For the 20th year anniversary and in hype for Across the Spider-Verse. Let's take a look back at the MTV Spider-Man show and see how it holds up. I do not own any of the clips or music used in this video. Most of the BTS footage and info I found was from Scarlet Exodus's channel.
Loved the video. On a recent binge watch I did after not watching the series for some time I was genuinely surprised at how good it was and how good the animation was for the most part. The swinging scenes in particular are incredibly fluid and fast-paced. Spider-Man moves like a spider but still has weight to his movements. The fight scenes are top notch and the visual editing with how they manage transitions between scenes or reflections in scenes (such as Spider-Man running at Kraven and it being reflected in his knife) are actually extremely good for being made all the way back in 2003. I really think TNAS is one of the most unique and greatest adaptations of Spider-Man ever and it's unfortunate how it's still somewhat obscure.
I'd love to go on but I don't think a UA-cam comment could properly convey everything great about the show haha
@@ScarletExodusLovesTNAS honestly true, it’s hard to sum up emotions in text. It’s hard to explain the kind of early 2000s nostalgic and melancholy feeling that Spider-Man TNAS gives off.
Honestly this is the middle Childe of Spider-Man show's, and it kind of makes me mad that this show is never recognized for staying true to the character and improving a lot of them and the show never pulling punches when it came to adults theme like suicide.

I was shocked that they'd be scared to use Black Cat, but not scared to kill off Curt Connners until I realized he wasn't in the first movie, I guess I was so used to playing Spider-Man 2 and 3 as a youngster that I never realized he wasn't always there from the start.
Speaking of which, did anyone else also see this show and play Spider-Man 3 as a kid, and used to think that the Terragax leader from this show and the Mad bomber from that game were the same character?
For the most part it looks extremly dated, but in some scenes when the lights are just right and the animation is smooth i swear it looks amazing. It has a lot of style, but was obviously restrained by technology, i wish we could see a 2023 rendition of the series.

One of the best versions of Peter Parker. Neil Patrick Harris is great in the role.
If I remember correctly, there was a reference to the X-Men in the show. I think that if the show continued, we probably would’ve gotten to see the X-Men (or maybe one of the X-Men, like Wolverine or Kitty Pryde) appear in the show.
And the police in the show called Spider-Man “mutant freak” lmaoo

I’ve been watching the show on Disney plus recently and it is really good it was really over hated it’s a really good show
8:28 FUN FACT! In the Brazilian version, the studio who dubbed it said "Fuck off" then they named her as Felicia! Haha! I dunno why, but they did this! PLUS in the Spec series, they called Tombstone as The Kingpin!
I was scared of electro in this show that’s what I remember
I remember when I was younger, watching the collection DVD of this on some portable TV thing. Because of that its easily my favourite series, and I'm happy more people are appreciating it. I still own the DVD, and i love watching it time to time.
Also fun fact: in the episode with the Turbo guy, at one point when he speeds by you can pause it and see him in a weird squatting position. Just a fun thing to look at.
Please I need this show, bring it back MTV, Marvel, Sony any of you guys, take my money, just bring it back😭😿

I was always fond of this show. It wasn't my favorite Spider-Man at the time (that was the 90's and a bit of Amazing Friends), but I liked watching it on weekday mornings while I was visiting Mexico for the summer.
Underrated series that deserve more seasons

I feel like the animation shows how timeless it is. Half the reason I feel like it failed at the time is because full CG shows were not the norm, but look at today. Most cartoons on TV and Film are CG, if this show ever got a revival and they touched it up a bit it would slot in perfectly well. It’s honestly the only Spider-Man cartoon I can watch without feeling like I’m too old to watch it. I like that this show didn’t directly pander to kids, felt like a proper new story in Spider-Mans world done with a more grounded style.
Imagine if this show was revived has the same animation as Marvel’s What if
you know it’s sad that this show is underrated i hope more people know it cause this show is perfect heck i even have to say that it’s better then spectacular spider-man yeah it’s that good...so who ever is readying this PLEASE WAT- watch this series it’s really good please!
y'know, alot of the time i think about what if this show continued and we got Venom or even Carnage, with how creepy electro was, imagine how terrifying Venom and Carnage would be..such ashame, i'd kill for another season.
This is the first Spidey show I watched in its entirety since the 90s one was too long for a child me to manage. The intro still gets me hyped and the visuals are so exciting, they really pump you up for the episode.
I'm surprised that it wasn't mentioned, but this show is an alternate sequel to the original Raimi film.
I wish we could have gotten a continuation of some kind. I was always so disappointed and frustrated that it ended the way it did, as a kid. Hopefully this version will return in the next spider verse. But, I'm not going to get my hopes up too high.

