Have you ever considered doing themed Nuzlockes based on other immutable traits (at least for the time being) like Pokédex colour type, height, weight, or even Egg group? It’d add some more variety to this channel.
@@CharlieZColt Limiting the amount of Pokémon you can catch has an impact on gameplay regardless. And if you wanna get technical, weight does affect gameplay.
Here we gooo! It's time to put the Ice type to the test; something we don't get to do too often! Just want to put out a huge thank you to everyone supporting the channel - it means the world that I can have so much fun playing the game I've loved since I was a young kid with so many people
Hey Silph 👋 I've been really hoping to see a return of the true power series. I thought you might do so after the BDSP games came out since those games would see some updates to the lineups you'd run into, but then it never came ☹ i love your challenge videos, but I'd be over the moon if True Power did make its return. Do you have any plans at all to do that? If not, how come? I'd love to at least know one way or the other if you have a second.
It's SO crazy to me that one of Silph's only deathless runs is in an ICE type run in one of the hardest games to hardcore nuzlocke. Wild. I personally have a warm spot in my heart for ice types and Glaceon is my favorite Eeveelution (yes, I know it's probably the worst one in battle, but I don't care--its design is too cool not to love!). Great run Silph! Love your content!
TBH actually I'd say Flareon is the worst because it has Rampardos syndrome. Glaceon at least has bulk and is a fantastic user of Mirror Coat, niche as it is. They're both super cute though.
Glaceon is so cool. It’s the speed and ability that hamstrings it tho but it was awesome to see it on a Hail team like this tho, where it thrives most. Shame it doesn’t get Slush Rush instead of Snow Cloak, then we would be really talking
Holy hell man! That Cynthia battle almost gave me multiple heart attacks! This may be one of my all time favorite monotype runs! One of your best videos ever, only below the true power tournaments! You know how to really keep the suspense going! Keep it up Silph!
Silph i just wanna say i love your videos and the monotype challenges you make in these early vanilla pokemon games!! Easily the most unique poketuber out there hands down keep it up 😝🤤🤤
That Hiker calling you out on being an awkward traveler: "Excuse me, I'm not the one sitting at the entrance of a cave and ambushing random people with bizarre comments!"
I am pleasantly surprised by how well the Ice type team stood up to one of the most challenging regions! Makes me wish even more for a current gen Ice type buff
Fine. You get: 50% boost in snow Chilly Reception Ice Spinner Baxcalibur, Chien Pao and Iron Bundle Your only downside is that fire has got a lot buff this generation. Also almost wanna become Tera Steel, and you are quite weak to Steel Type moves. Still, this might suffice - Game Freak. I am still waiting for Game Freak to buff poison type.
imagine being a fighting-type gym leader and seeing your team being swept by a pokemon that is quad weak to fighting an absolutely amazing run tho! a deathless run is always a 10/10 run to me :)
Congratulations for such a wonderful run! I would recommend doing Mono-Ghost Type run for Ultra Sun!! It couldn’t have been easy going all that way and manage a deathless run after an unfortunate first attempt.
nCongrats on the deathless run, Silph! I look forward to your videos every week after binging everything in a day, sad I know! Ice type is so beautiful and I am so happy you didn't have to say goodbye to any of them, especially after declaring your love for them. I almost cried! ♥
Can I throw in a video idea? How about hardcore nuzlockes where you can only use Pokemon you have never personally used? Personally it saddens me how due to the rules themselves, you are stripped away from using some really cool Pokemon.
I just found your channel today, this was really cool. I like the funny commentary and your ability to make time consuming runs into these digestable videos. Never a dull moment
Been watching and subbed for 4 months. Loving the mix of comedy, sadness and intensity. I’d love to see a nuzlocke on sword/shield using only raid den Pokémon.
I don't think that the Spheal line not being in modern-day Sinnoh is a result of direct human intervention but instead because the region got warmer due to humans building towns, cities and industries in them. I know it was a joke but I like pondering about such things.
