DIY Garmin / Suunto Smart Watch Charger

**WHILE USING THIS METHOD ALWAYS STAY IN THE ROOM WHILE THE CHARGER IS PLUGGED IN AND DONT LEAVE IT CHARGING OVER NIGHT! **
If you've left your watch charger at home here's a quick solution
All you need is:
1. An old phone charging wire and wall adapter
2.Wire strippers / scissors / knife (A way of cutting/stripping wire)
3.Tape
4.The pin-out diagram for the model of watch you are going to charge (or the pin-out for its charger) e.g.
Garmin Fenix 3 charger pin-out:
images.app.goo...
A quick Google search should do it!
This solution is only intended as a temporary solution. I wouldn't recommend using it all the time because of the risk of fire. Therefore, you should always be in the room when this charger is plugged in!!

If your watch has 4 pins that means there are 2 for charging and 2 for data transfer.
If you want to charge it then just make 2 pin

Did the original charger plug into a usb charging head? If so then it most likely uses 5 volts so should work if you can find the pin out for the watch

I just need to charge my Garmin Descent MK2i till I get my Cable back, not sure if the pinouts are the same but where did you get them from? Edit, found my old spare Descent MK1 spare cable and chopped the Plastic to charge :-)

My pin charger melted when it touched my metal legged desk. tried to find a replacement but the aftermarket pins didn't exactly fit well enough for continuous charge. I'm planning to make this from the ill-fitting charging cable. Thanks and I'll let you know if successful. A genius idea.

You could use the data wires if you wanted to access the files on the watch or upload using a PC. But this video was just for charging the watch. It might be a bit difficult to get a stable connection with four pins at the same time but there's nothing to stop you trying it.

I like you video, I intend to try it. Just 1 question. Instead of charger, can I use a mouse. Then I connect the mouse usb to a electricity adapter. I have some broken mice, and I don´t want to breke a phone charger. Thank you

I didnt think of that but yes a usb mouse wire should work fine as long as you can determine the power and ground wires from the data wires