It wasn't Mary Jane that was the problem with coming on and off towards Peter (Except perhaps most of the time in this show, I'd have to rewatch), it was Peter.
She loves him, but she constantly gets mixed signals from him, especially while he has the hard task of being Spider-Man.
He loves her, she loves him, then he goes on about how he can't be with her, her heart gets broken, and then recycle the situation. She has a hard time having trust in him so she has troubles trusting herself and TRIES to go after new men, but that only ends up confusing her more and brings her back to Peter every time it doesn't feel right to be with someone else.
And in Spider-Man three it absolutely didn't help Mary with everything Peter did with Gwen. I feel like, regardless of how annoying it was, the way she acted was very human and consistent with how weird human emotions are to most people.
I never forgot the scene of spider-man almost killing indy. like, fuck.

I don't care if the animation quality doesn't hold up, the mature writing and the YTK vibe of this show is super charming to me. I can rewatch it as an adult without groaning. Modern Spider-Man cartoons&movies just scream "For Ages 10 and below". Its weird because Spider-Man was originally a rebellious teen superhero now he's just sanitized of all that angst&grit. Maybe, its because i come from a generation that used to watch TV religiously, kids these days have the internet, so why bother??? any kid smart enough to browse netflix probably won't watch cartoons religiously, the only demographic that will watch cartoons on Tv are the younger children and they don't have high standards.

I recently got some DVD episodes (surprisingly from a dollar tree) and I remembered that I used to watch this show
I know season 2 won't be possible but I've heard that some other fans making their own take of season 2 which I am excited for

@@shaddowkid85 honestly I heard that this Spider Man animated series got great reviews, but apparently it didn’t “fit” with MTV’s programming. So apparently MTV would rather show Jersey Shore rather than a CGI Spider-Man that actually looked really ahead of it’s time for when it was released back in 2003.
Give me Spider-Man any day of the week, I don’t know why MTV has to show partying adults who think they are above everyone else in society

This show felt more like Ultimate Spider-Man than the 2012 "Ultimate Spider-Man" ever did.
I guess it’s because this show was originally going to be a ultimate spider man cartoon

After watching the entire series on Disney+ I enjoyed Indy and Peter’s relationship, they shared something in common, they both were smart and had a knack for gaining footage for a top story
Funny enough I actually have two tnas dvds that Ive had for over a decade (if your wondering why a five year old would have the MTV version of spiderman, blame the fact that my mom didnt really look into the series and when she did figure it out, she never took it away from me but granted i only had the first dvd at the time with the lizard, knockoff elektra, and the russian iron men and those episodes arent that bad......... besides swearing and guns and the off screen decapitation if you know, you know lol). I desperately want a second season of this show but i doubt that will ever happen😩

That it didn't air in the intended order hurt it, but it's still genuinely great to sit through and entertaining.
The dialogue is snappy and entertaining, and Neil Patrick Harris is high in the list of my absolute favorite Spider-Man voice actors.

I’ll always be salty that This show, Avengers EMH, Spectacular, and Spider-Man TAS get cancelled but Ultimate Spider-Men, Marvel’s Spider-Men, and Avengers Assemble get to run its course.
I’ve watched this show on two separate streaming platforms Netflix and Disney+. Netflix had it in the correct chronological order. I shall now rewatch this in the correct order on Disney+.

The Film is connected with the 2002 film but looks more like The Amazing Spider-Man series similar suit and villains like Lizard and Electro.
