Deafheaven also bought a drab majesty album. Then a few months later I saw Drab Majesty open up for Deafheaven in S.F. one of the best shows I've ever been to.
I really enjoyed both this and the Deafheaven episode. Great picks from both, some stuff I've heard of, and some cool sounding stuff I'm going to definitely check out. I really liked that he picked up a Dino jr. record, the last Deafheaven record definitely forayed into that 90's grunge/noise rock sound. If nu-metal can make a comeback, then why can't 90s noise stuff?
Amazing how this video alone revealed much more about Neige and Alcest's sound than most of his interviews. He was able to speak his mind without holding back about things he loves and completely fleshed out his taste in all types of music, videogames and movies with a few tasteful picks. This was the best!
Man I’m Hispanic in East la the middle of the hood. The belly of the beast. I don’t know how I got into them and still have yet to meet anyone who knows of them or likes them. Makes me feel lonely sometimes haha.
@@julienmoreau2528 yeah love that album and the artwork is beautiful, frusciante was my entry into the mellower side of music and that album was my first of his!
He seems like such a terrific dude. Of all the "What's In My Bag" episodes, I loved almost everything he picked the most. I feel like we have the exact same taste.
Bumped into Neige the other day in the gundam section at a hobby/game shop called Surugaya in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Would love to see his 'what's in my bag' from that day, but didn't want to disturb him too much. Such a nice guy.
That's crazy! I saw Alcest live yesterday and I don't think they did a meet & greet or anything but at least I got a "love you too" when I yelled that I love him lol
P33 interesting. Musically they are quite different. Alcest uses mostly Natural minor and Dorian modes in their songs, while Opeth is all over the place but generally harmonic minor, diminished, etc. So generally the point I meant is that opeth is more dissonant and dark, alcest is significantly more melodic and ambient
Script of the Bridge. Been waiting for someone to pick up this stone cold classic. Was blessed enough to see the Chameleons play this record live a couple of months ago.
Fun fact: The Dead Can Dance song featured at the start, 'Dawn of the Iconoclast', is sampled at the beginning of Future Sound of London's iconic dance track, 'Papua New Guinea'. And is also used in Gladiator.
I was waiting to see a band/artist mention them and it finally happened. They are really underrated. They should be up there with the Cure or Joy Division.
He seems like a down-to-earth guy who has great taste in music that is easily recognizable, and we all can relate to; unlike other artists in this series who show super obscure picks that very few people know about.
Original? It's only the biggest alt/indie/music nerd bands of the 90s and 00s, and a few well-known contemporaries connected to the band. What list by a 30-something pop music geek doesn't include Massive Attack, Dead Can Dance, Slowdive, Dinosaur Jr., Björk and at least some of the big crescendowanker post-rock bands? All it's missing is some Radiohead, My Bloody Valentine, GY!BE, and Have A Nice Life, ffs. I'm not knocking on the list, I found it very high quality but not exactly original or surprising. There was absolutely nothing (apart from the soundtracks) I wasn't already familiar with (except with the Chameleons only by name). And I am NOT a huge Alcest fan or particularly diehard about this type of music specifically.
You really know you are getting old when the guest casually refers to a Massive Attack LP as being a classic for many many years and I remember buying it when it first came out like it was only yesterday....
The Chameleons, Alien Soundtrack, Dead Can Dance, Massive Attack, Slowdrive AND the Shadow of the Colossus OST. Damn, this boi has my exact music taste. Alcest is baller but for me Amesoeurs is where it is at.
His reason for liking slowdrive is exact why I love alcest, if you take away all the effects and just play acoustic guitar unplugged you still have absolutely amazing music
So deafheaven bought an alcest album and then alcest bought a deafhaven album. The circle of life
Deafheaven also bought a drab majesty album. Then a few months later I saw Drab Majesty open up for Deafheaven in S.F. one of the best shows I've ever been to.

