As a Hong Konger, I traveled to Russia in 2019, and last week I was finally able to return to this country, Russia. I took the night train from Moscow to Petersburg. I spent a week in this country. I really like the people and things here, and I love the Georgian food even more. I even learned Russian for this. Although it may take a lifetime, it is worth it. I hope to settle in this country in the future. .

Moscow is a show city, this is all propaganda both what the Russians are doing and the vlogger. If Russians where good people they would stop the war. Russian reality is in Ukraine in trenches and the exploding drones flying overhead.
When I was in school, back in the 50's and 60's, what we were taught about Russia was nothing but lies. Actual truthful information was hidden from us. Lord willing, I hope to be able to visit such a beautiful country and its good people.
Just look at the etiquette of metro escalator. Everyone standing packed to the right by default to let people who want to walk pass without struggling. This is so underappreciated!
And, unlike London, people in Moscow never congregate at the doors in carriages, they spread evenly. This is the most infuriating feature in London for me.

The monument where there are men and women is the “Worker and Collective Farm Woman” monument. They raise the hammer and sickle above their heads. The monument was intended for the USSR pavilion at the international exhibition in Paris in 1937, and then was installed in Moscow. Symbolizes the people working in the factory and in the fields, who were the dominant class in the USSR.

There are two types of dumplings in Russia: 1) Pelmeni - these are dumplings with meat, sometimes fish AND 2) Vareniki - dumplings with anything but meat (potatoes, cottage cheese, sour cherry, apples). No Italian ravioli in Russian cuisine (dumplings with cheese and spinach) :-))
No. Principal difference between pelmeni and vareniki is that vareniki have prepared toping inside and you should just heat them before eat while pelmeni always have fresh topings and you should cook them before it. Both can have meat or sweet topings but it will be jam for vareniki and fresh fruits for pelmeni. Besides there are many variations from small nations like buuzy, manty, hinkali, etc.

from one American who has frequently visited Russia- my wife is a Russian citizen I met 6 years ago during college. through our dating, engagement, and marriage I've visited Russia approximately 8 times. I've been to the cities of St. Pete, Moscow, Krasnoyarsk, Tobolsk, and Yekaterinburg, and many smaller cities I didn't catch the name of or can't remember as I'm not a fluent Russian speaker. The main difference in our societies I have heard is the metaphor that Russia is a coconut culture, meaning people have a rough and stoic exterior and don't speak to people that are strangers, however once you get to know someone they are incredibly kind and welcoming. This is very much true, and as some of my best friends are Russian, as well as my in-laws. Russia is clean, incredibly affordable for a Westerner, and safe. I've never been anywhere in the US with the high quality of life that Russia has even in Siberia or smaller cities. Gas is incredibly cheap, apartments and property are laughably affordable, and food they practically give away for free, I even bought a 5g unlimited sim for 10 dollars a month when I lived there for a month. There are zero homeless people, as they are given proper mental services, drug rehabilitation, or housing. Public transportation is immaculate, infrastructure is top tier, and electricity is practically free for your home/apartment due to the cheap energy costs. Regarding physical benefits, Russia has the US and the West beat without a contest. My wife is a green card holder, with a job with a high salary for Western standards, so being a Russian citizen isn't obligated to pay the same federal taxes as an American, meaning we stash almost all of our savings in Russia for next to nothing in taxes. Sadly Russia doesn't possess the same rights, and freedoms that we enjoy in the West, which I can honestly say is really the only downside/preventing us from moving there full-time, as my wife is pretty liberal by Russian standards and would receive persecution if she ever publicly stated her views. My main point in writing this comment is that I encourage anyone to go and visit Russia, they love foreigners there and people gush over talking to Americans, or speaking English in general. Very cool culture, history, and people. Every country has its problems but in this case, I would say that a lot of it tends to be fake. take care, and stay safe out there travelers.
I agree with most of your comments based on my experience there. The point about the rights and freedoms makes me think, though. Had a chat with a friend recently about this and he told me, by way of an example, that he can stand, scantily clad, in front of the House of Parliament with a rude placard w/o any serious repercussions for his life or freedom. That, perhaps, is true, although he may get arrested for an indecent exposure in public. Then I challenged him to stand quietly, fully dressed, respectfully holding a placard saying, for the sake of argument, that there are only two genders and women can't have you know what... He went very quiet, so our freedom of speech is definitely not absolute these days. As for the rights - I'm due to exercise my right to vote the day after tomorrow. There is not a single party I would want to back up this time. So, technically I have a right to vote and a choice but in reality it is a choice between a rock and a hardplace. It's even worse in the US. Curious what you think about this.

Тут конечно есть наценка за заведение и нахождение в центре столицы, но реалистично говоря, такой размер оливье обычно стоит 150-200 р. в обычной забегаловке, а блюдо стоило бы рубликов 300-400. from one American who has frequently visited Russia-
my wife is a Russian citizen I met 6 years ago during college. through our dating, engagement, and marriage I've visited Russia approximately 8 times.
@@Tina-gm4ufbut freedom of speech is less in russia than the us, indeoendent media is banned. There is mass censorship to dissent snd criticisms.
