them up right.
My op giga has like 890% melee, and fully Imprinted. It did like 3400-ish damage.
But titans are still better for raiding. I guess. I’ve never tried to tame a titan.
I have seen two Giga's in two years playing Ark vs zero Skylord
You can take it in primitive plus which means you will use crossbows
me and my buddy did it with 100% damage crossbows and tranq arrows, only took 30ish min.
me and my friends knocked out a 180 with tranq arrows from crossbows and it took us 2 hours and a lot of stress
For trying to beat arks toughest boss king titan
do not use Rex's to beat the boss it's a extremely hard boss and if you use t-rexes they might all die instead use imprinted giganotosaurus or maks make sure you have level 356 or 236 gigas and then make sure the levels are in melee damage and of course MAKE SURE YOUR GIGA DOESN'T
RAGE OR ELSE Y DEAD i hope this helps a lot goodbye
Tamed my first giga today. It was an experience 😂
Great video. I was hoping to get a few tips on getting giga hearts
Kill them.
Smack it with high stamina and melee argy or griffin if on ragnarok.
Depending on the lvl you can use good imprinted rexes. But I wouldn't do that on any higher than 30 or 40
Trap it. Kill it by using an rocket launcher instead of a longneck rifle.
My favourite way of killing Gigas is get some of my buddies together all get on Argys and attack and run over and over again until it dies
I recomend you do yous gigas for a alfa rex the rage meter a bite will make the rage meter go up but not completly if your careful so you do extra damage
They should add a feature to cycle plasma shots and tranq darts on tek saddles.
When I tamed my first gigga I ran out of tranq darts and on a last prayer I fired slingshots at it and it fucken worked and I got it
Easiest way to tame a giga. three metal dinosaur gateways in a U shape (No gates) at least three large bear traps inside.
Bro at 8:45 in ur on ragnarok but where’s that big open location ur at it looks like an amazing spot to build
Thanks for the help man thanks to you I solo tamed a 110 gig 😤😤😤
Nice job bro I can't even tame a level one.
If ARK was more realistic the Giga wouldn't have been stronger than a T. Rex.
Right. Knocking out extinct dinosaurs and fantasy creatures and making them your personal pets is all fine and dandy, but the dramatization of a Giganotosaurus totally kills the immersion.
@@Pugnut21 exactly
Yeah but sometimes giga wins or full name gigantosaurus the only thing that is like a giga in ark is mapusaurus which is bigger then both giga and trex and bite force is slightly higher then a Rex
@@chickensgobblegobble681 actually the biggest theropods was live on earth was Rex and spino spino giga only had a bigger skull than everything else
Boo rex fan boy
Booooo
I just tangled with a giga for the first time! On my level 120 argent, I'd had very little trouble with alpha rexes, and wanted to see what these guys would be like.... wow! Finally something in this game that hits harder than my argie does! After about 10 min, I finally gave up for now, having never even gotten it bloody! (And it was only level 2!)
I have never even seen one in the wild on the island map let alone tamed one on any map.
The 2 mountains next to metal mountain always get gigas on the island
Wayne Rhead And they often clip into the mountainside so you don’t see em until you’re on top off em! Them beeing the same colour as the stone doesn’t help eighter!
I'm a pretty seasoned tamer, and I've tamed high levels from Baryonix up to Rex and beyond, but I don't know enough about a Giga to try for one solo. If they get enraged, do they have a timer or am I pretty much going to have to kill the Giga if it flips out? I've also heard they snap if they get too hungry. Can anyone suggest an enclosure size to keep my other tames safe if that happens?
Giga: I am the king of ark
Shadowmane: Are you sure about that?
About the HP thing with Giga, I know he mention it in this vid. But if it only gets 5-10 HP per level/point....that's....dissapointing. So they are not ment to be tanky at all? I mean I've got Rexes (I play on 0.5 diff), which I tamed at lvl 67 imprinted and breed/leveled have close to 30K HP.
I used an ascendant crossbow and that works I think that could be an option
I did it with a crossbow and tranq arrow but my crossbow was master craft and I kept it asleep with biotoxin because biotoxin does more torpor
Highly enjoying the basics videos
Same
Same
My first giga was with raw meet and it was times 1
Just tamed mine using Behemoth Gate
gonna tame lvl 260 giga...is it good to breed it with lvl 130 giga?
Yeah, it's good, always breed gigas lol. After you breed them start breeding their children with a giga with higher level lol
you might not see this, but poison wyverns are better thn lightning for killing gigas, as you have more range so you can keep your distane to kill it, i prefer lightning wyverns for literally everything, but poison is just better at this, lol
i love your enthusiasm. i hate it when people keep saying 'he' to a girl tho :P watch out or shell eat you if you say it too often!
I thought this would be about the dodo but ok
Yes
The dodo is no king... the dodo is the god.
Im quite biased on gigas, their great for war but that rage meter.....it scares me
Did this with around the same level and it took a hair more than 1/2 the time with a crossbow, at almost half your character level.
Worst comment under a UA-cam video yet
You could just cryopod giga to get it out of the second trap
You still have to break a gate to get another one in there.
I did this with crossbow, tranq arrows, narcotics and raw meat. It took me like 2 hours but it was fine.
Abcs
Ark Basic Collage....cause its as helpfull for real life as one. Take that how you will
When a giga goes into rage mode, can he/she destroy metal and above or will it still be only thatch, wood and stone?
It cant destroy metal
(I think)
