This past Sunday, the Tibetan Association of Santa Fe community along with all Tibetan communities throughout the world held their 65th Annual Commemoration to Free Tibet from the Chinese Peoples Republic (PRC) illegal occupation of the Tibetan Plateau its people and resources.
The occupation has been a brutal one exploiting Tibet’s rich mineral resources, water , and Geopolitical control of the roof of the world, at the same time attempting to destroy the indigenous culture, language and wisdom associated with Tibetan People.
I first attended the my first March 10th commemoration 44 years ago in NYC when the Tibetan population consisted of approximately 50 people.
The issues have changed very little since then except for the population growth and a new generation of Tibetan Americans that are still dedicated toward a Free Tibet

    **********************************************
On March 10th 1959 the Chinese army march into Lhasa, the Capital of Tibet as an occupying force to depose the Dalai Lama and proclaim domain over all of Tibet’s Resources, Land and Minerals and ban the practice of Buddhism and Cultural activities, to expand the colonial ambitions of the Chinese Central Government known as the (PRC).
They subjugated 6 million Tibetans into a sub-class humans, banned their practice of religion, burned over 6,000 monasteries and took control of the lands, Water, and Minerals for exploitation.
The Tibetan language was banned from education and instituted massive population transfers to make the Tibetan Peoples a minority in their own country.
If that sounds familiar, It follows the colonial expansion and subjugation of Indian lands and Peoples by the government of the USA.
Fortunately, the Dalai Lama and approximately 100,000 Tibetans escaped the Chinese Onslaught and sought refuge in the country of Indian and established a Tibetan Government in Exiled which exist today with a democratically elected President (Sikyong ) and a representative Congress (Kashag) that governs over the entire Tibetan population and Tibetan Communities throughout the world.
March 10th has become a Tibetan Day of Commemoration of the Uprising and resistance of the Tibetan People against the Chinese Occupation.
Tibetan Communities throughout the world demonstrate their support for a free Tibet