Neige listens exactly what I would imagine Neige would listen.
I love how he talks.
He sounds really enthusiastic and bored at the same time
Tis awesome
🤣🤣
He doesn't sound bored at all since music is his passion. it's called "calm" and "chill".
I think I talk like that too. 🤔 And I have the same impression from people. 😖
It’s because he’s French
Typical frenchman! 😁
@Witchcraft Destroys Minds & Reaps Souls 😁👍

I could get lost listening to Lisa sing.

ASMR = Alcest Shows Music Records
Madlad.
INDEED
Neige should really be a music reviewer, his descriptions are really on point. Alcest is my favorite band, much respect!
Never heard of Alcest before but this guy has some great taste in music and I am definitely going to check his stuff out now.
Welcome to the beginning of a beautiful journey.
Start with the first album :)
Yes he has, its amazing, versatile
Alcest is criminally under rated
Instantly one of the best What's In My Bag videos! Amazing choices as well.
Big agree on that one! Also Vein is fucking sick.
Yeah, it was a very interesting episode. Nice vein pfp, that band kicks ass!
gotta show my love for Vein as well - an Amazing debut, for sure.
Oh, and this episode was cool as well - Slowdive FTW.
Damn, so glad that The Chameleons are getting a shout-out.
Excellent picks. He seems like a really cool dude.
Yeah! Love Niege & Alcest! Definitely a very cool cat!
Best picks of What's In My Bag. Because: Slowdive, Emma Ruth Rundle, Grimes, Dead Can Dance and Massive Attack are too damn awesome.
agreed, best I've seen while scouring these
I'm straight and I still have a huge crush on Neige
Who doesn't?
Feels like something better than a crush 😉
Understandable.
lol 😂
It's comforting to know that it's not only me 🤣
Shadow Of The Colossus has for me one of the most amazing soundtracks ever, and that includes movies. You will not regret, Neige.
My favourite video game soundtrack (and video game) of all time. It's a shame that it isn't on Spotify.
Name of song that appaers in this video?
@@IsrraSkoll the first one is Monstrous People and the second one Opened Path
I wonder if he heard the last guardian soundtrack, it's amazing as well.

What a “had to be there” moment.
I saw Alcest open for Opeth at the roundhouse in london. I had never heard them before and hooooly shit they were awesome. Completely blew away Opeth.
Todd Cantley wow I'm surprised they opened for Opeth. They're so completely different

Script of the Bridge. Been waiting for someone to pick up this stone cold classic. Was blessed enough to see the Chameleons play this record live a couple of months ago.
Explosions in the Sky and Bjork. Love it!
Second skin! Totally agree, chameleons are totally underrated and amazing!
Listen the Tony Fletcher EP by them !!!
I wouldn't expect any less from the founder of Alcest. Excellent taste in music.
That was a lesson in good taste and consistency.
Excellent choices from Neige. He had me at Dead Can Dance, The Chameleons and Slowdive.
The Grimes pick surprised me. Her early albums like Geidi Primes, Halfaxa, and Darkbloom are pure lo-fi artistic genius.
Just got their new album on vinyl
yesterday it’s so beautiful ❤
Seeing that neige is a fan of the chameleons just makes me really happy
Yes! The Chameleons! more people should listen to this underrated post punk band

So glad he picked up Dead can Dance!
Great selections... Intelligent, cool musician.
The Chameleons!! So cool he picked that. Script of the Bridge is incredible!

He picked up Massive Attack and Grimes? And even likes New Order? I thought I couldn't like Alcest and this guy more but here I am
It'd be pretty obvious he likes New Order, Amesoeurs's EP was dedicated to Ian Curtis of Joy Division.
Already loved Alcest but the moment they mentioned The Chameleons I lost my mind, both incredible.
Saw Alcest playing in Italy in 2010. It's great to see Neige here, and with such amazing choices in records!

saw them play in LA around the same time they recorded this last year ,, great show
Finally, someone recognized the genius of The Chameleon UK.

That was my favourite What's In My Bag so far. Neige has a brilliant music, movie and video game taste. 10/10 would hang.
He likes so many bands that I like, I love this man's taste. Especially Slowdrive.

And then that same year comes out Spiritual Instinct, crazy how it sounds like a mix of the anime songs and a mix of the other artists. Mindblowing!
