- Stephen Brawer, BRIX Sweden Chairman and Distinguished Research Fellow at the Guangdong Institute for International Strategies, shares his impressions and insights on his recent visit to Xizang, also known as Tibet.
I visited Xizang in 2014 with my Swiss husband, his sister and brother in law. The experience was so exceptional and positive, everywhere we went, we could see that the Tibetan culture and language and customs were very well preserved and respected. Schools taught both Tibetan language and Putonghua, the official language in China.
amazing, 10 years ago u have been there is very advanced, at that time still not very developed and you are brave to go there exploring.
very informative
Thank you for going to Tibet to see for yourself! 👍
Xizhang (Tibet) received around 55 million visitors a year, the modern infrastructure with transportation, hotels and hospitality industry make Tibet a beautiful place to visit.
Up at the highest place on earth, you still can enjoy your seafood platter at reasonable price, its amazing.
Thank you for sharing the truth.
A gorgeous place with colorful culture and friendly people 👍👍👍
Thank you for an inspiring discussion! Big motivation to visit Xizang / Tibet!
Informative, frank and honest of Tibet's visit by Stephen Brawer. His visit to Tibet is encouragingly good and educational.
cant wait to watch your videos of your visit to Xizang,
You are in it my man
Thank you for sharing very excellent experience in Tibet.
So great seeing you again Stephen & Gustaf !! I really enjoyed your frank and open impressions about the trip
Go vist the reservation concentrayion camps of native americsns in canada and usa
That will be interesting
They are not camps over there. They are prisons and the inhabitants are prisoners. That's what they called them. Lock them up is their country's motto.
I have been to some of the Indian reservations in Arizona and New Mexico. They were not the most uplifting places I have been and actually, a bit depressing where the Indians do not live in what one would call, "laps of luxury".

I’d love to visit one day but am worried about altitude sickness.
"Altitude sickness" is caused by a lack of oxygen at high altitudes. They (the Chinese authorities in their travel bureaus) do provide oxygen tanks for visitors going up there (especially if you are traveling up to Tibet by train) and you can keep using them until you become acclimatized to the high altitude lower level of oxygen. You will only have problems if you don't use the tanks and try to go "cold turkey" which is not advisable for anyone from low level regions.
However, if you have "acrophobia" which is a fear of heights rather than "altitude sickness", then the only advise would be, "don't look down".
Thanks
In fact, the present government of china eliminated the slavery system that had lasted before the PCR took over Tibet. Any wonder that most Tibetans got better lives and support the government. Da Lai Lama wanted to maintain the slavery system.
The economy of Tibet has grown tremendously, from less than USD 80 billion in 2012 to over USD 213 billion in 2022. Its economy is almost as large as Kazakhstan's, the largest country in Central Asia.
Given the larger population of Kazakhstan (19 million) to 3.6 million in Tibet, and Tibet is a province of China, Tibet is doing much better than a country like Kazakhstan.
The best is to visit China directly, explore ourselves, many people said they know China very much based on the mainstream media, but they have never been to China before, it is ridiculous they said they know a lot of China.
Good afternoon ♥️🇸🇪🇳🇵🇨🇳🇷🇺🦾😇👋
Tibetans are Chinese as well !
Jolly! Jolly! The worm is turning.