@@Insnomnia I think what they meant by human intervention was direct intervention, as in driving them out interventionally, which doesn't appear to be the case in the suggested scenario
Dont you mean the region got colder due to humans building towns, cities and industries in them. Which makes your theory null and void. Before you argue with me check out the 3 studies done during covid which showed the planet got hotter during the lock downs which was the opposite thing that mainstream media told us would happen. Science for the win.
I really love that you are willing to modify the encounters in order to nuzlocke with certain types. I think it’s fun to see what could’ve been. I’ve always wanted to see a FRLG nuzlocke with only dark types from gens 2-3 since there are no dark types in Kanto so it would be cool to see how they do
You, Silphspecter, flygonhg, antlerboy and Andrew C are my favorite poke nuzlockers you guy ply the same games but it's always a different experience everything and you guy's humor is always on point
Cynthia still maintains the mantle as the most popular and beloved trainer in the entire series. That is wild but I'm cool with it. She deserves the praise.
What a legend! Love your challenges man! If you ever think of expanding your vids to not just typing related runs, I’d love to see you do themed runs like maybe mons that can learn the same move by level up (not like tackles and leers but more interesting moves) or maybe something that I did which was a Dragon-like Pokémon run, where not every mon was Dragon type, but they could all learn at least one Dragon move through tm or level up and they had traits of different kinds of Dragons; Serperior (serpentine dragon), Krookadile (learns moves and has some Dragon traits), Aggron (like an armoured Dragon), and the rest were Dragon types; Haxorus, Flygon, Altaria. Obviously you’d give good definitions so it would be more obvious on which Pokémon that you could use but I think it’s a great idea because then you aren’t just limited to one type (which obviously is part of why these challenges are so good but you’re gonna wanna keep things fresh so you can keep up these awesome vids for hopefully a long time so it’s my suggestion!)
congratulations Silph! great run! always loved ice-type pokemon and you`ve made them shine so much! one of the best runs I`ve ever seen, can`t wait to see your next run!!!
big moves mr. spectre, modifying the rules of nuzlockes to make it work for your run instead of quibbling about the minutiae of not being allowed to do something. following the spirit of the law rather than the letter.
Silph definitely must have had trauma from the HC Mono Ghost run that against Cynthia, went from deathless to a single Froslass left (maybe the Froslass was an omen?)
I used a Glaceon in my Platinum Nuzlocke and I was a big fan. Bulky and hit hard, he was my Gyarados killer and he oneshot both Giratina and Garchomp with Ice Beam. A real hero.
No way… Silph, you deserve this deathless run. It was one of the worst types in the game. And you beat with quite a unique team with odds against you. You are a champion to be held high. Congrats!
eyy silph, missed you man, forgot to leave a comment on the Steel monotype of Shield, but it was great too. and now youre in with another banger type video. to think i thought ice and dragon were the only 2 non viable monotypes to do on platinum without heavy modification, and then you drop this video and antlerboy had posted a dragon run few weeks ago too (was the dragon plate location shown in the video a node to him?) and once again making some more diferent runs with cheeky modifications to the games rom, solid. ice types are perhaps my favorite along with fire and electric, shame they have the least mons in the current dex and prior to recent games were locked to near end game and theyre till this day due to some typing interactions buff.still, its refreshing to see something done with them on these challenges. also glad to know you love spheals too. theyre shaped like friends.

The third gym was an awesome play. With a Spheal and a snover (two of the cutest Pokémon out there btw) you're almost any time the underdog. Same thing with the 4th gym when you got only ice types. Great play!
This has to be one of the most intense and crazier HC Nuzlocke runs from Silph, and the result being his 2nd Deathless Run (after the Pokémon X with Fairy-types) made it even better! I genuinely thought he could've lost some Pokémon in either the last Rival Battle or the by Cynthia, but how he played in those two is incredible. Gotta say, I think getting Sneasel over Snorunt as the third viable encounter was a blessing in disguise.

That's why pokemon unbound is so fun, route one is all ice
