- Pokemon X and Y brought a brand new type into the mix... but can the Fairy type prove itself in the ultimate challenge!? Let's find out!
We've done some hard Pokemon challenges in the past, but usually they were a solo Pokemon challenge run. What if we still did a really difficult challenge... but with a full team using hardcore nuzlocke rules, and with only one type? Today we find out: can I beat a Pokemon Y Hardcore Nuzlocke with only Fairy types? No items and no overleveling!

Monotype Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
(1) If a Pokémon faints, it must be permanently boxed or released.
(2) Only the first type-specific Pokémon encountered in each Route/Area can be caught.
(3) No Legendaries/Mythicals, duplicates, or same-evolution-line Pokémon can be caught or used. If a duplicate is encountered, the next unique type-specific Pokémon encounter can be caught.
(4) Additional Pokémon may be caught for the purpose of HM use, but these may not be used in battle at any time during the run.
(5) No Items can be used in battle (Held Items are allowed).
(6) Party Pokémon levels are limited to the highest level Pokémon of the next Gym Leader or Elite 4 Member. So long as your Pokémon are at or below the level cap when the Gym Leader/Elite 4 Member battle starts, they can level up mid-battle.
(7) "Set" Battle Mode must be used at all times.
(8) No connecting with other games for the purposes of importing Pokémon, Items, etc.

Here we go, the final type we have NEVER used before in a Hardcore Nuzlocke! Hope you guys have been enjoying this series so far, and don't forget to double-check that you've clicked Subscribe - we're getting close to our 200k goal!
Lets go
I had been asking for fairy type since I started following and I am so excited to see you use it!
You just listen to me now and i commented you this like 8 months ago
Have u given thought bout running a hardcore nuzlocke in Pokémon ultra sun using only Alolan Pokémon
can u do a black 2 white 2 with only water pokemon
This run was so easy, Silph didn't have to say "man, oh man!"
That’s Pokémon X and Y for you, they are some of the easiest in the series... sadly no “cool trainer Jennifer rage” this time 😅
Gotta have an obligatory "man oh man" and "ho-lee" otherwise it wouldn't be a silph video 😉
@@adolfolerito6744 b@!vv bbm. ! B. ?! Vnvl! B m. ! Mb ! !’b my birthday bo
I mean TBF...he DID get some GREAT luck in battle. Two of his Pokemon should have died at least.
"Not good"
It's not often you see fairy challenges. Heck, you don't often see x and y challenges. Can't wait to see what happens
He wins instantly, because x and y are baby easy. I’m pretty sure that every gym leader has only like 3 pokemon max and none of them have 4 moves on their pokemon
@@samdilophosaur9787 and thats why people like you prefer just suffering in front of terrifying trainers that can just end ur carreer as a trainer without sometimes just trying to enjoy the gameplay
I guarantee this would have more deaths if it wasZ version.
Xy sucks
@@carlapromutico8564 bruh I’m not one to enjoy extreme challenges, but x and y are just too easy. You can’t tell me that the gameplay is more enjoyable when they basically hand you every win. I never felt like I was doing good because I just clicked buttons and deleted the pokemon across from me
20:30 only weakness is rock and ice which we don’t have
Carbink: am I a joke to you
FR
7:25 Azumarill is such a good pokemon. It has nice typing, great abilities, useful attacks, decent stats, and it's easy to train and evolves early. When I played Emerald as a teen I often just caught a random Marill before Petalburg Forest, which would then wreck not only the first gym, but the entire Magma Hideout later in the game too, as you can go in with a lvl 18 azumarill and exit with a lvl 30+ azumarill, as it easily wrecks all wild encounters and most trainers.
It's one of these Pokemon that are just nice in every way.
Neutral to steel, water resist it.
emerald is crap, who tf has a champion in a format of a gym leader? pathetic.
@@timhiltz6323 The only mon that is water steal is empoleon which isn’t in this game as far as I know. If you run nelly drum 3 attacks being water fairy ice then the only resists are water poison types and empoleon, if you run choice band 4 attacks and add fighting it’s just water poisons. Being unable to hit only one or 2 specific typings is incredibly impressive
I agree! I love how it can tank attacks. I didn't realize how poor her attack stat was so she benefits immensely from a Naught nature/Huge Power ability.
