  • There are some simple and strange habits from Pro Street Photographers like Garry Winogrand, Henri Cartier-Bresson or Alex Webb that can improve your Street Photography short term and long term. My favorite is No.5 (sorry to all viewers who find it a bit too philosophical, but it helped me personally a lot)...What are the habits that helped you in your Photography?
I am Oliver, a Street Photographer from Germany. I´ve been shooting Street Photography for nearly 20 years now. In 2016 i started to teach Street Photography workshops. I had solo and group exhitibions in Germany, Austria, Hungary and Italy, published my first Street Photography book "Immerse light, embrace shadows" last year and was juror for international photo contests. This channel is for all Street Photography beginners and freaks - if you have any requests for future videos, please leave a comment - very curious about your opinion. I am still a beginner in this UA-cam thing - and please forgive me my bad English...

You are so right about always carrying your camera whenever you go out. I'm sure every street photographer knows that awful feeling that comes with seeing a fantastic street shot... when you've forgotten to bring your camera with you... and that amazing (un-captured) image is seared into your memory for months afterwards :(
I really enjoy your videos. Thanks for taking the time to make them.

Hi Oliver. You make many good points and add your own touch to some of the common ones. The stock images didn't add any value for me. I often make constructive comments on Instagram and have had positive experiences because of it. They have always been well received. Unfortunately, I only get feedback from my wife and kids. Oh, well.

Hi Frank! Thank you for your feedback! Maybe you are right with the stock videos...Yes, it's really rather uncommon to receive longer feedback on Instagram and i am sure this will be rewarded to your favor sooner or later...i am very familiar with family critique...my wife is the hardest critique i know...if she doesn't hate something i know it must be really good😁😬😀

Hahahaha... you made the faux-grumpy girl lose her composure - i'm not surprised.🙃 Thanks for another quirky and stimulating chat. The 'always carry a camera' thing is interesting (i do this), but my experience in other (non-photo) realms has led me to swing it on my wrist - not stash it in a pocket or bag. The reason for this is to engender a constant physical awareness of the dangly thing which you then connect to a practice of 'intentional looking' within the environment. It's easy to 'see' in different ways - for the visual stimuli to be weighted differently depending on what you are engaged with: think of the different visual experience of driving a car (properly) and being a passenger in a car. In the former your attention is drawn to what matters in the environment, and part of this concentration is a result of the physical aspects of driving. Ok... i explain it badly, but it's a neurological thing. The writer - 'pen in hand', or in a 'particular chair' experiences similar physical feedback that serves to enhance and maintain concentration. Just a thought.... Have a great day! Cheers.

I'm loathe to critize the work of others. One wrong comment at an inappropriate time could crush a person's enthusiasm for image making. Better still is the use of positive reinforcement, emphasizing that aspect of an image that makes a photo memorable.