Also a pokemon that changes gender
To those who don't get the ear biting reference at 3:42, in 1997 in a fight referred to now as "The Bite Fight" Mike Tyson fought against Evander Holyfield for the title of WBA Heavyweight Champion, during the fight, Mike Tyson at one point bit Holyfield's ear taking a chunk out, which ended up with him getting a disqualification and a suspension from boxing
Thanks I had no clue what that was about.
I ALWAYS played attack heavy, never having special moves and never really using too many held items to boost my specials but after watching a ton of your Nuzlockes, I realize I wasted so much potential in all of my plays 😭 also, I didn’t realize I got here in the first half hour!! Great video Silph!!!
I always have 3 special attackers 2 physical attackers and one who is a tank always using the best items for them and perfect evs and natures
I feel that. Since I was a kid, I've only used attacking moves and sometimes status moves. Never set up. I'm trying to get better at it but it's a bad habit 😅
@@goldberserk7425 which is physical
i’m the exact opposite, I love my special attackers and my team build is usually 5 special attackers and 1 physical attacker to cover any of the weakness’ my team has. but for BDSP I tried doing 3 special and 3 physical and I didn’t realize how good physical attacks can be!
@@Chronal-Rend lmao my phone hates me i typed 2 physical and physical was turned 2 special bruh
THE WAY I LEAPT UP OUT OF BED, MADE BREAKFAST AND TURNED THIS VIDEO ON AT THE SIGHT OF THE NOTIFCATION.. Simply put, Silph your one of my favorite UA-camrs, keep up the good work and can't wait for more!
Only took you 9 minutes too
The best way to enjoy breakfast
(Lunch for me right now)
*confused European noises
Liar
I really can't take someone seriously when they have both a MHA profile pic AND make a ridiculously false comment which looks like it's just for likes.
Congrats for the death-less hardcore nuzlocke!!
sad to see the ralts having brave nature
if it was a fighting run, brave would be aight for gallade
Gallade is male only though… Silph’s Ralts ended up being female eliminating Gallade from consideration.
Fairy type seems pretty stacked for a monotype nuzlocke. I feel like this would be an easier run than your others.
excluding Gen 8 which is basically free with every type, Fairy in X/Y is definitely one of the easiest ones if not the easiest given how many ancounters you get, how good they are and how many coverage moves they get, how easy the games are in general and how broken the type is and also you face very few Steel and Poison mons/moves during the main story
Diamond / Pearl Fire types only lol
@@rajkanishu I feel like the hardest type to clear Gen 8 with is rock types, if you're playing Sword that is. Maybe grass types in Shield? I've found some monotype challenges kinda challenging in Gen 8 for some reason
@@g0ldenrayz it's still 10 times easier than anything in any other game tho, there's simply too many encounters
@@rajkanishu the number of encounter doesn't make the game easier, I think it's all about coverage... I've been doing my first hardcore monotype nuzlocke on X and the fire type has something like 16 encounters but a low coverage when you get to fight really effective types against fire types
Player: *exists*
Fletchling: "So you chose death".
it has been less than 20 minutes and there is already a bot here.
bruh.
@@itsmetater I know right
Congrats on the deathless run dude! Opal would stand in awe of the pink in this run.
I saw the Nosepass horde and just said “magnet pull” out loud as I got a good chuckle in at your agony lol
Gen 6 was my very first introduction to pokemon entirely and fairy types have always been my favorite since, so this was really cool and generally impressive to watch
Yes, so excited! Let's see what the pixie power can pull off
This is amazing, congrats on the achievement at the end and you had amazing luck with the Azurill catch with the nature and the ability, that was a definite sign of good things to come.
Fairy types are great! I tried a mono type with them in both XY and USUM and so many mons were such monsters! Carbink is an MVP in here
Shauna: “Wow! The Pokémon went INSIDE the Poké Ball?!”
Serena: “Shauna… What do you think your Froakie is inside of right now?”
GEEEETTTT DUNKED ON!
take that shauna!
Damn somebody needs a sh*t tons of burn heals lol
Bro it's linhardt from the hit video game Fire Emblem: Three Houses !!!
I miss that bit of dialogue every time lol. Given how dialogue heavy Alola is in the beginning I just scroll straight thru without even bothering to see what is said, but yeah, Serena is absolutely right.
@@ismellupdog I was confused by what you said until I looked at the pfp
30:25 fun fact: "Sepultura" means tombstone in portuguese
The sped up kirlia animation is hilarious, hips don’t lie looking dance xD
37:30 that OST always make me cry nowadays. I love XY anime.
I feel like the worst part about any Ice type gym are the stupid puzzles.
Silphs freaking commentary right from the beginning with the Holyfield reference and Viola’s sister
That covers all the types. Now we just need Silph to do run in every region, and the only one left is the Alola Region. Let's hope it happens soon.
Congrats on finally getting your 1st deathless monotype run! Been silently rooting for you ever since I found this channel many, many months ago!
Jumpluff is also one of my favorite not only in appearance but in battle too!
This is the first Pokemon Y video gameplay I will ever watch since Im not familiar with it. But because there will be Sylveon in the team and was played by Silph. I will watch this anyway :D
Awesome run SilphSpectre. This deathless run was amazing to watch. Keep at it. Your Nuzlocke challenge videos are awesome to watch. Looking forward to seeing your next Nuzlocke challenge video
Just imaging Silph losing a pokemon in game to his rivals on the bridge and just yeeting them off the bridge in response, and the mental image has me cackling
Psst, Gogoat is pure Grass, so those Power-Up Punches were not actually super effective. 😅
Edit: DEATHLESS RUN LET'S GOOOO
Yeah I always thought it was normal grass or ground grass until I watched mandjtv who said it wasn't.
That whole "boxing Holyfield" joke was pure comedic genius!!!
I've watched pretty much all of your challenges and the reason why I think yours are better than the other YTers is because you impose the most challenging set of restrictions (ie. no using a pokemon until it's evolved into the typelocke, choosing the most challenging starter, etc)
Another great video Silph!!! May you do a Psychic hardcore nuzlocke on Pokemon Leafgreen ?
I can only wonder *Y* you would do this, Silph...
... I'll see myself out.
Never gets old! I always listen to these while washing the dishes!
I know it won't be much of a "challenge", but I would love to see what you do with a team of only trade evolvs. Maybe in BDSP
A few certain rom hacks could allow for a fairy monotype run in older games.
Also glad the funny nuzlocker dropped a video.
13:17 Bonnie: My hero!
“Don’t you have any balls?” Had me creasing 😂
You could literally be a fairy type gym leader with this absolute UNIT of a team
Always happy when silph uploads
Hey well done Silph, your Nuzlocke skills just keep growing with each new run. This one was great!
Before finishing the video, this Nuzlocke was actually GG the moment you got a Huge Power Azumarill with +Attack Nature. You could Super Train it for maxed out Attack EVs and it would actually one shot every Pokemon it had coverage on in the game. Huge Power is a straight up 2x multiplier on your Final Attack stat. Meaning Natures and EVs get 2x value from it.
Oh god that "pikablue" comment hit me with the nostalgia of everyone theory crafting what it was XD
Woohoo!!! Deathless at last! Awesome! 30/5! This run was really fun to watch! Kudos to you, my man! :)
Congratz on finally getting that elusive 0 death nuzlocke win!
A deathless run is super impressive! Congrats!
I'm looking for the Flygon HG comment. He's done 2 Gen 6 hard core nuzlockes where Carbink (one of his favs) was a viable encounter, but he got stuck with another encounter. And now you get it.
Hey Silph, have you ever thought of going past the champion in soul silver/heart gold? Like doing a super hardcore nuzlocke fighting all the gyms and then fighting red?
LOVED this challenge! Once im done with my pokemon white nuzlocke i will def try a fairy only on pokemon x!!!!
ONCE DOES NOT START WITH AN I, IT STARTS WITH AN O!
@@Amelia4111 im sorry a typo offended you
I’ve been requesting for a Fairy Nuzlocke in ULTRA SUN, but this perfectly suffices.
Been missing you silph, honestly these are a highlight for me in the week
Silph: We can get a fully evolved Pokémon at level 18!
Porygon-Z: Am I a joke to you?
6:03 well, you fight professor kukui as the champion match in sun and moon, but I guess when this game came out it was the first time 😅
2:04 to 2:09
Silly Silph! It has to be from Prof. OAK, specifically.
Silph you became 200% more sympathic to me because you revealed that you are a member of the Bulbagang😍
It's funny that silph makes a mental note to not underestimate serena's delphic then forgets every single time
Not much better than Flygon in that category, I see?
You gave me the motivation to do a one type only nuzlocke too. I am starting easy with water in X and Y :3
That's the first hardcore monolocke I ever did too. Sadly I lost my starter pretty quickly
I just genuinely yelled “yes!!” When I saw this
This man got hax on hax and STILL killed this run deathless! Way to go Silph! 💯🙌
I had no idea about the Eevee thing in the hotels, that's crazy.
Anakin saying “liar” made me laugh 😂
First Fairy run and its deathless?! Fuck yeah Silph!
12:46 If you pay attention, you can hear Flygon screaming in the background.
Can't believe how much the game kept giving you bad Natures, just to make the run more bothersome, but then gave you some GREAT luck in battle!!
It must feel incredible to get a deathless run! 🥳
Wooooow finally a deathless run, congratz! I kinda missed your salesmanship though :-p
Also, all those moon blasts, perhaps they'd inspire you to do a Hardcore Nuzlocke of Pokémon Moon? ;-)
First deathless run let's gooooo
Happy to see a deathless run finally
Just discovered the channel and I've been watching your vids all day. Fun vids, great speaking voice, and really good background noise when I'm not paying direct attention. Subscribed
love the phantom hourglass names !!
I did a shiny nuzlocke on omega ruby awhile back, and Azumaril became one of my favorite pokemon because of that run. Straight carried me with power-up punch. My shiny Azumaril named Bubbles will stay with me forever lol
AZUMARILL IS SUPPOSED TO END WITH 2 L'S!
I love this guy's commentary
Actual working electricians... a wonderful thought for a more civilized age
Funny coincidence that you play Pokemon Y with Fairy types. I'm currently playing Pokemon Y as a poison type hardcore nuzlocke
Silph managed to make me regret not waking early on a Sunday, Un . . . . believable (see what I did there) there's something about a lazy cozy Sunday watching Silphs Hardcore Nuzlockes challenges and eating breakfast in the meantime that just sits right with me.
Alright now it's time for some kaizo roms. I'm a big fan of Renegade Platinum, would love to see you do a hardcore nuzlocke of it.
When I saw this one in my feed my reaction was like YESSS! FINALLY!!
Oh my god! A deathless run! As always, amazing work and an amazing video
Silph with a deathless Hardcore Nuzlocke LFG!!!
Get this man to 200K - what a great channel
A Nuzlocke would be really cool in either a special/physical moves only (no setup moves either)
Never stop making those videos please, they're amazing!
love the content silph. keep it up!
Finally a deathless one !!!
Congrats
this was an awesome run and glad you got your first deathless.
The Stephan A Smith voiceover killed me lmao 😂
Silph is always great and he makes everything entertaining, but watching this video sadly reminded me of just how easy X and Y are, and how incredibly unbalanced the fairy type is
Now that is some terrible confusion luck
Always nice to see a XY challenge!
I’m so glad Pokémon X and Y are some of my favorite Pokémon games
30:20 Sepultura is a heavy metal band.... How random
Really enjoyed this one. I wasnt really a fan of fairy types either but I do like them more now
Hahaha the deathless would be a Fairy run, love this type!
Yveltal, the omelet of darkness, whom cometh from the egg of evil
my first boxing reference in my nerdy Pokemon game :). (when ur a 4-0 boxer but play Pokemon lmao)
Congrats on the deathless run, not shocked it came in x and y though.
Another great vid! Try doing a hardcore nuzlocke in sword/shield with surprise trades only, retrading duplicates..
Nicknames Klefki Felicia.
Puts Felicia in the box.
Me: Uhh... Bye Felicia?
